Welcome to week 5 of the Low Carb Bootcamp; we're nearly halfway through! If you've had a pause in your weight loss during week 3 or week 4, the scales should hopefully be moving again now and you can expect an average weight loss of half a pound to 2 lb each week. Nobody ever gets consistent weight loss from week to week so try not to get hung up on each week's weigh-in, it's the overall trend that we want to look at. If you're a daily weigher then try an app such as Happy Scales or True Weight that uses a rolling daily average to give you a more accurate record of your weight loss.

Add today's weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. And here's to another great week...

Morning!

I've stayed the same, but appreciate having a crunchie on Saturday is the culprit.

B: Nothing, IF
L: Omelette and salad
D: Chicken curry, FGLV

Water!

Mimosa1 · 10/02/2020 06:48

Down 1 kg today, really pleased with that as I've had a number of social events to navigate this week.

@harveywoo I use this LivLife bread. Be warned the slices are tiny but it hits the spot. The carb zone one is good too, but more like a German rye bread. It's nice with cream cheese, slices toms and pepper, or smoked salmon and the slices are bigger than LivLife for the same carb count. For some reason they take a long time to toast so you typically need to whack the toaster on its highest setting.

I can't seem to do the clicks links so I've added photos, hope that's ok.

Morning please could somebody kindly add my weight 124.9.?

So pleased to read your 2nd sentence stuntnun! Hoping for better things this week.

Period late so annoying because I feel hungry a lot and I didn’t 2 weeks ago.

SayrraT · 10/02/2020 07:10

I've sts this week but hopefully onwards and downwards in future Smile

Hope everyone is happy with their weight this week. If you've sts or gained just try and honestly consider your week, do you know why you've not lost (I do!). If you don't know but you are otherwise feeling good then KOKO or ask for advice Smile

Rshard · 10/02/2020 07:26

Thanks for the new thread stuntnun

I’ve sts too, which I’m ok. Carrying on with the IF this week.

Have a great week all!

DiscontentedWoman · 10/02/2020 07:29

3.5lb off - now 11lb down from the start weight. Very pleased. Having a running around day, plus this storm so I think I will make it a one meal day tbh. Works out easier than trying to faff on the hoof.

OptimisticSix · 10/02/2020 07:39

Really happy to report this morning I weighed in at 138.8, in the 9s for the first time in... Well I can't even remember how long!!! I just really want to be comfortably 9 something now Grin

Teapotdespot · 10/02/2020 07:43

Well as you can see from my graph, my stall well and truly ended and I’m back to losing pretty quick. I’m down 4.2lbs last week after a 2.2lb gain the week before and only a 0.4lb loss the week before that which was infuriating at the time, but when I look at my graph on happy scale, actually all the gains have evened out and the general trend was still down even though at the time it felt like I’d put it all back on.

The dots with lines going to them are the actual weights I’ve entered. If I weighed only on mondays, this week I’d have gone from 19st 6.6lbs all the way down to 18st 12.8 Shock

My overall rate of loss is at 2.85lbs per week so still a bit faster than the 2lbs I’m aiming for, but it’s still early and I have a lot to lose, so it should slow down soon.

I’ve never ever found any diet that’s seen me consistently lose weight at a rate faster than 0.5lbs a week or slower because I’ve always just accepted that as part of my PCOS, it’s a lot harder to lose weight. That’s true, it is a lot harder to lose weight with PCOS when you’re eating high carb bloody ‘diets’ Hmm

Other excellent benefits I found this week:

I HAVE SO MUCH HAIR Grin my hair is suddenly very thick and glossy after years of it falling out (PCOS again)

People have mentioned my weight loss to me for the first time. My mum said ‘gosh you’ve lost some weight, I can see in your face!’

My skin is so much better.

Fairly sure I’m about to ovulate again, bringing my cycle from 50 days + to around 28 days in the space of just 2 cycles. I’ve gone from having about 3 cycles a year to 2 already Confused

Fair to say I am absolutely loving what this WOE is doing to my body. It feels like my body is saying ‘YES! Finally she’s got it right!!’. I’m not really bothered about weight loss at this point, I just feel SO much better!

I'm 11lbs down overall. Really pleased. Hit a rocky spot at the end of week 2 and normally would have given up but I've stuck with it, through the week 3&4 plateau. Started losing again yesterday.

MrsBertBibby · 10/02/2020 07:50

Well done all! Only a pound this week for me, but yesterday went a bit pear shaped as the boy wanted to bake, so a) some cookie dough got licked, and b) the recipe turned out to involve a lot of chilling and rolling out, so the kitchen got a bit inaccessible for my own cooking plans. Lesson : read the recipe first because he never will!

Serious blast this week before the trip away. Hoping not to do too much damage while away. Try and avoid the obvious carbs and limit the damage to beans, pulses and root veg.

HouseTornado · 10/02/2020 07:51

Rshard, snap on STS and IF....I'm sticking with IF but will weigh on Friday to see if it's helping or hindering...

MrsBertBibby · 10/02/2020 07:52

Teapot that is fabulous!

Harveywoo · 10/02/2020 07:55

Thanks @Mimosa1!
Ah poo , stayed the same this week but focussing in the overall loss so far to keep me motivated

glittercandle · 10/02/2020 07:57

3.6lbs off this week which is great, 15lbs in total!

BrassicaBabe · 10/02/2020 08:11

Great post teapot

2lbs on for me. But better than the 4lb on it was at one point mid week.

I'm in Germany today til late Wednesday so expect to see scratchings, snack cheese and pepperami featuring quite heavily. The main plan and first ever attempt this week will be no wine on a work trip. Starting with no wine at the airport. This has never happened. My travelling colleague doesn't drink much so I'm going to share my plan with him in advance for accountability 🤞

Nux · 10/02/2020 08:16

Humph. Lost a lb this week but annoyed as I have weighed lower than that ALL WEEK so not sure what’s going on today. On the plus side my size 16 jeans (bought in emergency before Christmas because my normal jeans were all too small) are feeling loose this morning!

BIWI · 10/02/2020 08:22

Morning all.

Hope you're feeling better, @StuntNun?

Almahart · 10/02/2020 08:24

Sts but I started a week or so later than everyone else so not surprising. Also had wine and flat whites - don’t be doing that again

waspfig · 10/02/2020 08:25

Sts here too. Not surprised though as I did have a bottle of wine to myself over the weekend and didn't get enough water down.
Have a fairly calm week this week so hammering the water, yoga tonight and keeping the meals simple with just meat and veg.

Rshard · 10/02/2020 08:32

Lovely read teapot, the benefits of this woe are fabulous.

How bizarre housetornado!

Some great losses and brilliant nsv’s. I know my tummy is less because my pants aren’t constantly rolling down under my c section overhang! Bit weird but I’ll take it!

rodez · 10/02/2020 08:33

Stormy Monday greetings

Another kg down for me, which I am pleased about as 2 mini twixes did leap into my mouth midweek without me really intending to or enjoying after being left by the kids and had a lovely headache a day later in punishment as well. Still no alcohol to avoid that slippery slope, but otherwise back to being able to drink more water during the week more easily.

Late to comment on earlier thread but also about to turn 46 and after having my last at 43 and not appreciating that even though I was not losing, breastfeeding was making a difference to me not piling on the weight compared to what happened after when it has leapt up, it has definitely all gone on my already kangaroo pouch of a stomach and staying there. Keen to see my waist again and starting to notice clothes feeling looser. Now back to my 1 Jan 2019 all time/post Xmas high though so a long road ahead before I can even sniff at the pre children clothes, but feels like this is far more sustainable than any diet I've dabbled with before. Miss the convenience of bread or quick pasta dinner, but not craving carbs in the way I used to. Something has definitely changed.

KOKO everyone!

venusandmars · 10/02/2020 08:38

Seemed to be up 2lb when I weighed yesterday morning. Oh well. No scales on holiday so just have to get on with it. Buffet breakfast included eggs, ham, cheese, and none of the thousands of pastries.

Almahart · 10/02/2020 08:42

Just about to do an Ocado order

I’ve got low carb bread and frozen shallots.

What other LC things might I be missing?

Teapotdespot · 10/02/2020 08:54

How low carb is the low carb bread? I’m suspicious Blush

DiscontentedWoman · 10/02/2020 08:56

Pork scratchings/crunch? @Almahart
