Geoff I buy Thomy mayo, because I like the taste and the packaging makes me feel like I'm vaguely continental

Dreamqueen · 02/03/2021 08:28

Checking in for accountability, Day 2 )f Biwi challenge done & day 1 of Yoga with Adrienne. You're all so motivational. Double checkd on the scales this morning & I'm so happy with my losses since starting.

Off to check the yoghurt & mayonnaise now.

Todays food
B-coffee with cream & cheese omelette.
L-bacon in a cloud roll thingy with salad
D- salmon with spinach, mushrooms & tomatoes.

Planning to do the Delia chicken recipe tomorrow.

OverweightPidgeon · 02/03/2021 08:44

I’ve only gone and lost 3 pounds ! I am amazed and happy.

LittleMy77 · 02/03/2021 08:51

Thanks @1stMrsF and @BIWI

My lunches are usually

(Yesterday) home made veg soup, with serious pig cheese crackers (just cheese no crackers!) mashed swede and carrot made with butter and creme fraiche, bit of left over roast chicken, spinach with olive oil on

It’s usually a variation on the above; soup and then leftover meat / smoked salmon / ham or I cook halloumi, and then salad or veggies, depending on what’s in the fridge

cheeseisthebest · 02/03/2021 08:51

Well done pidgeon!
I am staving, stupid pasta!

Might try and use courgetti with a nice creamy pasta sauce sometime. It's the sauce that's nice isnt it!

OverweightPidgeon · 02/03/2021 09:05

Thank you @cheeseisthebest . I’ve got a bit of a headache this morning so I’m guessing my body is adapting.
I had an odd thing happen last night, I was craving something sweet after I had my dinner and then suddenly I sort of felt the craving just disappear, it just stopped- weird!

Ninkanink · 02/03/2021 09:31

@OverweightPidgeon that will be ‘carb flu’ (withdrawals). Have a cup of warm stock/bovril, it should help. Also use lots of salt in your cooking and if it continues for more than a few days to a week get yourself an electrolyte supplement. Congratulations on your loss, it’s great isn’t it! Don’t worry if you see temporary gains along the way, that’s generally how it works.

Congrats to all the campers having their hard-earned whooshes! 🎉

Keep the faith everyone! 🌷

I’ve been merrily squirrelling away the pounds over the past few days (started a few days early), so my challenge is going well.

Lyrata · 02/03/2021 09:43

Feeling a bit demotivated and flat this week. I thought it was just a hangover yesterday but the feeling has lingered. I don’t feel particularly inspired by any of the food that I have and my anxiety is bad.

I was weirdly bloated yesterday, I don’t know if it was the cauliflower. I haven’t noticed that happen from cauliflower before! Feeling all uncomfortable and weird in my body as a result - I didn’t recognise myself when I looked in the mirror.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 02/03/2021 09:56

Well done, @OverweightPidgeon!

Yesterday's meals were porky:

Lunch: SLC bread toastie with roast pork, leftover cauli cheese and a tiny bit of Boursin added. I love cauli cheese toasties.

Dinner: This gorgeous recipe (minus the balsamic): www.eatyourbooks.com/library/recipes/1709336/warm-eggs-roast-tomatoes- Plus some roast pork, and more SLC bread in place of the sourdough. I'm a bit worried I had four slices yesterday, as I hadn't realised we'd be having it for dinner, but I haven't had it at all for a week so am giving myself a break.

Plus two batons of Hotel Chocolat 85% chocolate dunked in peanut butter, because I'd had a shitty day and needed something

A bit veg light. Today will be better.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 02/03/2021 09:58

Thanks for @ZiggZagg: hope you feel better today.

I'm starting antibiotics for a chest thing today, so hoping they don't upset my insides too much.

@ChristMyArse I'm so pleased your stand-off has finished. It's awful living with that sort of tension. Good luck with your MRIs.

@Lyrata I think demotivated & flat is probably a widespread feeling atm. Times is hard Thanks

I'm not going to join in with a challenge, as whenever I do something like that I immediately get ill, then I feel miserable. Sod's law.

However, I exercise with the kids every day, & I'm enjoying reading about all your challenges.

Might try the cold shower thing! 🥶

BIWI · 02/03/2021 09:59
@cheeseisthebest Asda sell Fage 5% it's proper Greek yoghurt and is delicious!
@ZiggZagg

... but 5% is too low in terms of fat

For some reason Fage/Total stopped making their 10% fat one. You'd be far better off buying the premium Greek yoghurt that the supermarkets all sell under their own label.

@FusionChefGeoff

I'm nervous that I've opened Pandora's box re mayonnaise @BIWI is shop Mayo off the list if it contains any sugar?? Aldi version is less than 1.5g per 100g and I think making my own might be a step too far even for me and I'm pretty cheffy!

Shop bought is fine - just keep an eye on the carb counts though, as they can vary quite a lot.

However, if you're pretty cheffy, making your own is actually a doddle! blender mayonnaise recipe uk Here's an example recipe which works if you have a hand blender (or probably in a food processor)

Just don't use extra virgin olive oil as this recipe suggests, as it's too bitter. You're much better using a flavourless oil.

Sorry that you're not feeling great.

Are you drinking all the water? Sometimes if you're bloated it can mean - counter intuitively! - that you need to drink more.

Plus two batons of Hotel Chocolat 85% chocolate dunked in peanut butter, because I'd had a shitty day and needed something

You need to be careful here - I know that we allow chocolate in moderation during Bootcamp Light, but this 'need' is something you should watch.

Eating chocolate or drinking alcohol (or taking drugs) stimulates the reward centre of the brain to release dopamine. That's why we crave these things.

Funny, though, that we don't crave broccoli, isn't it?!

OP posts:
BIWI · 02/03/2021 10:21

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch

Sorry you're still not 100%. If you're taking antibiotics, it would be a good idea to see if you can get some probiotics as well. Something like acidophilus - not stuff like Yakult or Actimel.

here's a piece about antibiotics and probiotics

Don't know if you have a health food shop or a Holland & Barrett near you (or maybe you can get them online!) but it's definitely worth looking into.

@cheeseisthebest

BIWI my husband is vegan so doesnt eat meat fish or dairy which isnt compatible with what I'm eating! Thank you for yoghurt info will have to make sure I get the right one next time. We do online Asda shop not sure they do any other will have to check or try somewhere else.
@cheeseisthebest

And I say again - why are other people's needs more important than yours? You say you were lazy, but you still cooked pasta for everyone else. Why not cook your food first?

If your DH is a vegan, does he actually cook his own food?!

You mustn't fall into the trap of thinking that you come after everyone else. This is your health we're talking about here

Haven't weighed in yet this week as DS has had me up before 6am the last two days... probably just as well as I've been a total carby twat over the weekend for my eldest DS birthday. I'll not list it as it's total carb porn Blush Back to strict BC for me. Have decided to run 100km in March challenge in support of breast cancer. 5k down yesterday, think I'll do some yoga with Adriene today... have also taken some electrolytes that were recommended in case my strict BC bites back this week

Thanks BIWI.

I eat live yoghurt every day, and have a lot of prebiotics in my diet, but might look into some supplements.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 02/03/2021 10:47

@BIWI I haven't had any chocolate at all for over a fortnight so I don't think I'm in danger of falling down a hole. I almost never comfort eat - this was a real exception for me. In the whole of bootcamp (apart from Valentine's Day) my entire chocolate consumption has been five batons!

ListenLinda · 02/03/2021 11:03

I have a question, if a seasoned bootcamper could help!

Last night before bed I got stomach cramps/spasms that weren’t a barrel of laughs but weren’t overly painful. Google tells me i’m dehydrated but i dont know... i had 3litres of water yesterday 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have I done something wrong? It can’t be a carb consumption issue as i didnt have any non allowed foods? It started when i was eating a bloody salad dressed with oil & mayo Grin

BIWI · 02/03/2021 11:09

I don't think you can put that down to low carbing @ListenLinda. It's more likely to be a bug. Someone I speak with on another forum has been experiencing exactly the same, but they're not low carbing.

Something that always helped me when I was suffering with IBS cramping was hot water with a slice of lemon. It seems to soothe everything, and help everything to 'unclench' IYSWIM! For me, whenever I had a really bad attack, it was often related to emotional stress - is all well with you on that front?

I'm always surprised/often saddened by how quickly various ailments are blamed on low carbing. Illustrates that people still don't really trust it as a healthy WOE (not you, ListenLinda, just a general observation)
