Week 3 - Jan '21 Low Carb Bootcamp - time for Light?

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:40

Well thanks to all the chat, I've had to start this week's thread earlier than usual Grin

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to declare all

You now have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which means you can re-introduce nuts and seeds, some fruit and alcohol - all in moderation.

However, also bear in mind that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little or not weight loss and this is nothing to do with moving on to Bootcamp Light. It's just something that seems to happen.

So it's up to you. You can stay on Bootcamp if you wish, or move on to Bootcamp Light, or a hybrid - so you do Bootcamp during the week but relax into Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever you decide - good luck! Here's to a good week ahead.

Wants a cat now 🐈‍⬛

@1stMrsF I want to learn to crochet too , my grandma did amazing crochet , almost like lace , and made beautiful edging for tablecloth in the shape of pineapples , she did try and show us , but as girls we didnt want to know

Made a lovely bung it in a pan soup for lunch , courgette ,1 carrot , onion , celariac and 3 shrivelled cherry tomatoes , cooked in butter , chicken stock cube , salt and pepper , blended and then I added double cream to mine
DH ( low fat fiend ) looked at me in horror , so I smiled and had a second bowlful
I know onions and carrot aren’t perfect , but with the other veg and the stock and cream it made a good 4 portions ( and it was delicious ! )

Cheese and wine tonight , celariac remoulade and some serrano ham on the side
Delish ❤️

ouchmyfeet · 06/02/2021 20:01

No cat here to share photos of, but my meals today have been:

L: omelette filled with a mix of chorizo, courgette, spinach and cheese. With a big salad and half an avocado

T: moussaka from the recipe thread with buttered cabbage. It was just okay, confirmed to me that I really don't like aubergine.

Lots of water but it's 8pm and I still have a litre to go 😬

ListenLinda · 06/02/2021 20:11

DH has just brought me home some Lindt 85% dark chocolate, trying to cheer me up a bit I think. I’m resisting opening it and I know i’ll keep taking a piece everytime I go in the kitchen...

I've learnt from YouTube. I can only do basic stuff though and am in envy of those who can do it fabulously!
nowlook · 06/02/2021 20:52

I need your sofa @AthelstaneTheUnready. It's exactly right for the kitchen!

My cat is an evil bastard, unfortunately. Dogs are ace, though.

I've given myself a day off the ready meals. L: fry-up
D: burger topped with blue cheese in a flat mushroom bun with celeriac mash and broccoli.

Have you all seen the £50 sandwich? Joking apart, I think the ingredients on the Millionaire would be quite nice together (gold optional).

And here are Evie and Ruby. Ruby thinks Evie is a pain in the arse and should really calm the feck down.

More dogs!
Lunch today was Greek yogurt with a few blueberries, and a peperami. Creamy coffee and a few bites of biltong as a snack and a cheeseburger without bread plus a huge salad for dinner.

Hi everyone. Loving all the animal pictures, I would love cats but my husband hates them. We are hopefully getting a dog this year!

Fagey · 06/02/2021 21:14

Hi all.

Please can I join you guys?

I'm 10 days into the Fast800 and really feeling good with a low carb life. 9.2lb lost so far. X

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/02/2021 21:28

Found a takeaway tonight that offered decent low carb options. Had half a jerk chicken with guacamole.

BustleInYourHedgerow · 06/02/2021 21:58

Mmm sounds good Greebo. Im determined to find a good takeaway here for new week.

GorgeousGoldies · 06/02/2021 22:14

Ah, pets are something I can get on board with, as I’ve been rubbish not quite on plan with BC.

@Jollyholibobs well done you.

Loving the pet pictures, happy to swap dgc for lovely cats, much easier to look after, and fluffier @prettybird @StuntNun are you interested in a long term swap? 2 dgc (house trained but bloody noisy) for 2 cats...

Although dh is not keen on cats (avid bird watcher) hence our experiment as guide dog puppy walkers.

Hi Fagey! Welcome and well done on your loss!

LittleMissNoSoPlump · 07/02/2021 07:43

Sorry I’ve not posted, I have been following and reading all comments to try and get all the information about this woe. Thanks so much for all your salad dressing ideas and BIWI for suggesting I try the lactose free Greek yogurt from Tesco, it is lovely! I haven’t eaten yogurt in years so it feels like a nice treat! I haven’t been too experimental with my meals but I’ve lost 5lbs this week and haven’t felt hungry once!! I did feel a bit deprived not being able to eat my daughters lovely home made brownies but I figure that I can introduce her to a low carb way of baking in the future so I won’t feel like I’m ‘missing out’. I’ve honestly felt more energetic and positive this week than I have in ages and haven’t had any headaches as I’ve listened to advice about drinking loads of water. I’m so thankful to you all for sharing your knowledge and expertise here. I’m determined to keep on track this week with my second week of boot camp.

ListenLinda · 07/02/2021 07:51

Well done on the 5lbs @LittleMissNoSoPlump!

An excellent start, KOKO :)

Bestbees · 07/02/2021 08:06

Morning all. Loving the pet pics! We have a ginger Tom who in normal times like to walk the kids to school!

I have woken up with the munchies, and despite not being hungry I have just eaten an egg with mayo, wedge of chorizo, massive wedge of brie and some yog. I am annoyed as I am not hungry, should have distracted myself with coffee. I am feel much less hungry but find it hard not to eat at lunch and dinner times!

Plan for rest of day is brocoli and Stilton soup for lunch. Beef cheeks cooked in red wine in the slow cooker, served with swede mash and red cabbage for dinner.

Hopefully no more mindless eating. Anyone else suffer with this? I think it is particularly bad for me when I am about to lose a pound or something. A set weight issue? I have been the weight I am now since I was 18, nott withstanding the things when I have managed to shift that 1/2 stone.

nowlook · 07/02/2021 08:53

I've been the same weight since I was 18

That's an achievement in itself, @Bestbees! I've been as much as a stone lighter and three stones heavier Grin

venusandmars · 07/02/2021 09:05

bestbees sometimes I feel like a have a bored mouth, rather than actually feeling hungry. Often something like soda water and ice with a slice of lime and lemon will deal with it.

Brunch - creamy coffee, left over portobello mushroom pizza
D - Asian style salmon, with pak choi, green beans, peppers

Big walk this afternoon, although it seems to be snowing...

prettybird · 07/02/2021 09:23

I'm hoping not to be a granny for some time venusandmars Shock - ds is only 20 and still at Uni Grin

The low carb coffee Creme Brulee was a great success so I'll post the recipe up on the Desserts thread. My dad said it was restaurant quality, so praise indeed Halo

Bestbees · 07/02/2021 09:31

@venusandmars hu gry mouth is a great description!

@nowlook 😃 I have been 10lb heavier and 10lb lighter too. But really 9.13 seems to be where I end up!

LittleMy77 · 07/02/2021 09:51

Huge pot of veggie soup being made atm. Gearing up to TOTM here and I can’t stop eating

This week being on boot camp light has been a bit trial and error - I made almond flour scone things which are great but I can’t stop eating them (I froze the rest this am) just like bread, once I start I can’t stop Blush so I may just avoid for now.

Nice to be able to add a few berries and a square of dark chocolate feels like a massive indulgence. Interestingly it doesn’t taste as bitter as it used to

Ninkanink · 07/02/2021 09:57

Morning everyone! Flowers

So many beautiful pets!!❤️❤️ It’s hopefully going to be our time to get a dog soon (in the next couple of years), which I’m very much looking forward to.

Lazy day today, atm we’re snuggled in bed having our coffees.

Lunch is going to be a tuna and egg salad, I think. We didn’t end up having it yesterday. And dinner is roast chicken.

DH is going to bake ciabatta today...Sigh...I do love bread.

Last night we had beef stew; I had celeriac and horseradish mash to which I added a spoon of DH’s peas as my dinner was looking a little too beige on the plate...also had roasted cauliflower wedges.

I’m now enjoying one of the biggest benefits/NSVs of this WOE for me - I’m on my period and have had no cramps whatsoever. Always such a nice change.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Morning! Snowing here (South East so unusual and exciting) and we are having a slow start. I hope we can go out for a walk in it later but have a feeling no one else will be as keen! Whilst the DCs are coping with the lockdown in that they are engaging with their school work and are moderately cheerful I can see them sliding into the same apathy and sad acceptance that I saw last time - it's harder and harder to get them to leave the house 🙁 or do anything except sit on the sofa with iPad.

We're off to DMs for brunch today which will at least give us a change of scenery (she's just at the end of the road so not far!) and we've ordered a roast dinner from the pub so no cooking for me today! It comes with lots of different veg so I'll just dodge the roasties.
Brunch - sausages and mushrooms cooked in butter
Dinner - roast beef, cauliflower, red cabbage, sprouts, hopefully some mashed swede too.

ouchmyfeet · 07/02/2021 10:12

Morning all, I've had 9 hours sleep for the first time in years and woke up feeling like a new woman! Scales aren't shifting this week despite not moving onto BC light (apart from one G&T) but I started on the proper start date so this is my week 3 and I will KOKO.

Will watch out for the coffee crepe brûlée recipe, that sounds perfect for the occasional treat. I used to make a lovely coffee mousse I picked up from one of the MN recipe threads. It was literally just whipped up double cream, instant coffee granules and crumbled meringues and it was gorgeous. Don't really like the taste of sweetener but I might see if low carb meringues are a thing and have a go at them. I know i should know this, but are there any sweeteners that are better than others? (I know they're all baaaad)

Food today will likely be a tuna salad for lunch and then roast chicken for tea. Going to try something apart from mash with my remaining celeriac. Not sure what yet, maybe dauphinoise
