Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

@kilojules I've whacked your weight on the spreadsheet for you.

Morning one and all!

Hope everyone is well.

@Ninkanink personally I think you're ace, be kind to yourself and know that your contributions on these threads are brilliant!

To those not sleeping, you have my sympathy! I'm also having a run of insomnia currently. Sleep is so important for weight loss. If I continue I'm going to see if I can get something to help me sleep from the GP. My 4 year old sleeps better than me!

It's wet and windy here.. horrid. I'm going to have a day of crochet today I think.

In good news I was 1.2lb down on yesterday, and .6 down from my lowest weight last week. I'm another who fluctuates the live long week.

Lastly, I've lost 12/13lb (dependent on the day) since 1st Jan also.. must be a thing!

KOKO!!!

And in the words of the great @ShagMeRiggins
WATER!!!

StuntNun · 24/02/2021 12:45

Nowlook only you can decide whether it's okay to make a mindful exception although I'd rather have a roast potato than a Yorkshire pud! If it's the first week of Bootcamp then keep shtum about it though to avoid derailing newbies on the thread.

Jenga it feels wrong to add fat to food because we've been lied to told it's bad for so long. It's really important to embrace fat to achieve food weight loss. Think of dietary fat as the kindling needed to burn body fat. Or as some say: you have to eat fat to burn fat. Yogurt is a great breakfast food so long as it's a high fat one. You can thrown in a few soft fruits but, as BIWI pointed out upthread, if you're having fruit / nuts / seeds / dark chocolate multiple times a day then the carbs will ramp up rapidly. I would have only one small portion of one of these foods per day to maximise weight loss. Please don't worry about portion size at this point. Try to respond to your own hunger and satiety signals. Portion size usually only comes into play when you've lost a fair amount of weight, and hence need far fewer calories than you used to, or when you get very close to your ideal weight.

Dailyhandtowelwash undereating can certainly derail weight loss. If you want to eat more I suggest taking up some aerobic exercise. I notice swimming in particular seems to make me extra hungry. It's partly habit and partly reduced metabolism that keeps your appetite low. In the fasting groups, eating only one meal a day is renowned for stopping weight loss.

Almahart · 24/02/2021 13:21

Hi all

@Ninkanink huge sympathies re insomnia. I didn't really sleep for the whole of August (work/divorce stress) and it was honestly horrendous.

Koko here - had a delicious lunch of stir fried asparagus in ginger/garlic/chilli with a thin omelette on top.

Still upping my water game and hoping for a whoosh this week.

nowlook · 24/02/2021 13:22

Will definitely not mention it @StuntNun! But maybe we could at least ask deliberately provocative questions to pass the time.

E.g. Is a toastie ok BIWI if it's made with wholemeal sandwich thins? [innocent wide-eyed face]

Bring on the summer!

NoraEphronsNeck · 24/02/2021 13:22

@Ninkanink

Another night of not being able to sleep...

Here’s a Classics thread I stumbled across, in case anyone else is awake and needs some cheer:

A hug for a teaspoon

Oh I loved that thread, thanks for sharing Smile
MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 24/02/2021 13:45

nowlook Grin** you've given me a much-needed laugh this morning.

*
BIWI* if you can, picture an over-weight, middle-aged woman doing a sort of Uriah Heap impression, grovelling etc.

Good day back on it today. Moussaka tonight, lunch was salmon and cream-cheese sarnies (lettuce instead of bread), & yog with cream for breakfast. Plus lots of water & green veg. 💪

BustleInYourHedgerow · 24/02/2021 14:05

Welcome Jenga and Rollspegasus.

Well done on that whoosh Buffy!

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch sorry to hear you're upset about school going back. They are going back here on a phased basis from Monday which means DS8 will be in for 2 weeks before DS11. I'm considering keeping them both off but don't want DS8 to feel he is missing out... I'm so angry at our government right now I feel they are opening things up too early again and they have learned nothing Christmas. None of us have underlying conditions and I've had my vaccine through work but I really don't want to send them back. I wish they would wait until after Easter.

Made some soup today, I'm on a mission to empty and defrost my freezer and found some grilled peppers I had frozen a while back. I made a fennel and red pepper soup, it was delicious but probably a bit carby at 9.3g per portion I think? Made the cheese muffins too, thanks to whoever posted them they were delicious and nice to bite into something 'bready'. Have shepherds pie on the menu tonight, going to try a cauliflower and celeriac topping, I'm sure the entire family will complain about it but they can such it, I've had enough of cooking two different sides.

Amen, Bustle!

1stMrsF · 24/02/2021 14:24

Almost back down to last weeks weight after the Thai indiscretion at the weekend. Blush

Yesterday and today had leftover keto fish pie, so I guess it was sort of worth all the faff if it lasted a few days! I'll post on the recipe thread.
Yesterday made a sort of Thai Pork Stirfry with mince, ginger and garlic, soy, lime and fish sauce plus ts broccoli and courgette. Didn't feel fatty enough so had a few slices of Brie afterwards.
Today's tea will be Ham, Egg and Chips for the kids, FLGV for me and DH.
WATER!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 24/02/2021 14:25

My seriously low carb delivery arrived today. I can confirm that the brownies (3.7g carb each) are lush. They are more like a truffle in texture rather than a chewy brownie and have a dessicated coconut taste.
Have eaten far too much cheese today - bought some with ginger in and didn't appreciate just how sweet it would be. I don't think I can buy it again as I suspect it's not as low carb as normal cheese, but it came from the deli so no nutritional info on the packaging. Lunch was a small bowl of soup and a low carb roll with butter and a brownie.

For anyone doing their own gel nails, I really rate the blue sky polishes on Amazon.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 14:37

@StuntNun thanks. Would love to be doing swimming but not really a goer at the moment obviously! I do live by the sea but didn't get into the cold water habit early enough this season.

I'll try upping my exercise as I do need to - although I've had periods with quite a lot of exercise and eaten exactly as I do now, so there doesn't seem to be a clear link for me.

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 15:14

Thanks @Lyrata I'm definitely dancing with joy, lost another 2lb this morning!! 😱 Sooo praying I dont have a massive fluctuation back up to 15st before next weigh in! 🙈

Welcome @JengaCupboard @rollspegasus Smile

@nowlook 😂😂 Happens to me all the time! I'm a one finger typer so takes ages to post Grin

@ShagMeRiggins thanks! Thanks for the tip, I bought coral before but it was too orange and didn't look so good on. I definitely prefer the true coral colour, it is lush! I found a minute between kids and study a few nights ago and coloured my nails a soft mocca colour. Looks awful, wont wear it again! Just trial and error.

@Ninkanink no worries and thanks loads. I'm meant to be studying just now Blush And to think my toddlers get the blame for me being behind Grin

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 15:56

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously OMG I just started salivating!! My brownies are due to arrive tomorrow, can't wait!!

I found a lovely desert recipe in my keto cook book, I'll share it later once I've done enough studying to justify leaving DP to cope with the horrors toddlers alone. What a commotion downstairs! Sometimes studying does have it's rewards Grin

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 16:27

Those brownies sound amazing!

I'm really struggling to stay on track today. I'm just not losing weight and my clothes aren't feeling any different and I'm really battling the temptation to drown all my sorrows in a huge bowl of chocolate. Really trying to focus on the NSVs and reminding myself how rubbish I'll feel (physically and mentally) if I give up now but the struggle is real. Sorry for the moan just need to vent.

nowlook · 24/02/2021 16:56

You vent away @MarmaladeTeepee!

Is there anything constructive we can help with? I've got it in my head that you don't eat very often- but that might be someone else? ConfusedGrin

RagzReturnsRebooted · 24/02/2021 16:59

Sorry you're having a bad day @MarmaladeTeepee hopefully having a rant about it helped! Is there anything really tasty and LC than you can treat yourself to? Or a nice non food treat? Or look at clothes online and pretending you're buying smaller ones already!

I've not had a good food day. No carbs, just no veg either and it's burger and celeriac fries for dinner so not much veg like there either. We're out of all my low carb veg so I'll have to shop tomorrow.

Breakfast - Greek yoghurt and cream
Late lunch - bowl of pork crack (3 small belly strips all to myself Blush)
Dinner will be - burger in a low carb roll with cheesy celeriac fries (as per Ragz' dirty fried but sans bacon).

Trying to get through the water but struggling the last few days. Having at least 1 zero tablet a day but had a headache for 4 days and my lip is still twitching. Never had issues before when LC apart from occasional headache from lack of electrolytes but always went as soon as I had some salt. Not working this time! Hopefully unrelated to the WOE as I'm loathe to knock myself out of fat burning to find out.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 24/02/2021 17:10

Ooh I've just remembered I have frozen sprouts! Shall have those with my dinner Smile

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 17:20

Dinner tonight is mushroom stroganoff with cauli rice. Loads of cream, everything fried in butter. I'm thinking I need to up my fat too. It's actually really hard to keep the levels up! I've suggested to DH that I follow the example on here and just add pork belly strips to random meals. Grin

ListenLinda · 24/02/2021 17:48

Ended up having no breakfast this morning, as nothing in til our shopping came. Lunch was a cream of chicken soup from the back of the cupboard, 8g of carbs for the whole thing which is not the best but not too bad considering the alternatves. Was filling, havent had nothing else since. DH is making his burgers at the mo, considering wrapping it in a romaine lettuce leaf. Halloumi fries & salad on the side.
I’ve actually tracked everything today, and i’ll definately be restricting the creamy coffees. Only one more bottle of water to go too.

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 17:53

Thanks nowlook and Ragz Flowers

Ragz I've finally managed to get hold of a celeriac so I'm making your dirty fries tonight, they will be my low carb treat.

nowlook I do intermittent fasting but I don't think I eat little (I did OMAD for years but I've switched to 20:4 to try to get more fat in). But some feedback on my meals would be really helpful actually if someone wouldn't mind having a look at them?

Mon: Fasted until 3.30pm then had egg mayo salad made with 3 hard boiled eggs and about 4 tablespoons of full fat mayo and half a bag of mixed salad leaves.

Dinner: Chicken curry made various spices, shallots and mushrooms fried in butter, mixed with chopped tomatoes and leftover roast chicken. Served with green beans and broccoli covered in butter.

Water: 3litres

Exercise: 5km run

Tues: Fasted until 3.30pm then had cucumber sticks dipped in Saint Agur blue cream cheese and cucumber slices topped with butter and pate.

Dinner: Crunchy garlic chicken - 2 x chicken breasts topped with garlic, mayo, parmesan and crushed pork crunch. Served with buttered green beans and sprouts. Followed by full fat greek yogurt mixed with extra thick double cream.

Today: Fasted til 3.30pm but not feeling especially hungry so had a coffee with cream and a chunk of brie.

Dinner: chicken drumsticks coated with melted butter and homemade spice blend with Ragz's dirty fries and Asda coleslaw (4.9g of carbs per 100g)

Water: 3 litres

Exercise: 5km run

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 17:54
  • 3.5 litres of water on Tuesday
Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 17:55

@MarmaladeTeepee what is pork crunch? It sounds very much my sort of thing.

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 18:31

@Dailyhandtowelwash it's similar to pork scratchings but drier and more puffed up (see pic). I don't like it that much as a snack, it's too dry for me, but it's a good breadcrumb substitute if you want a crunchy topping.

Well done on your loss! Amazing to be almost at lowest weight. I'm super jelly!

@MarmaladeTeepee
Hmmm. That's a bit of a head scratcher Confused I wonder if there's quite enough fat (your proteins are quite lean). Definitely one for the grownups Grin
