Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Although at this rate it will take me at least 12 to 15 weeks to get to my goal weight.

devoncreamtea · 31/05/2020 11:02

@randomfatty that’s great though! 3lbs is a good loss for a week! And honestly 15 weeks is nothing really, it will feel amazing if you’ve reached it by the autumn 🙂

SophieRay · 31/05/2020 11:11

Your post resonates devon - 41 here and put on four stones over four years since I relocated (haven't been happy since I did) often find myself pondering on my decisions that got me to this point. Hopefully losing the weight will be the first step to making other improvements.

I feel really tired and don't seem to have energy to do anything. As of this morning the scales are saying I've lost 8lb since Monday, which is amazing (have stuck to the Rules absolutely 100%) and made me consider whether to continue with the IF/counting calories/carbs to hopefully get another good loss next week - but if I carry on being so tired I might just end up giving up completely as I haven't found it easy 🤔

BIWI · 31/05/2020 11:33

@TheClitterati

Was working flat out and didn't attend to my meal planning that day. I was hungry. It was there on the table. Etc etc. But mostly because DD made it all herself and was glowing with pride and I bloody love cake.

Two important things here (and no, you're not an idiot, which is why I haven't quoted that bit!):

First, planning and preparation is absolutely key on this WOE. Hence why @NumbsMet and @SquishyBones also fell off the wagon. It's really important that you make sure you have easy, low carb stuff to hand for those occasions where you are tired/can't be bothered.

That slice of cake, or that sandwich, or that bread won't necessarily have undone what you've done all week, but it makes the job much harder for you! Get back on the wagon and be super strict - drink even more lots of water and up your exercise.

The second point is about eating to please others. This one is really difficult to deal with, especially when it's our children, or it's a special occasion - and there will always be times when we do give in. Just don't use it as an excuse to give in, though!

Wow! 8lbs is amazing - well done! Flowers

Re the fatigue, this is most likely carb flu and will soon pass.

However, I would suggest that rather than counting the calories next week, you move on to Bootcamp - which means that you can up your fat. More calories, and particularly more fat, will help to give you the energy that you need, once the carb flu has gone.

But don't give up now!

Also @SophieRay have you been considering your electrolytes? Sodium, magnesium and potassium are key.

Sodium is especially important - you need to make sure you're using salt in your cooking and on your food. Try a hot drink made from Oxo or Marmite or Bovril right now, and see if that makes you feel any better.

Other foods to include, for the other electrolytes, are salmon, avocado, spinach and full fat natural yoghurt.

It could also be worth getting an electrolyte supplement. High5 make one called Zero, which you can buy online from their website, or from Holland & Barrett/Evans Cycles/Halfords.

@Randomfatty

Morning - feeling a bit grumpy as well - cant believe I’ve let myself get into this state again!! Just weighed myself and have lost 3lbs in a week (started last Sunday) which is good - was hoping for more but maybe slow and steady is the way! Sad May keep to the strict boot camp for a couple of more days if I can. I am feeling quite drained of energy and slept hours and hours last night - maybe the body needs it but not feeling energetic as yet! Meals Lunch will be some sort of egg dish probably with smoked salmon Dinner probably salad or maybe aubergine ‘pizza’ again as that was very yummy. Have a good day x
My post (above) to SophieRay applies to you as well re the energy.

And please don't be disheartened by the loss! 3lbs is great! Did you not see the picture I posted of what a pound of fat looks like?

Thanks BIWI 😊. I'm really pleased with the loss, it's so motivating. Thank you for the advice - I will go onto Bootcamp Ordinaire (is that what we're calling it?) starting tomorrow and hopefully get some energy back.

SophieRay · 31/05/2020 11:53

Crossed posts with your second post BIWI, just bought some zero from amazon - cheaper than Holland and Barrett and will be delivered tomorrow 😊. Will go make an oxo drink now. Thank you for the advice, much appreciated. Don't know anything about electrolytes, sounds far too technical for me!!

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 31/05/2020 11:56

Morning all

I had half a piece of pork belly left over from last night for my breakfast, didn't finish it as I wasn't hungry - luckily DS1 who is part dustbin was around to stop it being wasted!! Grin

Shopping came so I have cream for my coffee again 🎉🎉🎉

Wormthatturned · 31/05/2020 12:14

Hi folks, just checking in with great news - salmon on a pile of stir fried bean sprouts is a bit like noodles but much nicer!
Also, my 'tight' shorts fit ok Smile
I gave up on the calorie counting but the 16:8 has been easy enough this week, (though might have to relax that a bit next week as my work schedule is less conducive to it).
I'm going to resist weighing until tomorrow but I suspect I've lost a couple of lb and that thought is making me quite motivated and cheerful today.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 31/05/2020 12:21

Overdid the calories yesterday, mostly due to wine. But clocked in at 1755 cals & only 37g carb. Pretty proud of that really since it was DD1 birthday and I resisted her treat day food:

B: Sweeties and pancake with ice cream
L: crisp sandwich (she's never had one and thought it sounded good!)
D: takeaway pizza, popcorn, chocolate fudge birthday cake and a piñata full of sweets.

I caved in to a single Malteaser which felt pretty virtuous. Grin

Freetodowhatiwant · 31/05/2020 12:26

Agh I fell off the wagon with a nutty florentine that DH brought home along with my first lockdown take away coffee! I will have to be twice as strict for a few days. Maybe do an extra day of the 1000 cals as I didn’t start until Tuesday anyway.

I’m nervous and intrigued about high fat low carb next week. I’ve had a lot of success previously with low carb but it wasn’t high fat. I didn’t avoid fat - usual breakfast would be cottage cheese with an apple and 10 almonds and lunch and dinner would be protein (plenty of fish and eggs) and veg but I wouldn’t hace added butter and extra fats into the equation. I know it works as I’ve seen other people do it! But I’m still nervous as I have an underactive thyroid and always feel I need to go that extra mile to lose weight. I was a size 8-10 last summer at 60kg (am 5.5ft) and would like to be that again soon. 5 kilos to go.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 31/05/2020 12:26

So sometimes when you fall off the wagon it's worth thinking about the good choices you did make & how bad it could have been rather than the slips.

venusandmars · 31/05/2020 12:29

Can't remember who was asking about cherry tea, but Twinings do this lovely one It has a sort of sweet smell to it, so it's good if I'm missing out on desert, and when on bootcamp lite I might have it with a square of 90% chocolate.

Had an amazing brunch - eggs Florentine with smoked salmon. I didn't have hollandaise but found an easy recipe using 100m mayonnaise, 50ml double cream, 50ml full fat yogurt, teaspoon of lemon juice, teaspoon of mustard, quarter teaspoon of smoked paprika, few drops of tabasco sauce, mixed well and warmed through. Spinach from the garden too, which made it even nicer. But was damn near 600cal, so need to go carefully the rest of the day.

Dinner will be beef carpaccio and salad with blue cheese dressing.

cockneylass · 31/05/2020 12:30

Once the calorie counting has stopped, is there such a thing as too much fat on LCHF?

Freetodowhatiwant · 31/05/2020 12:31

Thank you @ThinkAboutItTomorrow that does make me feel really better. I have generally stuck to it really well. I will try to think of that and not to beat myself up too much about it. It was such a pre-lockdown sign of normality the coffee and cake. It was technically also a fiorentine so full of nuts and no flour, but with added sugars Im sure.

PseudoBadger · 31/05/2020 12:34

Without sounding like too much of a bitch I hope, it's very early to be falling off the wagon! This WOE goes against society (in terms of available fast/treat food) and you have to get used to saying thanks so much, but no. Obviously planned celebrations are fine, but willpower is needed to be successful. It is so much easier to stick to the WOE, if you stick to it IYSWIM. Little excursions off here and there get that insulin going and you will fall off again. Trust me I have been there. I have had great BC successes, and also ones where I Haven't been strict from the start, felt guilty and unsuccessful all the time, and stopped pretty soon.

Wormthatturned · 31/05/2020 12:38

This is very nice and appears to be virtuous. Justified extra expense as I've not opened a bottle of wine this week. Any recommendations for anything similar?

It’s so much harder with lockdown ... gone are the days when you could just pop to shop for something you needed ... it just makes it all that more easy to grab what’s in the cupboard.

I’ve managed to secure an Asda click and collect for Tuesday night so I’m going to make sure I’m fully prepared for next week (I have enough low carb stuff in to eat before then).

DH has just made me a mammoth omelette using 4 eggs each!! No way could I eat all that but I managed half of it.

Had a good 8000 step walk with the dog this morning so feeling good! ☺️

SophieRay · 31/05/2020 12:42

Hot drink made with oxo is absolutely delicious - why have I never known this??

prettybird · 31/05/2020 12:47

It's not so much that there is the possibility of "too" much fat but that you need to start to listen to your body and only eat when hungry

As long as you do that, you don't eat too much.

Fat is very satiating - so learn to eat mindfully. Smile

Ninkanink · 31/05/2020 12:54

I love the fact that I’m never hungry when I am strictly LCHF (once I’m fat adapted, obviously). I only ever eat when I’m not hungry on low carbing regime when I’m emotionally eating, which I do try to keep to a minimum.

Ifeelfat · 31/05/2020 13:06

Would it be ok to repeat this week?
I feel great, really enjoying being back ‘on track’, know I’m shifting some weight, and worry that if I start eating more calories/carbs it’ll slow down or stop.

NumbsMet · 31/05/2020 13:14

I am also interested to know how long is appropriate to continue low calorie low carb. I have always been better with calorie counting than any other diet method and would prefer to stick with it for longer, unless it is likely to cause weight loss to slow down for any reason. I have a lot of weight to lose so I wouldn't feel like I'm being too extreme?
