BIWI · 14/12/2020 01:07

So finally we arrive at week 10!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

One more week to hold out against the Christmas chocolates, and all the other temptations. And for you to decide what your strategy is for coping with the whole holiday period.

It's not an easy time!

But one thing I do know is that those of you who have stuck with it over the last ten weeks have done really well. The losses have been amazing Flowers

So let's have one more really good week!

I'm actually kind of proud of myself for having and enjoying one small piece as honestly the pre LCHF me would have struggled to ignore the finished cheesecake waiting to be eaten in the fridge, and then definitely gorged on it tonight. I never thought this change of attitude was possible

Lyrata · 15/12/2020 20:46

Well done, @Oneborneverydecade! Such a great feeling - I hope to be saying the same come the 25th.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 15/12/2020 21:05

Its interesting @Oneborneverydecade everytime i get properly into this way of eating i lose interest in food. It becomes an inconvenience really and i wonder if this is actually how it should be and indeed how naturally skinny people feel most of the time (hence many of them not understanding what the problem is with losing weight)

I read once that people who have had a gastric bypass have a section of their stomach literally bypassed and they as a result they find their appetite changes entirely. Essentially the hormonal imbalance which made them overeat was fixed and i wonder if limiting carbs has a similar effect.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 15/12/2020 21:09

On a side note, does anyone know what effect this diet has on blood pressure? i think i have seen it lowers it yes? Well i have naturally low blood pressure (90/60) and while my head rushes have not been any worse i have felt myself to have a lack of energy generally, feeling very fatigued. i have been riding it out because its so important for me to lose weight.

It could also be because i have two children under 3 and its midwinter :D

BurningGubbins · 15/12/2020 21:55

Thanks for the info StuntNun, interesting stuff! I love eggs too but variety in my food is really important to me. Not sure I could stick it!

StuntNun · 16/12/2020 06:03

Iamnotacerealkiller cutting carbs lowers high blood pressure; I've never heard of it further reducing already low blood pressure. Lack of energy/fatigue could also be a sign you need more electrolytes (assuming no "big" cause such as hypothyroid.) I buy electrolyte powder from Amazon and put a little into each glass of water I drink.

Doilooklikeatourist · 16/12/2020 07:18

I've only lost 3lb in total this Bootcamp , however , if I hadn't done Bootcamp I would undoubtedly have put 3lb on , definite progress ✅
Need to take waist measurement and try the belt of truth ( but I'm huddled in bed with my dressing gown on and a hot water bottle , listening to rain lashing down outside , so not getting up just yet )

DD and I made a meal plan to get us through DH birthday , Christmas and new year ( she's 24 and has lost 2 stone in the last year and now looks amazing , I always thought she was beautiful, anyway ) a few treats are allowed ,but we've lots of veg in the meal plan too

In other news , we have accepted an offer on our property ( I'm very relieved and delighted , DH however is panicking )
Downsizing and semi retirement , here we come !

Mimosa1 · 16/12/2020 09:38

My experiment with maintenance seems to be going well so far. @Doilooklikeatourist I've lost 1.5 kg this BC too and I'm trying to keep them off over Xmas instead of putting it all back and more which always seems to happen with diets for me...

Food yesterday:

  • b - seriously low carb bap, butter and tea
  • l - celeriac fish pie, 2 sq of 90% Lindt
  • d - 7 small pigs in blanket, big portion of mini carrots and hummus, strawberries

At 69.7 kg today. If I can start the next BC at 70 or below, I will be delighted.

BIWI · 16/12/2020 09:39

@Iamnotacerealkiller

Essentially the hormonal imbalance which made them overeat was fixed and i wonder if limiting carbs has a similar effect

This is how it works! There are three key hormones involved in weight loss/appetite control: insulin, grehlin and leptin. When they're balanced, which is when your blood sugar is in balance, you aren't hungry. When they're out of whack (which happens if you're eating too much carbohydrate) this is when you feel hungry. It's why, on a 'conventional' high carb diet you get hungry at around 11 in the morning and then again at around 3 in the afternoon.

Yes, this WOE will lower high blood pressure. Have you got a monitor to see how yours is faring now you're low carbing? I'd definitely check that out.

But that said, if you're lacking in energy and feeling fatigued, then you are most likely not eating enough fat or protein.

@Oneborneverydecade

I've put The Obesity Code on my Xmas list, I really think I'd benefit from being better educated

Have you not checked out the resources section of the spreadsheet? There's some really key stuff there that will help you learn more about low carbing. (That's not to say you shouldn't read The Obesity Code, but there's a whole lot more there for you that's free!)

That's good news @Doilooklikeatourist! I know it's been preying on your mind for a while, so glad it's happening for you Flowers

@biwi thank you I'll have a look. I don't find the spreadsheet very easy to use on my phone - I'll try again tho

prettybird · 16/12/2020 13:18

I've now started mince pie making season: 28 made yesterday. Most have been given away already - so that I actually need to make another batch Xmas Shock

Not tempted to have any so far but when I've sorted some space in the freezer, I'll freeze them so that they have to be eaten hot (I don't like hot mince pies Xmas Wink). I'll allow myself one mince pie over the Festive Period purely for quality control purposes Xmas Wink

ZiggaZiggArrgggghhhh · 16/12/2020 18:29

I have inadvertently fasted all day due to an emergency in work! Can I be bothered cooking? Can I hell! Just ordered a lovely mixed grill with salad and chicken wings starters, I'm starving to death here Grin

Takingontheundead · 16/12/2020 18:56

Ok its end of day 2 and I'm pretty much heaving over my scrambled egg dinner.
Can i give up tomorrow or will i have just absolutely wasted 2 days of efforts?

Fuck this for a game of egg and soldiers

StuntNun · 16/12/2020 19:16

Nah Taking don't force another day if you're not up for it. I didn't eat any eggs for 15 months while breastfeeding my DS4 who is allergic. Since then I can't eat too many eggs.

Takingontheundead · 16/12/2020 19:25

I could maybe dig deep and do it if i thought it was worth it...

I felt fine until tonight! I've chugged the water but no poop yet. I don't feel constipated.... but I'm usually daily so currently living in fear 🤣

itsmeagainagain · 16/12/2020 19:50

@Takingontheundead do you like egg Mayo?

Oneborneverydecade · 16/12/2020 20:10

You know that if you report a big loss post poop bootcampers are going to be queuing up to buy eggs before the weekend Grin

Lyrata · 16/12/2020 20:13

I am loving the Nando’s sauce suggestion. This is my standard dinner of two chicken thighs, courgette, aubergine, onion, peppers and tomatoes with a bit of feta. The Nando’s sauce is a nice way of mixing it up a bit for now.

I love the amount of vegetables I eat with this WOE.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 16/12/2020 20:27

I think this is where i mention i take magnesium on friday/saturday to time pooping before monday weigh in. Digestion is definitely slower.

In answer to above question re blood pressure. No i don't monitor it, it isn't low because of a condition. It is normal for me and doesn't cause problems generally other then i faint quite easily (but not for years) most of the medical people i speak to just kind of shrug and say 'lucky you' it means less chance of heart problems in the future and more leeway when it went up during pregnancy. It was high for me but still medically normal.

Someone mentioned elecrolyt powder upthread will try that for next round of bootcamp. Are there any with no sugar/carbs or artificial sweetener?

StuntNun · 17/12/2020 06:52

CerealKiller I use this brand of electrolyte powderr* which is sugar and artificial sweetener free. It works out cheap as well; I use half a scoop each time which is half a gram so £4.99 gets me 200 glasses of water.

Mimosa1 · 17/12/2020 11:09

I've had a mini woosh - 1lbs - which is a lot for me. I don't know if it will last (I hope!) but interesting as it show that you don't have to be perfect but you do have to be consistent on this maintenance malarkey!

StuntNun · 17/12/2020 13:32

I got this protein bread in Asda today. It's only 4g carbs per slice! It's dense like rye bread and seedy.
