Low Carb Bootcamp Léger! Notre quatre semaine est ici!

BIWI · 15/06/2020 07:33

It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

Pesky half pound gone again ( I admit that might be getting a little scales obessed ! 😂)
Made a courgette and feta frittata for dinner yesterday .. so some of that will be breakfast later ( still 16:8)
Lamb chops for dinner maybe Greek style or maybe tandoori
Dh said that I was looking a lot thinner already ( at only 8lbs down) .I still have a good way to go, but my stomach has definitely shrunk and I don't have so much of the fat feeling around my neck when lying down ( thats a big boob problem which those who have them will recognise I am sure !)
Today

MrsKoala · 19/06/2020 09:35

I know!! I think not doing any exercise is the key for me. I know it sounds mad but I am so athleticly built the moment I do any exercise I just bulk up. The slimmest I’ve ever been was after knee surgery and 3 months of being immobile. But I enjoy exercise and I do look better a bit more toned (particularly around my arse, which has taken this lockdown the hardest). So once I can get to the gym I will be reintroducing it and then I shall just ignore the scales and focus on measurements/looks. Although my calves get ridiculous. I wish I could exercise and leave them at home. My Pilates instructor said to me with a gasp once ‘what do you do to get such over developed calf muscles?’ Nothing! Sob.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2020 09:46

Regarding rum, just be sure it’s the real stuff, not Malibu or something similar. Same with gin. The plain is fine but avoid the pinks.

If they taste sweeter, there’s a reason.

venusandmars · 19/06/2020 09:53

It's my friend's 60th birthday today so I've got one of those mini bottes of fizz, so I can toast her health without having any further temptation.

L - avocado, ham, cheese, salad with one glass of fizz
D - shakshuka with cabbage

AthelstaneTheUnready · 19/06/2020 10:33

Thanks for all the wishes Grin

Way to go, MrsK Flowers

My 3 birthday glasses of wine at lunch resulted in a 3 hour -coma- unplanned nap on the sofa, and a distinctly bleurgh dead rat feeling today. Some treat. Hmm I also had some birthday baguette and brie, so am not weighing myself until Monday now.

It was a conscious decision, but I do accept that I have buttered my baguette and now I have to lie on it.

Freetodowhatiwant · 19/06/2020 10:41

@Athelstane happy birthday for yesterday! How funny that the alcohol affected you like that. When I had a drink last Saturday too I felt similar afterwards. Quite disappointing as I do like a drink and would like to continue to enjoy wine in the future rather than become a lightweight.

@MrsKoala your arse has taken the lockdown the hardest 😂

@ShagMeRiggins damn that’s bad news about the pink gin

Well I’ve lost one and a half kilos today simply by going to my parents place and weighing myself on their scales! Sadly not on my own scales though but they have been 63kg something for a couple of days this week rather than 64 something. Apparently the magic number is 63.4 as that would take me to 9 stone something.

prettybird · 19/06/2020 10:46

prefers to interpret "infused" with raspberries and blackberries as just like raspberry infused water Wink

Freetodowhatiwant · 19/06/2020 10:55

I know @prettybird! I’ve only just got used to gin and this is thanks to the pink stuff. With someone equally as hideous in terms of sugar like elderflower tonic.

I’m not planning on any drinks soon but I’m thinking... plain gin with a handful of fresh berries and some diet tonic...? Damn, definitely not the same.

Ninkanink · 19/06/2020 11:05

Alcohol lowers your blood glucose, which is why you want to eat when you’re drunk. When you’re low carbing your blood sugar level is kept quite low by default, so you will get drunk much quicker.

bibliomania · 19/06/2020 11:07

For gin, I like to fill the glass with frozen berries then add the g&t. Lovely berry flavour & you don't need ice cubes. Then they defrost & you can eat them too.

BrassicaBabe · 19/06/2020 11:08

10.02! Come on 9!!

Today is day 13 no alcohol. Definitely haven't done this long since I was pregnant 9 years ago. And even then probably only in the first trimester. Last night was the first night in an age I slept through!

Freetodowhatiwant · 19/06/2020 11:24

Ha you and I are both waiting to cross that under 10 stone barrier @BrassicaBabe. I did one day this week but then it’s been hovering just above. So annoying. Although if you believe my parents scales I’m already only 9 stone 9. Sadly I think mine are more accurate.

devoncreamtea · 19/06/2020 11:32

BrassicaBabe really well done on alcohol front! Flowers and On the nearly 9 front! Wonder what you’d be on free’s mums scales?!?!

Randomfatty · 19/06/2020 12:14

Morning all - TMI alert but have had the night from hell - think I managed to pick some food poisoning from a healthy takeaway last night and spend most of last night on the loo! The cramps and the nausea were incredible! ☹️😫😩 If that’s not encouraged my body to drop some weight I don’t know what will! And I didn’t eat any liquorice! 😱 had chicken curry and some spinach and cabbage from our local takeaway- never had any issues with them before - maybe my body is revolting at too much veg!
Hopefully this means I’ve lost some weight come Monday! As the scales have been stuck all week! Hope everyone is KoKo!
Lunch will be some scrambled eggs with a side salad and some cheese / Parma ham
Dinner - leftover aubergine pizza and some kale salad.

Still feel a bit weak so may miss the planned run today! 😟

Puppermint · 19/06/2020 12:21

Well done Brassica 13 days is fab! And nearly half way through your 30 day challenge Flowers

Today is a'what's in the bottom of the fridge' kinda day, chez Puppermint. Need to shop but no time for that til the weekend.

L: Tuna and left over feta, with all manner of salad veg that's slightly on the turn, lemon and olive oil dressing
D: Some pork steaks which say they were frozen in February just not sure WHICH February leeks in cream and possibly cheese sauce, some floppy mange tout and asparagus in butter.

I have got a bottle of wine in the fridge too, which might or might not get opened later.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2020 13:04

You can put your fingers where you like, I won’t stop you, but:

100ml Tesco’s Grape & Elderflower spritz has 11.3g of sugar

100ml “full fat” Coke has 10.6g sugar

100ml Gordon’s Pink Gin has 7.2g of sugar

100ml clear, plain gin has 0g of sugar

Again, with any clear spirit that is flavoured, it will probably not be clear at all.

I bought some beef jerky a few weeks ago and it was lush, best beef jerky I’ve had in a long while. Well of course it was—turns out it had a whopping 23g of carbs in the pack.

Read labels, look online, don’t get caught out.

Or keep your fingers in your ears. Grin

NigellaAwesome · 19/06/2020 13:12

Afternoon everyone, it's quiet today on the thread (or my WiFi is down).

My news is that I am less than 1/2 pound away from losing a stone, into the 13 somethings, and I have gone down 2 holes on my belt.

@BIWI you really have been brilliant, and I really enjoy the chat and support on here. I can't believe we are almost starting week five!

BIWI · 19/06/2020 13:17

Thank you @NigellaAwesome Blush

But it's all you lot who are doing the hard work, and who are being brilliant! Flowers

Looking at my bottle of Wink the Lidl "raspberry & blackberry" infused gin, it differs from Gordon's in that it is 40% ABV (it also doesn't mention sugar or any other ingredients on the label) Grin

Having said that, I haven't had any since before Boot Camp and given we'll be opening 3 bottles of Chenin tomorrow night to do a Facebook Live tasting for our wee wine company (did you know that tomorrow was #InternationalDrinkCheninDay? Grin), I'm saving my "moderate" alcohol for tomorrow night Wink I'm even going to forego my customary Friday night Cava Shock

prettybird · 19/06/2020 13:27

...btw I agree about always checking labels. I'd eagerly seen biltong for sale in Lidl - but checked the label and it's really high in sugar ConfusedSad

devoncreamtea · 19/06/2020 13:40

Yay! on nearly crossing a stone barrier Nigella 😀

@Randomfatty maybe keep an eye on yourself because I had Covid a few months ago (early adopter!!!) and it started with the runs - I thought I had food poisoning. Then felt better, then felt flu ish and weak - then temp kicked in for about 10 days, then felt better than got cough and breathlessness. Then was totally gone.
Prob not that of course but being as it’s around worth keeping an eye on.

devoncreamtea · 19/06/2020 13:41

Gin makes me morose and depressed - even the pink stuff!

Freetodowhatiwant · 19/06/2020 14:02

Ok @ShagMeRiggins you’ve convinced me about the plain gin being so much better carb wise than pink gin. I will be sure to jazz it up with some berries.

Anyone want to come round to my parents to use their scales just about...

Well done on the almost stone Nigella, that’s amazing

Ninkanink · 19/06/2020 14:09

I’m biased because I can’t stand sweet gins, but I love a champagne, Prosecco or other bubbly wine with a tiny bit of chambord and a fresh raspberry or two. You can very the degree of sweetness easily - I like just the merest hint. Much better option in terms of carbs, too. I’ve not tried it with gin yet but come to think of it, I have some gin and I have some chambord...

I’m still losing though, and I’m coming up to the dreaded week 3 weigh-in on Monday, so I’m not sure I want to have any alcohol just yet!

Freetodowhatiwant · 19/06/2020 14:20

I would love a champagne right now too. Well a cava.
