Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 8 - the last three weeks!

BIWI · 08/03/2021 07:45

Morning all.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hope it's been a good week - lots of challenges going on! I challenged myself to cook something different with cauliflower yesterday as I was getting bored of the same old same old, and so found a recipe for Bang Bang cauliflower, which I adapted slightly to make it more low carb friendly. I shall post that later.

In the meantime, I hope that the scales or the measuring tape have been kind to you!

Here's to a good next week. Remember we only have three left, so if things are slacking a bit, time to get stricter again.

4lbs off for me this week, but it’s only week 2 for me so I expect that will slow down next week but it puts me firmly in the 15s, which is the first time in a long time.

ShagMeRiggins · 08/03/2021 12:16

cheeseisbest I’ve added your weights to the spreadsheet but it doesn’t like missing cells for calculations so you look like you’ve had a 9.5lb loss this week. Grin Anyway, the numbers are up date.

I still haven’t finished last week’s thread but will do so very soon.

This week I am definitely trying bibimbap!

WATER WATER WATER NOW!!!

I am 100% snacking from boredom and habit.

Saturday was awful - i was so miserable and bored in general and I am seeing now how much I used to turn to sugar / food to entertain me / change the way I felt. So there's a big change needed there which I don't think will be easy. I'm also hoping that now kids are back and I'm not tied to the kitchen table / making food ALL the time I will be less tempted by the fridge.

Agree re: dairy but I'm using it to up fat content in some meals so will try to use more olive oil I guess?

Regarding runs - I thought it would take a while to become fat adapted and therefore eating before runs was a good thing to do to start with? I've managed to ditch the gels - I used to have 3 to do the run I've just done so that's a huge improvement.

I am drinking a 750ml bottle of water AT LEAST 4 times a day plus 2 cups of black tea in the morning and then 4-5 cups of herbal tea throughout the day (peppermint, chamomile, honey & ginger, Yogi bedtime tea).

FREE ONLINE STYLE SEASION

With BIWI’s kind permission, I’m going to offer free Zoom sessions for anyone who might be interested in a few tips about how to look better right now regardless of where you are on the Bootcamp losses.

This is what I do professionally. I am not afraid to say I am very good at it, frankly!

I’ve done these before for Bootcampers as a way of showing my appreciation for all the ideas and support, but also because it’s social and fun and a positive distraction.

Send me a PM and you must include an email for me to reply. I cannot be doing with a gazillion PMs on my phone, sorry. Feel free to add what you’re interested in or perhaps a day/time that would work well for you.

Ambitiously, I could do one as early as this weekend but would definitely start something next week.

If you have done this before but want to come again, please do. No need to be polite and “not take someone else’s place.” Hmm

I will do as many sessions as necessary to accommodate anyone interested.

You do not have to provide your real name, you can use any anonymous email that you like; I’m not interested in “outing” anyone and am strict about confidentiality issues.

Mwah!

BIWI · 08/03/2021 12:35

I can confirm that Shag is very good! I really enjoyed the session I attended and can heartily recommend it/her Smile

(And thank you for offering your time/expertise too Flowers)

You are wonderful @ShagMeRiggins Thanks

When I'm next on the laptop, I'll drop you a PM. I found the one session I did with you very helpful - and would like to be better prepared next time BlushSmile

nowlook · 08/03/2021 12:36

Me me me me Grin Shag
Will pm you!

VeryLittleOwl · 08/03/2021 12:48

I'd love one - have PMd you, but got so overexcited that I forgot to include dates and times I could do!! Any time day or evening apart from Monday and Wednesday evenings and I'd be particularly interested in finding a style that will stand up to a lot of outdoor farm-type work without making me look like a walking laundry heap.

VeryLittleOwl · 08/03/2021 12:51

Oh, and down 2.4lbs for this week's weigh in. Another 5lbs and I'll be into the 9st-somethings, a number I haven't seen for about 8 years.

nowlook · 08/03/2021 12:51

Oh yes, I also forgot that LittleOwl. Reading back my message, I think I need a therapist rather than a stylist Grin

Jellycatspyjamas · 08/03/2021 12:55

That’s incredibly kind @ShagMeRiggins, I’ll pm you.

I went shopping today for school shoes for my daughter and came back with some new clothes - a couple of things in smaller sizes which I thought would motivate me as I loose weight. To my surprise they all (except one skirt) fit me - and fit me easily, I’ve been so stuck in leggings and baggy jumpers I’ve not noticed I’ve gone down a full dress size.

StuntNun · 08/03/2021 12:56

That celeriac gratin recipe looks lovely Pinkpink. Unfortunately my last celeriac broke my mandolin slicer when I attempted to make celeriac fries. Hmm

ouchmyfeet · 08/03/2021 13:18

That sounds amazing @ShagMeRiggins
I will definitely PM you. Thank you so muchSmile

That is a brilliant NSV. And now you have some nice new things to wear now instead of ‘someday.’ 👍
pinkpinkeverywhere · 08/03/2021 14:00

Oh dear @StuntNun Shock I just thinly slice mine.
What a lovely offer @ShagMeRiggins, but I'm not sure I'm in any fit state to be seen on Zoom Blush

OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 14:03

What a lovely offer @ShagMeRiggins , I’m in !

I only lost a pound last week but heading in the right direction- I MUST drink more water I think.

Has anyone got suggestions for packed lunches to take to work ? It’s so easy to throw a sandwich together but obviously the bread is a no no . Thanks

OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 14:05

@StuntNun I did celeriac mash yesterday and tried to use my potato peeler on it. Needless to say I didn’t get very far !

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 08/03/2021 14:16

That’s a lovely generous offer Shag I will definitely PM you!

@prettybird I’m enjoying your earrings and their stories! I had a gorgeous pair that a friend had made for me from a bracelet of hers that was broken, but unfortunately one was lost in an international move. I’m still hopeful it’ll turn up in a random pocket or something one day...

nowlook · 08/03/2021 14:20

I too am amazed at prettybird's collection. Do you have enough for the full 31 days? My favourites so far have been your mum's pearls and the black and gold (I think?) statement ones with the matching huge necklace.

MrsOmelette · 08/03/2021 14:32

I’ve ended up doing a 24 hour fast by accident as been busy...no wonder I’m a little hungry lol. So today’s food: cheese & mushroom omelette. Tomorrow’s: L - egg salad, D - chicken casserole.

prettybird · 08/03/2021 14:41

I have more than enough earrings Blush

I recently lost one of my Wedding earrings - Christian Dior drop pearl earrings (not real pearls of course Wink) Sad It must have fallen out at some point that day between 11am when I put them in and 5pm when I noticed - but in between times we'd gone for our daily walk and I'd gone to post something at our priority post box and popped in to the newsagent for some milk - which is when I suspect it might have come off, while putting on/taking off my face mask.

Dh and I retraced our footsteps the following day and I walked back to the post box, but no luck Sad I live in hope that it will turn up somewhere in the house. I may resort to taking a picture of the remaining one and doing a reverse image search Shock

FusionChefGeoff · 08/03/2021 14:45

What does NSV stand for? I think I understand the concept but not the initials!

BIWI · 08/03/2021 14:47

NSV = non scales victory

You could always buy bread/rolls from the Seriously Low Carb company . It's really good - just like normal bread but very low in carbs - 2 slices (i.e. a sandwich worth) is just 2g carbs. It's high in protein too, which makes it quite filling.

Otherwise, a thermos flask, which you fill with soup or leftovers from dinner the night before would work.

Cold things - cooked low carb sausages, hard-boiled eggs, tuna mayo and a pot of salad - get yourself some of those individual plastic boxes to transport it all in.
