an '20 - Week 5 Low Carb Bootcamp - Onwards and downwards!

Welcome to week 5 of the Low Carb Bootcamp; we're nearly halfway through! If you've had a pause in your weight loss during week 3 or week 4, the scales should hopefully be moving again now and you can expect an average weight loss of half a pound to 2 lb each week. Nobody ever gets consistent weight loss from week to week so try not to get hung up on each week's weigh-in, it's the overall trend that we want to look at. If you're a daily weigher then try an app such as Happy Scales or True Weight that uses a rolling daily average to give you a more accurate record of your weight loss.

Add today's weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. And here's to another great week...
Onwards and downwards!

@ShagMeRiggins on and off for 10 years! Shock My most successful attempt was with the help of hypnotherapy (which was great but £££££). I'm pretty disinterested in food but will happily dive into cakes, biscuits, desserts etc. with anything chocolate-y preferred.

I am much better than I used to be but I would love to be one of those people who could have one biscuit or a single square of chocolate and leave the rest. My DD (12) will eat half a bar of chocolate, put the rest away and simply forget it exists. That is mind boggling to me!

sheepysheep · 10/02/2020 15:16

Thanks BIWI - I have just beaten myself with the big stick and will be good this week 😇

Well done all!
Still here and V. Strict apart from dark chocolate becoming too much of a habit!

Twit · 10/02/2020 17:24

Hi all! I've had a good week food-wise, drank all my water and did 6pm - 10 am fasting 3 times. After my period, I'm now back in the 11s, which means I lost 4lbs over the weekend!
I'm planning 2 fasts this week, to see what happens really, and to see if it helps with my bloating around ovulation.

I hope everyone is ok? KOKO.

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/02/2020 18:50

It’s good to read of all the success stories
I sts this week , which I’m happy with as I did self sabotage at the weekend
Had a late breakfast , early dinner ( DH had to go back to work at 5-45 and I didn’t want to cook twice )
B fried eggs in olive oil and butter
D turkey steak fried in butter with a massive green ( cabbage , courgettes , mushrooms, shallots and kalettes ) stir fry
Will top up with a couple of lemon and ginger teas and some more water water water ✅

Tenementfunster · 10/02/2020 20:05

2 pounds off this week. So that’s a stone off in 6 weeks. I’m very happy. Thanks for all the support. X

Harveywoo · 10/02/2020 20:55

Well done everyone!
B: ham egg mushrooms butter
L: tuna avacado mayo lettuce wraps
Snack 1/2 orange, walnuts
D: chicken drumsticks, courgettes, rocket cheesey mayo dip
20g dark chocolate (becoming a bit of a habit this one, and given that I STS this week, considering whether I should go back to strict bootcamp. Also pondering portion sizes, I’m not great at being moderate

Almahart · 10/02/2020 21:09

Posted too soon...

Was looking forward to steak and salad but got home to fine my ds has made cottage pie so I had that with cheese instead of mash and left the carrots. It was to what I wanted really but hey ho.

Resisted his home made flapjacks and had a melted dark chocolate square in some double cream instead.

No wine bc and lots of water!

BIWI · 10/02/2020 21:35

@Harveywoo

1/2 an orange, walnuts and chocolate?!

BIWI · 10/02/2020 21:36

You do realise that an orange is really high in carbs? If it was a big orange that half could have been as many as 11g of carbohydrate.

BrassicaBabe · 10/02/2020 22:01

I did it! I spent several hours in an airport without wine! I feel now that that hurdle is out of the way the next 2 days away will be easier.

I'm down on my water today but food has been bang on plan.

Tomorrow will be controlled as there's a lunch buffet. But a lunch buffet that I ordered! (Ok the menu was in German and I selected items using google translate but I'm pretty sure there are LC options!). Then we'll do burger or steak house for dinner. 👍

KOKO folks!

Lionsleepstonight · 10/02/2020 22:15

Right, after feeling quite confused by my weight loss / gain two steps forward and one back, today I've weighed in with 8lb loss. Bit weirded out as some days its been 14lb???
Anyhoo, please can somone add 177 to the spreadsheet for me.
I'm moving over to BCL, mainly for the breakfast. Ive got Alpro Almond yogurt, with a dollop of double cream, 5 raspberries and 5 almonds. Is thst ok?

Harveywoo · 10/02/2020 22:45

I know @biwi and not feeling proud ( I rarely do, self sabotage is a thing with me) but trying to log honestly what happened today so I can’t deny it later to myself! The orange though ... there was guidance of max one fruit for BC light and to check on diet doctor for carbs, and I did. Orange (rather than sweeter tangerine type) is supposed to be substantially lower carbs) but all together it’s added up to too much.

BIWI · 10/02/2020 22:48

Really?! Said who?

The only fruits that you should be eating on Bootcamp Light - which are in the rules! are berries.

The Big Stick. Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 11/02/2020 00:10

Ps—in my experience, The Bjg Stick has a bark much worse than its bite.

The Big Stick is accurate, but never meant to be unkind. And it’s unlikely to be personal. Just my interpretation.

CheddarGorgeous · 11/02/2020 05:40

Please, keep up with the Big Stick. I need it!

HouseTornado · 11/02/2020 06:45

Morning....food today....

B: IF so none
L: Veggie curry with FGLV
D: Cheese omelette

Water!

We're away for a half term with friends/kids, then coming back to no kitchen for 2 weeks. It's going to be tough!

StuntNun · 11/02/2020 07:20

I'm back! Sorry for lurking for the past few days. I took a turn for the worse over the weekend but I'm on the mend now. I have a full evening of meetings today from 3.45 to at least 8.30 p.m. so that's going to be a bit tricky as I usually eat dinner early. I'll have to stop at the petrol station on the way and buy some nuts or something to keep me going.

Harvey one fruit per day = one portion of fruit per day. Here's the Diet Doctor info on the carb counts of fruitss* link. Raspberries, blackberries and strawberries are the best options.

My day:

B: sausage, avocado fillings scraped out of baps (breakfast meeting)
L: ham and mozzarella salad
D: chicken, chorizo and tomato bake with FLGV

Snacks: boiled egg, natural yoghurt

Exercise won't be great this week, I can't get to the pool and I'm not cycling because of the weather.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and dry.

BIWI · 11/02/2020 07:49

Welcome back @StuntNun! I've been keeping them all warm for you Smile

Glad you're on the mend.

Rshard · 11/02/2020 08:24

Glad to see you around stuntnun and that you’re on the mend

Harveywoo · 11/02/2020 08:36

Thanks @stuntnun, yes that’s the one I noted down from you before.
I’m not so good with a big stick, it has the effect of demotivating me and leaving me just a bit sad I’m afraid, I do take things very personally (my problem). It’s the first time I’ve plucked up the courage to join anything like this, just hoped for a bit of support . Glad it works for others but this was the third similar, so in an act of self preservation I’m going to disappear from here. Thanks for all the info and well meant advice, and good luck all, you’re doing an amazing thing for yourselves !
