Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

The electrolyte powder that someone suggested has dropped to £2.99. I will buy another bag at that price!

Bulk Electrolyte Powder, Unflavoured, 100 g, Packaging May Vary https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SP31TCW/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc7DJ5WS1NWV3H9BZJ60SR?encoding=UTF8&psc=1

kilojules · 24/02/2021 18:48

@Lyrata Promptly googled the Bird and Blend Eton Mess! So true! rather steep for tea! Was the fruit handpicked by Himalayan virgins on a full moon?! I'm terribly curious though so will probably get a taster! Reminds me of whittard ones back in the day.

Got some dresses and tops from coast (mostly black to hide those rolls) apart from 1 brave dress. And a LBD from mango. Sizes 10 and small.
I'll be taping them to the fridge haha!

That's one of the coast ones..

Posted before but probs got lost in all the messages. For those close to your goal weight Does anyone count calories or macros? Thanks!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 19:07

@MarmaladeTeepee are they the Serious Pig ones?

I’m excited. Restaurants have opened here and I’ve just booked my favourite for the end of the month. They are only doing their tasting menu (shame) and much of it isn’t actually carby twat territory.

Sourdough focaccia & new season olive oil

Fried Jersey rock oyster & last summer’s hot sauce

Raw Jersey beef & seaweed tartlet

Raw hand-dived Jersey scallop, blood orange

Warm Jersey chancre crab, ginger, sorrel, crab bun

‘The enchanted wood’

Barbecued Jersey X Angus, Anneville farm brassicas, horseradish

Jersey lemon posset & sorrel granita
Yorkshire rhubarb, blood orange & almond tart, long pepper ice cream

Salted St Ouen’s honey chocolates

The chef was on Great British Menu and ‘the enchanted wood’ is his dish from there - it got through to the finals! It’s mushrooms, poached egg and grapefruit - sounds odd but I’ve had it before and it’s lush.

Dreamqueen · 24/02/2021 19:10

Hope thank you for the heads up on price reduction. I've just ordered it. I had it in my basket already.

Will someone remind me please why electrolytr powder is good for us?

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 19:15

@Dailyhandtowelwash I'm not sure they were just from Home Bargains Blush. That menu sounds amazing!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 19:16

Dammit - open restaurants but no Home Bargains here!

StuntNun · 24/02/2021 19:18

Amazing food day today.
L: mussels (just the pre-packed ones from the supermarket but they were lovely), pate on a slice of Seriously Low Carb bread, yogurt with cream and berries.
D: fry up - sausages, bacon, fried egg with celeriac fries which were about 5% as nice as French fries despite being deep fried in dripping.

Marmalade your food looks pretty good. Do you have any concerns about it?

Kilojules there shouldn't be any need to count calories or macros routinely but sometimes it can be a useful exercise to log them (not restrict them but just see where they naturally fall) to see whether it's worth tweaking anything.

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 19:28

@StuntNun no I'm just sick of not losing weight - I started bootcamp on 4th Jan and have lost just 5.2lb (and that 5lb was all in the first 2 weeks) despite mainly sticking to bootcamp with the odd light day thrown in (a few nuts or berries, no booze). I'm 4 stone overweight so nowhere near target. I suspect it's my bloody hormones as I've lost more but then regained it when I'm due on, but I wanted my food checked just in case.

nowlook · 24/02/2021 19:33

Lovely food day!

L: mushroom, spinach and cheese omelette with an avocado, radish and iceberg salad (plus dressing)

D: fish curry. Monkfish, mussels, lobster, aubergine, courgette, cauliflower, spinach, shallots in a creamy Thai style broth. Am lucky MIL taught DH to cook rather than plating up chicksticks and chips as per my DM Grin

Rubbish pic attached!

Pleaseandthankyou · 24/02/2021 19:35

I have just ordered the seriously low carb bread and they have low carb hot cross buns. The photo looks just like the real thing. Can’t wait to try them

Lyrata · 24/02/2021 19:56

That sounds really good StuntNun - hadn’t thought of celeriac fries with a fried breakfast. Bet you could do a good rosti type thing too.

Yours sounds great too venusandmars - lobster curry sounds incredible.

My daily food:
Breakfast: 2 x coffee with double cream, sous vide egg pot with parmesan
Lunch: creamy cauliflower soup with extra sour cream
Snack: sous vide egg pot
Dinner: what was MEANT to be dirty fries but sadly someone stole the rest of the Parmesan. So I had clean celeriac fries with a homemade tomato, shallot and basil dip - roasted courgette and aubergine on the side. An entirely accidentally vegan dinner.

Motivateinmotion · 24/02/2021 20:06

Advice please?

Followed bootcamp from the beginning and still getting headaches. Sinus ones at that - throbbing eyes, upper jaw/cheekbone ache/ stuffy nose. Have never suffered with headaches before and take twice weekly lateral flow so do think it’s diet related.

Im drinking 3-3.5L water. I’m salting food in cooking and adding at the table. Im taking 2 tablet electrolyte supplements a day now. I also take a separate magnesium (zinc and vit b). I can’t imagine my carbs are too low I’m eating a range of veg.

Today for example
L: creamy pesto chicken and mushrooms on spring greens and courgetti and pine nuts. A few walnuts after
D: crab Mayo with roasted red pepper, onion and aubergine and a side of swede dauphinois
S: a pack of ham and some pork scratchings - trying to reduce processed foods but added them for saltiness.

Any ideas? Am off to take some sinutab but don’t want to be taking these regularly if I can help it

Lyrata · 24/02/2021 20:07

kilojules I know! And I hunted for discount codes and couldn’t find any working ones, which I inherently resent. Annoyingly it is good tea though.

Beautiful dress!

As someone close to goal, I would say I have a vague awareness of calories rather than counting them. I wouldn’t want to be fannying around with measuring scales or anything like that. I think it’s normally ‘processed’ snacks that catch people out close to goal - or dairy - and I’ve had a few weeks where I suspect the latter has got me, but I have just tried to eat less rather than counting the calories of it.

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 20:17

@Motivateinmotion sorry you're suffering, have you got any allergies? They sound like the kind of headaches I get in hayfever season.

Oneborneverydecade · 24/02/2021 20:41

@Pleaseandthankyou hot cross buns!? Thank you for the heads up

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/02/2021 20:45

@Motivateinmotion I think hay fever type headache as @MarmaladeTeepee suggested
@Dailyhandtowelwash I would take restaurants open in place of Home Bargains any day ( we haven’t been out for dinner since last August 😫) would even happily have a coffee ( and cake ) but no idea when we will even get that in Wales !
I can’t wait for clothes shopping , Ive been living in the same pair of skinny jeans which I have had enough of , Only have 2 bras that fit , and are serviceable, the others , either the wire poked out or broke . luckily one is black , one white

Had a disappointing dinner , lemon sole pan fried in butter with flgv and the fish was meh , so I’ve been on the cheese and grapes

Planning on making a pot of ratatouille as per the recipe up thread

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 20:48

Wanted to share this desert because it sounds really nice and takes a couple minutes to make. Theres also a chocolate version where if once ready put in a bowl, add extra thick cream and the 10 cal jelly it tastes just like Black Forrest Gateau. Delicious! 《Disclaimer: not for those trying to get rid of their sweet tooth Grin》

The other pic is dinner tonight. Fried mushrooms and bacon in lots of butter, smothered with garlic, once cooked added corgette spaghetti and fried all together until done. Ready to eat chicken thighs from tesco heating up in the mic. Whole meal took about 8 minutes!

I ordered some new clothes in the Warehouse so cheap they're practically free sale @Lyrata. I love one of the dresses, I just wish I had somewhere to wear it. No money and no where to go humpf

Oneborneverydecade · 24/02/2021 20:52

I bought a bag of courgette spaghetti and ate half for lunch. I microwaved it, added cooked chicken and a dollop of soft cheese, seasoning and chilli oil. It was okay but only okay.

Any suggestions for courgette spaghetti lunches? Can you fry it up?

Oneborneverydecade · 24/02/2021 20:54

Here's my new dress. I look infinitely happier to be wearing it than the model

nowlook · 24/02/2021 20:56

I think @Lyrata was raving about the Tiktok pasta @Oneborneverydecade

That was definitely courgetti and involved feta.

nowlook · 24/02/2021 20:58
Grin That's a bit like saying you've got more hair than Phil Collins Oneborn
MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 20:58

@Oneborneverydecade I don't think she could look less impressed if she tried! Lovely dress though.

Bestbees · 24/02/2021 21:00

Hi everyone. Inspired by the clothing talk I have order a skirt in a size ten....might regret it!

Made a butter tomato sauce for meat balls tonight. Peel and half an onion, stick in pan with tin of Tom's, four tbsp of butter, salt and simmer for 45mins. You are meant to fish out the onion but it kinda fell apart so we ate it. Absolutely delicious, easy and would be great with other things too.

@Oneborneverydecade try frying up chorizo and shallot. Add plenty of butter and a few prawns. Maybe a bit of cream. Or the sauce I have mentioned would be good with some Protein. I don't tend to fry it up, just heat it in the sauce. However fried up bacon, onion, chilli and garlic then fry the courgette in with it too might be good so it absorbs some of the bacon fat?
