Morning all.

We've completed our ten weeks - and I can see from the Spreadsheet just how well it's gone!

But just because the ten weeks are up, doesn't mean we have to stop. So here's a bright, shiny new chat thread for us to keep chatting and supporting each other.

StuntNun that made me laugh. I have hidden the scales underneath a cabinet so I don't have to see them!
Have had quorn bacon, fried eggs and a tomato for breakfast and two squares of the 85% dark chocolate. There's no milk choc or cake left in the house and I do have plenty of meat, veg and cheese for later.
I am going to make DD some lunch and then look for a dance exercise on YouTube

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 11:30

takingonthefab I was up a pound this morning also , despite anexemplary day yesterday.. It happens ,.. sometimes it seems to be a day or so before a whoosh!
yes keep doing ,, it will happen ( and really concentrate on what you have already lost from when you started , which I know has been loads)

BIWI · 06/01/2021 11:31

Why Quorn bacon?!

This is the antithesis of Bootcamp given how ultra processed it it.

Ingredients:

Mycoproteinâ„¢ (49%), Rehydrated Free Range Egg White, Rapeseed Oil, Flavouring (contains Smoke Flavourings, Colour: Iron Oxide), Humectant: Glycerol

This is how Quorn is made:

Quorn is made from the soil mould Fusarium venenatum strain PTA-2684 (previously misidentified as the parasitic mould Fusarium graminearum). The fungus is grown in continually oxygenated water in large, otherwise sterile fermentation tanks

How this can be construed as a healthy food is really beyond me - generally, not just for Bootcamp!

bit of a hammy day !

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 11:34

and day 4 not drinking .. Halo

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 06/01/2021 11:39

I ate the Quorn because it was low carb and I really like the taste. The description of how it's made is rather off putting though. I don't intend to buy any more but it does pain me to throw away food, even though from that description Quorn barely qualifies!

Oneborneverydecade · 06/01/2021 11:49

I've just enjoyed chicken mayo salad lettuce wraps and tonight I think I'm having fajita chicken in lettuce Confused

I was lucky to lose this morning as I had too much homemade bread yesterday. DH burnt my sprouts and I felt hard done by.

Good luck to anyone homeschooling today. One day in and my almost 9yo is grumpy as hell

venusandmars · 06/01/2021 11:58

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously Interesting that you avoid the scales. I prefer to confront it now, and then see great progress by next week..

B - avocado salsa on protein rye bread (4g of carbs per slice)
L - left over leek, kale and cheese omlette
D - slow cooked lamb stew with leek and celeriac mash, and broccoli

BIWI · 06/01/2021 12:43

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

I ate the Quorn because it was low carb and I really like the taste.

But it's not low carb! It's either 5.4g per 100g or 3.1g per 100g depending on which bacon product you're using, whereas real bacon is less than 0.5g carbs per 100g!

So it fails on two counts.

I’m impressed with anyone who can face the scales. I also need to get back on track before I weigh, otherwise I fear it would send me howling into the wilderness.

Trying to write an essay today and struggling to focus so obviously thinking about food! I actually miss being at work.

MrsOmelette · 06/01/2021 13:59

You know when you’re in the low-carb zone when all you can think about is the cauliflowers you bought earlier 😆. Kids and I are making pizzas for their dinner, I’m not tempted though.
B - cheese & mushroom omelette
L - chicken tikka & gherkins
D - homemade chilliburger & salad

BurningGubbins · 06/01/2021 14:40

I’m really struggling to get my head back in the game too. I have a good day and then the following one is so hard. I know I just have to get over this hump, but still...
Plus I have put on weigh more weight than anyone here has posted so far. I was really close to being in the healthy weight range but now I’m not.

I just need to get into the rhythm of what the new normal is - wfh, homeschool etc. I frankly really enjoyed not having to to cook from scratch every day over the break, I got so much time back!

BurningGubbins · 06/01/2021 14:41

*way more weight Grin

Totalshambles · 06/01/2021 15:49

Have some lamb mince for dinner but don’t fancy moussaka, which is what I originally planned as we had a type of aubergine tomatoey and cheesey thing just the other day. Anyone have any ideas for something else? I have most stuff in.

Ninkanink · 06/01/2021 15:57

Maybe a kebab? Ottolenghi recipe referenced above by pp looks really good!

Or you could make a spiced/curried cottage pie with a root veg topping.

Ninkanink · 06/01/2021 15:58

Meant shepherd’s pie obviously!

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 16:05

The Ottolenghi kebab is really good, I have used goose fat instead of the suet , also it probably would be jut as good using green or yellow pepper to save carbs .. I've added smoked hot paprika to my mix before.. also tend to make into kofta now rather than kebabs ..

Totalshambles · 06/01/2021 16:42

ah that's interesting re goose fat instead of suet as that put me off (have none)!! Thanks guys will go for that!

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 16:49

TotalShambles its difficult to do it weight for weight, but I think (been a while since I made them,) that I just put a dessert spoon of goose fat in in the mix.. Anyway they were certainly not dried up.. I aslo used a higher fat mince beef ..

Lyrata · 06/01/2021 17:07

@BurningGubbins I am in the same boat! Yesterday I felt like I had turned a corner and felt zen and in control. Today I was eating cheese out of the fridge. I’m not sure what’s wrong because my diet is exactly the same as it was and I’ve been back on LC for 10 days now. It sucks!

BrassicaBabe · 06/01/2021 17:26

Isn't lamb fat both the tastiest and grossest thing out there?! Love it hot from the oven. But within not very long the drips turns into gross hard fat lumps Hmm

Takingontheflab · 06/01/2021 17:54

Struggling with a migraine today, made cheeseburger pie but have been in bed since midday. I don't think i can face any food but worried I'll suddenly be starving once at work. Jazzed mine up with gerkins and bacon and some bbq seasoning in the mince and its banging according to the child.

Happy Christmas Bootcampers!
BurningGubbins · 06/01/2021 18:38

Lyrata My sympathies! I’m only 5 days in but have been on/off with it which obviously just makes it harder. I’ve had a pretty good couple of days now, but not happily. Maybe it’s the weather. I first started in May so the lure of comforting carbs was not as strong...

My first mini goal is to have lost the Christmas weight by the end of January. Flinging the kids in bed and then doing today’s yoga with Adrienne.

Takingontheflab that pie looks great! I hope you feel well enough to eat it.

Totalshambles · 06/01/2021 19:04

Ok I can confirm that ottenlenghi kebab recipe is totally delicious and absolutely clean plates here (including kids) and none left for lunch tomorrow sadly! And the kitchen smells divine!! YUM!!

Laska2Meryls · 06/01/2021 19:49

Fantastic total did you use red pepper or green/yellow? glad yu liked it ,, its one of out favourites for the bbq season, but i am going to make it again this week now.

I have just made my first cheeseburger pie ( not eaten any , its for cold snacks) .. so fiddled with the recipe a tad,(as I always do) added garlic , smoked paprika, oregano and a few chopped pickled jalapeno peppers ... I didnt use cream in the topping but a little cream cheese instead.. realised its really a bit like a moussaka topping .. It smells divine ..

Dinner turned out to be ham salad ,with h/m coleslaw.. (i know that we are not supposed to have carrot really , but I've never found it to be make a difference really to my weight loss so I have a bit now and then )
