Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 6

BIWI · 29/06/2020 07:14

Morning all

So here we are in the new, unexpected second half of Bootcamp!

Spreadsheet is here

Hopefully everyone should be in the swing of things now, and also hopefully we've left the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 behind us, so should be seeing steady losses.

If things aren't going the right way for you, have a good, hard look at what you've been eating and drinking. Make sure you haven't allowed carb creep - and also that you're following the rules!

If you've moved on to Bootcamp Light, make sure that you're keeping an eye on the amount of fruit or nuts/seeds and alcohol that you're allowing. Remember - always in moderation!

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

You're welcome @BrassicaBabe, I can't claim to have found them as someone else on a previous boot camp thread discovered them, Id never have had the patience to bother rolling out sausage meat. I've got visions of it sticking to a rolling pin or the work surface and not knowing what to do with it Smile well done to you @Takingontheworld on the weight loss this week too. And great NSVs @Laska2Meryls and @Rshard. So lovely to feel the rewards of sticking with it.

NigellaAwesome · 03/07/2020 14:23

@lurkingnolonger those pork patties would be an amazing base for a meatza. Maybe flatten them out a bit more, tomato paste and melted cheese baked in the oven. I'm going to pop to Tesco's tomorrow so will give it a go and report back.

@MrsKoala how was the courgette and goats cheese affair?

I bought a gazebo yesterday for distant outdoor entertaining. It's absolutely lashing here, and freezing too. Think we are going to light the fire and batten down for the day.

Duck pancakes tonight with lettuce instead of pancakes, and sans hoisin sauce.

BrassicaBabe · 03/07/2020 14:55

Ooooh @NigellaAwesome that sausage pizza thing raises the bar!!

prettybird · 03/07/2020 15:07

Rshard - had to do my stretches when I got home -(with incresing age, I've got a lot more disciplined about doing any stretching post a run Wink) and then watched Nicola do her daily briefing, which, with questions, lasts at least an hour. So it was an hour and a half before I got my shower! Shock I I had good bean-to-cup coffee while I was watching though as a reward for my run Wink

I did have to get a shawl to wrap round me for warmth. Grin

Takingontheworld · 03/07/2020 16:07

Right i am NOT happy.

About 2 weeks into starting i got a period. I don't have periods, I'm on the depo.

Week 6 and I'm having another WTAF.

Humpf. Why is it doing this to meeeee

prettybird · 03/07/2020 16:13

I'm not an expert, but I seem to recall @stuntnun explaining that the oestrogen released along with the fat cells can have an effect on periods (or even re-trigger them for those of us that are were peri-menopausal) - but it will balance out eventually.

BIWI · 03/07/2020 16:20

I think @prettybird is right.

Look at it this way - it's confirming that you're losing fat! All that oestrogen is being released as the fat melts away.

There isn't a pouty enough emoji for this 😂

I didn't realise it would potentially be monthly!!

I mean obviously ill take it if it means weight loss but i want prepared for this

Rshard · 03/07/2020 17:12

Same prettybird, I have to have a good old stretch after a run or my left hip is so sore!

Tornfelt · 03/07/2020 17:33

Lots of victories against the scales from lots of people!
Thank you BIWI and Brassica. That article is reassuring. Maybe my body is adjusting and all will come good. I thought I might look into taking an electrolyte supplement, although I have been salting my food, so thanks for the electrolyte chart.

Last three days food

B coffee with cream
3 eggs scrambled with butter

L salad ( spinach, watercress, rocket, peppers, cherry Tom's, green olives, half large avocado, large chunk chopped up roquefort and mayo

D 2x Heck sausages, FTGV and butter

B coffee with cream
3 eggs scrambled with butter

L salad ( spinach, watercress, rocket, peppers, cherry Tom's, green olives, half large avocado, large chunk chopped up brie and mayo

D FTGV buttered, chicken leg (skin on), mashed buttered Swede

B 3 eggs scrambled with butter
Coffee with cream

L salad ( spinach, watercress, rocket, peppers, cherry Tom's, green olives, half large avocado, skin on chicken thigh and mayo

D bolognese (15% fat beef mince, mushrooms, peppers) on buttered kale, cabbage, leeks and broccoli

I always have at least one more coffee with large spoonful of cream each day as well. I haven't been eating between meals, as not hungry, although I am ready for my dinner each night! Have lost 11lbs in total, so am obviously really happy with that. It's just the feeling crap when running which is a problem!
I really appreciate you looking this over, thank you!

Tornfelt · 03/07/2020 17:36

@Takingontheworld I have also had unexpected bleeding too. Am on HRT, so that confused me no end! Sympathies!

prettybird · 03/07/2020 17:46

Rshard - in my case, I'm trying to protect my right Achilles' tendon, which at the moment seems to be holding out. I'm going to try upping the distance next week.

BIWI · 03/07/2020 17:56

That all looks good to me, @Tornfelt! And if you've lost 11lbs, then something is obviously working.

It could be that it's just taking time for your body to get used to the new regime. That other site I linked to did suggest that it could take some time to become fat-adapted.

Hello all! I’m grumpy. I’ve hurt my neck - it happened yesterday when I woke up and has just got worse. I can’t do anything! Just had more painkillers but they aren’t helping ☹️
I have wanted comforting food which has been very irritating as thought I was past that! Are some low carb bread and p Butter; cream and strawberries too - so bit of higher carb day than normal for me. My mood matches the weather today. At least I don’t feel like I’m missing out on sunshine!

Tornfelt · 03/07/2020 18:03

Yes, maybe that's it. Reassuring that I'm eating the right stuff. Will keep going and hopefully the exercise will come good. Thanks again.

Tornfelt · 03/07/2020 18:08

The weather is beyond rubbish. Definitely grump inducing.

MrsKoala · 03/07/2020 18:11

@NigellaAwesome I am having it for dinner tonight. Getting everyone else fed and watered first so I can enjoy it. How do you cook your courgetti? Do you fry it in butter?

NigellaAwesome · 03/07/2020 18:31

I fried off the chorizo and tomatoes, then threw the courgetti on top, gave it a minute, then added the goats cheese. Sprinkled some black pepper and garlic granules before serving. I hope you enjoy it, mine was delicious.

LostaraYil · 03/07/2020 18:50

Congrats RShard, Laska and takingontheworld on your progress! And everyone else who's doing well...
I have spectacularly fallen off the wagon today, think eating chocolate spead out of the jar. I think it's hormonal cos my boobs hurt and I'm having hot flushes. Or maybe the extra strength allergy meds I've started today. Either way something snapped in my brain, though I think it's been slowly building up this week.

Trying to just drink water and read a book now the cravings are gone, and hoping I will be back to normal tomorrow.

Rshard · 03/07/2020 18:56

Very sensible prettybird. Definitely a good idea to increase the distance gradually. I’m mainly trying to get back in the routine of going regularly. Would like to get to a nice 5k three/four times a week. What’s your aim?

Ouch devon, that sounds painful. Hope it feels better soon.

Miserable here too tornfelt

BrassicaBabe · 03/07/2020 19:08

A cow has just gored my ram. He had a name. We've just had to put him down. Don't know why I'm telling you.

MrsKoala · 03/07/2020 19:26

Oh no @BrassicaBabe that’s sad. What was his name?

BIWI · 03/07/2020 19:41

Oh no! @BrassicaBabe that's awful.

Rshard · 03/07/2020 19:44
