Hi @sadsammy I do not eat meat but eat fish so am not a veggie per se but I find I am more drawn to veggie and have to force myself to eat fish. I am also not a great cook so seem to eat just different food products on a plate rather than create an actual 'meal' like I see people doing - creating chillis and curries etc etc. I wish I was a better cook and might try some things but I find it very nerve-racking. I am a healthy eater though so that's one thing. I don't (even usually) eat a lot of rubbish. I am looking for inspiration too and would love to see what other people eat. For eg a typical day this week for for me it was:

16:8 so no breakfast
L: 2 eggs scrambled with butter and whatever veg I have in
D: salmon or white fish fillet with veg

One dinner was literally a whole cauliflower roasted with butter and some cheese on top. Sometimes at lunch I will just have buttery tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese if I don't fancy the eggs. I am not sure if this is a great way to eat but it did work! I will often chuck in a handful of sunflower seeds to the veg. I realise non of this is very inspirational not a 'meal' per se like the people out there making all sorts of recipes!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 01/06/2020 10:11

*and by morning coffee I mean midday, as I’ve stuck to the 16:8 too

Sadsammy · 01/06/2020 10:16

@freetodowhatiwant Hi. Thanks for that. You sound very similar to me. I'll try to eat fish this week. My foodie friends despair of my simple meals!

Jofish26 · 01/06/2020 10:30

@ilovecherries thanks for your post it really helped! I am brand new to this woe and have a massive amount to lose so was hoping for a big loss in the first week but only managed 2lbs off. But,everytime I have tried to diet in the last four years I have ended up gaining weight in the first couple of weeks,I have no idea why although it could be my age(51) and hormones. It has been very demotivating. I have never drunk so much water and I don't think I managed my target of 4.5 litres but probably did 3 - 3.5.Sometimes I have been hungry and sometimes not. Loving all your tips, recipes, photos and support.

NumbsMet · 01/06/2020 10:31

Just checking in to the new thread. I updated my weight on the spreadsheet this morning. 5lbs down which I am very very pleased with. I remember the first time I had lots of weight to lose, I lost about 5-6lbs the first week and then an average of 2lbs every week following that. I'm really looking forward to getting this done 🙂

Ate very late last night so 'breakfast' will be at 2. Will have sparkling water as my usual placeholder.

Laska2Meryls · 01/06/2020 10:33

4.5lbs loss this week , really happy with that.. Smile

I a keeping on with 16:8 as it really does work for me ..

SophieRay · 01/06/2020 10:47

Freetodo - cauliflower with butter and cheese melted on top sounds lovely, think I'm going to try. Feel free to post whatever else you are having as I like easy things like this Smile

Yumsnet · 01/06/2020 10:48

It’s great to hear how everyone’s getting on.

I’ve lost 5 lbs which I’m really happy with. I weighed myself on Sat and I was 6lbs down then but hey ho. In the last few days I’ve had cream so I wonder if that made the difference...

Really getting into the 16.8 and want to keep that going. I find using Carb Manager to plan my food for the next day is helping me get my head round it all.

CalendulaAndRoses · 01/06/2020 10:49

Hi all - great to read everyone's posts and hear of some quite frankly AMAZING losses! I weighed this am and am 3lbs down, which I am delighted about as I didn't calorie or carb count. I did do a weigh towards end of last week and was one lb lighter, but I'll take no notice of that as I know from a few posts last week weight can fluctuate over course of few days. I'm just delighted to have eradicated the snacking habit and alcohol and hugely upped the water, both of which are just healthy habits I desperately needed. Ready for a new week .

Notice I am feeling much more anxious this last few days and have just realised I've been pretty much mainling VERY strong black coffee every morning to get me to lunchtime, I think this might be the culprit (and a horrendous workload, teens at home, lockdown etc etc etc ) so am going to ease way back this week and see what happens. I'm also taking a few days holiday from Weds to re-calibrate so that should help too.

Wishing everyone a great week 2!

Freetodowhatiwant · 01/06/2020 10:52

I forgot to say @sophieray and @sadsammy that I first roast in with oil or of course butter and a good sparkling of paprika - this is from a Hello Fresh recipe I got. It really is lovely. I am going to make it today.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/06/2020 10:56

SophieRay were you calorie counting in the first week? If so, I believe when you switch to Bootcampius Ordinariua this week then intermittent fasting will become incredibly easy.

This goes for everyone. Forget the calorie counting; embrace the high (good) fats and uncounted carbs (coming primarily from FLGV).

And drink ALL the WATER, EVERYDAY.

It bloody well works.

Have you checked out the Bootcamp recipe threads? There's a specific vegetarian one which might inspire you.

But you are going to keep an eye on your carbs this week, aren't you?

TheOriginalMrsMoss · 01/06/2020 10:58

I am 8lb down and inordinately pleased Grin

I was hoping for 4 so it's great. I'm not under any illusion that it's all fat but the effect of all the water has been amazing. My face, hands and feet are all visibly smaller and less puffy. I only took measurements on Weds so I'm going to take them again next Monday. I'm not going down the route of constantly weighing and measuring, just a weekly or monthly check-in.

I'm sticking to the IF and small window of eating because, for me, this has totally eliminated any hunger. I didn't count calories last week and had lots of delicious creamy sauces so it's a good start in the right direction.

Sauvignonismysaviour · 01/06/2020 10:59

Checking in after the weekend. Pleased with how this way of eating is going so far and haven't found it too much of a struggle, alcohol aside. That is an issue for me, I know I need to address it, I just don't feel I can do both at the same time, yet. And bootcamp is helping me be far more mindful so that is positive.

Looking forward to this week's meals and hearing some menu ideas. Thanks BIWI & Athelstane for this. It's really nice having all the virtual support everybody - sounds like there are lots of great results and positivity x

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 01/06/2020 11:18

Frustrating weigh in. No loss this week. I'd been reliably dropping 1lb a week for the last few weeks but now zilch.

I did only stick to 1000 cals for 4 days out of 7 but still should have netted a loss. Most annoying. Back to boot camp ordinaire now. Hope the plateau breaks soon.

RuffleBelly · 01/06/2020 11:28

A mixed weigh in - 3lbs down which is less than I would have liked BUT I didn't calorie count (I guesstimated), I did carb count though.

I know I didn't do enough exercise last week - work was manic and I didn't finish up until 8pm several nights. I also did dismally on drinking water which was a bit pathetic as that really shouldn't be hard seeing as I avoided chocolate, biscuits and crisps all week which was tough with three slim snack monsters in the house.

Food wise I'd give myself 8/10 for the week. I did have chick peas in one meal for example and know there is some room for improvement.

Ninkanink · 01/06/2020 11:32

This is week one for me. Back to my happy place. 👍

Weighed in, happy enough with my starting weight and confident I’ll quickly see results now that I can approach this in a positive way for me, but always have issues with the spreadsheet so I’ll just keep a weekly tally of weight loss myself. Work in kg so looking for probably 2-3 kg loss in the 4 week period, fingers crossed. However whatever happens any downward movement is a good thing as this is a long term for me as i primarily low carb for health reasons (even more so going forward).

Coffee with cream this morning. Lunch will be egg based, dinner is chilli.

Weight loss isn't linear though.

Forget about the calorie counting, and embrace the loveliness that is full-on Bootcamp eating!

(And don't forget the water ...)

@TheSnootiestFox

Just copying this over from the last thread:

10lb loss for me this week grin I'm delighted. I've lived of yoghurt and chicken broth though. I'm going to do the super strict thing until I've lost the first stone and then ease up I think! I can't do the unlimited low carb thing you talk about - I've tried several times and never lost a thing....I'm obviously destined to count calories for life hmm

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'unlimited low carb' though?

Please don't try and live on chicken broth and yoghurt - that really isn't a healthy or sustainable way to eat.

It's excessive carbohydrate that leads to weight gain. It really isn't about calories in/calories out.

What kind of things were you eating when you tried to low carb before?

OP posts:
SophieRay · 01/06/2020 11:44

ShagMe - yes was calorie counting last week. Wasn't eating as much fat, wasn't eating low fat but significantly less than previously just to keep within the calorie allowance - I wonder if the lack of high fat has contributed to not feeling too great, had eggs with a ton of butter this morning and already feeling a bit better than first thing. Will see how I go with hunger in a morning now I'm on Bootcamp Ordinaire and see if I can introduce the IF again, but for now it's just nice not being hungry!!

Glittercandle · 01/06/2020 11:44

Many good losses this week - well done.

Lost 4.4lbs, have been doing this since Jan and it gives me a loss of 50lbs so far!

HappyPumpkin81 · 01/06/2020 11:47

Well done to everyone for their losses. I am 4 lb down which I am very happy about. 16:8 is what is working well for me I think.

:)

csa26 · 01/06/2020 11:48

Hello everyone. 128.2 on the scales this morning so a loss of 5.4lb 😊

Had my first IVF scan today and it’s all going well but as expected the nurse was super not keen on me being in ketogenesis during IVF and wants carbs back in my diet straight away. So I’m thinking about upping the veggies, introducing some berries and trying for the next two weeks to maintain rather than lose weight and keep ketones no higher than the trace measurement.

I actually feel like I could easily maintain the super-strict regime so it’s a bit frustrating to be honest 😆 But my weight goals aren’t worth risking my IVF for (I obviously care more about having a second baby than about fitting into my trousers, otherwise I wouldn’t be going through with this in the first place!)

Was ridiculously terrified this morning that I could somehow have fucked my ovaries by doing the super-strict week (IVF screws with your head, for anyone who hasn’t realised this already) but all seems to be going fine and exactly like last time. Last time, though, I put on 5lb just doing the IVF (although was still a smidgeon light at start of pregnancy than I am now) so even maintaining will be an improvement.

Definitely couldn’t have done the super strict week without you guys and very glad I did! If I don’t end up pregnant a month from now will definitely go back on it while I’m in the between-month.

csa26 · 01/06/2020 11:49

Wow @Glittercandle that’s amazing!
