Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

@Bestbees don't forget you can always do press ups on your knees.

By the way, the site I found has three plans - easy, medium and hard. The one I've gone for is (I think) them medium one. So you could always ramp it up or down, depending on how hard/easy you find it!

Waaah, I want to be Hopeislost!

cheeseisthebest, I think you are winning atm, yes. Grin

I made a chocolate mousse tonight - very unlike me to have puddings, but feeling a bit nostalgic for my mother's 1970's dinner party food. We weren't allowed downstairs but could have some of the pudding the next day if there was any left over.

Anyway, adapted it using 100% Montezuma with cocoa nibs and orange, just 4 teaspoons sugar, 3 egg yolks, and a large dollop of butter. All melted up, then the egg whites whisked and folded in.

My god it was rich. Delicious, but only managed about 5 teaspoons of it. There's enough left for another 7 or 8 helpings, but with the raw egg, it's not going to last!

BIWI · 27/02/2021 21:46

Could you not freeze it? Would be like ice-cream then.

That bring back such memories of my mums dinner parties! Listening from upstairs and wanting to join in!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/02/2021 21:51

@BIWI

Hmmm, google says yes to freezing raw egg mousse. But google also says raw eggs can weep when defrosting. Confused

I feel like a terrible person now, making eggs weep. Sad

It's in there - sometimes you just have to make the column wider for cells that have a lot of lines in. I've done that now, so you should be able to see.

1stMrsF · 27/02/2021 22:05

@prettybird I love the idea of measuring after Pilates - I've always been short, but perhaps I can find some extra height?

@nowlook You are invited to join the yoga challenge!

@FusionChefGeoff I second making salad bowls with sandwich/wrap ingredients. It does mean you need a fork, but it works well and is also portable in a lunchbox (when we are in a time where that matters...)

Food and water has not been the best today, I am not even going to share it. I've headed for bed with some sleepy tea and I will do better tomorrow.

mirpuppet · 27/02/2021 22:13

I wanted to pop in and join officially. I decided to do low carb for lent so started 1.5 weeks ago.

I have luckily had a big whoosh down 8 pounds. I know some of it is water weight but I feel fantastic.

A special thanks to BIWI. I joined low carb boot camp way back in 2014 and remembered the excellent resources which I referred to again for this weight loss journey.

Cheers everyone.

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/02/2021 22:20

Thanks @AthelstaneTheUnready

RagzReturnsRebooted · 28/02/2021 00:49

I'm going to have to pick an exercise, aren't I? Tempted by the Planking one @StuntNun posted or the mixture @BIWI linked to. Though now I see it has an easy option I'm thinking I may need that one! Will have to Google the Russian twist thing. When I did karate our warm up was really good and I got quite fit, that was years ago now and I'm rather nervous to see how much I've declined!

Breakfast - bowl of pork crack
Lunch - salad with airfried chorizo, olives and goats cheese.
Dinner - (photo) chicken in a cream and sundried tomato sauce with a whole bag of spinach wilted in butter. I'm not keen on spinach due to the texture, but I needed the potassium.
Wierd lip twitching seems to be going away as it was barely there yesterday, haven't noticed it today and headache hasn't bothered me the last few days, so hopefully both are over.

Jollyholibobs · 28/02/2021 05:52

For my challenge I plan to donate or discard an item of clothing every day. I was initially excited by the ‘wear something different every day’. Then it dawned on me that I would enjoy it immensely and that there was no challenge there. I love clothes and have too many. I try to wear something I love every day and full makeup even when working from home as it makes me feel good. I have loads that are unworn clothes from lock down impulse shopping. Also it’s partly from a time where I bought clothes to make myself better. Crazily I usually bought a size too small. Then they didn’t fit and I felt worse about myself. I have 3 sizes and I need to cull. I have also set my self a challenge for the rest of 2021 not to buy any new clothes. That is fine because I went mad in January and have a lot of new stuff in a size that fits. I should probably do it for 5 years not 10 months.

@prettybird I meant to say love the velvet jeans and satin blouse combo beautiful colour. You look great. I hope you have somewhere nice to go soon to show it off.

MrsOmelette · 28/02/2021 06:06

Hi @mirpuppet, you’re an old hand at bootcamp then, how are you finding it this time?
I’m so tired and achy from fighting with my neighbours blasted Attack Brambles all afternoon yesterday - definitely counts as vigorous exercise! My challenge is dog-walking, I’ll do it as an extra to my husband’s standard walks to give the dog a real treat bless her. Yesterday’s food: B - leftover bolognese, L - egg salad, D - bacon wrapped chicken breast stuffed with tonnes of garlic soft cheese. Was yum. Today: B - granola, L - corned beef & coleslaw, D - sausage casserole.

Lyrata · 28/02/2021 07:15

I can’t see a chicken photo @RagzReturnsRebooted!

I weigh on Sundays and I’ve lost another 2lbs. I’m now 9 stone 1 and 3/4. I’m really pleased. I’m now lighter than I ever have been in my adult life. My waist is also down to 23-24 inches depending on how hard I pull the tape.

ListenLinda · 28/02/2021 07:17

Well done @Lyrata Smile

Lyrata · 28/02/2021 07:22

I’m super pleased ListenLinda! Also the last time I was close to this weight, I was on a hideous calorie restricted diet. I was so scared of overeating I remember, I would go and loiter in Hotel Chocolat for the free chocolates because I knew that way I would only be able to have one. If I bought chocolate, I’d eat the whole packet. Unfortunately I’m very recognisable with my red hair - god knows what they thought of me.

My relationship with food is definitely a work in progress but it’s so much better on this WOE. Despite the odd bit of difficulty resisting yogurt, at least I don’t find myself going and getting the free samples from frozen yogurt shops! (Not that one could right now).

StuntNun · 28/02/2021 08:16

I forgot to post my food again yesterday.
B: none as 16:8
L: crab and prawn soup, cheese almond muffin, kefir
D: ribeye steak with loads of ratatouille

The ratatouille was well worth the effort of slicing. It didn't take that long to prepare in the end and will easily do DH and I for three meals. It was good with the steak but I think it would go even better with pork chops. After the first 30-minute cook time I transferred a third into a smaller container and added the cheese for the second 30-minute cook time. So the other two portions will only need a bit of cheese sprinkled over and 30-minutes in the oven to finish them off.

@FusionChefGeoff 5lb off amaze! Well done

@Ninkanink you’re right! Do need to be kinder to myself! Thanks for reminder. Closing eyes and taking more photos showing lots of skin :)

@1stMrsF happened to so many! I’m sure everyone understands. Hope you’re feeling better today

@Pandoraslastchance sorry to hear the weight has stalled. It’s really disappointing not seeing results when you’re working hard. Are you able to do any exercise at all?

@AthelstaneTheUnready your choc pudding made me salivate!! I’ve been strict with no treats since starting but I think I’m going to make a teensy portion. Just for medicinal purposes Ofcourse!

@mirpuppet that’s amazing loss! And we’ll done @Lyrata! I can’t believe my waist was twice yours at my highest weight

Another hand here for 30day shred. Hard to start but gets results. It took me 2months to get to level 3 tho when I started. Tip is to lower the volume or mute Gillians voice so you’re not tempted to karate chop her face. I mean the tv

Happy Sunday everyone! Looks like another lovely day ☀️

ouchmyfeet · 28/02/2021 08:26

That's brilliant @Lyrata, well done!

I'm feeling a bit glum this morning, read a fat bashing thread on the coronavirus section and I really shouldn't have Sad.

Apart from the general reminder about what a burden on society I am, how it's all completely my own fault, and the viciousness and lack of empathy of some people, I'm thoroughly depressed by a poster who said that a woman with a BMI over 40 has a 1% chance of getting to a healthy weight Confused

Obviously no source quoted, so it could be absolute crap, but it has left me feeling a bit defeated when I've hardly got started. I feel like I have such a huge mountain to climb and I don't think I can get to the top. Not the right mindset I know, I'll feel better tomorrow. It's probably not helping that I'm waiting for school allocation news tonight/tomorrow for my DS so that is playing on my mind too.

I'm going to get out and have a big walk in the sunshine, hope you all have a good day

StuntNun · 28/02/2021 08:52

Well she's wrong Ouchmyfeet! I've been on these threads since 2013 and my last job was a diet coach and I can confidently assure you that with low carb you can lose the weight and keep it off. We've had people lose 3 stone, 4 stone, even 6 stone simply by following the Bootcamp rules. Yes, when you get close to your ideal weight it can get more tricky to keep weight loss going but even then you'll be much happier at that weight that you feel about your weight right now. I'm about 8lb above where I would really like to be but my clothes fit well, my figure is good, my health is better, exercise is easier etc etc etc. I went on a trampoline with my five-year-old DS on Friday and I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to be able to jump up and down without all my wobbly bits flobbing up and down to it. Ouchmyfeet you can do it and you will do it if you stick with us.

FusionChefGeoff · 28/02/2021 08:54

@ouchmyfeet ignore them - in fact stick two fingers up at them and get out proving them wrong. Some sunshine, vit D and endorphins plus a day of being good to yourself and your body. I'd imagine that figure is a load of crap too.

@mirpuppet welcome - I'm new too! Few days behind you but we can buddy up!

Off to attempt a long run now which I'm nervous about. I'm going to have some buttery eggs now but will also be taking some energy gels in case of emergency.

B: buttery eggs
L: Greek style salad
D: beef casserole, celeriac mash, cabbage, green beans

1stMrsF · 28/02/2021 08:56

@ouchmyfeet that thread was toxic (as is almost everything in that topic at the moment). I started reading it and forced myself to leave. Remember that most people (presumably who are also genetically disposed to being thin) who think such thoughts have believed the eat less move more propaganda we've been told for years. They don't understand that LCHF is what works. You can do this and you will succeed. I hope your walk lifts your mood Flowers

nowlook · 28/02/2021 09:22

@ouchmyfeet

I'm not going to look for that shitty thread. Here's the research they were talking about I imagine.

Now, pin back your ears:

  1. This was just a summary of data from GP practices;
  2. It draws absolutely no distinction between those trying to lose weight and those not trying;
  3. The research found that intervention methods currently used by gps were not working (excluding surgery).

The authors acknowledge many limitations of the research.

Stick with us.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/02/2021 09:22

You don't have a mountain to climb @ouchmyfeet! You already climbed it getting to where you are!

Now all you have to do is stroll down, admiring the views along the way, and stopping for a coffee on the occasional plateau. Flowers
