Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead
Flowers

Liking the March challenge. I think mine will be foot related - dealing with dry skin, horrid toenails, itchy patches - all ready for summer footwear. It's easier to bury feet in warm socks and ignore them, so doing something kind for them every day would be good.

I've had a very disrupted day, not much has gone to plan. I had a meeting to go to at 10am. I would normally fast 16:8 but felt really hungry this morning, and the feeling wouldn't go away, so I ate breakfast. The meeting overran so my planned walk along the coastal cliffs (near to where the meeting was) got shortened. My urgent trip to the Post Office before it closed at 2pm was completely wiped out by a massive queue kicking myself for prioritising the walk over the Post Office Ate my packed lunch at 2.30pm - but only ate half of it because I was running late for next meeting. I was planning seabass for tea but was too late for the fish shop. And 4pm walk with dd and dgc got cancelled because dgs was laying on the floor yelling and refusing to get up.

On the bright side, the sun has been shining, and it looks like it will be nice weather here over the weekend.

B - coffee with cream; cheese and ham and cucumber 'sandwich' (buttered cheese slices with ham and cucumber in between)
late lunch - half a portion of salad and coleslaw with cheese and ham
D - sort of chicken kiev, roasted cauliflower, butter cabbage, a little bit of beetroot.

venusandmars · 26/02/2021 17:18

@ListenLinda mushrooms are always your friend Grin But seriously, testing is brutal and it is awful to have to inflict that distress on your children, so Flowers for you and Star for dc.

Great ideas prettybird - 'free' money is such a delight.

Just about to get off mumsnet my backside and enjoy a walk in the evening light.

FusionChefGeoff · 26/02/2021 17:26

Oooh @Jollyholibobs yes that was me! I'm half marathon training and was trying to improve my time but failed to hit the speed repeats yesterday. Felt so much better after the exercise though decided to hit them again today and was much more successful!

Got a long one on Sunday is that madness or might I be fat adapted enough (is that a thing??). What the hell do you eat though as I feel sick with most things and had perfected a nuts / banana / milk shake that was perfect plus gels. What should I try instead?

L: leftover creamy chicken curry with roasted cauli and leftover cheese omelette (busy day!)
D: roasted chicken legs with celeriac chips and FLGV

Assuming what I know of mumsnet and the rules I'm guessing that means Fuck Loads Green Veg?!?!?

Oh, last question - can I have a tiny bit of ketchup or no??

Worth going out for...

Week 6 Low CarbBootcamp - the second half
ListenLinda · 26/02/2021 17:51

@venusandmars they are today, i fried them in butter and then went all crispy and were just mouthwatering!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 26/02/2021 18:20

Came home from work to find DH has made my dinner! A low carb 'lasagne' with aubergine layers (which he coated in flavoured oil and airfried first) and a cheese sauce made with cream cheese, cream, cheese and goats cheese. He was very proud of himself. There was some cheese sauce left so I ate that from the pam, delicious! The goats cheese really worked. I'd been expecting a panicked text asking how to make my dinner, but he googled it all. Top marks. Can't wait to eat it with some salad.

I'm trying to get him to LC with me but he keeps making excuses. He could do with losing a stone at least and it would probably help his mood (bipolar with mostly depression). I shall keep teasing him with my lovely food until he gives in!

LostaraYil · 26/02/2021 18:24

Just catching up as I've fallen into lurking. Fab photos, Ragz and prettybird! My 15yo DS found the test quite traumatic, so Flowers to ListenLinda!
I'm up for a 30 day challenge, I'd like to join someone for an exercise one if you choose a specific one! I did some form of exercise on top of the dog walk every day in January but have only done the occasional workout through February due to general lack of motivation.
It's been lovely here for a couple of days and I have booked DH to help me with some gardening at the weekend. I have a couple of big trees that I need to prune and am dreading climbing up a ladder with a saw as I hate heights and can imagine so many ways it could go wrong. At least I weigh less so DH will have an easier time holding the ladder and catching me if I fall Grin.

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/02/2021 19:22

Started the day by falling into the carby twat trap and had toast for breakfast , luckily things got better as ....
Drum roll please...
I ran 5k without stopping in just over 34 minutes , considering I’m an unfit , chubby 60 year old who hates exercise , I am extremely proud of myself ( and the zombies didn’t catch me )

Had poached eggs , bacon and avocado for lunch
The ratatouille ( aged from yesterday ) which a spoonful of rose harissa added and sour cream and grated cheddar on top , thanks @Ninkanink ( I think ) for the recipe

@prettybird , I love the lipstick idea ( I did red lipstick September , basically red lipstick every day in September surprisingly enough ! )
It does make you feel better though , a bit of self care

Will give the plank challenge a go. Can just about manage one minute at the moment , it will only get better !

Weather has been good today , which makes me think my March challenge has to be skin / moisturising/ touch of self tan , with a home done manicure and pedicure

ShagMeRiggins · 26/02/2021 19:23

Jaysus Mary & Joseph. Eight pages to catch up with?

I’ll be back!

Oneborneverydecade · 26/02/2021 19:30

@ListenLinda my best friend is a mushroom, he's such a fungi

Sorry

Oneborneverydecade · 26/02/2021 19:32

Well done! @Doilooklikeatourist that's fab. I walked 5k with the youngest DC today and said at the end there's no way I could run that far.

I think I'll join you in the plank challenge. I hate stomach crunches so need an alternative

Lyrata · 26/02/2021 19:37

The weather was so beautiful today. I actually sat naked on my balcony (which is concealed (mostly)) for half an hour at lunch today to try and get some vitamin D.

Massively well done Doilooklikeatourist - that’s an awesome distance.

I did an online yoga class today which I thought might be a bit rubbish but was actually alright. It made me realise I need to stretch more. It was Fierce Grace and the first one was free.

I also hate crunches Oneborneverydecade but planks and squats I would be up for!

nowlook · 26/02/2021 20:10

Not sure if I have 30 days' worth of anything...certainly not lipsticks or earrings. Bras, maybe.

Funny how I could so easily resist the pull of any air fryer, but succumbed immediately to that Ishga face cream and cleansing balm, sanitizer, hand cream @venusandmars Grin

ouchmyfeet · 26/02/2021 20:15

@venusandmars that's gorgeous, I miss the coast Sad

Weird food day for me today. My seriously low carb bread finally arrived so I had a bacon sandwich for my lunch. Fried mushrooms and cheese too, with a big side salad. Felt ridiculously full afterwards and wasn't really that hungry by tea time. Been very sluggish too, but that might be the bad night's seep rather than the bread. It was very odd, I haven't really missed bread much at all, I wanted to have some in for convenience as we often take packed lunch if we go out for the day. Great option to have but I can't honestly see it leading me down a slippery carb slope .

Tried Ragz's celeriac fries for tea and they were gorgeous. Had them exactly as described in the original post, with the addition of some buttered leeks.

No Friday night booze for me tonight, I normally have one alcoholic drink per week but don't really feel like it tonight so maybe tomorrow.

Happy Friday bootcampers Glitterball

ListenLinda · 26/02/2021 20:22

@Oneborneverydecade i just snorted and DH is giving me strange looks from the sofa Grin

nowlook · 26/02/2021 20:42

I know what I've got over 30 of! Drawers/cupboards! I'm going to clear out at least one a day and also do the shred. There. I've said it.

prettybird · 26/02/2021 20:51

You don't need to have 30 different lipsticks - just to put some on each day if you want to Wink

Lyrata · 26/02/2021 21:12

Okay, unless someone picks a better exercise challenge, in which case I will throw myself shamelessly on that bandwagon, I’m going to do this 30 day squat challenge. I don’t know quite how challenging it will be - but 100 doesn’t sound too bad (the first one I found on google goes to 250 which seems a bit miserable!)

I’m also going to wear something different every day, as I have loads of things I never wear.

venusandmars · 26/02/2021 21:16

@lyrata wear something different every day ... hmmm, I think I've been wearing the same clothes since November Blush

nowlook · 26/02/2021 21:31

I'll join you every 4th day for that one Grin

(are squats the one where you stick your arse out? Might need permission from the council)

FusionChefGeoff · 26/02/2021 21:44

@Lyrata I'll join a squat challenge!!! What do I do?? Do we just chat / report along with our menu updates??

Jollyholibobs · 26/02/2021 21:49

@FusionChefGeoff Depends how long your long runs are I was running fasted (I do 16:8) and low carb up to about 12 miles beyond that distance I have breakfast if I am going out in the morning. I have creamy buttery scrambled eggs with mushrooms, spinach and or smoked salmon. Not too much though as I don’t like to run feeling stuffed. I don’t have carbs though as I don’t want to trigger any issues and I find that now I am carb adapted I don’t need to eat/ have gels etc on a run. It’s really good for your endurance. First couple of weeks my times definitely dropped but it has been worth pushing through that. That’s just my experience and I am not an expert.

StuntNun · 26/02/2021 22:10

@FusionChefGeoff it takes weeks to months to completely adapt to fat burning. During that time you may well notice a drop off in exercise performance particularly top speed and recovery time. If that isn't a problem then stick to low carb, keep running, and wait it out. If you need your times/performance to be higher then use your usual banana/oatmeal/gels whatever you use for runs only and stick to low carb the rest of the time. Once you've completed the fat adaption process you won't need any of those things and you'll be able to run without needing any carbs. Most people find their performance increases while exercising fasted as well. It's quite the revelation. Once your body can freely access its fat stores you'll never run out of energy while running. No bonking or hitting the wall! In addition you start being able to break down lactic acid more efficiently so you won't get that muscular burn when you run fast.

cheeseisthebest · 26/02/2021 22:11

Good food day today -
Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs and butter
Lunch - bacon, mushrooms and leeks with boursin stirred through
Dinner - veg and tofu curry with cauliflower rice.

And nothing else!

cheeseisthebest · 26/02/2021 22:16

And thank you everyone for nice words. I definitely deserved a loss!!
