Week 3 - October Low Carb Bootcamp - the fork in the road

Welcome!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to confess all.

So we enter the infamous week 3. Along with week 4, these are the two weeks where you are very likely to see weight loss slow or stop altogether.

Don't panic!

This is entirely normal.

But, from now on, you can also decide if you want to continue with the strict approach of Bootcamp, or if you want to take a slightly more relaxed approach - Bootcamp Light. This means that you can incorporate some nuts/seeds, and some fruits - mainly berries. Alcohol can be introduced - moderately, and only those which are low carb.

Some people choose to stay on Bootcamp, others choose to do a hybrid, so Bootcamp during the week, and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

The choice is yours - just keep a close eye on the scales/your measurements - or however you're choosing to monitor your progress.

8Track · 31/10/2019 07:54

Happy birthday Nonono ! Sounds like a fabulous day - enjoy!

Rshard · 31/10/2019 08:44

Happy birthday 🥳 nonono!!

I think duck breasts would go nicely with your leftover dauphinois 8track

BIWitch · 31/10/2019 09:05

Happy birthday @Nonononon! What are you going to see? DH and I had a trip to the cinema to see Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon on Tuesday and it was fantastic Grin

Thanks @ChippingInLovesAutumnLeaves (and everyone else!) - yes, daft to feel bad about the name change poll. But obviously others were taking it rather too seriously. I haven't won in the end, so all's well that ends well Smile

@8Track definitely duck with swede dauphinoise, and broccoli to go with it. I'd roast it in the oven with some shallots and/or some chilli flakes, squeeze of lemon on the top when you serve it.

@IWillWearTheGreenWillow

B: 2 cold sausages with broccoli and mayo. Coffee with cream
L: 1-egg mayo in lettuce boats, 1 stick of celery with pate. Decaff with cream
S: 2 slices cheese
D: baked salmon with buttered broccoli and sprouts
S: about 30g home-roasted, salted pumpkin seeds
2l water, 0.5l herbal tea (1 with a splash of FF milk. It was rooibos, before you tell me I'm drinking it wrong)

I wouldn't dream of telling you you're drinking your tea wrong Grin

If I were you I'd look to cut out the snacks - and up your fat content at meal times - if you're still needing to snack twice a day this suggests that you're getting hungry, which you shouldn't be at this stage. The protein you're eating - sausages and salmon - may not be very high in fat, and even if you're frying the sausages (you are, aren't you?) they won't necessary take on much fat, especially if you're eating them cold.

Another thing to consider is the dairy - you're eating cheese, using milk and also cream - although it doesn't sound from your post like it's a lot, it's something to consider dropping for a few days if you can. See if that makes a difference.

And I'd probably drink more WATER, WATER, WATER!

Happy birthday nonononon

I'm off to an event at a lovely castle, followed by a cuppa and a chat with my friend who lives nearby.

Brunch - left over mushroom and blue cheese pie with salad, butter coffee
D - Chinese spiced duck breast with stir fry veg and broccoli

AthelstaneTheWhoooOOOooo · 31/10/2019 09:34

Happy Birthday Nonononon! Flowers

Today's plan:

B: (too late, boat has sailed)
L: will get some yoghurt and an avocado
D: rest of the roast chicken, with broccoli, leeks, and garlic in butter.

KondoKonvert · 31/10/2019 09:44

Happy birthday @Nonononon Thanks

NSV for me: have bagged up a pair of jeans that are too big to wear and I'll pop them into a charity shop. They were tight on me in August!

TheGhostofRaynaJaymes · 31/10/2019 09:57

8Track I'd go for pork loin and broccoli. Would work with duck too but that's nice enough to stand alone with more boring veg!

LittleSwede · 31/10/2019 10:36

Happy birthday Nononon!

So day 8 for me, have lost 2,2 kilos. Approximately 4 pound I think? Had some troubles with loose bowl movements this morning (sorry if TMI) I think it's the coffee with coconut oil on an empty stomach Blush

As a result I couldn't face my usual omelette breakfast so had small bowl of Greek yogurt and then a bit if cold pork loin (left from yesterday) an hour or so later.

Lunch - omelette or tuna mayo with some salad.

Dinner - cheesy courgette bake

And lots of water!

LittleSwede · 31/10/2019 10:37

Apologies for typos, meant bowel not bowl...

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 31/10/2019 12:21

Happy birthday @Nono, have a great day Halloween Smile

Payday tomorrow, making a shopping list from the recipe threads. Totally omletted out!

SittingontheSidelines · 31/10/2019 12:55

Brilliant pumpkins, the mermaid has stolen my heart

@8Track d happily eat it with all or any of those, helpful I knowGrin

Happy Birthday @Nonononon

Happy Halloween all, only and no treats remember

As for me I'm getting hungry, I think it's the cold, so I'm upping my fat.

SittingontheSidelines · 31/10/2019 12:56

Only tricks that should say.

Nonononon · 31/10/2019 13:31

Aww thanks for all the birthday wishes!!

Just had lunch and it was AMAZING!
Felt very indulgent but also healthy!
Twas: bag of mixed pea shoots, half an avocado, some asparagus, bacon, walnuts, parmesan shavings and a fried egg on top!
I also had a creamy coffee.. I bought extra thick cream by mistake (not really a mistake but meant to buy double cream) and I just had to have a spoon full from the top of the pot before I added any to my coffee BlushHalloween Grin
So yes, very very rich and lovely and I don't feel a bit guilty! (Although very full..) I bought a pack of antipasto to take to the cinema with me tonight and that will be me done for the day I'd imagine.

8Track · 31/10/2019 16:14

Thanks for all the thoughts lovelies!! Manic day at work (mentally exhausting but good for development and all that jazz), so delighted you have taken the mental load for me. Duck, broccoli and dauphinoise it is. I'm going to have creamy mustard mushroom sauce with the pork, maybe tomorrow.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 31/10/2019 16:53

Thanks, @BIWitch - I've had to drop the snacks today, it has been absolutely manic and I haven't stopped long enough to eat any! In fact, I held one meeting an hour early, I was so busy just ploughing through the to do list!

2l water already today, aiming for 3 by bedtime.

Happy birthday Nonononon (possibly too many syllables there?)!

ShagMeRiggins · 31/10/2019 17:03

Had clients in today. Always gives me a charge (love my job), but even though home-based, I never get enough water.

I shall be glugging loads while avoiding all sweets when dishing out to the trick-or-treaters tonight. I’ll even have my red wig and witch’s hat on. Halloween Wink

Tonight is ribeye with bleu cheese sauce (so bloody simple), with fried broccoli and leeks.

WAAAAATTTTTEEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!

SittingontheSidelines · 31/10/2019 18:07

A picture of my lunch. Fried leftovers with fried eggs. Might not look beautiful but was lovely and very filling.
Dinner is steak and roasted veg.

TheGhostofRaynaJaymes · 31/10/2019 19:25

You can tell it's both autumnal and nearly the weekend by the amount of fabulous Thursday night dinners we have going on!

I've had ox cheek stew (cooked and frozen before bootcamp) with kale and my first glass of red since before we started. Lovely.

B: cheese crusted mushroom omelette
Snack of nuts
L: tuna mayo salad; yogurt with cream
D: as above
Plenty of water, two hot drinks with milk and one coffee with cream.

prettybird · 31/10/2019 19:36

Happy birthday nonononon Thanks

I've made chilli tonight but took out a portion of the mince base before I put the kidney beans in. I'll have mine on a base of buttery (frozen) spinach.

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 31/10/2019 20:39

Oops. Have clanged on the dairy.

Got home to find DH had baked a camembert and sliced chorizo to dip in it. So I ate my share.

I never want to see cheese ever again at this point, and will have no trouble giving it up for a few days!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/10/2019 21:10

I've just had a delicious dinner. Venison burger topped with melted blue cheese and crispy bacon, served on a bed of buttered spinach with sides of fried asparagus and padron peppers. 😋

twinkledag · 31/10/2019 21:12

I'm sorry, I do this every time. I start well then I'm crap and go off the rails.

I'm going to start again tomorrow but I'm gonna track properly as I need it to be accountable!

SittingontheSidelines · 31/10/2019 21:38

I'm sure you'll do brilliantly tomorrow @twinkledag

twinkledag · 31/10/2019 21:49

I'm rubbish and need a beating with the big stick!
