Morning campers!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all

We're half way through now. Hopefully by now we should all be getting used to a low carb way of eating, which will mean we should be fat-adapted.

I hope you've enjoyed the recipe challenges, and I really look forward to reading more recipes.

I especially hope that the challenge has lured the lurkers out! Please post your recipes!

And, of course, here's hoping that we all have a good week ahead

@MarmaladeTeepee. I feel your pain as I've hardly lost anything either in the past six weeks. I've recently discovered YouTube videos by Sten Ekberg though, and I've started implementing some of his tips this week. One thing he talks about is incorporating very short (3-5 min) HIIT sessions in your schedule 2x per week, and avoiding anaerobic exercise, which he says can increase cortisol levels. Wonder if your ,5 k runs might be an issue ATM? Perhaps worth checking? He also mentions that dairy and nuts can be problematic for very insulin resistant people. But he is a big advocate of IF, which I see you're already doing...

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 21:05

@kilojules love the dress!!

I'm currently a size 18 apple so don't dare order anything online.

Dailyhandtowelwash that's great getting out to your favourite restaurant, according to Sturgeon lockdown could continue into May for us Sad

MarmaladeTeepee · 24/02/2021 21:09

@tanoshii thank you, it's good to know it's not just me! I'll check that guy out. I really hope it's not going to mean cutting out dairy as that makes bootcamp so much more bearable and I'm more of a plodder than a runner so not sure if I can be causing that much stress to my body Grin, but I might try a week of no dairy just to see and 3-5 minutes of hiit sounds very doable. Thank you Flowers

Oh that feta thing looks nice actually. Just ordered some low carb rolls, loaves, and yes I was tempted by the hot cross buns. Gonna have them toasted with cheese and butter. Yum.

Lunch was cheese, shallots and yellow pepper omelette, dinner was veggie meatballs in cheesy creamy garlic sauce with mushrooms and red pepper on celeriac and leek mash. 2 coffees with cream as well.

I'm finally back down to 11'5. I'm the same as a PP, I have a whoosh, then go up by 2 or 3 pounds then spend a week gradually going back down to that weight and settling. I only record the lowest weight though!

cheeseisthebest · 24/02/2021 21:36

It has taken me all day to catch up!!

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 21:46

@Oneborneverydecade
Any suggestions for courgette spaghetti lunches? Can you fry it up?

I posted the corgette spaghetti meal I had for dinner, with a pic on the previous page. It was lovely, I'd definitely make it again. Took around 8 minutes to make.

Oneborneverydecade · 24/02/2021 22:50

@nowlook Tiktok pasta is a great idea thank you

@MarmaladeTeepee @nowlook I follow Olive Clothing on insta and their model always looks really happy, it's so refreshing

@BuffyTheBuffetSlayer your dinner looks much tastier than my effort, thank you

BustleInYourHedgerow · 24/02/2021 22:50

@Shagmeriggins do you know what, they all liked it! I put cheese on top which always goes down well...it was tasty too. I had some broccoli on the side and they had some frozen peas. But they were all hungry afterwards? Now both boys are going through some kind of manic growth spurt and they had croissants, nuts and fruit after dinner. And after I put DS2 to bed I came downstairs to husband making himself beans on toast. Hmm.

@Marmaladeteepee sorry you're feeling this way. Please don't give up and undo your hard work. It will be worth it. We all have days like those.

I shouldn't have made those muffins . I ate three of them. Also the soup I had was quite carby. And had a square of 85% chocolate. Oh well. And a gin and soda. This schools going back is really getting to me I am torn.

Oneborneverydecade · 24/02/2021 22:54

@Bestbees fingers crossed for the size 10! I can only dream

I'm going to have to be more experimental with the courgette aren't I

@tanoshii thank you for the recommendation, I think I'll have a look tomorrow too. I've only lost 4lb this bootcamp

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 23:03

I’m sorry if posting the menu has upset anyone. I didn’t think.

nowlook · 24/02/2021 23:16

It certainly upset me @Dailyhandtowelwash because I've realised where you live and am Envy
You very lucky thing!
Menu looks amazing.

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 24/02/2021 23:24

@Dailyhandtowelwash if you mean me, I'm not upset at all you posting the menu, I was drooling over it, it looks devine! Smile Sorry, if that's how my post came across 🙈 I was venting my frustration at sturgeon dragging lockdown out another couple months. As soon as lockdown is over we plan on going to M&C Grin

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 23:52

Oh, no specific person! Although I wouldn’t want to annoy anyone at all. I really hope you don’t end up locked down for so long.

@nowlook it has its ups and downs. Cheap oysters are definitely an up.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 25/02/2021 00:11

I entered today's food in MFP for a laugh. Macros work out at 73% fat, 22% protein and 5% carbs! Didn't have enough veg today, obviously as that's only 22g of carbs.

Wasn't such a laugh when I came across all my weights and progress photos from before. I did boot camp and low carb mostly from January 2017 to summer 2018 and lost about 50lbs. My progress photos are amazing. I have plenty of excuses I can use for why I fell off the low carb WOE, but that's not the point.

I am now the same weight, almost exactly, as I was when I started then Blush and am feeling rather discouraged that it took me 18 months to lose it before, though I did have breaks in that. I'd been hoping to lose it all by the summer!

Ahh well, I'm here now and KOKO. I'm know I'm not alone.

MarmaladeTeepee · 25/02/2021 05:15

Thanks Bustle I'm feeling more positive today.

Ragz you're definitely not alone. The worst is when you find old records slimming world books and your old start weight would be your current dream weight Blush. At least you know you've done it before so you can do it again, even if it might take longer than you hoped. I'm a sucker for setting unrealistic timescales and then adjusting how much I need to lose each week, so it'll start at say 1.5lb a week and then by the end it'll be 10lb a week Hmm. I'm now taking anything that's not a gain as a win! KOKO.

Underthebludgeoningsofchance · 25/02/2021 07:00

Morning all. It has taken forever to catch up but love all the chitchat. You guys are hilarious. Sorry to all those feeling unwell, fatigued, and discouraged. I hope things improve.
On the food front, had an awful meal where I mixed sauteed Savoy cabbage with a guinea fowl butter curry. The curry was great, inspired by Biwi's recipe thread, but the accompaniment was not good. My long-suffering hubby has now banned me from "experimenting" with new fangled meats!
On the plus side, he and the rest of the family absolutely adored the celeriac dauphinoise. So thank you for whoever mentioned that. I'm going to try a few of my favourite potato recipes subbed with celeriac and if successful will post them on the recipe thread.
@BIWI thanks for the meal ideas on the uber bootcamp tab. I adore coleslaw, so can't wait to try that.
@RagzReturnsRebooted, yes I know exactly how you feel about feeling like you're on the same journey all over again. I too have lost all my weight and put it back on three times. More fool me. But when I think about others tackling addiction to things like cigarettes, we know that it often takes 5 attempts to stop for good. And most people around encourage others efforts to stop smoking, but fail to apply that to carb addiction. And it is an addiction that has been encouraged by the diet industry to keep us dependent on buying their products and signing up to whatever the new scheme is. That's why this bootcamp is such a refreshing change. There's no endorsement of miracle products. It is just good wholesome food, minimally processed and perseverance. And support and laughter and chat from an amazing group of people.

StuntNun · 25/02/2021 07:07

On the weight loss journey front I fondly remember when I was 22 years old and thought I needed to lose a bit of weight. How wrong I was!

ouchmyfeet · 25/02/2021 07:49

Wholly agree with this. I have lost so much weight so many times over. This has got to be the last time and it really genuinely feels different to being on a diet. I can't believe I've been doing this for nearly 6 weeks and am still enjoying food!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 25/02/2021 07:49

@Underthebludgeoningsofchance thank you, that is an encouraging way of looking at it! I have 4.5 years until I'm 40 and my goal is to reach that slim and fit. I'd like to be able to do push ups and pull ups by then, an ambitious goal as I couldn't do them at 18 and an size 10-12! I'd also like to be able to run fast enough to escape from zombies danger. Basically, I read too many post apocalypse books, am a bit of a prepper and feel like physical fitness should be a part of that Blush

FusionChefGeoff · 25/02/2021 07:58

Hello everyone - I'm on day 4 is it still ok for me to join this thread or do I need to carry on and wait for the April 12th option?? I've found the spreadsheet and swotted up on the rules etc but still have some questions, well, all the questions Grin

MarmaladeTeepee · 25/02/2021 08:05

That made me chuckle Ragz. I remember reading once you should be fit enough to run or swim from danger and strong enough to carry a family member at the same time. As long as the zombies are the old fashioned slow type and I choose to carry the cat as opposed to a child, I'll be fine Grin.

Onelittlepiglet · 25/02/2021 08:09

Welcome FusionCheffGeoff! There is lots of help and advice on here and you are very welcome.

I am feeling more positive this morning - think I had a bad day yesterday. Onwards....

Saw this on Twitter and had to share. Everyone was saying how awful it looks, but I thought it looks like a great dish for bootcamp! Wish they had shared the recipe for it too....but I bet you could make one up!

Week 6 Low CarbBootcamp - the second half
FusionChefGeoff · 25/02/2021 08:12

Thank you!

I'm a keen runner and about to attempt my first carb free run I'm very apprehensive but will take it easy and see what happens.

I'm not feeling great (fuzzy headed) but have been smashing my water targets, drinking hot lemon all morning for potassium and also salt water yesterday (yuck!) so will make sure I do the same today I guess and wait for this bit to pass.

FusionChefGeoff · 25/02/2021 08:14

I'd say dry shallots with some cumin, salt and paprika maybe bit of smoked paprika then tip
Into bowl of mince. Add an egg, thyme, S&P and squish.

Stick cauliflower in bowl and surround with meat mixture. Top with cheese and bake.
