Low Carb Bootcamp Ordinaire - Week 3

BIWI · 08/06/2020 07:15

Morning all!

The start of a brand new week. Hopefully it will be a better week - emotionally/psychologically - for us all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your progress.

Hopefully we've all had a good couple of weeks, food and weight wise.

Be warned that we're now in week 3. Many, many, many low carbers (not just Bootcampers) find that the weight loss can slow or stop in this week (and also week 4)

If this happens to you DON'T PANIC! If you've been losing so far, then you know it works. Just KOKO (keep on keeping on) and things will get going again soon.

Good luck to us all [ flowers]

devon I’m glad you took a nice bath. I used to read that kind of thing in magazines and think it was all bullshit—“treat yourself to a hot bath or soaking your feet”, cue eye roll—but I see it’s true. Doesn’t have to be a bath. It can be anything that makes you take time out and just do your own thing.

It’s liberating.

ShagMeRiggins · 08/06/2020 09:15

Jesus. Typos. At the very least piling it on, not ^liking* it on. Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 08/06/2020 09:16

Couldn’t even get that italics right. Giving up. Going to do some work now. Hmm

ShagMeRiggins · 08/06/2020 09:17

But not before I express an official and delighted giggle at mental image of BIWI in a cheerleader pose. Grin

I’d have you in my squad any time.

MrsKoala · 08/06/2020 09:21

Jofish - I often want the taste of something sweet after a meal on bc (strangely I only have a sweet tooth on bc. When I eat carbs I rarely want a pudding. I think it’s because the food is to savoury and salty I need to have different taste to complete the meal). I have found the Pukka peppermint and liquorice tea is very sweet (also the vanilla chai latte is sweet but also has some spice to it) and a cup of that satisfies my craving.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/06/2020 09:28

Agree with MrsK - a hot herbal/fruit tea doesn't work mentally if you think of it as a pudding replacement.

But if you think of it as a different - non salty, non savoury - way to end a meal it suddenly seems a much better idea!

@Ifeelfat, technically yes we could add height to the spreadsheet. I'm not sure it would be very popular though, as it takes a lot of people courage enough to post weight, without having it cross-referenced to height. If I'm charged by an angry mob of bootcampers waving pitchforks demanding a height column though, I'll add it.

Takingontheworld · 08/06/2020 09:29

Oooooo blustery, that sounds yum!!!

Ive finished the mascarpone off yesterday which i think was for the best as I bloody love it. Closest to cheesecake I can get right now 😂

Am hopeful for this week. Lets go!

Lostara, I'm interested in weight lifting but should I wait till I'm not super heavy? Also my wrists are most affected by the arthtris so worry abit about that.. but I'm so weak. I'd like to be stronger.

Laska2Meryls · 08/06/2020 09:36

I dont want height in , and because I know some people here I dont actually want to put my actual weight so pleased that we have the option to put 100 in the start column

There was a great website someone linked to a while ago which had photos showung the difference in how real people look at different weights .. that I found was the most illuminating and comforting thing .. especially for people like me a bit obsessed with the 'number' .. it was amazing how different people looked at even the same weight and height .
I wonder if I can find it again ?

Jofish26 · 08/06/2020 09:37

@BlusteryShowers thanks for the suggestion I have some sugar free jelly in the cupboard so can make it today!
@MrsKoala,thank you for the tea suggestion will give the vanilla chai a go,not keen on liquorice though
@AthelstaneTheUnready you are right, it is about shifting your mindset. Thank you :)

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 08/06/2020 09:40

Marking my place, will weigh as soon as I manage to get out of bed! Grin

MrsKoala · 08/06/2020 09:41

It doesn’t taste of liquorice at all jofish (we’ll not to me and I dislike it too). It just tastes really sweet and mildly minty. It’s reduced in my Sainsburys at the moment too so I stocked up.

Linnet · 08/06/2020 09:43

I have lost 1lb. I stayed the same all week until I weighed myself on Sunday and I’d lost 1lb. I know I should be glad that I haven’t gained back the 3lb I’ve already lost but one measly pound is a bit disheartening.

I’ve been so good, I’ve had no alcohol, no carbs I didn’t even eat any of my 89 year old granny’s birthday cake! I’m also drinking water like it’s going out of fashion so I don’t get it.

I’ll keep going though and hope more comes off this week. Consoling myself that all together I’ve lost 4 lbs and that’s almost half a stone.

felippertyfeck · 08/06/2020 09:44

Morning all some great results coming in! A good week for me 3lbs down. Felt very lackluster by the end of last week could have slept for England. Today thank goodness I have woken up with a spring in my step and the scale gods were shining favorably on me.

I've increased the amount I'm eating and brought back the eggs and this seems to have worked - thank you @BIWI.

@Notlostjustexploring 15 eggs!! This is great news, that gives me lots of room to maneuver.

Good luck all for week three. Fingers crossed the scales keep moving downwards :)

Ninkanink · 08/06/2020 09:46

Hey everyone!

💐💐💐 to all, we’re a group of strong individuals.

I’ve done my first weigh-in, since this is my first week. 1.7 kg gone which I’m very happy with.

prettybird · 08/06/2020 09:47

Linnet - as you say, it's still 4lb Smile

Have you also been taking measurements, as they're the other thing that can motivate?

Linnet · 08/06/2020 09:53

I haven’t taken measurements, maybe I should. Do people just measure waist and hips?

Ninkanink · 08/06/2020 09:58

I don’t measure (I’m too lazy) but I stand in profile in front of the mirror every few days and check how my stomach is receding and track my arms slowly getting closer to how I like them to look. That always makes me happy.

NSVs (non-scale victories) are a very important part of keeping going on this lifestyle.

Mixitupalot · 08/06/2020 10:02

Morning all, weighing in at 2lb down. I feel so tired this week, it’s hit me hard. I could barely manage a short walk yesterday.

For those of you interested in height I am 5’8 and now 161 lbs. i want to reach around 155lbs as that’s my happy weight were I don’t have huge bingo wings and wrinkly knees.

Ninkanink · 08/06/2020 10:03

Here’s a list of the things that always markedly improve for me when I’m being careful to avoid typical ‘carbs’

Better sleep
No thrush!
Clear skin
No period pains at all
My moods are more stable

felippertyfeck · 08/06/2020 10:11

@Mixitupalot I felt like this too - until this morning. On Friday I had to make myself get out of bed because if I didn't I would sleep forever! It was like wading through mud to do the most mundane tasks. This morning though my energy seems to be coming back, fingers crossed this passes for you too Flowers

Witsend101 · 08/06/2020 10:11

1lb off here. So I'm a bit disappointed but on the up side 4lb over 2 weeks. Perimenipausal here and finding losing weight so hard now, but either way this weight has got to go so will KOKO

NumbsMet · 08/06/2020 10:11

Good morning 👋🏻

Just checking in to the new thread. I'm about to go and add my weight to the spreadsheet, a further 2lbs down, so today I feel ready to take on the world!

Puppermint · 08/06/2020 10:14

I'm a short arse at 5ft 3 so really feeling it at my current weight. I usually sit at around 11stone, so still overweight, but various stresses then lockdown has seen me gain nearly two stone. My happy place would be 9st 4, so that's my target at the moment. Only three stone to go...

bluelefant · 08/06/2020 10:29

Thank you for a new thread @BIWI

A bit disappointed this week with less than half a pound loss(can I even call it a loss?)
I stuck to it completely and drunk all the water.I also do a 5K fast pace walk every morning which I haven't done before so really was expecting a bigger loss.Hopefully I can blame it on TOTM which arrived on Thursday and see a bit more movement on the scales next week.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 08/06/2020 10:32

Weighed in, down another 1.6lbs :)

That's 12.3lbs down in total since I started my egg fast 👍
