Low Carb Bootcamp Léger! Notre quatre semaine est ici!

BIWI · 15/06/2020 07:33

It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

Hi all, good to hear how you’re all getting on.

I’m mostly enjoying this WOE & am hoping to carry it on into the summer. I started back at work on Monday & was really hoping to still do IF but it was too long and I felt totally drained and had to go straight to bed when I got home. So going to do IF at weekends now instead.

Apart from that, the only thing I’m having trouble with is (TMI alert) constipation (and bloatyness). I drink lots of water but have had to take senna tablets several times. I wish I liked liquorice! Grin I’ve got some pysilium husk powder arriving today so hoping that helps!

Takingontheworld · 17/06/2020 12:22

I can feel myself caving. Its gonna be the 1st curse again isn't it 😭

Ninkanink · 17/06/2020 12:32

No. You just don’t give yourself permission to cave.

It’s a choice you make, every time you cave.

This time you’re not going to make that choice.

Hopeislost · 17/06/2020 12:39

Sorry to hear that @Randomfatty Thanks

@venusandmars you're making me jealous again with your seafood!

@LostaraYil Ooh let us know how the pizza goes? I'm really tempted to try it!

@Takingontheworld You've got this. Have a cup of tea, drink some water, or take a walk.

BrassicaBabe · 17/06/2020 13:08

@Randomfatty sorry about your job. It's shitty. I was made redundant in 2018. I know how it feels. Give yourself a little space to grieve and be kind to yourself.

Ninkanink · 17/06/2020 13:10

Sorry about the job, @Randomfatty. That’s shit. Onwards and upwards (unless we’re talking about the scales, of course!)

Flowers to everyone on the thread!

@Takingontheworld and anyone who is struggling with cravings. If I’m really craving something sweet or carby, I often mindfully choose to have a teaspoon of peanut butter. I eat it slowly off the spoon, and really focus on enjoying the richness of it. It works very well for me and I find it much better than eating actual nuts because there’s a natural limit and it cuts out the temptation to eat many more than one should.

It also really satisfies that particular need for sweetness (for me). I sometimes have a teaspoon after a meal when I’m aware that I’m in that kind of mood.

Eggbound · 17/06/2020 13:50

Sorry about your job @Randomfatty. That's tough. Flowers

@NumbsMet, I stumbled on this when moseying around YouTube for keto videos for DP (he's not a read-all-about-it type). Not sure if she's generally respected in the keto field, but it might shed some light?

I'm on day 3 and nearly 3lb down. Could be mostly water, but ... yay! And I had hollandaise sauce with my eggs and salmon earlier - bloody brilliant.

Pee sticks are confirming I'm in ketosis. I'm hoping the dreaded carb/keto flu doesn't hit; fingers crossed it's not too bad.

prettybird · 17/06/2020 14:08

Sometimes when I'm craving "sweetness", I have some Greek yoghurt with cinnamon or a spoonful of clotted cream Smile unfortunately I've run out of both at the moment Sad

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/06/2020 14:49

Sorry to hear about your job Random. Lots of people are in the same boat but it's OK to feel how you feel as well. Flowers

OK @Takingontheworld that's your 'head game'. It's not your body letting you down it's your head. And you're in charge of your head. I actually find a (slightly insane) conversation works. "I see what you're doing there brain, you bastard. I don't need pasta, it makes me feel bloated and shit. Screw you." I do understand a psychiatrist might not approve but it works for me.

Takingontheworld · 17/06/2020 15:09

I made chocolate cake using almond flour and surkin (?!) To eat with mascarpone. Not worth the effort... and it seems my craving is actually for DH fresh bread on the side as sweet did nothing for me.

Ever since i started this i feel like every 2 weeks im highly emotional/ragey and my muscles are constantly tired. Thats not normal is it?

Still...i haven't eaten carbs. (Well.. the banned kind!)

Sauvignonismysaviour · 17/06/2020 15:12

Lunch - coleslaw, brie, spinach, cucumber & spring onions
Dinner will be duck leg with broccoli and kale

Feeling a bit fed up today! Weight loss seems to be stalling but I know I need to KOKO.

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/06/2020 15:20

DH does refer to 'keto rage'. He's wrong of course.

Ninkanink · 17/06/2020 15:26

@Takingontheworld - you’re learning to listen to your body. You know now that when you’re craving something savoury/bready there’s no point in eating something sweet (or vice versa) even if that thing is technically allowed. When you want something bready you can make something healthy and low carb that hits that spot. When you want something crunchy you can make crackers or have some pork scratchings or bake some grated Parmesan. When you want something sweet a little bit of dark chocolate with a teaspoon of peanut butter spread on top/berries and cream/yoghurt with cinnamon or vanilla/etc will likely hit that spot.

You are also learning that for you, there is a link between how you’re feeling and wanting to eat. You can employ strategies to either, a) have something to eat that is good for your health and overall well-being, or b) employ strategies to break that link and weaken that automatic relationship and reaction.

Takingontheworld · 17/06/2020 15:28

Thank you for your level headed response ninkanink. Obviously I'm too deep in keto rage right now (mrsterrypratchett, 😂 totally) to fully appreciate it but I will in a few hours.

I fucking hate feeling tired and ragey

Rshard · 17/06/2020 15:32

Crap news about your job randomfatty, hope something comes along soon.

BrassicaBabe · 17/06/2020 15:46

L: tuna mayo and HM coleslaw (cider vinegar/oil dressing)
D: roast chicken and buttered leeks

I don't know whether it's motivating or demotivating but my rate of loss in 2020 has been 0.25lb per weekShockShock

prettybird · 17/06/2020 16:05

my rate of loss in 2020 has been 0.25lb per week

That's still nearly a stone in a year Wink

Freetodowhatiwant · 17/06/2020 16:48

Another one here feeling a bit despondent about no real weight loss this week despite being quite good with food. I think I need a reminder about weeks 3 and 4 and their stalling of weight loss! I really miss going to the gym now too, I just don’t rack up as much movement as I normally do now I can’t go to the gym and am more house Bound with the kids at home. I do take them out of course but they’re only little and don’t want to do 10km a day every day like I need!

Almahart · 17/06/2020 17:21

Failure to plan has meant I have had lots of oily salad and Chicken thighs which are a v lazy way of cooking and make me sick of this woe. I need to do some proper cooking to get back into it.

Sorry about your job @Randomfatty. I think I will be in similar situation soon. It sucks Thanks

Takingontheworld · 17/06/2020 18:16

@randomfatty. That is crap, i hope you're okay.

I've had beef with roasted onion cabbage and garlic. Really need to up my water.

Burnshersmurfs · 17/06/2020 18:56

Takingon- I sometimes pop back to have a look at this: whole30.com/revised-timeline/
on the days when I am re-mounting the LC wagon and feeling rough. Obviously, Whole 30 isn't quite the same, but some of this timeline rings really true for me.

Puppermint · 17/06/2020 19:53

Really like that timeline @Burnshersmurfs, lots of it sound familiar.

I'm having a glass of wine tonight after a long and shitty day. Just the one though.

Today:
L: big salad with tom and mozzarella, prosciutto, bresaola and avocado in a pesto and olive oil dressing
D: Bol, courgetti in butter, grated cheese

In another TMI report I had a very satisfying toilet trip this afternoon so am quietly confident I'll have lost at least half a stone by the morning! Blush Grin

kakiqueen · 17/06/2020 19:57

Hello there,
Please can ask those who are doing IF whether you have milk in tea/coffee in the morning?

I am asking because I have lost absolutely nothing since I started. I am very close to giving up and going low calorie instead.
I just can't go in like this, always hungry and not losing anything at all.
