Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 8 - the last three weeks!

BIWI · 08/03/2021 07:45

Morning all.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hope it's been a good week - lots of challenges going on! I challenged myself to cook something different with cauliflower yesterday as I was getting bored of the same old same old, and so found a recipe for Bang Bang cauliflower, which I adapted slightly to make it more low carb friendly. I shall post that later.

In the meantime, I hope that the scales or the measuring tape have been kind to you!

Here's to a good next week. Remember we only have three left, so if things are slacking a bit, time to get stricter again.

@ShagMeRiggins

cheeseisbest I’ve added your weights to the spreadsheet but it doesn’t like missing cells for calculations so you look like you’ve had a 9.5lb loss this week. Grin Anyway, the numbers are up date.

I still haven’t finished last week’s thread but will do so very soon.

This week I am definitely trying bibimbap!

WATER WATER WATER NOW!!!

Haha thank you!
OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 15:13

Brilliant, thank you BIWI . I’m just so programmed to making sandwiches for a packed lunch!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 08/03/2021 15:26

@Dailyhandtowelwash I had a tummy too when I was young. It has come and gone over the years and I've never really been happy with it even when I was 8 stone. Clearly I have issues that I need to work on in that regard. You've made great progress so far, keep it up! The best part of this WOE for me so far is no cravings. I made rocky road with DS yesterday was not remotely tempted to have any.

@Prettybird I love opals, those are beautiful. I have some very pretty little opals on hoops I bought from cult of youth, I must dig them out.

@FusionChefGeoff I run 3 times a week (usually 6-7 hilly kilometres) and usually don't eat at all before running. Previous to this WOE I used to have wholegrain toast or a banana prior to running but at the moment I often don't eat before a run most of the time. I don't think there's any need for gels etc unless you're doing quite a distance. Try it and see how you feel.

I feel quite crap and shaky today. Had yoghurt and seed mix for breakfast, went for a run, soup and chicken salad for lunch but had to have a sit down after lunch and felt very shaky when walking to pick DS up from school. Had some salt and there was plenty of salt in the soup too. I wonder could it be electrolytes? What could I take to help with that? I don't really have anything in the house. I am due my period too and usually feel crap when it's on the way.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 08/03/2021 15:43

@BustleInYourHedgerow very kind, and keep on trucking! I had an overhang even when I had disordered eating as a teen (my weight goes straight to that area) even when the rest of me was skin and bones and I weighed under eight stone so I know I’ll never experience a flat tummy. I would though be beyond happy not to be constantly asked when I’m due, as has been the case since I was a teenager! Presumably at some point it will be a visible biological impossibility. Grin

StuntNun · 08/03/2021 16:00

OverweightPidgeon my new favourite for lunch is cold cheeseburger pie. It's even nicer with a little salad and/or coleslaw. Crustless quiche is another option, or cooked chicken, or those individual egg muffins.

I'm enjoying the descriptions of Korean food, it sounds like something I NEED to try. I've had kimchi and I've had a Leon Korean burger but that's it! Where should a complete newbie start with Korean cooking?

OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 16:06

Ooh thank you @StuntNun I’ll have a look.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 16:16

No real loss for me this week. Definitely slacked on the water over the weekend and haven't had the whoosh I was hoping for. It will come, I will up the water. 0.2kg down on last week, so nearly half a pound... 7.5lbs in 5 weeks isn't terrible anyway.

@OverweightPidgeon I took leftover fried cabbage, chorizo slices and mayo to work today, so I really will just throw stuff in a tub and eat it! However I have a low carb roll a few times a week. They are good.

@StuntNun I'm sure I recommended a Very Sharp Large Knife for preparing celeriac fries, your poor mandolin ShockSad

RagzReturnsRebooted · 08/03/2021 16:22

Oh, I have dropped down to 29.9 BMI, so no longer obese. Which is enough to keep me going.

OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 17:02

Brilliant @RagzReturnsRebooted

prettybird · 08/03/2021 17:07

That's fantastic Ragz Thanks

Well done for KOKO - you are getting the rewards Star

pinkpinkeverywhere · 08/03/2021 17:30

Well done @RagzReturnsRebooted!
My bootcamp recommended Renpho scales calculate my BMI automatically for me and I love watching it come down as much as I do my weight.
I think as BIWI said having mini goals along the way really helps my motivation - the next number down on the scales, 5%, half a stone, etc

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/03/2021 17:38

Oh, well done Ragz!

VeryLittleOwl · 08/03/2021 18:00

Congratulations, Ragz!

pinkpinkeverywhere I love that Renpho app, I'm determined to get all the boxes to go green! Body fat, subcutaneous fat and metabolic age are all still red or orange and skeletal muscle is blue at the moment, but I think that one will rise automatically to green as the others come down.

ShagMeRiggins · 08/03/2021 18:00

This is where you get to shout with joy and do your “I’m overweight, hooray!” dance.

Everyone who has gone from Obese to merely Overweight will get this.

CowGurl · 08/03/2021 19:20

Oh, well done, Ragz! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

Doilooklikeatourist · 08/03/2021 19:26

@RagzReturnsRebooted Well done , that’s an achievement to proud of

Thanks for the styling offer @ShagMeRiggins I’ve sent a message

cheeseisthebest · 08/03/2021 19:27

Well done!

ouchmyfeet · 08/03/2021 19:29

Everyone who has gone from Obese to merely Overweight will get this.

I'm planning a little party when I move from being morbidly obese to just plain old regular obesity Grin

nowlook · 08/03/2021 19:44

Yay Ragz! Fantastic! You deserve it for the dirty fries recipe alone Grin

mirpuppet · 08/03/2021 19:55

Thanks for the offer @ShagMeRiggins. I sent you a message.

I'm down 11 pounds since I started low carb.

cheeseisthebest · 08/03/2021 20:35

Well done mirpuppet
ShagmeRiggins that sounds incredible and very kind!

Oneborneverydecade · 08/03/2021 21:02

@cheeseisthebest how did the first day back go? I only saw a couple of mums due to the staggered start and one said "you look different, have you changed your hair?' Confused So much for the big reveal

Oneborneverydecade · 08/03/2021 21:06

@RagzReturnsRebooted well done! Great nsv

@ouchmyfeet you'll get there, and we'll be here cheering

@BustleInYourHedgerow I do love Cult of Youth

Thank you @ShagMeRiggins

Did @lyrata change her username or has she been blocked due to FWR too?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 08/03/2021 21:29

Yay, Ragz! It’s a total watershed. I had a long chat with my GP recently, who is wonderful, and she told me that my BMI (27/28) was ‘really nothing to worry about’, I really want to get to 23 ideally but being out of the obese bracket really feels like a victory.
