Well done everyone, so great to read all your losses. Onwards we go for another week!

devoncreamtea · 01/06/2020 09:10

Ah great stuff flippin ! My kids just made me breakfast in bed!!! It was really nice - scrambled eggs, avocado and 2 bits of streaky bacon and a cuppa. 🙂

SophieRay · 01/06/2020 09:12

Posted on the wrong thread 🙈:

8lb loss for me this week, which I'm really pleased with. Took progress pics and cannot see where those 8lb have come off! However, when measuring 4cm off my stomach - 4cm is clearly too small to be noticeable in a picture I guess. Still feeling really tired despite having 8 hours sleep, electrolytes arriving today and will have oxo drink this morning. Was doing really well with the exercise but didn't go for my 5k walk last night and not been this morning - will see how I feel after work, worried not exercising will affect weight loss for this week though and I was getting into a good habit with it. Not continuing with IF as I am hungry in a morning, so if I don't have to be I'll be more likely to stick to it. Going to boil some eggs to mash with butter as that feels comforting somehow.

Well done everyone on the great losses. Will post on spreadsheet later when I'm at desktop as won't work on my phone.

SparklesAllOver · 01/06/2020 09:15

Thank you, BIWI! So inspired by everyones progress, really helps reading the threads and knowing you are not alone. I have lost 5lbs this week, amazing and absolutely worth the effort. I haven't been exercising as much due to feeling ropey and tired, usually just a long dog walk, but have tried to keep busy and active. I am hooked! Well done to everyone.

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 01/06/2020 09:16

@Mummyoflittledragon I'm down exactly 4.4lbs too, and also can't really exercise Grin

BIWI · 01/06/2020 09:17

@Virago1

I can eat and eat without ever really getting full

I can promise you that once you're fat-adapted (which will be very soon) you really will find that you're feeling full - and you certainly won't be hungry between meal.

Now we're not counting calories you can make sure that you're keeping plenty of fat in your diet, which will also help to curb the appetite.

@SophieRay

worried not exercising will affect weight loss for this week though and I was getting into a good habit with it.

You don't need to exercise to lose weight. It's good thing to do for your general health, and I wanted everyone to keep exercise in their plan last week as part of the whole 'refocusing' effort, but if you follow Bootcamp rules you will lose weight.

It's actually a bit of a myth that you have to exercise to lose weight. Commonly said on the internet is that weight loss is 80% diet and only 20% exercise. Dr Jason Fung though, who wrote The Obesity Code, argues that it's 95% diet and 5% exercise!

When I was running regularly, I used Map My Run to record my performance, and I was shocked to realise that running 5K, so a 30 minute run, burns just over 300 calories. So you'd have to do a lot of running (or other exercise) to seriously make a difference to your weight.

There's also the homeostasis factor that comes into play - you've burnt more calories so your body tells you that you need more. You're hungry, in other words.

Then add in the psychological element 'I've been good, so I deserve some ...' - and you can see that things fight against weight loss if you're purely doing exercise!

@Mummyoflittledragon

Just weighed myself. I’m 4.4 lbs down. As I can’t exercise much, this is pretty much where I expected to be. I know it’s modest for some. But I am happy with my achievement.
Don't worry about not being able to exercise - see my previous post!

Really well done - 4.4lbs is not a modest achievement, it's a bloody good one! Flowers

BIWI · 01/06/2020 09:24

Right. And after posting about not needing to exercise, I'm off for my run now! Grin

Start of week 4 of the C25K for me.

I’m 3.6 lbs off, so that 7lbs of my lockdown 12 gone, so that’s a relief. What I have realised having been in maintenance for 3 years after a very substantial loss, is that I need to always keep my eye in the ball and weigh regularly, so I can adjust as necessary. The lockdown 12 was down to 10 weeks of never weighing myself, feeling low and worried and being lax about what I was eating - initially as it was hard to get stuff so it was a case of eat what was available, then because I got into a ‘I’ve got worse things to worry about than a slice of sourdough or a cappuccino’ mindset. 12 lbs is a manageable amount to tackle and sort out fairly quickly and easily, but I can see how it wouldn’t have taken much for it to slide into a much more serious regain.

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 09:30

Well done everyone on great losses, btw! And if anyone is feeling disappointed by what they lost, after sticking to the rules, take heart that when I started bootcamp I only lost 1lb a week for the first few weeks, but 21 lbs overall in a 10 week bootcamp, and in total 80lbs by the end of the year. It works - IF you do it.

Razzlefrazzle · 01/06/2020 09:37

@ilovecherries that's so encouraging to hear. I'm overthinking this at the moment - struggling to get out of the WW point counting 'diet' mentality. Your results are inspiring Smile

@BIWI thanks fir the reassurance, no more MFP for me!

Sadsammy · 01/06/2020 09:37

Can I add myself?

devoncreamtea · 01/06/2020 09:43

@ilovecherries. Thank you for the encouragement! I am struggling to lose weight - but seeing your (and other’s) success is so motivating!

ilovecherries · 01/06/2020 09:44

@Sadsammy

Can I add myself?
Welcome! If you want to be on the spreadsheet, just add your name to the end, and Athelstane will re-alphabetise you later. Just don’t touch the blue cells on it 😀
Notlostjustexploring · 01/06/2020 09:46

I want to thank whoever prompted us all to take measurements at the beginning. Like AthelstaneTheUnready I think the heat is screwing with my weight due to water retention, my six pound weight loss of yesterday reduced back to 2 this morning*, but I've lost an inch off both waist and hips so clearly something is going right!! I would be extremely pleased with an inch a week!!!

*I didn't drink my water yesterday. So squarely my own fault! Catching up now.

Mixitupalot · 01/06/2020 09:46

Well done everyone, its so inspiring to see ow well we have all done!

I've lost 5lbs this week, I've been really good and stuck to the calorie limits which has shown me just how much i had been piling onto my plate Blush

Heres to another fab week

MrsKoala · 01/06/2020 09:48

Morning all. I can’t believe people have lost 12lb !!!! Is that a boot camp record BIWI?

I am very pleased as have lost 5lb. Which takes me about 3-6lb near my target weight. Well done everyone.

SophieRay · 01/06/2020 09:51

That's reassuring to know re the exercise BIWI, think I'll restart when I feel a bit better as forcing myself to do it (like I did yesterday morning) is just going to make me more tired and I'm busy with work so I'll take a step back for a few days, stick with the food rules (eggs with butter were divine this morning) and focus more on self care as per ilovecherries suggestion yesterday. I do want to get fit, but maybe best to do one thing at a time.

Rshard · 01/06/2020 09:51

Everyone is doing so well and is so motivated, it’s really inspiring.

Lovely gesture from your kids devoncreamtea, bless them!

Burnshersmurfs · 01/06/2020 09:58

@BIWI

Wow! *@Burnshersmurfs* has lost a massive 12lbs - really well done! Flowers Flowers
Thanks (for everything you do, not just the flowers) ! My superpower is doing what I am told, so I stuck to the rules and it really worked!
AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/06/2020 09:59

You're on, @Sadsammy!

Just to weigh in (ahahaha Hmm) on the calorie/MFP debate. On a previous BC I stalled for nearly two months, despite being bang on the rules. Eventually @stuntnun came to my rescue and pointed out I was eating far too few calories. My body had adjusted to the new 'low' energy and was clinging on for dear life.

I upped the calories and fat, and started losing again the next day.

I'm glad I watched it for a week, as I honestly didn't realise how much I was overeating, but for me it's best to drop carbs, not massively reduce calories, if I want to lose.

OldLace · 01/06/2020 09:59

@ilovecherries thank you for your post from me too.

I lost a significant amount in a year, then put some back on the 2nd year. It's this I want to shift. I've struggled this week (a relationship is ending and I'm finding it hard) so have not stuck to the Plan properly.
So, I lost 3lbs by Weds but today am back up to start weight: ooof
Today marks another try. There is much Bootcamp to go!
I'm not sure if I should go back to week one, or try an egg fast (I'm not sure how to do this - is it literally JUST eggs?) or to join everyone on week 2. I am tempted by the egg fast as it would 'change' habits completely for a week and I think I need that?
Still, positives are: more water and sticking to 16:8. I'll take that!

Sadsammy · 01/06/2020 10:00

Thank you. I think I've added my details. It's very inspiring how much people have lost. Any fellow vegetarians on here with any tips?

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 01/06/2020 10:09

Added my weigh in to the spreadsheet. 4lb down for me, which is good, but as I’m very heavy I had hoped for more. I had stupidly weighed the day before yesterday and was 6lb down - now wishing I hadn’t!

Been sticking to it pretty strongly - no wine, no sneaky cake, - but did have a spoonful of ground almonds when I read about chaffles, as I was excited to try them, forgetting we weren’t allowed them yet, and have had a single sweetener in my morning coffee most days - so I’m a bit disappointed tbh if that’s enough to keep me from losing more.

I didn’t measure my water intake yesterday as we were out for a long walk and sharing a bottle, then used a glass at home, so I guess that could be it. Will crack on with the 3L again today!

I know it’s a marathon not a sprint though. I’ll keep at it as I’m definitely enjoying the food.
