Good evening!

Trying to get ahead of everything, as I know tomorrow will be a real rush with people signing up, etc.

Here's the spreadsheet with many thanks to the ever lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for her sterling efforts

Today, for me, is the start of week 3 of the C25K programme.

I can't believe that a few years ago I was routinely running 5K about 3 times a week. I'm sitting here dreading today because I'll have to run for 3 minutes!!! Twice!!!

@venusandmars are you not participating in the IF then?

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 25/05/2020 09:41

Right 139.6 today. Really hoping to accelerate my weight loss from 1lb a week as it's dragging on and I'm sure the last stone will be harder than the first one.

Off to do 400 calories on the cross trainer.

Picnic today will take will power.

venusandmars · 25/05/2020 09:46

@BIWI I've done 12 hours IF for 2 days, doing 14 hours yesterday and today, then back to 16 from Tuesday...

notacooldad · 25/05/2020 09:47

I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, bar full term pregnancy
To my shame I'm heavier than that! Much heavier!😪

BIWI · 25/05/2020 09:49

A word about The Big Stick

Grin

Bootcamp is designed to be easy to follow. Ordinarily that means no carb (or calorie) counting, just sticking to the rules.

However, that doesn't mean it's necessarily easy to do!

It's also an unforgiving way of eating. You can't have a 'good' day to compensate for a 'bad' day - you have to be low carb all the time. If you cheat, it won't work, and you'll undo all the good work you've previously done.

I will call you out if you're eating things you shouldn't!

This has become known as The Big Stick. I try not to wield it too much or too hard, but I will use it. There's absolutely no point me sugar-coating things - that won't help anyone.

So I'm apologising in advance ...

Ok idk if this will end up being a duplicate. Internet playing up...

Thanks for getting back to me. I am using it to change the texture to crunchy / chewy from slimy and yes, it is sweet. Take your point and will grin and bear the coconut oil.

I have a large hernia. I’m using bootcamp to eat the foods I need to improve my chances of my next surgical hernia repair being a success. I’ve been told I have collagen issues, which makes reoccurrence more likely and hence why the last repair failed. Ergo eat coconut oil, bone broth and a list of other nutritional foods.

Hopefully whenever I manage to get surgery, I will no longer be obese and will have a better chance of this op being a success.

Mint tea for breakfast - and it looks like a lovely day out there for exercise today.

Thanks for setting this up and for all the suggested menus. I have a fridge full of (HF)LC foods and a heart full of enthusiasm.

I'm a long term LCHF (I like the food and love being free of my sugar-cravings) but weight has stagnated and then risen recently during lockdown.

This IF is new to me.

devoncreamtea · 25/05/2020 10:01

So I took @BIWIs advice and calculated carbs and Cal for today’s meal ideas using my fitness pal - dunno how accurate that is!

L scrambled egg (calculated individual components!!!) , avo half, salad leaves and kimchi
D rib eye steak (with a creamy sauce) salad, avocado, asparagus. Horseradish.

Comes in at 980 cals and 16g carb. Hope it fills me up 😬 mfp gives you a warning if you log less than 1000 cal just to let you know.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/05/2020 10:01

Oh, good luck @Mummyoflittledragon! I'm sure you've read somewhere that sugary stuff is the absolute death knell for collagen though, so absolutely this is the right thing to do for you Flowers

devoncreamtea · 25/05/2020 10:05

I really hope this works for you @Mummyoflittledragon - sounds like you’ve had a time of it. Flowers

venusandmars · 25/05/2020 10:06

Also BIWI I'm missing my caffeine hit in the morning, and I really don't like black coffee (the morning one is the only caffeine I have all day). Will have to experiment with IF timings, an earlier dinner, finished by 7pm would allow for creamy coffee at 11am... I could hang on that long!

Added challenge today is that I've got a pot of chicken bones on to boil and THE delicious smell is making me salivate Smile Anyway I've made it to 10am, so 14 hours done. Kettle on!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/05/2020 10:06

Ok, so the day is off to a successful start:

  • first litre of water downed
  • 14:10 IF, broken with one creamy coffee, that's it until lunch
  • toenails painted with gold flecks a la olympic goddess to set mental direction Wink

Exercise: hate it. Will be digging a long potato trench out of the turf this afternoon though, so that will count.

L: buttered broccoli and leeks
D: probably duck breast with more broccoli and leeks

Good luck, everyone!

BIWI · 25/05/2020 10:10

I have been surprised that I can actually quite enjoy black coffee - I've resisted giving up the milk for years! I definitely still prefer white coffee, but I can quite happily stick with it black if I have to.

Unfortunately my milkman didn't adjust my order as requested, so I now have 2 pints of milk in the fridge - no-one else in the house uses milk.

Reporting in. I suspect bootcamp is going to kick off with a 24 hour fast. 😢. Woke up at 1am, having felt fine when I went to bed, with D&V and a fever. Horrible four hours followed. I feel much better now but even the thought of food is making me 🤮 so I’m going to have a lazy, quiet day. Still in bed atm. Thing is no idea where it came from. Someone in the house is sheilding so none of us have been out of the house except for solitary (and they ARE solitary) daily walks since mid March. We’ve all been eating together and eating exactly the same things. It’s a bit scary if I’ve somehow picked up a bug with the level of isolation and hygiene we have. Off to try some mint tea. See you later!

BIWI · 25/05/2020 10:21

Oh no! Sorry to hear that @ilovecherries - hope you're better soon.

And @Mummyoflittledragon I hope this WOE works for you - sounds like you've been having a tough time.

11st 5lbs this morning. This time last year I was 10st 😩

I was up at 6 and walked the dog for an hour and a half so got 5000 steps in before 8am.

Homemade fish pie for dinner (cauliflower mash) and making a slow cooked chicken masala for tea (with cauliflower rice lol).

Am I allowed SF cordial? Desperate for a cold drink that isn’t water.

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 25/05/2020 10:25

On it.

Huge thanks to all who have a hand in putting this together.

I’m banging my head on the next stone up, which is the limit on my elasticated waists.

But I genuinely love veg, can happily do eggs every day, and don’t have a sweet tooth - so it’ll be eeeeeaasy, right??

Virago1 · 25/05/2020 10:29

Good morning! I've added my weight to the spreadsheet and am off to a good start, already walked the dog and cleaned the house. Will do a workout later on.

Lunch today is a salad with halloumi, dinner will be meatball stroganoff with mashed celeriac. Coming in at 994 cals and 39g carbs.

BIWI · 25/05/2020 10:30

@SquishyBones - sorry, but SF squash isn't allowed, as it has artificial sweeteners in it.

Try making up a jug of water with slices of lemon or limes or cucumber in it; alternatively you can make up some fruit/herbal tea and then chill that?

OP posts:
JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 25/05/2020 10:35

I bought celeriac, for the first time ever.

Looks like it’s got the density of a brick, I can see some knives being sacrificed in the name of cooking the beast.

Mixitupalot · 25/05/2020 10:36

Good Morning everyone. Today i am at my heaviest since i had my son!! I am determined to make it time to my ideal weight and into healthy BMI.

Taking the kids out for a walk and me & DH are starting c25k this evening, which i am looking forward to.

Good luck Smile

Rshard · 25/05/2020 10:37

Lots of honesty and positivity around this morning, really spurs me on.

I’m a recent convert to black coffee too BIWI and really enjoy it now

That sounds nasty ilovecherries, hope you feel better soon

ValancyRedfern · 25/05/2020 10:39
