Jan '20 - Week 2 Low Carb Bootcamp - How did you do?

We've already seen some fab results, especially from those who started early. We do expect a big variation in the first weigh in. Some of you will have lost several pounds, some a more modest loss. Others won't have lost anything yet either because some healing is needed before weight loss begins in earnest, or because they didn't quite manage to stick to the rules during the first week.

So please check in with us to reflect on how your first week has gone. Try not to compare yourself to others because weight loss is a very individual thing. If you have any concerns about your progress then please do ask. We have had thousands of people through Bootcamp so make use of that collective experience.

Add your weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness or tag the rather wonderful ShagMeRiggins with your weigh-in if you can't access the spreadsheet yourself. If you're only just starting then please tag the very lovely AthelstaneTheUnready to be added to the spreadsheet. And to anybody that suspected they couldn't lose weight while eating lots of lovely food, and without feeling hungry... I hope you enjoyed being proved wrong!

I’ve been a plan of a Friday weigh in on previous boot camps greebols. I know it all evens out in the end but seeing that lower number is good for the motivation.

I like the talk of goals mrsbert, breaking the overall goal down is really helpful. My first mini goal is to get into the 11’s, I’m 1.5lbs away so that’s hopefully doable this week.

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/01/2020 07:56

I'm assuming to get into the 12 stone something. I'm almost into the 13s now, so it could be doable at 1-2 lbs a week. That would be the lowest I've been in 20 years, since before dd1 was conceived! I'm already almost as low as before dd2, which is 10 years ago.

Doilooklikeatourist · 20/01/2020 08:00

My plan is get into the 10s , and lose 5 inches off my waist !
Started at 35 inches , might need to do some tummy crunches
I have a nice belt ( hidden away , although I could do it up this time last year ) will find it and hope to be wearing it again soon

pascalstriangle · 20/01/2020 08:07

Hi everyone. 1st post on this thread although I've been following. 3lbs off for me this week which is fine. I've really enjoyed the food and not felt deprived at all.

I do need to drink more water but am struggling with it being so cold. I saw it recommended that I should drink 4 litres a day. Will this help with weight loss or will 2l have the same effect. If I can accelerate the loss just by drinking water I am sure I could make more effort.

Harveywoo · 20/01/2020 08:11

I’m so excited this is working Crown Shock. Please could you put me down for a 7lb loss @ ShagMeRiggins. I I’d take my slippers off though so could be partly that Grin

Mimosa1 · 20/01/2020 08:15

@teapot I love your dress!

Love this chat about goals, next mini goal is under 78kg, ie pre DC2 weight!

DiscontentedWoman · 20/01/2020 08:20

Morning. 4lb down. Slept well again. Scrambled eggs and mushrooms for breakfast.

Choclips · 20/01/2020 08:41

Morning! Could you add my new lesser number of 196 lbs please @Shagmeriggid t.i.a

Teapotdespot · 20/01/2020 08:44

@Mimosa1 thanks, it’s from my personal tailor George at Asda

Notwatchingtvtoday · 20/01/2020 08:46

Morning, i’m Logging a 4lb loss, was 4.5 lbs but I always just go with the Monday figure. It’s the most I have ever lost in a week so very happy with it.

Also compared to last week my jeans are far more comfortable.

clitteratti I’m so glad you found your keys, yes such a good feeling when you find lost things but a real annoyance when they are lost 😀

B total Greek yogurt, 2 cups of coffee
L left over chilli, Flgv
D roast chicken, bubble and squeak using leftover FLG and some other fresh FLGV

3 litres of water, logged on the waterlogged app

Someone asked if water makes a difference, yes it does, I’ve drunk more this week than normal 3 litres instead of 2 litres and have had a bigger weight loss

Hagbeth i’m Sensitive to dairy so have limited my cream to 3 teaspoons a day. I have seen a difference on the scales by doing this, my tips for if you find this difficult is to use butter in your coffee instead of dairy and also to use coconut milk/cream instead of dairy. Hope that helps

Montybojangles · 20/01/2020 08:49

Morning, well done everyone. 4lb off for me which I'm really pleased about. I've been low carbing for a few months now to help my arthritis, but weight loss had stalled, partly eating more over the holiday period, and partly more prosecco (and less water)! This boot camp was just what i needed to get me back on track and focused again, thank you. Right, off to add it to the spreadsheet...

CheddarGorgeous · 20/01/2020 08:51

1.8lb loss for me which I and really happy about Smile.

I need to up my water this week.

Today:
B - egg mayonnaise with 2 eggs
L - ham salad
D - Mushroom hotpot with green veg

ilovecherries · 20/01/2020 08:59

I’ve lost two pounds, which I’m pleased with as I’ve less than a stone to lose. And despite losing nearly 6 stone on LCHF, I have never lost more than 2lb a week anyway. I always used to find that a bit demotivating when others lost loads, but as stuntnun says, how we lose is an individual thing - and all those 1 and 2 pound loses eventually added up to something massive!

waspfig · 20/01/2020 09:06

5lbs off for me on BC light - very pleased!

This week I will cut back the dairy and take note of fill up signals. As a pp mentioned, they are definitely different on this woe.

Short term goal - get under 12st (2lb to go!)
Medium term goal - get to 11st
Long term goal - get down to healthy bmi which would be under 10st as I'm a shortarse!

waspfig · 20/01/2020 09:08

So today:
B eggs and bacon
L chicken broth and veg
D leftover roast chicken and celeriac dauphinois with FLGV
S if needed - avocado or cucumber

Rshard · 20/01/2020 09:14

I’m a shortarse too waspfig! I got to 9,12 in 2018 which felt good. Any lower and my face would suffer I think - which I’m keen to avoid!

Rayna37 · 20/01/2020 09:17

Some fantastic work here everyone!

Thrilled with a 4lb loss this week to weigh in at 125.2lbs, particularly as this gets me back under 9 stone and leaves just 5lbs to get to target. HOWEVER I am well aware that I started last week from a post-birthday high rather than a standing start and that it could easily take the next 9 weeks to shift the remaining weight, especially as I'm a one for bending the rules more often than I should, so close to where I want to be.

Today's plan:
B: 2 eggs scrambled with butter
snack will be a mini brie portion - I picked up a pack on offer yesterday, delicious but feel guilty about all the excess packaging
L: bought some chicken thigh fillets which I fried in goose fat, using these to make a Caesar salad for a few lunches this week. Caesar dressing (bought but v low carb), spinach, tomato, cucumber and a bit of parmesan. Greek Yogurt.
D: sea bass, FLGV.

Rayna37 · 20/01/2020 09:19

...also part of the shortarse and small frame gang!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/01/2020 09:23

Hey tartan and Optim, you're on the sheet.

Could whoever wants to be on the sheet but has only added the '100' let me know, and I'll add your name?

2lbs off for me, which I'm pleased with as up until yesterday it was 0. Lost 2lbs the week before, so all pysched up for my week 3 stall Grin

StuntNun · 20/01/2020 09:30

Nice one GuyMartin, Pink, Mimosa, Sayrra and Rshard.

It's fine to weigh in on a different day Greebo my lowest weight day of the week was always on a Tuesday so Monday weigh ins irked me when I first joined Bootcamp.

Good work Exitstrategist, Stegasaurusmum and Littlebillie!

A loss is a loss PseudoBadger KOKO and the bigger losses will come.

Fab weight loss MsAwesome but STAY AWAY FROM THE CHOCOLATE. It's only another week and if I can't have any, you can't have any lol! I really wanted some this morning but had some cheese instead. Hmm

Hang in there Teapot it'll just be normal fluctuation. Water retention happens in week 3 which makes all the scale readings off.

Further congratulations to MrsBert, Glittercandle, Tourist, Mrshoho and Lionsleeps.

rodez · 20/01/2020 09:31

No change at all for me this week, hope it is the week 3 curse (as I started 2 Jan) and it will move downwards again at some point. Will try drinking more water and hoping it's not too much dairy as I'm just out of plaster with a broken foot and really am on Drs orders to have lots of calcium. Also don't eat meat, so if I need to lose cheese as well, this goes from a do-able big change in my WOE to a real struggle. I've swopped my possibly too frequent cuppas with normal milk to stealing the kids' lactose free as that seems to be lower carb. Have yoghurt maybe 3x per week. Any suggestions on low carb but high calcium appreciated! Well done to everyone though!

BIWI · 20/01/2020 09:32

Morning all! Great to see some really good losses! I love the first weigh-in because people are always surprised they've lost after all the lovely food they've been eating.

Re water : READ THE RULES! Rule 6 has a table that shows how much you need to be drinking. The more you weigh, the more you need to drink.

BIWI · 20/01/2020 09:37

Sources of calcium

Obviously not all these are low carb but hope this helps.

truelove · 20/01/2020 09:38

2.8lbs off for me so now 153lbs (was 155.8lbs) if @shagmeriggins would mind doing the honours on the SoF please Smile
Was 4.8lbs off at the weekend but I’m happy to take my Monday weight. Weight loss isn’t linear so as long as the general trend is down, I’m happy. 6lbs to get to target.

SilverSnowCake · 20/01/2020 09:51

Good morning all.

I'd like to thank everyone for their meal/recipe ideas. And clitterati, you've definitely prompted me to get a second car key cut. My spare one has been missing for 3 years! Glad you found yours.

So, I fell SPECTACULARLY off the wagon the past three days. The following involves viewer discretion. Skip to last sentence if you don't want to read about things one should not consume.

(Gin. Raki. Chocolate covered peanuts. Clotted cream fudge. Quite a bit)

Snacked too much i.e. too much pork crackling/chorizo instead of set meals involving vegetables. Kept up 4l + water Fri/Sat, but not Sun.

4lb down and family are noticing. My face is slimming down already as well as abdomen area.

Well done everyone.
