@StuntNun I'm now going to try ROASTED muffins, basted in beef fat and in place of a roast potato - you're an accidental genius Grin

Thanks @nowlook

I'm not sure what I fancy so I need some inspiration.

And if he's not a good cook (I'm not), he'll struggle to go wrong with Ragz Dirty Fries TM @MothershipG Grin

Things that I've liked/were successful@MothershipG

Celeriac and leek mash
Shoogled sprouts
Spinach with shallots and bacon
Roasted radishes

Then pick your poison for meat/fish.

Sauce wise: I favour a cream, mushroom, shallot and blue cheese affair, but I'm greedy!

One pot dishes: chicken and cauli Alfredo; lamb and leek hotpot.

And Ragz dirty fries for any occasion

Just personal preference, obvs.

But there are some tremendous cooks on here who will blow your socks of with inspiration. I'm sure they'll be along shortly!

Nowlook that sounds so nice. I must have a steak with blue cheese sauce sometime.

After all the hair talk I've put a hair mask on my hair, just washed it out. Feels soft so will see how it is when its dried. But my hair looking really thin again, I've had an issue with this on and off for years and feel really fed up now! Not sure what could have caused it, wondering if I'm deficient in anything.

Have to catch up on the thread it's impossible af weekends with children at the moment. Normally I get a few hours between birthday parties and sports etc or if they go out to play with friends but nothing at the moment, it's fecking relentless.

B: scrambled eggs, bacon buttery mushrooms
D: roast chicken with keto queen yorkshire puds, cauliflower cheese, purple sprouting broccoli.
2 squares of 85% choc.

The keto queen yorkies were really good, didn't tell husband or children that I had followed a different recipe and they loved them. They tasted lighter than regular Yorkies. I used arrowroot powder and ground almonds (I whizzed the ground almonds with a stick blender to make them finer).

@colouringindoors

Hi there

I've been low carbing the last fortnight and just wanted to ask can this woe affect your mood? I've been feeling pretty low the last two weeks, nothing else has changed so wondering if it was a carb thing? If so, any suggestions? Thank you!

Sorry to hear you are feeling depressed.

I am often in a bad mood when I start low carb as transition to ketosis. Hopefully it will pass.

This video says most people do not suffer from depression. But some of the comments indicate that some people do suffer from depression. www.dietdoctor.com/can-get-depressed-low-carb-2

@colouringindoors tell us a bit more about yourself. Are you a chocolate lover who is missing it, do you normally eat pasta and sandwiches? Are you drinking lots of water, enjoying fresh green veg?

Coatigans - hate them!! Being short in stature they just don't work for me, look like I've gone out in my dressing gown Sad Blush

mirpuppet thank you - that's useful. I'm really hoping it will pass as this is the only way of loosing weight that I've found works. Maybe I'm going tooooo low carb???

venusandmars yes I'm definitely a chocolate lover, and cake. Yep, do eat sarnies pasta and was drinking more than the revommended amount (wine) so this is a really big change for my body. I'm making sure I'm drinking Loads of water. Having green salad every day and usually a green veg among daily veg, but could poss increase this.

I've always found that successfully HFLCing pulls me out of depression (and falling off the wagon, an indication that I'm slipping back into depression Sad).

I think it's due to the fact that HFLC gives me more energy and therefore I feel motivated to do more, feel more in control, which makes me feel more energised and so on. A virtuous circle Smile

It just goes to show that we all react differently. Wink

Anyway, earrings today were a Christmas 2018 present from dh (along with the matching necklace). Given all the other pictures people have ousted today, I've done a serious looking picture of this evening's outfit in honour of my dad coming over for dinner the highlight of our social calendar

@colouringindoors if it's the first few weeks, you may well get low mood almost as part of the carb flu. I think I did, but I also had pmt so it may have been that the change in hormones (from low carb) and the carb flu/sugar withdrawal was exacerbating it. 5 weeks in and my mood is now better than it has been in over a year. More energy and generally brighter. But that took a good 3-4 weeks to kick in.

Food today, not enough veg or water. Was busy being useful (unlike me for a weekend!)
Lunch - pork crack (not burned this time), few spoons of Greek yogurt.
Dinner - my meatballs in sauce with shredded savoy cabbage fried in lots of oil and butter.

Have ordered a 1 litre water bottle. Glass, with a neoprene travel sleeve.
@StuntNun I did the dead bug thing, definitely a good alternative.
@BIWI the dementia study was interesting, will print a copy for a colleague as she (same GP I 'cured' with electrolytes!) was talking about how it runs in her family and she's worried about it. I suggested a sugar free diet and got a very odd look in response, so would be nice to have some evidence. I know this study was treatment rather than prevention, but preventing Alzheimers is one reason I'm planning to keep up low carb long term.
@cheeseisthebest I love the coatigan! Please update when it arrives.

Morning all.
After my wobbly complaining last week I am down a pound this week! The main difference is more fasting but I will leave that chat for the other thread. Hclf has allowed me to do it though.

Fingers crossed for everyone today!

My scales have refused to budge and as I've just finished week 2 I was hoping to see a loss.

I'm drinking at least 3L of water and apart from dark choc on Sat and zero hydration tabs when I run I'm sticking to plan I think!!

Is it portion sizes?? As presumably you need to be in calorie deficit to burn fat even if you're in ketosis??

Morning boot campers! 0.9 loss for me today so still heading in the right direction and now within reach of the top end of a healthy bmi. Hooray. However, I have been knackered and although keeping low carb I'm not eating enough veg or drinking enough water at work. Confessing that here to try and keep me accountable. Feel like I have hit a bit of a motivation wall in the last few days. Anyone got any tips for breaking through? I usually use my cold showers for a morning buzz but haven't been able to face it over the weekend and now it's Monday. Wah
