Morning all.

We've completed our ten weeks - and I can see from the Spreadsheet just how well it's gone!

But just because the ten weeks are up, doesn't mean we have to stop. So here's a bright, shiny new chat thread for us to keep chatting and supporting each other.

Well done to all those KOKO. We finished the last of the Christmas treats last night so I braved the scales this morning. I am 1lb above the lowest weight I recorded last BC, so am pleased with that.

Onwards and downwards now! I have made a meal plan for the week and done the shopping so am all set! My plan is to do a week of BC Light in the first 'easing' in week.

GorgeousGoldies · 09/01/2021 12:59

MrsHunt that’s exactly the weight I was this morning!

Went for a walk with my MIL this morning who seems to be clearing out her Christmas chocolates; unfortunately in our direction. The DC will he happy but it’s more temptation for me to resist. To be fair, I haven’t really mentioned I’m doing low carb and she knows I’m a chocoholic, so it’s very kind of her.

I’m trying to run every day which is making me super hungry, but trying to fill myself with Boot Camp friendly food.

Everyone is doing so well at getting back on the track after Christmas 🙌

VeryLittleOwl · 09/01/2021 14:26

We've reached total role reversal here - DH has been tucking into a tub of ice cream while watching the football while I have a cheese platter!!

Oneborneverydecade · 09/01/2021 14:33

@BrassicaBabe same! And then despite gaining and promising myself I'll be good today, I ate a small portion of DS2s birthday cake 😳

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 09/01/2021 14:59

I just made this fabulous cauliflower cheesy ‘bread’ with dip.
www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a50705/cheesy-cauli-bread-recipe/

Really yummy and really filling. Oh and really easy Grin

Also, am now lower in weight than I’ve ever been as an adult, down half a kilo from Xmas eve to 85.0. Exciting times - interested to see where I’ll end up. The top end of a normal bmi would put me at 78kg, so that seems sensible to aim for. Uncharted territory...

Takingontheflab · 09/01/2021 15:13

I'm having a really hard time and seem to have gone off the rails this weekend. I need a really clean start. I'm going to be beyond devestated with myself if i let all my hard work go. I've barely lost anything since September and it's time to stop wasting my efforts.

I need a really big slap around the face. and a cry

Oneborneverydecade · 09/01/2021 15:20

@Ifeelmuchlessfat well done, what a fantastic achievement

@Takingontheflab there's a few of us struggling to get back to it, hopefully bootcamp will be the slap we all need. But hugs whilst you feel like crying

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 09/01/2021 15:53

I weighed myself a couple days ago to see what damage I'd done by stopping low carb for a month. My last bc weight was 14st 2, my weight 2 days ago was 14st 7. I have no idea how I only put on 5lb. So I thought maybe I just got lucky and found the 'sweet spot' on the kitchen floor.

But I wighed myself this morning and I'm now 14st 3, that's a 4lb drop Shock I'm hoping I never just found another sweet spot Grin

Whatever it is it's great motivation to keep going through the first week's cravings and carb flu.

B. Fasted
L. Cheese and onion omelette with bulletproof coffee
D. Mexican meatballs with cauli rice and buttered veg

StuntNun · 09/01/2021 16:13

I don't know about that Taking. In my not incinsiderable experience there is often a natural pause in weight loss at around the six month mark. So you could look at it as a three-month plateau which ensures that your body is now perfectly prepared to start dropping pounds again when you get back to strict Bootcamp in a week's time.

ChristMyArse · 09/01/2021 18:14

Quick neurotic question - on day 8 and my tea pigs arrived. Had 2 apple and cinnamon then realised that it's got fruit pieces in the tea.. that's alright yes?! 😳😁

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 09/01/2021 18:37

My mum tried to offload all her Christmas stuff onto us too Gorgeous Goldies. She tells us all to eat healthy and in the next breath expects me to take home tons of Quality Street! 😁

Lyrata · 09/01/2021 19:21

Oh massive sympathy to you Takingontheflab - you are honestly doing really well and a few wobbles don’t mean it’s wasted effort. I doubt many of us here have weight loss pointing in a neat line down! There are stalls and gains and whooshes.

You’ll get back on it and soon this difficult period will be a distant memory.

ZiggZagg · 09/01/2021 19:30

I've really struggled the last few days, I'm starting the days off amazingly and then by 5/6pm I'm reaching for biscuits and jellies 🙈🙈

I'm just not in the mindset I was before Christmas! Hopefully, starting bootcamp proper on Monday will help me as I will need to take accountability! I hope everyone else is feeling ok Thanks

Lyrata · 10/01/2021 07:31

Weighed today at 9 stone 9 - so just a whisker below my previous low point of 9 stone 9 1/2 on the 21st Dec.

As I’ve said, I don’t think the Christmas binge was necessarily worth it in terms of how awful I felt and how much it derailed me. I need to find a way to indulge without going mad - but that can be done once I’m comfortably into maintenance!

Today, I’m going to make a chicken and mushroom soup from that ruled website somebody linked: www.ruled.me/herb-chicken-mushroom-stew/

That will be my lunches next week!

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2021 09:11

Ping pong! My weight is all over the place!! Yes I am UP again! 2 of those ponds back this morning.. ! 🤷‍♀️ .. 🤔.. But it was another good bootcamp day.. cheese and mushroom omelette for brunch , prawns broccoli chorizo on broccoli for dinner, a bit of cold cheeseburger pie in between and 5hours cutting hedges pruning trees and hauling wood in the garden !! Day 7 of no Alcohol ..
So weight is daft !! But I am undaunted !! ...
Another day basically doing the same ..
It will move....

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2021 09:13

Thats 2 pounds back of yesterday's weight whoosh of 3.5 down .. sigh.. its a journey though not a race..( keep telling oneself that)

Oneborneverydecade · 10/01/2021 10:16

I've just spotted that Daisy May Cooper is losing weight with lchf. If you're here Daisy hello! and you were robbed on Taskmaster Grin Oh and ignore the naysayers on Instagram saying its calories in vs calories out!

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/01/2021 11:26

Well dinner was a let down last night! I'm quite disappointed, took me 2 hours to make! Goddamn dried up manky meatballs 🙈

I need to use the recipe book @Takingontheflab uses, your meals always look amazing!!

B. Fasting
L. Probably omelette again
D. Keto taco casserole 🙏 this turns out Grin

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/01/2021 12:07

Just weighed myself. You know it's bad when you take the hair bobble off your wrist because you think it will make a difference 🤦‍♀️😂

ZiggZagg · 10/01/2021 12:15

Actually stepped on the scales this morning and had a bit of a whoosh! Have lost 3lbs this week which means I'm just 1lb up on what I ended last bootcamp now! So I am motivated again! I'm going to get straight into bootcamp proper tomorrow so will do 3 weeks instead of 2, hoping to still feel as positive as I do right now and koko Grin

Oneborneverydecade · 10/01/2021 12:33

I think I'll join you @ZiggZagg

There are some great cooks on here, I'm always really impressed. I don't think I would still be following this woe if I was responsible for the cooking

DD and I made cup cakes before 9am this morning in an effort to use up some leftover birthday ganache/chocolates. I just have to resist them until my teen spots them and they're gone

Did anyone else here suffer gestational diabetes and if yes, have you noticed that your child finds it easy to gain weight? I did with DS2 and DD. DS2 LOVES carbs especially sweet stuff and needs to lose weight. Dr Fung suggests a link, what do you think @StuntNun?

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/01/2021 12:57

Did anyone else here suffer gestational diabetes and if yes, have you noticed that your child finds it easy to gain weight?

I had GD with my 1 and 2 yo right from the start of both pregnancies.
My 2yo is super super skinny but crazy for anything sweet, although she hardly eats anything and has to get iron supplements. My 1yo is a little tank but prefers meat and veg and often leaves her sweet which if I'm not fast enough my 2yo is away with it!

ZiggZagg · 10/01/2021 13:14

I had GD with DS 3, he loves sweets but is a little skinny thing, he just eats and eats and never puts anything on!

Lyrata · 10/01/2021 14:02

Keeping my hands busy this weekend!

Happy Christmas Bootcampers!
StuntNun · 10/01/2021 15:38

It's difficult to say Oneborn. There is an association between high birth weight and a lifelong tendency to be overweight. On the other hand, babies with a low birth weight can also often end up overweight as if they've been pre-programmed to lay down bigger fat stores in order to survive the presumed famine. It's down to epigenetics, which is the way gene expression is altered by environmental factors. You can see it in the way overweight parents often have overweight children. It's easy to assume this is just because of the food environment the children are growing up in. However when you look at studies of identical twins adopted by two different sets of parents, the twins have more in common with each other, with respect to weight issues, than they do with their adopted parents. Epigenetic changes also affect multiple generations. So if your grandmother went through a time of food shortage then your epigenetics will be affected as well as your mothers. It means that in a poor food environment, for example eating a highly processed and/or high carb diet, some individuals will be much more likely to gain weight than others depending on their grandparents' and parents' food history as well as their own. The only thing you can do to combat it is to provide a good food environment for your children. It's a bit of an out there idea, but to stop the obesity epidemic it may not be enough simply to start eating healthily as individuals. We may also need to ensure people are already eating a healthy diet before they start having children in order to promote beneficial epigenetic changes on a population level. I suspect it isn't just obesity that is affected by this. The huge increase in food allergies over a couple of generations could also be driven by epigenetic factors. Three of my children have dairy allergies and they may need to take careful action if they want to minimise the chance that their own children will have allergies too, and be more seriously affected.
