Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

@ShagMeRiggins I was married 10 years ago at 24. I didn't diet really for me wedding but was pretty unhappy. Dh and my dad both had cancer (now both well). Dh was in an isolation ward an hour away from us for a large bit of the year so I would work (first year of teaching) then drive to see him and repeat. Then go support my mum and dad at the weekend. So I was thinner. But younger and sadder. So really why would I want that I guess! I did get to 9.7 a couple of years ago through intermittent fasting. I looked and felt good. But it didn't last. I guess if I can eat like this and be this weight for ever that has to be better than getting heavier.

@Lyrata yes to everything you say about the magic of the 9s. Bastards! Your food looks lovely, must get some cod in.

Have walked 8k and cycled 15km today. Feel good. Thanks ladies.

Bestbees I am so happy to hear both your father and husband are now well. You went through a hell of a lot.

Do you think you might want that magic number so you can revisit it now that you’re happy? I don’t know. That was very armchair psychologist of me to ask. Blush

I think you look wonderful. It sounds as though you’re active and healthy. And we know you’re eating well.

Don't be too hard on yourself Oneborneverydecade. Yes they weren't good food choices but lack of sleep does tend to disrupt your hunger hormones and send you towards the carbs. Someone said on the terrible obesity-vaccination thread that they only started losing weight when they got a CPAP machine because the sleep disruption caused by untreated sleep apnoea makes you hungry and crave carbs to make up the energy from missing out on sleep. I know a night of disturbed sleep makes me much hungrier and bizarrely makes me sweat much more than usual.

No need to fret about macros Pidgeon it's all taken care of in BIWI's Bootcamp rules.

@Oneborneverydecade toast is hard to quit! You didn't ruin everything and you can just step back on with us. When I am tired I try to let me self eat unlimited within low carb if that makes sense. So big cheesy omelette for breakfast. So I don't fall into the carbs.

@ShagMeRiggins good question. Maybe... Some thinking to be done here. Thank you for your kind words.

Welcome @OverweightPidgeon soon to be perfectweightpidgeon.

@StuntNun I have been mad hungry today and sure it is because I slept badly last night.

Yes it will be Bestbees. Lack of sleep or poor quality sleep spikes your cortisol (stress hormone) which then raises your insulin level. When your insulin levels fall again it triggers a hunger response and carb cravings as if your blood glucose had dropped too low.

I made such a wonderful dinner tonight. Indian stuffed lamb breast with sag paneer, Indian chimmichurri and Bombay spiced mashed cauliflower (www.harighotra.co.uk/stuffed-breast-of-lamb-recipe)

I highly recommend the lamb breast recipe linked above. It was so cheap - £9 or so for a kilogram of lamb breast. I did have to bone it myself but that was a weirdly pleasant challenge!

@Bestbees you look amazing!!!

Definitely stop worrying about the number and enjoy your fabulous figure and your fabulous food Smile

Sounds like that last few pounds will be hellish to lose and probably quite hard to maintain and therefore totally demoralising for very little benefit.

All day I meant to sit down at the computer so I could have easy search facilities rather than being on my phone where it’s a colossal pain in the arse to reply to posts if you’ve been awol.

Anyway, pretty ird I love the belt, your figure looks gorgeous, and quite frankly I’m partial to what seems to be your longer hairstyle. If it’s not your preference, fine, but great work!

Athelstane you bloody flatter me have to say that because you tower over me and in no way do I do out-anything you other than—possibly—talk too much.

Am happy to be one of the Tussian dolls. I’ve always wondered if a column with height would be helpful on the spreadsheet because there’s so much focus on weight.

There’s that great link/site that has people showing photos with height/weight/size, etc. A fantastic visual about body type and how the numbers don’t mean as much as we think. Anyone know what I mean?

Finally—and this is with BIWI’s permission—I’m going to offer a free Zoom group Bootcamp for anyone interested in a Style boost. I will lay out specifics tomorrow in the new thread.

KOKO. WATER, ALWAYS WATER.

@Lyrata that looks amazing! My husband is excellent at waitrose bargains and quite often gets lamb breast so will have a go. I currently have lamb neck simmering in the slow cooker which will become celeriac topped spice shepherd's pie. I really enjoy using the cheaper cuts of meat and turning them into something fab. Dh does an epic slab of brisket smoked on the bbq for hours. Divine!

@FusionChefGeoff summed it up exactly!

Anyone else mentally salute @ShagMeRiggins whenever she hollers 'Water!v??

Really wanted to go for a run this morning but thanks to my insomnia was completely shattered. I'm sure all the sleep depriviation must be doing havoc to my cortisol and slowing the weight loss. Hoping the eating/water and exercise will balance it out.

Lunch: home made low carb bread sandwich with sardines mashed with butter. Almond muffin from this thread buttered. Veg
Dinner: Surf and Turf- rib eye steak with garlic prawns. Buttered tenderstem, spinach with Boursin and a grilled portobello mushroom.

I know it's off the menu but had to have a glass of Coke Zero.

I decided to take a day away from my phone and it was absolutely the best idea. Had a lovely walk in the sunshine and did some batch cooking for a full on strict week of bootcamp.

I normally can just blank those awful threads out, I'm not sure why it got to me this morning. I think sometimes the scale of my weight problem dawns on me as I'm both fat and tall so have SO MUCH to lose. StuntNun mentioned people who have managed to lose up to 6 stone on bootcamp. I've lost a stone and a half so far and need to lose the same again just to get me out of the morbidly obese category. If I lost 6 stone I'd still be firmly in the obese category, not even closing in on overweight. To get to a healthy weight I need to lose 10.5 stone in total, a whole person.

That's just to put it in perspective. Having read all your brilliant comments, I'm thoroughly energised and motivated again and in it for the long haul. I will be that bloody 1% Shag and if I had a laminator I would definitely follow orders . This has been the easiest stone and a half I've ever lost and I do feel like something has clicked and I could continue to eat like this long term. Hopeislost's BMI of 27 is amazing after being offered bariatric surgery and making me see that Hope is definitely not lost. Thanks for that info on the study nowlook , I will definitely have a read.

My evening has picked up as just had an unexpectedly early email confirming my DS has a place at his first choice school! Very glad not to have to wait up till midnight to log on and check.

Bit of a random food day today:

Lunch: leftover celeriac mash, leeks and corned beef
Tea: 2 pork chops with leftover turnip dauphinoise and ratatouille.

Probably not enough water.

The ratatouille came from the freezer pre bootcamp so it had breadcrumbs on the top. I scraped most of them off so hopefully not too damaging. It tastes really sweet so I think my tastebuds must be changing. Don't really eat tinned tomatoes, red peppers or red onions any more, think I'll use green peppers and shallots next time I make it.

Shag I even tucked my shirt into my belted jeans today after your fab style session last year. Wink And then untucked it again to hide my tummy lol but it's a start. I also bought an eyebrow pencil and even used it once but that's more to do with lockdown than lack of being willing on my part. I've even worn a scarf a few times. Now I just need someone to buy me some chunky jewellery and I'll be all set to make a style statement.

Also I agree with Shag that weight really doesn't mean as much as all that because body composition has such a huge effect. When I was 25 and 9st 6lb my figure was completely different to when I was 37 and the same weight. Four pregnancies had taken their toll on my tummy and I would have had a higher fat percentage and lower amount of muscle. So even though I had reached my weight loss "target" I needed to lose a bit more fat and gain some muscle to achieve the figure I was aiming for. Equally if you've taken up exercise or become more active thanks to e.g. counting your steps daily, then you might not need to lose as much weight as you think to get to your ideal figure.

Kilojules disturbed sleep definitely does affect your weight loss but it won't stop it dead. I gained a ridiculous amount of weight in my last pregnancy but lost it all again in less than a year on low carb despite having two rubbish sleepers at that point since DS3 was only 2.5 when DS4 was born and he didn't sleep through the night until he was 5. I'm pretty sure I'm still catching up on the sleep debt from DS3.

Love this thread! Having taken a nose dive off the wagon at 3am this morning i can confirm the effect of tiredness on seriously crap eating choices. I wasn't even hungry when I inhaled half of a family sized cheesecake- just home from a 18 hour shift.
As this wasn't a minor blip I'm wondering if I should go back to bc strict to get back to where I should be? I enjoy this woe and had really got into the swing of it. Its ridiculous that there are no excuses other than it was there!!!

Behold the character Tim Riggins from the US series about American football, Friday Night Lights.

One time, at Bootcamp Wink, there was a side conversation about telly and it turned out another bootcamper was a fan of said series, as was I. She asked how much I loved Riggins and I namechanged there and then. Have stuck with it for quite some time.

It’s not his looks. It’s very much the character he portrayed in the show. Talk about someone who had resilience and was a work in progress. Dang. #texasforever

Anyway, it’s not because I’m a pirate even though I am .

Confusing enough? Grin
