Low Carb Bootcamp Léger! Notre quatre semaine est ici!

BIWI · 15/06/2020 07:33

It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

My DH is a bit like that, Nigella he just eats so much, I almost felt ill watching him eat tonight, he and DS had a huge pasta meal and they shovelled it down whilst I ate my aubergine parmigiana... then they sit watching me and DH was about to finish my aubergine when I stopped it as I had planned it for a second meal for myself. He had two enormous bowls of pasta, will have cheese & biscuits later and a mars bar before bed. Plus three or four beers. The annoying thing is that he is not overweight Envy. Sometimes he gets up at 2am for a sandwich. Hmm

I've taken to hiding my special treats.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/06/2020 20:50

DH's 'fast' days are like my overeating ones.

Mind you he's put on 20 lbs in lockdown (beer weight).

NigellaAwesome · 16/06/2020 20:53

Yesss! The getting up in the middle of the night for a snack.

Ha! Little does DH know that I have a substantial stash of macadamias and salted almonds hidden inside a giant box of coffee pods all sealed up. Nor will he ever find out.

He's stomped off because I told him I think he has an eating disorder. Sad

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 16/06/2020 20:56

I can one up that Grin - I asked DP earlier if she has been checked for Prader–Willi syndrome!

NumbsMet · 16/06/2020 20:57

Evening all 👋🏻

I haven't had a chance to read many of the recent posts yet, but I will in a moment in case there's anything helpful I can say.

It seems I'm TMI central this week Blush so if anyone doesn't like reading or discussing 'womanly' things then please ignore my post, I won't be offended Grin

Aaaanyway... I've had a bit of a NSV today. Quite the opposite of a scale victory actually as my weight today was up by three whole pounds. I was so disheartened and started to try to figure out where I went wrong yesterday (I haven't yet started 'bootcamp light' as I'm enjoying the food I'm having now)

It dawned on me that my period might be due. And that sounds like a small thing but I honestly haven't been able to predict my periods since giving birth to my babies! Dates have been all over the place, I've had consecutive weeks without a break, I've had every symptom under the sun so I never knew when I was coming on any more.

So yes... my SV is that, somehow, this diet has regulated my body. I don't know if that's 'a thing'? For the record, I did start on this evening so I was correct. I'm excited to see how my weight changes after it finishes and in the meantime I know not to give up on this WOE. I might need to take advantage of that dark chocolate though Blush. I also know my headache will go away and it's not just some random diet side effect. For once, I've never been so happy to have a period!

LostaraYil · 16/06/2020 21:47

To add to the over sharing, NumbsMet, I had my period as expected and it only lasted about 4 days! Since I had a contraceptive implant put in last year it has been very unpredictable and usually gone on for around 2 weeks at a time. I'm curious to see what will happen if I manage to keep this WOE going, but a definite improvement so far!

Freetodowhatiwant · 16/06/2020 22:01

@NumbsMet I don’t see that as over sharing at all! I thought there was going to be gruesome detail 😂

NumbsMet · 16/06/2020 22:47

@Freetodowhatiwant oh phew 😅 I'm never sure what passes for TMI really.

@LostaraYil that's brilliant! I have an iPhone so I'll be using the health app from today to track my periods. This way I'll get a warning before my next one and I'll know not to expect too much weight loss around that time. When BIWI is able to come back I'd be very interested to know if this WOE does in fact have the possibility of regulating periods. I've also had a contraceptive implant and have had back to back cycles for well over a year now, it's so draining. So like you I hope that this is a diet perk!!

Mixitupalot · 17/06/2020 05:57

Thanks all for the non carb snacking options, some great ideas. I am allergic to eggs though so I find it difficult to get a quick fix, it’s mostly cheese!

I am 1lb up today so I need to be very careful I feel like I could put it all back on very quickly.

Almahart · 17/06/2020 08:10

Pleased to report that I'm down 1ib already (am a daily weigher). I know that's water but still a good way to start.

Am doing 12:8 - lunch will be a chicken salad and dinner a mushroom and goats cheese omelette

prettybird · 17/06/2020 08:15

Other snacking options: slices of cucumber cumber with pâté on them; slices of cheddar cheese spread with butter and marmite/Bovril; slices of Emmenthal rolled up with pastrami; slices of pastrami or beef rolled up with rocket.

Lots of tasty options. Smile

But before you have them, drink. some. water. Grin

Morning campers!
Caught up on thread! Glad everyone is KOKO and welcome to new starters! Good news about your AF numbsmet!
I have done my first 2 days back in school and today is my day off. Last night I had a mini bottle of sauv blanc after doing the big shop. Ate some peanuts and a square of dark choc. Weighed peanuts to get the portion - 30g of peanuts is about 5 peanuts 😬 massive over estimates have occurred in the past!!! At least I know now!
This morn was 160 again do hoping to jump into the 150s soon.
Have a opticians app today as dog chewed glasses at start of lockdown 😂
B scrambled egg avo mushrooms
L ?
D baked salmon and flgv

Ragwort · 17/06/2020 08:35

Good morning all.

Packed lunches at work seem OK, today cold sausages, hard boiled egg, cold turkey (I would never buy it from the deli as it's quite expensive but DH bought a load and it is delicious!) avocado & cheesies.

Dinner will be homemade burger and salad.

Only drinking water and black coffee at work now, I used to take cream in with me but such a faff that I have educated myself to drink black coffee.

Walking to and from work helps with the exercise although I did 10k steps at work yesterday without going out of the shop!

Sauvignonismysaviour · 17/06/2020 09:18

@BrassicaBabe seriously well done on the 10 days. That's a great achievement.

Randomfatty · 17/06/2020 09:22

Morning - I’ll be staying away from that liquorice then - that sounds lethal! 🙂
Have resisted weighing myself as have AF and feel really bloated and yuck and tired! 😥😥 although not hungry which is good!
Just having my hot water until lunchtime when it’s omelette and salad (again! 😋) and for dinner an aubergine base pizza with turkey, nduja, olives, mozzarella etc and another salad.
May have some berries as well!
Ache from my weights training yesterday but need to shrink my butt - so might have to go for a run today! Just been advised the company I work for is making 40% of roles redundant, so no work for me so need to find a new job! Arrgghh! So will be writing my CV today!
KOKO!

Puppermint · 17/06/2020 09:25

Sorry to hear about your job @Randomfatty, that's truly shit.

Am bloody starving today. Need to make it to midday but my stomach is growling. Been working since 5.30 as it's the only way I can get anything done before homeschooling starts. But am tired and possibly due on too so not a great combo. Just want hot buttery toast, crisps and chocolate - waaaaahhhhhhh!!

NigellaAwesome · 17/06/2020 09:45

@Randomfatty Thanks that's tough.

Randomfatty · 17/06/2020 10:03

thanks @NigellaAwesome and @Puppermint - its difficult but there's so many of us in this situation at the moment - can't get too down about it - just have to keep being positive and start looking for something else!

devoncreamtea · 17/06/2020 10:16

@randomfatty might be worth a chat with your Union? Really tough situation - I hope you find something even better! Flowers

nowlook · 17/06/2020 10:34

Morning! In a foul mood because DH made me an omelette using normal sunflower oil.

Precious, moi? Grin

Anyway, there was a PP last week perhaps who was wondering about how to do lunches at work as she didn't have access to a fridge or microwave. I saw on the life hacks thread (some on there need to be much busier, but that's a whole other story) that someone freezes cooked omelettes that defrost on a plate nicely by lunchtime without going sweaty. Might be an idea.

Sorry about your news @Randomfatty. Have you been there long?

venusandmars · 17/06/2020 10:57

I am in the long queue to get into the garden centre. By the time I get out again it will be 17 hours since my last meal. Not even a creamy coffee.
L - left over cauliflower cheese
D - a sort of kedgeree made with finely shredded fried cabbage instead of rice. Probably preceeded by a starter of fresh langoustines with herb mayonnaise. My morning walk takes me past the fish shop and I can't resist the local langoustines when they have them 🦐🦐🦐

OneFootintheRave · 17/06/2020 11:28

I have just ordered a basic Tanita scales based on the feedback here. I'm curious to see if there has been any weight loss and I can't wait another 6 weeks until I see the GP. My bust is deffo lighter and I think maybe a slight reduction in tummy flab but need to get the hard evidence! Grin - let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a huge disappointment. I'm estimating I will have a 1KG loss and I will be happy with that as I know it will be a longish road.

LostaraYil · 17/06/2020 11:57

So sorry, Randomfatty Flowers.
I decided to do an Insanity workout this morning to mix up my exercise a bit, and it nearly killed me. But then I thought about all the calories it burns (used to be about 450 back in the day when I used a hr monitor!) and hopefully it's all fat because I hadn't eaten yet.
L- omelette with tomato and salami
S-cheesies
D-fathead pizza (I can't wait!)

nowlook · 17/06/2020 12:01

@OneFootintheRave

When I ordered new digital scales last year for bootcamp (after week 1), they confirmed I was six pounds heavier than my analogue set, obliterating my week 1 loss Angry

If that happens to you, don't feel disheartened- it's still a loss from where you were!
