This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Ps to prettybird and the Nicole Fahri dress; yeah, I’d do you.

Apologies. That was crass and I realise it might offend some, which is never my accidental goal.

Meanwhile, sausage burgers, fries, and peas for dinner tonight. For the family. Wink

I’m diving into my ready-made batch of pot a feu, so basically a thin stew of shin of beef, swedes, leeks, celery, plus carrots and potatoes that I don’t add to my plate, covered in a beautiful vinaigrette. Lots of salt to add as well. Heaven. One of my favourite French peasant dishes.

Bon appetit! WATER WATER WATER!

prettybird · 28/01/2021 18:28

 Grin ShagMeRiggins

I presume you are of course meaning that you'd "do" my colour and style advice WinkGrinWink

Black actually isn't one of "my" colours, but the black velvet of that dress still works, provided I have tanned skin (real or self-tan).

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/01/2021 18:35

I had nice food today, with FLGV. Lunch was an omelette with spinach, mushrooms and asparagus, topped with grated cheddar. For dinner I had a couple of sausages, plus some griddled asparagus, but the best bit was the creamy mustard leeks. I've never eaten leeks often till this Bootcamp, now I can't get enough of them.

Although is anyone else finding some veg is hard to find atm? I haven't seen courgette in the shops for a couple of weeks, and broccoli seems scarce.

AWryGiraffe · 28/01/2021 18:35

Holland and Barrett do some low carb pastas, the edamame one is ok if I remember rightly. They tend to weigh heavy in my stomach the way real pasta does though so I don't have them much.

Today was a couple of coffees with cream, lunch was a salad of raw spinach, fried mushrooms, feta, sprinkle of mozzarella and a fried egg. Very filling. Dinner was quorn veggie sausages, cauli cheese, kale and roast peppers and courgettes.

Oneborneverydecade · 28/01/2021 18:39

But @prettybird how are you tanning your boobs?! Clutches pearls

@ShagMeRiggins I am offended because you didn't acknowledge my photo! I'm reminded that I don't have @prettybird 's assets

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 18:41

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal yes I’ve not been able to find aubergine or courgettes the last few times I’ve been out.

Oneborneverydecade · 28/01/2021 18:42

L: creamy celeriac soup with added butter. I need to find something to stop the flavour being quite so one dimensional, but it was nice and filling
D: left over moussaka
3lts water
I slept for 2.5 hours in the middle of the day which made it seem much shorter. Yay!

prettybird · 28/01/2021 18:44

Oneborneverydecade - I'm hoping expecting nothing to be exposing them in quite the same way the next time I wear the dress out in public Smile

My target is my 60th in April - but I suspect it will only be a meal at home with dh, my dad (extended household) and hopefully my student son down from Aberdeen.

prettybird · 28/01/2021 18:45

Typo there: " not to be exposing them" Blush

BrassicaBabe · 28/01/2021 18:47

Thanks for the stress article links @nowlook I'll save those for this evening.

@prettybird You're hot!

StuntNun · 28/01/2021 18:54

Oneborn if BIWI's recommendation for adding leeks fried in butter to celeriac mash extends itself to soup then I would try throwing some leek in there to make it less one-dimensional.

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 19:01

Just scrolled back and saw your positive comments about my lunch! Thank you! I do find it helps me a lot if I make the effort to make at least some of my meals as nice looking as possible, as well as tasty. Feels more special that way...

Can’t remember names (hopeless, I know!) but the omelette was literally just three eggs sprinkled with some black sesame seeds, cooked for a few mins, turned over (messily, because I didn’t use the nonstick pan!) and sliced. I highly doubt it’s any kind of authentic omelette unless it’s entirely accidental.

I’ve only been cooking with Korean ingredients for a few months so I’m by no means an expert, but from what I know and have experienced Korean cuisine is definitely more spicy than Japanese - they love chilli and they really love garlic! And as yet I’ve not found it as varied as Chinese (understandable since China is such a vast country with so many different regions). I love cooking Korean because it’s not as intimidating to me as Japanese - I’d feel more under pressure trying to make perfect sushi/sashimi/tempura etc. Korean seems quite relaxed to me in comparison.

Kimchi is very pungent indeed, with reference to MASH... (I’m showing my age too!).

And now I fancy Korean Fried Chicken! 😆😆

The ‘kim’ is actually an approximation - the sound in Korean is somewhere between ‘k’ and ‘g’ (hence kimbap is also spelt as gimbap in English), and is the word for seaweed sheets. ‘Bap’ is the word for rice.

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 19:02

@Oneborneverydecade Chorizo goes very well with celeriac. You can also mix it with other root veg for more depth.

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 19:03

And white pepper!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 28/01/2021 19:13

Thanks, @Ninkanink.

I’m definitely sticking nori sheets on next week’s shopping list.

I’ve managed no food at all yet today owing to busyness and lack of appetite to remind me. I’ve been drinking the water, and had a coffee this morning (small amount of full fat milk as out of cream). Dinner tonight is veg soup with cheese and ham plate.

cheeseisthebest · 28/01/2021 19:20

I thought that was hilarious!! Grin
Lyrata · 28/01/2021 19:21

I haven’t noticed any shortages but I have noticed all the aubergines around lately are around 1/2 the normal size.

cheeseisthebest · 28/01/2021 19:22

Yeh we have struggled to get courgettes

BurningGubbins · 28/01/2021 19:36

No courgettes, pak choi or broccoli coming on my shop tonight. I'm missing the courgettes most (there's something I never thought I'd say!).

I am having a crazy, busy, stressful week. I started a new job, which was a step up as it was but my line manager is being redeployed so I'll be be going up another level for a few months, in an area I know nothing about. Plus homeschooling. And our bloody Internet is on the blink.

I'm sticking to LCHF because I don't have the brain space to think about cheating! I've not been able to keep up with the thread but hope everyone is doing well.

Ninkanink · 28/01/2021 19:38

Oops I just realised I used sesame seeds without thinking!

It was a very tiny amount tbf, probably about 1/2 a tsp.

kilojules · 28/01/2021 19:47

@Almahart

I'm going to treat myself to a trip to Aldi later. Can anyone remind me of best BC buys? It's a while since I've done a BC shop there

On my list: ff yoghurt, almond butter, halloumi fries, scope out the pastas to see if any strange bean ones are there.

What else? If I wanted to make LC ish porridge later in BC what would I need other than chia seeds?

Aldi West Country Butter! So good Casserole meat/chicken trays with portions of meat and casserole veg which are handy for quick bung in the oven/slow cooker (avoid eating the carrots or non LC veg) Ribeye steak For after BC (and in moderation) their mixed salted nuts are really good and only about £1.30 per pack Enjoy!
Oneborneverydecade · 28/01/2021 19:50

@StuntNun @Ninkanink thank you for the recommendations, I'll definitely make some more this week so will try leek or chorizo

That sounds v stressful @BurningGubbins well done for koko

kilojules · 28/01/2021 20:01

Bit late in the day as usual post work catch up on posts and smiling at the banter

Coffee with cream this morning
L: large Greek salad dressed with olive oil
S: boiled eggs
D: cauliflower rice with oxtail and beef stew

Thanks to this hive I made some Kale crisps yesterday. Turned out crispy but with a bitter aftertaste. Not sure if just the ones I bought. Will try and play around with flavours before I call it a day.

Also tried out celeriac for the first time (made buttery mash). Yes they should come with a dedicated ahem "chopper" Channing Tatum maybe.. Found the smell overpowering so really glad it didint actually taste like celery (which I cannot stomach). I think I prefer the taste of cauli mash to the celeriac mash. Hopeful the chips turn out nice! Will give those a try this weekend

ShagMeRiggins · 28/01/2021 20:02

oneborneverydecade I meant to acknowledge your photo, apologies.

Thing is...you are so slender in it. Obviously you don’t see that, and that’s why you’re here, but it got me thinking about the different roads we’re on.

I don’t mind it, by the way. Some start at 300+, many are 4-6 stone overweight, other just need that last couple of stones, or the last 10lbs.

What I like is that we’re all here together. That makes me happy.

And if I’m honest, you look amazing in that photo (to me)—all lean and lanky and ready for your photo shoot! So yeah, I’d do you, too. Grin

nowlook · 28/01/2021 20:12

I've taken a few hours away from this thread to recover following Shag's vulgarity.

But fucking spiders, those really are top drawer norks @prettybird.

Another day here of salivating over the recipe threads before making a burger for lunch and an omelette for supper HmmGrin I'm following the rules to the letter, but must try harder.

I'm also drinking so much water and tea, but seem to have an unquenchable thirst. Should I worry?

Most of all, I'm just a bit tired of all the suffocating misery in the news.
