Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 6

BIWI · 29/06/2020 07:14

Morning all

So here we are in the new, unexpected second half of Bootcamp!

Spreadsheet is here

Hopefully everyone should be in the swing of things now, and also hopefully we've left the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 behind us, so should be seeing steady losses.

If things aren't going the right way for you, have a good, hard look at what you've been eating and drinking. Make sure you haven't allowed carb creep - and also that you're following the rules!

If you've moved on to Bootcamp Light, make sure that you're keeping an eye on the amount of fruit or nuts/seeds and alcohol that you're allowing. Remember - always in moderation!

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

Have drunk lots of water..

1WildTeaParty · 03/07/2020 21:14

So sorry to hear this Brassica - what a sad accident.

Randomfatty · 03/07/2020 21:24

Sorry to hear that @BrassicaBabe Flowers

Great to hear about everyone’s losses and progresses 😀🌟😀

I also seem to have the grumps for the last couple of days ☹️☹️ Just feel so demotivated with life (I know I know sounds a bit dramatic 😓😫😓😩)

Been keeping to plan - think I need to move more but just lost my mojo although did a weights session yesterday and ended Up being a 1to1 with the trainer as no one else dialled in. So really pushed myself and am aching everywhere today!

Question I do have @BIWI or anyone else - I seem to have lost my appetite and am struggling to eat a normal portion of salad or veg.with my meals. Not snacking and don’t feel hungry everyday - normally I’m hungry for lunch and by dinner comes ready for that! Any tips anyone?

BIWI · 03/07/2020 21:38

Not being hungry is a great benefit of this WOE! Don't eat if you're not hungry. (Although you do need to keep an eye on this and make sure you're eating well when you do eat)

@BrassicaBabe I'm so sorry to hear that. I was just discussing with DS yesterday the pros and cons re veganism, and one of the things we discussed was that for ethically raised animals, the farmers have a very strong bond with each of their animals.

Mixitupalot · 03/07/2020 23:09

Well done everyone, the NSV are awesome too!

Has anyone tired these? They seem to be a great alternative to fizzy drinks. I only ever drink sparkling water so though these would be nice as a Saturday night “treat”

Sssssh!! 🕵️‍♀️
The scales went down 2lbs into the next stone this morning !... An xx.12lbs figure was seen! ( It may not be true though, they did this briefly a week ago) 🤞🤞🤞

No , but they look good though if no sweetener
SparklesAllOver · 04/07/2020 08:10

BrassicaBabe, gutted for you Flowers. MrsKoala, I am still not entirely motivated when it comes to exercise since joining Bootcamp, but found short, fun workouts on Youtube with Popsugar, a person called Krista Dipaulo. Workouts are around 30mins but go really quickly and I find her really inspiring - gets my 50yr old bottom off the sofa! Apologies for lack of clickylink.

SparklesAllOver · 04/07/2020 08:14

Oop, meant to say Christa Dipaulo.

Takingontheworld · 04/07/2020 08:20

Oh brassica that's gutting. I'm so sorry.

Yep full on bleed for me today with accompanying mehness.

Yes have found I'm not as hungry recently either, i feel I'm eating more intuitively now- however when i have to leave for work and force a dinner down it does feel wrong but i know I'll be starving later if i don't and it's mainly FLGV so don't stress about it.

Scales sts this AM which was reassuring that theyre not broken. Now I'm having a period I'll aim to not weigh till tuesday.

Emmie12345 · 04/07/2020 08:24

Hi everyone

Could I join at this stage please? I do keto on and off but have been going through a bit of an emotional time and feel like my eating is raging out of control so would love some support and accounatability as keto really improves my mood when am being strict .

Can someone link me to the rules please? Thanks ! X

Rshard · 04/07/2020 09:09

laska, that’s awesome! Well done!

Welcome emmie, the rules are on the spreadsheet of fabulousness which is linked in the op. Lovely bunch here.

devoncreamtea · 04/07/2020 09:34

More new peeps! Good on you for starting and welcome to the best bit of mumsnet! Brew

@BrassicaBabe such sad and distressing news. Hope you are feeling a bit better today. Flowers

I have seen a 157.2!! Which means I lost 2lbs in a day - I thought something was afoot as felt thinner! Hoping that it stays around for Monday’s weigh in! I feel really excited because I’m only a few pounds away from the 10’s and I haven’t been there for 2 years! Losing 4 lbs to get into the next Stone bracket feels doable in a couple of weeks, it’s so motivating!

devoncreamtea · 04/07/2020 09:35

Apologies for excessive exclamation marks...😬

BrassicaBabe · 04/07/2020 09:41

Thanks guys. I'm still really sad today. Not speaking to DH as he bawled me out about something unrelated while I was dealing with sheepy. So keeping my head down today and out of the way.

Anyway.

I appear to be 2.6lb down this week. Unheard of for me as near as damn it to goal weight. Planning roast duck and cauli cheese for dinner tonight and kebab takeaway tomorrow. On plan but highly calorific. So I'm logging my loss today!!

Day 28 no alcohol. The experiment finishes on Monday. I need a plan for after that. At the moment I don't know what that looks like. I don't want to be t-total. But don't want to slip back to where I was. And moderation is a bitch. Much to consider.

Emmie12345 · 04/07/2020 09:45

Thanks !

@BrassicaBabe I’ve been alcohol free for 3 months , can’t believe it feel a lot better (still a bit nuts though)

Can I ask what the ground rules say re heavy cream pls as I have a tendency to start swiggijng coffee and cream a lot when am trying to lcGrin

Emmie12345 · 04/07/2020 09:45

@rishard thanks !

@BrassicaBabe well done on a month that’s awesome !

Rshard · 04/07/2020 13:20

Snap devoncreamtea, I weighed in at 10’3 this morning so also tantalisingly close to the 10’s! We can definitely do it this boot camp.

Sorry that you’re still feeling sad brassica, don’t let it push you towards alcohol. You’ve done so very well to get to 28 days. Could you plan going forward be only at weekends or one evening a week and weekends? I think someone mentioned half bottles too?

prettybird · 04/07/2020 13:49

Sorry to read about your ram, brassica Sad

Re alcohol, after the 30 days, which you will get to Grin, why not allow a set day or days in a week, when you can enjoy a glass or two. If you're having a bottle, make sure you're sharing it with someone (either your dh when you're talking to him again Wink or a friend) so that you're not tempted to finish it on your own. Personally, I won't buy half bottles as you tend not to get decent wines/good value - but if that's what you need to do to restrict your temptation, then you should get half bottles.

MrsKoala · 04/07/2020 13:56

Wow 28 days @BrassicaBabe well done for not giving in yesterday when things were sad and tough.

I’ve been trying to reduce my drinking this last 2 weeks by going from doubles to single white rums/vodkas And upping the lime juice/fresh mint and having the first 2 drinks of the evening virgin soda, lime and mint which still feels mojitoish. Then having one single measure pre dinner and one after if I still want one (which I often don’t once I’m full of food). I also for the first time in ages have been having one alcohol free day a week. Which for me is quite something. I’m going to do 2 this week.

I’m also going to try a coffee and cream at about 5pm as that’s when I start feeling hungry and crave booze.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 04/07/2020 14:33

You guys are on a roll.
Nearing goal weight, NSVs, sticking with the booze reduction despite sad times (Thanks Brassica).
So inspiring.

I've hit 9 stone 5lbs for the first time since about 2003!
I fit the jeans I bought in 2017 telling myself I'd lose weight but instead ending up unable to pull them up. And now they aren't even snug.

Even a few weeks ago whilst they did up I had a huge muffin top. Not any more! Muffin top all gone Halo

Tornfelt · 04/07/2020 15:38

Brilliant losses everyone Smile

Burnshersmurfs · 04/07/2020 15:40

Fell off the wagon into a plate of dough balls last night, and compounded it with some late night biscuits. I'm spending the day having to exercise a lot of willpower, as I now just want to shovel sugar down my throat. I think it happened because I've been a bit slack about making a decent lunch, so was too hungry when I made the kids' dinner.
I'm posting mostly as an accountability measure- so I can promise myself to post tomorrow, and that'll add a bit of extra pressure to keep a lid on the sugar jar.

Takingontheworld · 04/07/2020 16:04

thinkingaboutittomorrow

Amazing!!!!

I spoke too soon about not feeling hungry/no cravings etc. Very almost just caved and ate a mini pork pie. .. held it briefly and then put it back, and ate cucumber sticks and boursin instead.

Gonna eat some seabass and a shit load of garlicky kale soon.
