Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Hello all, I'm still horribly behind on the thread, so I hope everyone is having a good first week.

I have been doing ok. Managing 800 cals comfortably, also same with TRE, although I find I still need a coffee with almond milk at about 9.00am, but then can wait until lunch no problem, so other than the coffee, I am really only eating between 1pm and 7pm.

I made a delicious spaghetti Bol tonight and had it with konjac noodles.

Tomorrow I am navigating the last of my family birthdays this week, and it is tricky when there is all the emotion around birthday cake. We have quite severe food intolerances in the family, so a lot of love and care goes into baking dairy free versions. Anyway, I hope my DD has a wonderful day tomorrow and I am hoping to keep super strict week 1 going on for a few days more.

NumbsMet · 30/05/2020 23:04

@BrassicaBabe no they don't take naps 😭😭 but they sleep aaaaalllll night so I really don't have any right to complain Grin. And Peppa Pig, I swear they add little jokes in there for the adults that watch it with their kids. I might be coming back to you occasionally for twin-tum flattening motivation Blush I hope you don't mind!

Freetodowhatiwant · 30/05/2020 23:05

This sounds silly but I’m almost scared to change the WOE come Monday when we go onto the next stage. Just in case that doesn’t work as well. I know it will do if we stick to it but it’s almost like lockdown- I’ve become used to it too quickly and am worried about the easing of the diet!

NumbsMet · 30/05/2020 23:15

So... progress wise...

I am not proud but today I made a poor decision. For dinner, I wanted to eat to make sure I didn't slow my metabolism, but I couldn't stomach the idea of any salad or solo meat. I made myself a sandwich Blush. A very basic sandwich, turkey ham, bread and Marge, but a sandwich nonetheless. So I would like some advice if anyone is able to help - how many more days do I need to continue the super strict portion of the diet in order to properly go into ketosis? My guess is I start the full seven days again tomorrow and I am okay with that if it's what needs to be done.

Food and calorie wise though:

B - Sea bass fillets with lemon pepper butter
L - sparkling water
D - turkey ham sandwich

Calories = 966, carbs = 80g

Stepharoo78 · 30/05/2020 23:20

Had to go to bed to stop myself snacking! Had the usual omelette for lunch and then steak with roasted veg for dinner. About 950cal and well under 60g carbs.
Had Perrier water to drink tonight even though DD1 was horrible tonight and I desperately wanted a glass of red!

Stepharoo78 · 30/05/2020 23:21

@Freetodowhatiwant I know what you mean. Given more wriggle room I’m worried I’ll take full advantage

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/05/2020 05:22

I finally managed the 16:8 window and just over 1000 calories yesterday and . I’m working on very low energy stores in comparison to the average person so my progress is greatly hampered. As is my ability to exercise.

We are doing a bbq and have invited some people for the first time in almost a decade due to my health. Therefore I shall try and have a sleep later. I know this probably means I cannot exercise today and most likely tomorrow. I didn’t managed yesterday either. I will see if I’m up to a walk in a while....

SquishyBones · 31/05/2020 06:22

@NumbsMet

I ate bread yesterday too. My intention was to have a burger in “Keto mug bread” but when it came to it I couldn’t be bothered to faff. The kitchen was a mess, an actual bread roll was sat there looking at me so I just used it 🤦‍♀️

Interested to see what stage two involves as I’ve totally cocked up stage one.

OneFootintheRave · 31/05/2020 07:14

I managed to swerve wine last night so feeling strong. I'm brewing up a huge jug of fresh ginger, lemon and cinnamon tea in the morning for a whole day yesterday.

Did a 18K bike ride but I do have a power assisted bike as it is hot and hilly here!Grinyou still have to pedal though.

I will be sticking with this boot camp for another week though. I only started Tuesday and though I have stayed within the carb and cal limits, I did have red wine 3 nights so I'm on a roll now. I'm enjoying the WOE and the 16:8 is OK.

I've got a relatively small (5KG) amount of stubborn post-meno flab to shift so it's going to be a long game for me. I may even buy a set of scales (never done that before)!

BrassicaBabe · 31/05/2020 08:42

We BBQed last night. All LC on plan but definitely too many calories. I'm ok with that.

We're going to the beach today!! Everyone else will have fish and chips. I won't. Sometimes my willpower is awesome! And I know I can swerve that one. I've got some raw lamb kofta mix in the fridge. Think I'll make that up and take it with me. But I need to be careful today after BBQ calorie splurge from last night. 1.8lb off is in my minds eye!

Rowing later too in the sunshine. Today is a good day!

Mixitupalot · 31/05/2020 08:43

Morning all, are we weighing in tomorrow??

I am feeling great atm, I’ve been very good all week and my DH even said he can see a difference.

BrassicaBabe · 31/05/2020 08:44

Meant to say, Pretty your sausage (boerwust? Spelling all wrong) looks amazing. And did I see something about a little side line wine business?! Care to share details?! 😊

prettybird · 31/05/2020 08:55

I'll message you @BrassicaBabe when I'm back on the laptop. Smile

Boerewors are a South African speciality (it means "farmer's sausage") and are essentially pure meat (beer and pork), fat and quite a lot of some spices - so ideal for Boot Camp Grin. They're also nice cold.

My next batch will be much better, both through me learning bits like how to feed the sausage skin on to the funnel properly Blush - plus my dad was remembering all sorts of snippets of advice he'd forgotten to pass on. And I've to get pig sausage skins with a bigger bore - although dad thinks he has some in the freezer.

BrassicaBabe · 31/05/2020 09:01

Have you seen this site pretty? sausagemaking.org

It's excellent. And used to have a great forum too. Haven't used it for ages. But I used to have a few hobby pigs so I've had a good go at sausages, salami etc over the years

I don't think I get message notifications via the phone app. I'll have to log on proper too.

Puppermint · 31/05/2020 09:31

Morning everyone, sun is shining and I'm feeling good today. Scales showing 6lb off, which is the most I've ever lost in the first week of BC probably becaus it's the first time I've stuck to the rules and DH has lost half a stone, despite eating houmous twice and a fair few carrots.

I've already done a tough circuits class this morning and we're off out to the local forest for a long walk in a bit.

Have family Zoom session later too which always involves at least a bottle of wine and lots of crisps/carby nibbles but today I'm going for fizzy water and olives 😇

Going to try and stick to 800 cals today as would love to see another lb off by the morning so I can match DH's loss

NumbsMet · 31/05/2020 09:46

@Squishybones even though we both cocked up, I'm glad I'm not the only one 😅. Today's a new day! What is keto mug bread?! 🤔

TheClitterati · 31/05/2020 09:50

^*
and scoffed a large slice of a delicious cake dd made*^

Why?

@BIWI Because I'm an idiot. Was working flat out and didn't attend to my meal planning that day. I was hungry. It was there on the table. Etc etc. But mostly because DD made it all herself and was glowing with pride and I bloody love cake. But there will be no more cakes made during bootcamp. Dd is making biscuits today but they will be kept out of sight in a container.

Apart from that blip I've done well. Now at the end of first week I've slipped back into LC eating and I'm really enjoying it so much. Also 16:8 is going really well. And 6 sea swims over last week have been an incredible tonic. I think I'm hooked.

TheClitterati · 31/05/2020 09:56

venus I'm loving the courgette Singapore noodles idea. I'll be having that one night this week. Thank you.

prettybird · 31/05/2020 10:17

The "being out of sight" really does help.

Having made my batch of tablet, I immediately bagged it all up, ready to go into boxes of wine (and a couple of small boxes that I'm sending to friends) so that it was out of temptations' way Grin

And I didn't have a single bit - gave dh a piece to check the texture and put the chunks of scrapings/broken bits into a wee bowl for dh and my dad to finish have that evening with their coffee Halo

TheClitterati · 31/05/2020 10:25

Nice one prettybird & good planning.

DD proudly displayed her cake on table and it caught my eye many times before I had some. If it had been out of sight it would probably have been different. Lesson learned.

SquishyBones · 31/05/2020 10:27

@NumbsMet

3tbsp almond flour
1tbsp butter
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg

All mixed together in a mug and then microwaved for 90 seconds. Everyone goes mad for it on the Keto groups! I’ve not tried it yet though 😂

gimmedelicious.com/90-second-keto-bread/

prettybird · 31/05/2020 10:31

If you're following the Rules - if you're not veggie - you can't have almond flour yet. Not until Boot Camp Light.

Wouldn't want you to unintentionally fall victim to BIWI's Big Stick! Shock

devoncreamtea · 31/05/2020 10:40

Morning campers!
Sorry to hear of temptations getting in the way. It is hard to adjust - sometimes I think it’s as much about habit as anything else. Keep going though - especially with the great losses you are seeing already.

I felt sorry for myself last night, feeling angry that I had let myself get so overweight and that I hadn’t paid attention to my health and well-being. I am 40 and having something of a mid life crisis this year!! I seem to be doing a lot reviewing of my lifestyle and decisions I’ve made. It’s quite unsettling, but I hope it is a sign of growth (not waistband growth though!!!)
Off to beach again today.
B scrambled egg, kimchi (last bit!) avocado and mushroom
L ?!salad?
D chicken curry and cauli rice

Randomfatty · 31/05/2020 10:55

Morning - feeling a bit grumpy as well - cant believe I’ve let myself get into this state again!! Just weighed myself and have lost 3lbs in a week (started last Sunday) which is good - was hoping for more but maybe slow and steady is the way! Sad May keep to the strict boot camp for a couple of more days if I can. I am feeling quite drained of energy and slept hours and hours last night - maybe the body needs it but not feeling energetic as yet!

Meals
Lunch will be some sort of egg dish probably with smoked salmon
Dinner probably salad or maybe aubergine ‘pizza’ again as that was very yummy.
Have a good day x

SquishyBones · 31/05/2020 10:56

@prettybird

😱 thanks for the warning! I didn’t realise!

I never had any, I promise ... I can even post a photo of the unopened packet as proof! 😁
