Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

I'm posting this for accountability and precisely because I don't want to post Confused

I was up 1.5lb this morning Sad - partly due to lack of water yesterday (which I can tell because my rings are harder to get on and off) and probably also due to rather too many snacks yesterday Blush ( some too many peanuts, some a few squares of dark chocolate Blush). I'm not wanting scrambled eggs but can't bring myself to make more boiled eggs (which I do like to snack on) while I have 8 egg yolks staring at me accusingly in the fridge Hmm

There, I've admitted it Grin

venusandmars · 31/07/2019 12:22

A friend had arranged for us to go out for afternoon tea yesterday (birthday treat). I wasn't looking forward to it and wondering how little I could eat. When I got there I discovered that while she tucked into sandwiches, scones, jam, cakes etc, she had arranged for me to be served with mini sausages, cold meat, cheese, nuts, olives. What a star Star Smile

venusandmars · 31/07/2019 12:29

@prettybird well done for posting. It's hard when you only want the numbers to go down. I'm trying to move away from weighing every day and accepting a small fluctuation up AND down... but it's not easy.

I think you can freeze egg yolks if you beat them with a small amount of salt (or sugar!) first. You could make them into 8 portions and add them one at a time to recipes so it doesn't feel as overwhelming.

ShagMeRiggins · 31/07/2019 19:44

Big ‘Hi’ to everyone else & appropriate congratulations, sticks, drooling as appropriate!

We know who we are, Chipping! Grin

NigellaAwesome · 31/07/2019 20:15

Just back from hols and have spent the entire afternoon cleaning up after the painters who were here when we were away. Scales beckon tomorrow.

Have been keeping up with the thread, just haven't posted much.

MrsBertBibby · 31/07/2019 20:23

My week off gave me a gain of 6 1/2 pounds when I weighed on Monday! 12st 10 1/2. This morning, most of them had gone, back to 2 1/2 pounds above our final official weigh in. Phew!

Onwards and downwards.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 01/08/2019 08:38

Morning all, I have definitely relaxed slightl, but keeping very loosely to bc light, I seem to be staying the same.

This is both good and bad, good that small changes can see weight loss, bad that small changes can bring weight gain 😀. Some of the non losses have come from extra cream, extra nuts, M&S pre prepped meats etc
Interestingly like others have said, no interest in adding in carbs via pasta, bread etc

So I think it’s a case of KOKO and water, water,water .....

NigellaAwesome · 01/08/2019 08:43

Weighed myself this morning after my hols - another 0.4kg off which I'm pleased with. That is 15.6kg off altogether which is almost 15% of my starting body weight. Another 1.8kg to go to my next mini goal of 85kg, but I would ideally like to get to around 80kg.

@Athelstane, I think the formulae in columns AV to AX might be a bit off if you wouldn't mind having a look?

I think this has been one of the wittiest bootcamps there has been, I've really enjoyed it.

BIWI have pm'd you about the style meet up.

Notlostjustexploring · 01/08/2019 09:01

The chat definitely has been top notch.

I had my low carb chat with the nurse at the doctor's surgery and been given some reading. The instructions overlap with bootcamp a lot. A lot a lot. The only things missing are the reminders for water and a big stick!

It's basically a traffic light system. Green for veg, butter, meats, eggs, dairy. Amber for fruit and pulses, sweeteners. Red for the obvious. Never in all my born days did I expect to be told by HCP to eat more butter! Also a massive emphasis on "real food".

Although two serious downsides to my appointment. My waist was measured round my belly button not my slimmest point, so that measurement went up, and because it was literally just after lunch my weight was about 8lbs higher than my just peed and stripped weight first thing in the morning. Keeping my eye on the big picture and a few pounds here or there is not the point when I need to lose stones.

One upside. My cholesterol is fantastic.

Prettybird you eaten those eggs yet?

And Venus, where was that afternoon tea??

Rshard · 01/08/2019 09:08

I’ve also been reading but not posting have been out and about now it’s the school holidays - seem to have more time to contribute when I’m at work!

I’m glad people are still hanging around and koko.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 01/08/2019 09:28

Ooh, 10'8 this morning! I like these new scales!! Grin

prettybird · 01/08/2019 10:40

Notlost - I made a rich carbonara last night (my courgetti portion was made using home grown courgettes Smile) and there are now only 3.5 yolks left Grin

YesQueen · 01/08/2019 11:56

B - 2 x eggs and mayo
No lunch yet
Tea - chicken in tomato with mozzarella and probably cabbage and leeks with butter. Or roasted kale obsessed

SittingontheSidelines · 01/08/2019 12:11

I'm way behind on the thread but wanted to say fantastic friend @venusandmars. Good support makes it all so much easier.

SittingontheSidelines · 01/08/2019 12:17

Oh, caught up quicker than expected. This heat is doing wonders for curbing my appetite. I'm sixteen eight with no problems. Very light lunch and mostly some kind of salad for dinner. What I do eat I am really enjoying in a way I never do when I stuff myself with carbs.

I'm nearly into a new dress on my dress scale today. It was the first day of the month, so measuring day, and I thought I'd have a trying on session. I don't have many dresses (self-employed, work from home, have horses and sheep = lives in jeans and a fleece!) and most of them are pretty ancient, but of the ones that aren't beach maxi dresses, the scale goes like this, from largest to smallest:

Size 12 Hobbs red skater-style dress - fits
Size 12 black shift dress from TK Maxx (this one is a good 20 years old!) - fits
Size 12 blue spotty strappy Dorothy Perkins skater dress (same age as above) - fits
Size 12 Warehouse navy dress with buttercups on - could now just about sit down in without risking splitting a seam
Size 10 Wallis skater dress with oranges and lemons on - this is the one that's nearly there, the zip would probably do up all the way but there's one spot where it's very tight and I don't want to risk bursting it.
Size 2 Jigsaw (I think this equates to a small 10) red shift dress - doesn't zip up further than the waist, but at least I can get into it to try the zip now!

Grimbles · 01/08/2019 16:19

I've dug out my size 14 jeans which i can now squeeze into without looking too ridiculous. It's a good incentive to koko so they become less uncomfortable Grin

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/08/2019 08:29

Breakfast. I do love this WOE.

Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!
Notwatchingtvtoday · 02/08/2019 08:43

Morning all
Notlostjustexploring that’s so encouraging re your doctors visit.
And verylittleowl so encouraging re your dresses, I do understand what you mean re clothes, when your at home and out dog walking etc, I’ve tried to change my clothes buying into mainly casual for at home, as I realised that I was actually spending on clothes that were hardly ever worn and living in the same jeans/trousers and tops. It has helped to give me a bit of a lift, so I can recommend it. I’ve been able to do some sale shopping, in between work this week and have been pleasantly surprised that it has all fitted.

I seem to be staying the same weight wise, which I am quite happy with as I am working quite hard at the moment. My job is busiest in the summer hols, but it is very rewarding and good for me to be busy.

I’m sticking to bc light but have allowed the odd extras

I’ve also really enjoyed the humour on here, so thanks to all.

Almahart · 02/08/2019 08:57

Am being quite BC light - definitely too much wine which I will knock on the head. Have been out quite a lot recently and have spent a lot of often cheap and nasty white wine.

I ‘treated’ myself to a banana the other day with my breakfast yoghurt and was starving by lunchtime. I felt sort of unsatisfied all day. I really think this time this woe might be for life

Sort of NSV - wore some favourite clothes yesterday and realised that they are actually a bit big now which is great, but I felt a bit mixed as I love them!!

SittingontheSidelines · 02/08/2019 11:25

Thinking of going stricter as not seeing a lot of movement. Has anyone tried the blood sugar diet?

YesQueen · 02/08/2019 13:10

I never really liked cabbage before but I got one of those bags of sliced leeks and cabbage. Fried it in some butter and then shoved a lid on to finish cooking. Might be my new favourite veg GrinGrin

Notlostjustexploring · 02/08/2019 14:15

Almahart if you have some favourites you could always look at getting them tailored to fit?

YesQueen · 03/08/2019 00:58

Is this ok to have? Not every day but if I have pork I weirdly like a chutney or sauce to dip!
