Evening campers!

Setting this up now, as I had a bad night last night so I'm sloping off to bed early

@LostaraYil

Copied this from your post on last week's thread:

I haven't particularly minded calorie counting as it made me realise that I was eating a ridiculous amount before! I'll have a go at dropping it and hope I still lose, but it's a good thing to keep in mind in case of stalling. I think my problem on low carb has previously been too much cream and cheese, but the rules say to limit dairy so I will try to do that.

The inference in your post is that you think it's the calorie counting that has delivered your weight loss. While it will have helped, please remember that it's the carbohydrate that makes you gain weight, hence why this is a low carb high fat plan.

And yes, as you've noted, you do have to be careful with dairy - for some of us, cream and cheese can impede weight loss. Butter and yoghurt are fine.

Thanks for the new thread biwi

Lovely to read about the pounds lost, 4 for me which I’m really happy about and ready for week 2

Iamnotacerealkiller · 01/06/2020 07:09

Well my gob is well and truly smacked. I've lost 9.5lb!! 194 down to 184.5.

That for me is a record. Not even my first week ever resulted in that. (8lb 10 years ago!) I suppose the conclusion for me is that portion control is really the issue. I've cut down to one large hearty meal a day and two lighter ones (soup, salad or just picky bits).

BIWI · 01/06/2020 07:24

Brilliant! Flowers

Hooray for all the losses!
Cereal that's amazing.

Glad I weighed mid-week to see I was a couple of lbs down, because today... nada. Back to the weight I started.

HOWEVER, also measured this morning, and I have definitely lost

  • 1" off my bust
  • 1" off my waist
  • 1/2" off my hips (at whichever point I measure)

Could be the hot weather/gallons of water bloat, or could be something else, who knows, will KOKO as I'm definitely reducing.

ramarama · 01/06/2020 07:27

hmm, so weighed myself on Thursday and had lost almost 7 pounds, and today have put a couple back on (4 in total).

I expect this is due to my very drunken efforts on Saturday, so I'm not wholly surprised. (it was a friend's birthday and she was very miserable about being so lockdown lonely, and other valid reasons for misery, so I was being a supportive friend Grin )

I'm enjoying it though and rarely hungry, off to the shops to restock my fresh veg. (and i can do this solo because DS is back at school this morning!!! Smile

Wow! @Burnshersmurfs has lost a massive 12lbs - really well done! Flowers Flowers

OP posts:
venusandmars · 01/06/2020 07:32

2lb down - which is not massive, but at last it's a downward turn after the lockdown weeks of weighing more and more each day Blush

The things that feel like real achievements are from week 1:

  • 122,000 steps which is an average of 17,000 per day
  • I've broken my snack habit, not a single biscuit
  • I drank all the water and as a result my skin and eyes are looking so much better
  • I've got back into 16:8 IF and it feels good
  • I feel so much less bloated and more sprightly

Food today:
Will break fast with cream coffee
L - guacamole, blue cheese dip with cucumber, celery, raw cauliflower, small carrot, some salad leaves
D - left over salmon, buttered cabbage, with fried eggs

BrassicaBabe · 01/06/2020 07:51

0.8lb off! V happy with that!

0.8lb off lowest previous week to lowest this week, which happens to be today
About 4lbs off if I take into account last Monday's weight though
First Monday in forever where Monday's weight was actually less than Friday's weight. I've been stuck in a loop of off by Friday, back on by Monday.

1lb to go to get to place I'm happy/content with. 3-5lb to go to get me the wiggle room I like!

So great losses being posted. Well done folks Thanks

Puppermint · 01/06/2020 07:54

Morning losers, 5.8lbs off today, which I'm thrilled about and am even more delighted to only be overweight rather than obese.

Already Exercised and now back in bed with a coffee. Need to get moving as first meeting is in an hour and need to get DS sorted with schoolwork before then.

Sigh, back to reality...

Moraxella · 01/06/2020 07:55

Is anyone else BF and trying to keep carbs higher at ~60g? My aim this week is to get (from 4am wake up) to midday without a coffee 💆‍♀️

StarryStrawberry · 01/06/2020 07:56

Weigh in and 5lb down! Can't believe it as I went over calorie allowance pretty significantly in the second half of the week.
Really fantastic as I now have the motivation to keep going Smile

BIWI · 01/06/2020 08:09

... good evidence that it's the carbs that count, not the calories!

Anyway, no need to worry about those pesky calories now. Just focus on keeping your carbs low.

Some great losses, well done everyone SmileI have dropped 4lbs which I'm very happy with. Lockdown weight gone, now on to getting where I want to be. I feel quite nervous of not counting (old WW habit!). Does anyone still log their food on MFP just to track carbs?

Please - honestly - you don't have to track anything on Bootcamp!

Just follow the rules and you will be fine.

OP posts:
BIWI · 01/06/2020 08:27

The reason we don't have to weigh, count or track anything on Bootcamp is to make it as easy as possible to follow

It's NOT necessarily always easy to do - especially if you're a committed carbivore - but just having a set of 10 rules to adhere to takes a lot of the faff out of it, and means you can eat lovely food without having to keep focusing on being on a diet

PastramiNoRye · 01/06/2020 08:28

Thanks @BIWI! I'm so chuffed. I can really see the difference in my face; it's much less puffy!

I'm very motivated for this week (although I'm fully aware that any future losses won't be that big)!

Virago1 · 01/06/2020 08:31

Good work on all the losses! This is my first BC and it's been such a great experience seeing the posts and support every day.

I'm 5lbs down which I'm super happy with. My biggest takeaway this week is I need to control my portion sizes. I can eat and eat without ever really getting full, but the calorie counting forced me to have what I would have considered meagre portions only to find that I'm absolutely fine! No hunger and plenty of energy. I won't be calorie counting this week but I'll be keeping the smaller portions.

devoncreamtea · 01/06/2020 08:32

Morning campers! Some fantastic losses! Flowers

I have lost nearly a pound. 😳 Bit disappointed but I’ve known all week the scales weren’t shifting so not a surprise! Will focus on water and rules and see how it goes. I have lost an inch from waist in last 2 weeks and that hasn’t changed. I feel pretty good though (except for the hay fever 😬) and will keep going with my fingers crossed for a whoosh one day!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 01/06/2020 08:33

I'm breastfeeding but not counting anything. just going by how much I'm pumping and if dd is happy and hydrated.

adviceatthislatestage · 01/06/2020 08:44

Well done to all you losers out there.
Although I read through every day, I don't generally post as my meals are not exciting enough to report- and I'm scared I've eaten something forbidden and BIWI will get out her big stick Smile

I had one minor wobble (mindlessly ate a bag of popcorn- see abov Blush) but generally stuck to plan. So coupled with the 16:8 and exercise every day (insanity workouts really are insane!) have lost 4lbs.

I took a photo at the start of boot camp and in just one week, can already see a difference.

To keep motivated, have uploaded them to my mfp account. Talking of which, if anyone would like to add me as a friend to mfp, I'm razg26

Have a good week everyone

Flippinfurloughed · 01/06/2020 08:55

I’m 2lbs down and thrilled as I cheated and drank lots this week Blush

It’s really motivated me to kick some arse this week and knuckle down. Thank you so much for all the support @BIWI and the others Flowers

Freetodowhatiwant · 01/06/2020 08:56

Morning! 4.5lbs lost here which in a week (well, 6 days) is really good for me. My BMI was in the normal range already so I find those of us with not a huge amount to lose (Note: I still have 8lbs to go to my perfect weight so I'm not totally winning...) lose less than if we have a lot more to lose. So that I am very very chuffed with.

I am so glad I am doing this with you all. This is the first time I have done this with other people and I am finding reading the thread really motivating and reading it several times a day. So keep posting as it helps :)

Flippinfurloughed · 01/06/2020 08:56

I take it back!!! I lost 3.6!!!! WOW!!!!! I used the wrong start weight! Eeeehhh! I’m thrilled!
