Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Seriously - if you haven't had a look, explore all the different resources on the tabs

Crickey I had forgotten how quickly these threads run, I can never keep up! Thank you @BIWI for all your amazing research @AthelstaneTheUnready for the spreadsheet. I'm feeling good that I've got myself off the carb train... again! Must admit it was touch and go keeping up the water and not having an accident, I'm still not drinking enough, and staying off the carbs whilst all around are munching away! But today I feel good and I think that I can get back on with this way of eating. I don't know why I fall foul of the carbs when I know that I feel so much better when I don't eat them. I could kick myself!! Anyway I think I'm going to try to keep with the intermittent fast as I've just got used to it and my body needs some serious healing, I'll see how it goes. Most days have been the same, eggs and mushrooms, eggs tabasco and butter 3 - 5 until dinner which has been chicken thigh spinach and garlic or burger and homemade coleslaw, few bits of cheese along the way and some olives. Need to build in some variation now so smoked salmon and avocado lunch which I'm looking forward to! 6lbs down. Well done all, there are some amazing losers out there! :)

CalendulaAndRoses · 01/06/2020 11:56
@CalendulaAndRoses

I weighed this am and am 3lbs down, which I am delighted about as I didn't calorie or carb count

But you are going to keep an eye on your carbs this week, aren't you?
oh yes, absolutely @BIWI . No counting but eating from the green list along with plenty of meat, fish, eggs, oils and butter. I think that's pretty much the correct approach anyway. Along with lots of water and herbal tea

PseudoBadger · 01/06/2020 11:56

Amazing losses! I have lost 5lb which I am very happy with.

BIWI · 01/06/2020 11:59

@csa26

Had my first IVF scan today and it’s all going well but as expected the nurse was super not keen on me being in ketogenesis during IVF and wants carbs back in my diet straight away

Glad it's all going well!

I'm a bit concerned about the rest of this statement though - presumably you are eating carbs?

However, I also notice that you only weigh just over 9 stones (now!), so probably much less requirement for you to be super strict anyway.

Why don't you move on to Bootcamp Light? This will mean that you can add in some fruit and also some nuts/seeds.

We definitely want you to be successful!

Freetodowhatiwant · 01/06/2020 12:10

Great news on the scan @csa26. I haven't had IVF but I had lots of miscarriages so can relate to how these things mess with your head. I remember worrying that going to a festival the live music reverbing through my body would somehow affect the tiny foetus in my womb (that pregnancy actually turned out to be my first live baby after 5 mcs so maybe it was good for it...). But yes these things can make you worry. With miscarriage, like with IVF I think, there's a part of you that blames yourself but really I cannot see how this WOE would affect things at all. But like @biwi said maybe bootcamp light would be a good thing.

Okay so this is my first day of eating without counting calories. I am still doing 16;8 as I have found that works well for me before, I have had a lot of success on low carb before but I have never really done LCHF. Ie the high fat part.

I've just broken my fast with one egg friend in butter, a large tomato fried in butter and a huge dollop of soured cream. Does this sound ok...? The unlimited butter thing is funny for me I think!

TheSnootiestFox · 01/06/2020 12:17

@BIWI sadly I've got stage 3 lipoedema so I don't work like the rest of the world Hmm if I want to lose weight there's very little proper food involved! What I mean is I can't just count carbs and not calories or I actually gain. Before it was eggs, meat, fish, salad, low carb veg and cream. Sadly whether it's healthy or not makes no odds as I'm stuck with this stupid disease that makes weight loss nigh on impossible!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/06/2020 12:23

an egg friend Grin

Oh, that so sums up BC Grin

Freetodowhatiwant · 01/06/2020 12:26

@athelstane haha next time I will have to name it Grin

csa26 · 01/06/2020 12:27

@Freetodowhatiwant I’m so sorry to hear that 😢 I’ve only had a couple of failed embryo transfers and feel like I’ve gone through nothing compared to what people with miscarriages go through.

I think the real mind-bending thing with IVF is you have to drive it so hard to get it to happen (have switched clinics twice in the last 12 months and been researching all kinds of things like going abroad etc) and then suddenly reach a point where it’s pretty much out of your control.

@BIWI yes don’t worry I have been eating veg 😊 I don’t know how to manage upping the carbs again without going wild - I’m not very good at moderation 😁 - but Bootcamp Light seems like a good place to start.

Rshard · 01/06/2020 12:27

50lbs glittercandle 🤩! That’s brilliant!

Glad the scan went well csa

notacooldad · 01/06/2020 12:32

Hmm! I even hardly lost anything!
My calories came in at just under 1000 everyday and I didn't have anything ogg the forbidden list. I felt a bit demotivated their morning but have shaken myself down and will continue!

notacooldad · 01/06/2020 12:44

Ha! a Random word appeared in my post!

I had some very bad headaches last week. I drank water throughout the day. At one point I had to go to bed in the middle of the afternoon and sleep for two hours. I never normally get them.

I have measured my required water intake for the day each day so I'm pretty certain that wasn't the cause.

PastramiNoRye · 01/06/2020 13:06

I'm trying the tuna burgers from the recipe thread and they're delicious! They're very wet when you put them in the frying pan but they crisp up really well. I'm out of salad til tomorrow so having some stir fried cabbage with them instead.

Tenementfunster · 01/06/2020 13:11

Lost 2. However things are looser and I did have a lot of clotted cream this weekend.

ExShield · 01/06/2020 13:15

I lost 1/4 of a pound. That’s basically a big poo. Sad

BIWI · 01/06/2020 13:21

Sorry to hear that @TheSnootiestFox Flowers

I only 'lost' 1/2 pound. My weight varies that much in a couple of hours!

1stMrsF · 01/06/2020 13:31

Checking in. Well done everyone, whatever the result, making positive changes to your diet is a big achievement.

I recorded 4.4lbs lost, which I am very happy with as I only started on Thursday (with Bootcamp Ordinare so you can see it does work without the counting!) a stone to go to my lightest weight last summer.

I'm back at work today (in school) and brought my own lunch as the Covid/no-contact lunch is VERY carb-heavy. Despite letting the kitchen know, someone has just delivered 2 sausage rolls, a chocolate cookie and some crisps to my office. Luckily I'd eaten already so I'm not hungry! I daresay the DTDs (another twin mum here) will devour it on the way home while they tell me about their first day back at school. I'm sad that there are social distancing measures in place for their last half-term of primary, but thrilled that they aren't still stuck at home where their mental health was deteriorating. Hopefully, it will also mean that I can worry less about them and focus a little more on myself in the next few weeks.

B - creamy coffee
L - leftover barbecued chicken and salad including roasted med veg, stir-fried kale and asparagus and some halloumi with an oily dressing.
D - LC Bibimbap (I posted on the meat recipe thread last year)

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 13:41
@ilovecherries thanks for your post it really helped! I am brand new to this woe and have a massive amount to lose so was hoping for a big loss in the first week but only managed 2lbs off. But,everytime I have tried to diet in the last four years I have ended up gaining weight in the first couple of weeks,I have no idea why although it could be my age(51) and hormones. It has been very demotivating. I have never drunk so much water and I don't think I managed my target of 4.5 litres but probably did 3 - 3.5.Sometimes I have been hungry and sometimes not. Loving all your tips, recipes, photos and support.
You will get there, Jofish. The time will pass whether you lose weight or not, so you might as well stick with it and let it come off a pound at a time. BTW, I was 59 (and have no thyroid) when I lost my weight.

TheSnootiestFox · 01/06/2020 13:42

Thanks @BIWI Wink I'll just carry on pretending I'm not hungry Grin boot camp has given me the kick up the bum I needed anyway so I'm grateful for that x

Carb flu. Did you not read my posts in last week's thread about it?

prettybird · 01/06/2020 14:03

I've now weighed myself (after a 3.77km run and seem to be getting slower Sad and Jillian Michaels DVD) and have lost 6lb ShockSmile - down to 11st 13lb Smile

I'll admit to having just hopped on the scales at the start and taking the 1st weight I saw rather than weighing like today after doing all my exercises Wink - so comparing like for like, it's probably about a 5lb loss. But I'm still pretty chuffed. Grin

If I can average 1lb/week loss over the next 4 weeks (and I recognise it's not linear), I'll be delighted, as I'd be back into the "3 digit" weights - and only need to go back to 4 digits once more (when I go through the top end of 10st something). Smile

Don't worry. Hopefully being on Bootcamp 'proper' will help you!

Do you have your meals planned for the week?

And have you got your water to hand?

Always a positive thing when the scales start with a smaller number!

Checking in with 3.5lb loss, which I'm very happy with. Like others, it was a bigger loss a couple of days ago but I am using this as a lesson to stay calm and carry on. I might understand very clearly that our weight varies for a multitude of reasons but that has not, in the past, stopped me reacting emotionally to a perceived gain and finding myself face down in whatever carbs I can find.

I'm in awe at how lovely and supportive this thread is, thank you to everyone for that and extra thanks to @ BIWI and @AthelstaneTheUnready for all their hard work.
