So, DF had half a lung removed due to cancer 3 years ago, has COPD with a deep seated infection in his good lung.

DH has the most horrendous piles that have somehow become infected, as well as long-standing bowel issues and anal fissures so is in severe pain.

Just waiting for updates! Thanks everyone Grin

I will have to draw a line under what I've eaten today- it's interesting how still after all these months I have still reached for the stress foods Sad

OverweightPidgeon · 02/03/2021 18:49

Jesus @ZiggZagg I hope everyone is ok xx

Doilooklikeatourist · 02/03/2021 18:58

💐🤞@ZiggZagg hope you hear some good news soon

StuntNun · 02/03/2021 18:59

Oh no ZiggZagg what a lot going on at once. Unfortunately comfort food often does make us feel temporarily better so don't feel bad for responding to such a stressful set of circumstances. How can we help you get back on track? Best wishes for speedy recoveries by your DH and DF.

LostaraYil · 02/03/2021 19:02

Flowers @ZiggZagg.
@kilojules, I am so impressed with all the cooking! I'm having a break from cooking this evening and just had some cheese and olives because I can't be bothered and DH is making risotto for himself and DS. Definitely going through a phase of food boredom here like you, @LittleMy77. I'm also feeling a bit down at the small gain this week, but my waist is 1cm smaller so will KOKO.
I chose the Shred for my challenge and am surprised to say I'm quite enjoying it so far! What weight dumbells are other shredders using, I only have 1.5kg but that's hard enough for most of the exercises tbh.

Lyrata · 02/03/2021 19:03

Sorry to hear that @ZiggZagg :(. I hope everything turns out okay, you must be so stressed.

My day has been a bit crap for food.

Breakfast: 2 x creamy coffees + cottage cheese
Lunch: celeriac chips topped with slow cooked oxtail and beef shin stew and bone marrow
Snack: 4 squares of dark chocolate
Snack: creamy coffee
Snack: cheese
Snack: yogurt with raspberries
Dinner: steak and bone marrow
Snack: yogurt and raspberries

Way too many carbs, and broke my no-chocolate-lent rule. Feel a bit bad.

ZiggZagg · 02/03/2021 19:16

stunt I'm fine, I've realized that I did it, feel shit now so will remember this for my next crisis!!

Still running tests on both, I'm going to try and have some rest. DD will stay with my mum, DS with me!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, this group rocks!!

cheeseisthebest · 02/03/2021 19:19

Flowers ZiggZagg. Hope you get some rest xxx

nowlook · 02/03/2021 19:24

You poor thing Zigg! Fingers crossed for you all.

Hope you went on well today cheese and Thanks for all of who are feeling a bit rudderless.

lyrata your food still sounds like you've got raymond blanc in the kitchen

nowlook · 02/03/2021 19:25

Christ not cheese!!!

Cheesus Christ Grin

Oneborneverydecade · 02/03/2021 19:45

@LostaraYil I'm doing beginners shred with tons of beans as I don't own any dumbbells and was surprised at the price on Amazon.

@ZiggZagg how stressful! I hope DF and DH make a speedy recovery

Thank you @StuntNun I didn't realise about carbs after fasting. I calculate I ate approx 8g carbs so I don't feel too bad but I will avoid a repeat

Oneborneverydecade · 02/03/2021 19:48

@kilojules your baking sounds delicious!

DD and I made a v pink Victoria sponge. The good thing about having a teen boy in the house is most homemade cakes and biscuits disappear overnight

Dreamqueen · 02/03/2021 19:57

@ZiggZagg sending you Flowers. Hope you manage to get some rest yourself & that DF & DH improve.

ListenLinda · 02/03/2021 20:04

Day 2 of challenge also completed Grin lots of water today, trying to combat what could be period retention

FusionChefGeoff · 02/03/2021 20:14

Woah @ZiggZagg that's a lot to take in you poor thing. Hope everything starts to settle soon and you'll be able to see a way forward.

@kilojules those rolls look ace - for AFTER my 2 weeks obviously before the Big Stick comes out.

I'm squirrelling away recipes - can you share a link?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 02/03/2021 20:19

ZiggZagg, I do hope you get some better news this evening Flowers

I have STS again this week, but have a happy feeling that that will change by next. Belly seems smaller Halo

BIWI · 02/03/2021 20:57

OMG @ZiggZagg - what a day. I hope they both recover soon Flowers

@ZiggZagg blimey, you poor thing! My DH had really bad piles, he would sympathise. He tried banding and it was so painful he had to go under a general for the second attempt and then ended up in A&E a few days later due to the pain. Now he just puts up with them as he's terrified to have more surgery, but it does mean he can't go on long walks and it really sets them off. Infection sounds agonising!

Breakfast - creamy coffee
Lunch - crispy air fried pork bites and spicy air fried cauliflower
Dinner - meatballs in cream cheese and tomato sauce, buttered courgette and air fried broccoli (coated in oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika and salt first). Gorgeous.
1 square dark chocolate as I'd been reading keto dessert recipes and looking at reviews for powdered erythritol on Amazon, trying to find something to make for mothers day (spent last year's one crying and sulking so I'm going to treat myself this year!). I think I'll go for the roulade/pavlova thing from a few threads ago (@StuntNun? maybe) rather than a cake which requires flour substitute as well.

I'd forgotten about strawberries and cream until mentioned earlier, I love that as a low carb pudding but I won't eat them out of season.

Had dinner early as I was doing late clinic at work so I'm hungry now, the chocolate didn't help! May have to make myself some ham and cheese 'sandwiches' with some of DH's special piccalilli (fancy spicy stuff made by someone who does spicy sauces and it's gorgeous, I hate normal piccalilli!) which is very low sugar compared to sho ones.

WitchWand · 02/03/2021 23:29

Sorry to hear that things are so hard for you and your family the moment @ZiggZagg. Hope you're able to take good care of yourself.Sending you FlowersFlowersFlowers

Special hug to you too @Lyrata. I hope you're ok. Sounds as though things have been difficult for you today. I've been thinking that as spring nearers, the weather is going to start to change and that should make it easier food-wise. What do you think ?
(Hand-hold, you're nearly there Wink Smile)

ZiggZagg · 03/03/2021 01:20

Wow thank you everyone!

What a rollercoaster of a day!

DH is fine, was discharged after a few hours with better medication.

We were then told that my Darling Father was not expected to make it through the night, to absolutely miraculous news that he has responded well to treatment and things are much more positive. I've had a really good few hours crying and will now definitely try to get some sleep. Already informed work that I won't be in tomorrow as I'm sure I will not be of much use to them in my current state.

I just wanted to update you as you're such a lovely supportive bunch! I really appreciate your thoughts and well wishes Grin

WitchWand · 03/03/2021 01:28

Oh that is good news @ZiggZagg !
I hope you have a peaceful night's rest.

BustleInYourHedgerow · 03/03/2021 02:35

You're in my thoughts Ziggzag.

B: fried egg, avocado
D: Omelette, roast broccoli
S Greek yoghurt with raspberries

I am getting Mexican takeaway tomorrow and I am beyond excited. Looks like lots of carb free options so fingers crossed.

StuntNun · 03/03/2021 05:32

Oh what a relief that things are better than expected ZiggZagg. Be kind to yourself today as you've had quite the stressful time of it.

kilojules · 03/03/2021 07:10

@ZiggZagg complete missed your post in my skimming yesterday. So sorry to hear about your DF and DH! What an ordeal. Hardest things is not being able to visit in hospital and waiting for news isint it. Glad they are better. Hoping your dad recovers quick.
You poor DH! That's one of the most painful things aside from childbirth!
Tip for DH. If they haven't given him any stool softeners it really helps to use for the first week or so. They sell Dulcoease over the counter. If not already then Use a foot stool for doing number 2s in toilet (cheapo kiddo one will do)
If lots of pain after toilet then- warm(or as hot as tolerates) sits bath or an ice pack (little tip is to half fill a latex glove and tie, pop in freezer) then apply it against the area. Hope he feels better soon!

kilojules · 03/03/2021 07:18

@Ninkanink

Carb-on footprint! Made me chuckle...
