This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Evening all
Checking in to tell you I made two glorious things today
Shepherds pie with the cauli mash. Thanks to whoever said to add a bit of leek to it - it made all the difference.
And at lunch I cooked this cravingsbychrissyteigen.com/cravings/adeenas-greenas-recipe/
I wasn’t sure about whether we could have crispy chilli oil or a stock cube so I used a quarter of an oxo chicken stock cube and just used chillis to add the spice. Soooo good. Salty and crunchy and yum.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 26/01/2021 17:43

We have butchers sausages, so no packaging. I've always assumed they would be meatier than most. Am I deluded? We've also made our own sausages in the past which were lush - maybe we need to get some of those into the freezer.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/01/2021 17:49

Thanks all for the sympathetic comments Flowers

Shag, I'm not even going to wish you luck with those trousers, my faith in you is so rock solid I know you won't need anything as flimsy as 'luck'.

Am off to bed really early tonight with a book. Just do my yoga first, be impressed I can now see over my belly, then hopefully sleep through it.

Serious Burns Unit Grin

I'm hungry and antsy too.

Doesn't help that the food choices dwindle over the week. I'm shielding, so totally reliant on the online shop & the milkman, & eggs are in short supply again! Eek!

ChristMyArse · 26/01/2021 18:20

Another one here who's hungry and antsy!

I went to physio today at the hospital - it was like a Big Day Out. Can't remember the last time I left the house recently. Fair to say I am a broken woman this afternoon after being pulled and pushed about.

I'm about to eat the last of the cheeseburger pie and have a dollop of Greek yoghurt to accompany it. I too fancy wine, but I'm not going there.. I suspect once I start I won't stop!

ListenLinda · 26/01/2021 18:22

Just caught up with the thread.

DH was on the early shift today so had a nice few hours together before we picked up the kids. Just inhaled a steak and salad, with cubed cheese in for good measure.
Don’t know why I am so hungry today. Had lunch at 12, had a few spoons of greek yog at 2. Not done so well with the water today but going to see if I can get another litre down before bed.

BIWI · 26/01/2021 18:27
@Hopeislost thanks for that recipe. It has lentils, so will wait until bootcamp is over, or maybe replace with some thing else - diced mushrooms maybe?

I am Hungry today! Came home and munched two boiled eggs with mayo and a wedge of cheese. Then looked at the clock and realised that it was close to my usual dinner time (eating later without kids tonight) so I guess that explains it. Will just eat a smaller portion of dinner.

For more experience low carb people: I have read people talking about appetite dropping and only going to 2 meals etc. I am wondering if I am more suited (and my lifestyle) is more suited to 4 smaller meals? Is that a bad idea? Find that I am really full after eating meals, but don't want to stop as I will otherwise be hungry later (dinner at 5.30, if not bug enough I end up snacking at 9ish). So smaller portion of dinner and something allowed at 9 like cheese/egg/meat? Or koko focusing on 3 meals and making them bigger. Wonder if anyone else feels like this?
Eating more meals isn't a good idea - all you'll be doing is increasing your blood sugar levels so you'll be producing more insulin. Much better to eat 2 or 3 meals a day. You will find that your appetite drops on Bootcamp - especially if you're eating enough fat and protein.

I wonder - are you scared of being hungry? This isn't the first time you've mentioned it!

OP posts:
BIWI · 26/01/2021 18:29

All those of you that are hungry - at this stage of Bootcamp there's no reason why you shouldn't eat something. Clearly, only if it's low carb though! But you also need to look at what you're eating and drinking and make sure that you really are eating enough fat, and protein - and that you are drinking all the water. It's really, really important.

@ShagMeRiggins Yes, you're quite right, I should have ferreted around for the Marigolds, but I was past the point of return by the time I realised a) what a dreadful job it was and b) that I'd wrecked my fingers! (And c) I hate the feel of them on my hands)

You need to be really careful here - just because they're called butchers sausages doesn't mean to say they don't have fillers in them. Best make your own if you're so inclined, or buy the high meat content ones from the Supermarket. (Check the back of the pack before you buy!). these are the ones I like from Sainsbury's

I'm sorry, I know it's been discussed over and over but I'm scared of all the fat!! I mean I love it, just scared

BIWI · 26/01/2021 18:36

@Mixitupalot

Sorry, I've missed loads and will catch up tonight. I was just wondering if i can have 1 or 2 beef sausages? Are they ok carb wise, i was thinking of having them after my run tonight.

Well done everyone on the losses I've sen so far...amazing.

See post above! Always, always check the back of the pack for the carb count. Sausages can be surprisingly/horrifically high in carbs.

ListenLinda · 26/01/2021 18:38

@BIWI them sausages are delicious aren’t they! I buy a pack every time I go in Sainsburys.

BIWI · 26/01/2021 18:41

@Primitivo

Cauliflower rice opinions please! I've just bought M&S cauli rice for the first time and was really impressed with the 'riceyness' compared to my usual grating, but dismayed at the plastic bag in a plastic bag packaging. Can anyone recommend a good brand of cauli rice that comes in a fair sized packet, that doesn't have too many plastic bags involved? Thanks!

I've noticed Im getting stuck fridge foraging rather than planning meals out. Means I rely too heavily on lumps of cheese...

Finally, what's the consensus on miso? Yay or nay?

Thanks!

@Primitivo Sainsbury's do one (in the fruit and veg section, so a fresh one) that is only in one bag. It's a 300g portion. I usually have one in the freezer.

Re miso - in what format? I've just looked up the carb count for miso paste for soup, from Sainsbury's, and they give a portion (25g) as 2.7g carbs. So it's not too bad.

Why?! Have you read all the stuff on the spreadsheet about low carbing and how it works?

You really need to trust us Grin

Or believe these people:

The relationship between intake of saturated fats and heart disease has been extensively explored in studies including more than 75,000 people and in recent years, reviews have failed to find convincing evidence for its harmful effects

Evening campers!

shagmeriggins you have inspired me (againWink)
Below I attach my first pair of tailored pants in 15years and I will fit these by the end of bootcamp!

Also stepped on the scales this morning and had lost 4lb overnight what's that all about?!?! Hope it stays off for next week!

I was out all day and ended up buying carrots and hummus (8.8g carbs so only ate half) and two boiled eggs, it was all I could find in Asda Sad

I've had dinner of bacon and veg soup, seriously low carb roll with half a block of butter 🤤

May have a little smidge of Greek yoghurt to my menu later if I feel hungry!!

And all the water!!!

BIWI · 26/01/2021 18:46

@Oneborneverydecade

I just popped into Waitrose and the lovely lady on self scan mentioned that I look like I've lost a lot of weight (I worked with her before leaving to have DD in 2018). She's made my day!

L: Chicken mayo salad
D: Ribs with celeriac & leek mash and another veg
Black tea and water

I did just have a tiny piece of rocky road because I seem to have begun feeling I need something sweet after a meal again. Need to go cold turkey

@venusandmars you're v clever

@Oneborneverydecade

STOP CHEATING!

You don't need anything sweet after a meal, and the whole point of Bootcamp is to break the hold that sweet things have over us.

By giving in, all you're doing is sabotaging your own efforts.

(Also - where's your breakfast?)

Really? You could have bought yourself some cheese - some of those mini/lunchbox portions. Or a packet of ham or corned beef. Or a pot of Greek yoghurt. Or a pot of full fat cottage cheese. Plenty of lower carb options than carrots and hummus!

I did look for yoghurt but it was in those snacks bits at the front, only low fat with granola. I can't eat regular meat either, religious reasons and don't eat pork Blush

I never thought about cheese (big stick taken and duly noted)Grin

prettybird · 26/01/2021 18:54

@MrsTaytodarling - I know it's a leap of faith, but rather than being scared of the fat, try, even if it's just for a day, to embrace the fat. Enjoy the tastiness of (say) pork medallions cooked in butter, how nice veg cooked in or finished off with butter are, the creaminess of full fat Greek yoghurt, how lovely leeks cooked in butter & cream are, how tasty an omelette cooked in butter with some Boursin is, cauliflower cheese with a sauce made of cream and plentiful handfuls of grated cheese....Smile you get the idea Wink Appreciate the flavours.

Just for a day. And then another day. And another day. And see how your appetite reduces and the weight comes off. Smile

While you're giving it a go, read the resources explaining why fat is ok, as BIWI suggests.

MrsTaytodarling · 26/01/2021 18:54

@BIWI yes I've read it all! Maybe i just feel fat today Grin

Ratherchillyinhere · 26/01/2021 18:55

Had a bit of a rubbish week at week. Alcohol and ate stuff I shouldn't.

Not 'rubbish' but wasn't low carb Sad

So I didn't lose anything but didnt put anything on either - so I'm sitting in sainsburys car park having just done my shop for the week.

All good stuff. Back on it.

cheeseisthebest · 26/01/2021 18:56

Just catching up!
Kitchen cleaning sounds impressive, bet you burnt loads of calories!
Today I've had breakfast - smoked salmon and cream cheese
Lunch - veg and stilton soup
Tea - chicken breast tray bake with courgette, peppers, chorizo, cherry tomatoes, olives, feta, garlic, onion and then had sour cream on top. Also had some broccoli on the side. Was absolutely delicious. Even my kids ate it with new potatoes too. I didnt really have the onion.

I'm stuffed now!

cheeseisthebest · 26/01/2021 18:57

Also one tea, one cream coffee and almost my 2.5 litres of water. One pint with salt and lemon.
