Sorry about your Granny Athelstane Thanks

Outfit looks great though. Are you tall or is that a deceptive photo?

RagzReturnsRebooted · 07/03/2021 15:30
@RagzReturnsRebooted picture attached okay?

@BIWI I have REALLY struggled with headaches. It’s near enough daily since the 1st Jan. thank you for the advice! I’m going to definitely try that. Currently weight 12st 3lbs (was 13st 12) I’ll try adding to the spread sheet!
I only paid £3.99 for mine, I think different flavours are different prices. Cheaper than their website though. Also I have prime so free postage.

@BIWI I definitely noticed that with ibuprofen before. I wondered if it was the cause though or just linked to the inflammation for which we take it. But I certainly notice when I'm taking more ibuprofen I don't seem to lose as fast.

@AthelstaneTheUnready

I'm real too!

A shit photographer however - was just trying on some black stuff for Granny's funeral tomorrow. I remember on one of my first BCs BIWI posted a picture of herself in a bikini, on what looked like the back of a speedboat, and I nearly died of grief and envy Grin. That's the WOE for me, I thought.

NSV - that skirt barely did up just after Christmas, and is much looser now.

Welcome Libby!

What?! No that wasn't me! (Although I wish it was). Someone else lured you here on false pretences Grin

You look lovely - just sorry you're getting dressed up for a funeral Sad

Nah, just 5'5".

Not you, BIWI? Maybe it was Stunt. It was a pillar of the community, I'm sure.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 07/03/2021 15:53

Grin at the image of @BIWI in a bikini on a speedboat. Shame MN doesn't have avatars.
@AthelstaneTheUnready you look fab. Sorry about the funeral.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 07/03/2021 16:00

Having done an inadvertent 24+ fast (not intentional, just faffing about with other stuff), today's food is the most amazing roast beef from the butcher (the one I'm going to marry, you may remember, not that he knows that yet. And only for as long as he remains the local butcher.).

With shedloads of buttered sprouts and broccoli, roast garlic and a couple of roast carrots. Then sleeping over Netflix I suspect.

BIWI · 07/03/2021 16:40

Something really interesting popped up on my Facebook timeline today.

There are many benefits of a lower carb diet beyond weight loss, and lots of people on various Bootcamps have reported them.

The 'big' ones are lower blood pressure, prevention (or remission) of diabetes, and a lowered risk of cancer. But there's also Alzheimer's Disease - in some medical quarters called Type 3 Diabetes.

This is a piece of research that's just been conducted, exploring whether a ketogenic diet can help, and looks like it's proving that it can.

Posted by Nina Teicholz:

"Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the US. Sadly, all drug trials thus far have failed . This is the first clinical trial (RCT) using the keto diet which showed significant improvement in symptoms and quality of life… in just three months. This research needs replication, but at least it’s a promising start.

Published February 23, 2021. Title: Randomized crossover trial of a modified ketogenic diet in Alzheimer’s disease"

Thanks Athelstane! Pillar of the community - yes. Bikini on a speedboat - no. In fact I've never ever worn a bikini, not even tried one on!

Oneborneverydecade · 07/03/2021 17:28

@AthelstaneTheUnready the beef and the butcher sound delightful

I can totally imagine @StuntNun in a bikini on the back of a yacht. Is that weird? I have no minds eye so I can't actually imagine anything

@cheeseisthebest what are you wearing in the morning? I ordered a dress and some cropped jeans Grin

@RagzReturnsRebooted I'm 5'10 and agree about sizing. Someone here is over 6ft - maybe @ouchmyfeet?

Jeans and a new top and lovely new coatigan!

cheeseisthebest · 07/03/2021 17:44

I'm actually feel a bit sad about my kids going back tomorrow. They've driven me mad but I love their company and I'm going to miss them!

Oneborneverydecade · 07/03/2021 17:54

Tell me more about the coatigan! cheese Yes I feel the same about DS2.

StuntNun · 07/03/2021 18:05

Could everyone please stop imagining me in a bikini. I've had four children, three of them by Caesarean section... it would not be a pretty sight lol!

Epic food day today. Lunch was a burger with coleslaw and a cheese muffin for dessert. Man those things are lovely. I can't remember who suggested roasting them but they're even nicer split and toasted under the grill. Dinner was sous vide roast beef that I've been cooking at 56C for over 24 hours, with leeks in butter and celery braised in stock. One sneaky glass of red wine with dinner and I'm now relaxing with a pink gin courtesy of DH. Tomorrow will be hectic with everyone going back to school so this is very much the calm before the storm. I have cheeseburger pie and a bag full of "emergency" snacks to get me through lateral flow testing the entirely of years 7 and 8 tomorrow.

StuntNun · 07/03/2021 18:06

*Toasting the cheese muffins. I don't recommend roasting them, although apparently autoincorrect does.

Bestbees · 07/03/2021 18:16

I made the cheese muffins today. Froze 3 as I know otherwise I will eat them all!

@AthelstaneTheUnready I looked very closely at you as my husband is off to a funeral tomorrow. I dont think we are related!

I think the picture in the bikini is bigchocfrenzy of fasting boards 😊

Have had some yummy food this weekend - Hugh fw venesion stew yesterday, slow bbqed brisket today as well as the mentioned muffins.
Water water everyone!

ouchmyfeet · 07/03/2021 18:37

Lots to catch up on this thread . Lovely to see some of your faces and lovely clothes. Sorry to those who have to go to funerals.

It's not me who's 6 foot tall, I'm 5'10, same as @RagzReturnsRebooted . It was me having a moan earlier this week about being tall meaning that I have so much to lose to have a proper impact on my BMI. I've lost 24lbs so far and my clothes are more comfortable but I definitely haven't dropped a size yet. I reckon it'll be another 2 stone before I do that.

Good food day here. Had a mushroom salad with coleslaw and leftover chicken for lunch. I'll post the salad recipe on the veggie thread. Dinner was braised mince with buttered cabbage and a little bit of celeriac dauphinoise.

Ready for weigh in day. Not expecting the big shifts of the last 2 weeks but I'm okay with that at this point in my cycle.

Definitely going to have a read of this. I have family history of Alzheimer's and it scares me that my dad appears to be heading the same was as his parents
Doilooklikeatourist · 07/03/2021 19:21

Interesting read @BIWI , Alzheimer’s/ dementia in my family too ( dads side ) and bowel cancer mums side
Hoping not to get either , which is why I’m trying to lose weight , and get fitter

@stuntnun , I’m planking with bent arms , so elbows on the mat , and hands clasped in front of me

Good day , went for a very cold walk , DD came too , we had a good chat all the way round , then DH went for a walk , as he was having a lazy day , until he realised he’d only done 2000 steps , so she went out again with him , while I made us all a roast pork dinner( nice to have some time on my own to be honest ! )

Needs to top up the water , a couple more glasses then I’m done ✅

MothershipG · 07/03/2021 19:40

Excuse me just plopping in here but I need some ideas for Mothers' day. I'm suffering from an empty nest, my first Mothers' day without DC so I told DH he owes me a a nice low carb meal that isn't a roast.

What are your favourite special occasion low carb meals?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 07/03/2021 19:42

Some really lovely photos! You lot have done so well. No photos of me - I am not a happy sight, and will never look like most of the pictures posted so far!

I’ve been a pig today. I’ve STS more or less all week and now expect to see a gain tomorrow morning.

Brunch: small plates place with amazing food. DH absorbed the carb elements so I had a lovely mix of crab, carrot and kimchi omelette, scrambled eggs with chilli ‘dust’ and romesco sauce, smoked salmon with miso cream cheese and avocado, roasted spicy cauliflower and wild mushrooms, whipped goats cheese, and a melting burrata. Plus a flat white with actual milk. It was all gorgeous.

Dinner: slow roast lamb shoulder, celeriac dauphinoise, cauli cheese, roast carrots and tenderstem broccoli. And then, dammit, a tiny roast potato - DH had roasted the lamb on the oven shelf with the fat dripping on the potatoes and my willpower just deserted me.

So a day of lovely food but I await my punishment on the scale for week 8.

Mothership this chocolate mousse for dessert topped with raspberries and extra thick cream.

colouringindoors · 07/03/2021 19:46

Hi there

I've been low carbing the last fortnight and just wanted to ask can this woe affect your mood? I've been feeling pretty low the last two weeks, nothing else has changed so wondering if it was a carb thing? If so, any suggestions? Thank you!

MothershipG · 07/03/2021 20:15

@StuntNun That looks good!

So that's dessert sorted, any main course ideas?

nowlook · 07/03/2021 20:33

What kind of thing do you like @MothershipG ? If you want a general mooch, thread 4 of this bootcamp coincided with Valentines Day. Start from the end of that thread and work backwards! Prettybird had monkfish with celeriac dauphinois for example!
