@JengaCupboard
Hi all… following last weeks advice I sacked off the yoghurt/fruit/nut and devil honey breakfast combo and lo and behold – 2.5lb down in the 6 days or whatever since I first posted. I do understand the concept of training your tastebuds away from sweet things, however I am struggling with the water consumption, and aside from the synthetic sweetener issue, will it actually impede my weight loss to drink sugar free squash/cordial? Or these seemingly calorie free flavoured waters (Volvic etc.?) I just really struggle with plain water…
I think I’m doing pretty well with main meals, and not only am I rarely hungry but my appetite has definitely decreased. I have also tried the super low calorie/tiny carb value noodles and rice you can get in the white packets from Sainsburys… not actually too bad at all just a tad pricey and definitely need rinsing first…
Also made a vat of soup in the slow cooker for work lunch using courgette, pepper, cauli plus garlic, ginger, blue dragon red curry paste pot (the small wax disc looking ones) coriander stalks, full fat coconut milk, lime juice and chicken stock. Pretty pleased – hopefully I’m on the right track with this being good in principal also?
Lastly, I appreciate 8-9g of carb is quite a lot depending on the flavour, but if used in moderation/if no other practical option is available (I spend a lot of work time driving and sometimes eat nothing/end up at the services) are those ‘carb killa’ protein shakes terribly bad? The bars have loads of carb so clearly out, but 8-9g if very little else consumed doesn’t seem hideous, and what’s with the ‘carb killa’ bit… any benefit? Thanks very much…
@JengaCupboard glad that it worked for you!
Your soup sounds good - but the rest of your post worries me.
Bootcamp is about eating good, natural food - not processed or artificial stuff, which is what you're doing if you're including the squash and the shakes.
Sorry, but if you're going to eat/drink this stuff then you're not following Bootcamp rules. There is a reason why those rules are there!
Avoidance of artificial sweeteners is important, not just because we're training our tastebuds away from sweet things, but also because there is some suggestion that our bodies can respond to them as if they were actual sugar, i.e. with an insulin spike.
They're also not good for your gut biome see here
The 'killa' part of Carbkilla is just part of the brand name! It doesn't mean that the product does anything else.
You may be on the road a lot, but you'll need to find ways around that I'm afraid. Plenty of others here also have to do that! Lots of service stations these days have an M&S food, and there are lots of things available there that are Bootcamp-friendly.
