Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Sainsbury's delivery arrived!
Vague meal plan of

Breakfast - egg mayo, yoghurt and raspberries or whatever I find in the fridge

Lunches - chicken or feta salad as usual

Tea
Taco spice mince on iceberg with sour cream and cheese
Courgetti carbonara
Chicken with herbs and creamy lemon cabbage and leek
Chicken with cauliflower mash

Disclaimer my cooking is not very measured, more a throw it in and hope it works... no actual recipes used Grin

princessbear80 · 10/09/2019 06:37

yesqueen I have the same approach to cooking! I might try your Taco spice mince on iceberg with sour cream and cheese idea, sounds nice.

VeryLittleOwl · 10/09/2019 06:53

Rayna - Cheddar! Genius! Will try it later :)

Venus - good thought, but I'm not a fan of pork crackling and my nearest M&S is 110 miles away.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 10/09/2019 08:14

I'm down to 10 stone!!!

ShockShockShockShockShockShock

I think the last time I weighed this little I was 14!

Sorry if it seems like I'm boasting, I just really can't believe it! That's a total loss of 2 stone 10lb since May.

For those of you just starting please take me as proof that it really does work if you follow the rules!!!

Mimosa1 · 10/09/2019 08:45

Congratulations @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal ! I'm hovering above the low 80s. Want to get into the 70s which will be my motivation for not drinking at tonight's work party...

princessbear80 · 10/09/2019 11:32

Well done GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal! That’s a great result. I’m hoping I can lose about the same.

1Wildheartsease · 10/09/2019 12:45

Well done Greebols - this isn't boasting, it is inspiring.

We hear so much about how hopeless it is to try and lose weight. Stories like yours are needed to counter defeatism :)

Rayna37 · 10/09/2019 14:10

That's fabulous Greebo

Post long weekend weigh in (after a few very sloppy weeks) of 127.6 lbs so back to over half a stone over target and feeling uncomfortable. Full bootcamp planned for a couple of weeks give or take and then strict BC light until back under control.

B: 2 scrambled eggs with butter
snack of cubed emmental in place of usual nuts
L: salmon and mayo on salad of spinach, tomato and cucumber; greek yogurt
D: plan is pork chops, left over cauli cheese and something green.

SittingontheSidelines · 10/09/2019 17:44

@VeryLittleOwl I do a couple of single egg omelettes, so thin they're like crepes, let them go cold, spread with butter and marmite (and lettuce and cucumber sometimes)roll into a wrap and eat. I think they are delicious.

Well done @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal, fantastic loss.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 10/09/2019 18:10

Hey, stupid question but I'll having chicken legs in cider and bacon plus lots of veg for dinner. Would it be excessive to have two chicken legs? There's not loads of meat on them

YesQueen · 10/09/2019 18:25

I've been a carby idiot Blush let's not talk about it. I went faint at hospital, ate, it wasn't worth it
I already had an upset stomach and now it hates me with a vengeance
I have no idea what to eat - usually if I felt like this it would be toast. Any ideas? I'm tempted not to eat tonight and see if it helps

MonsteraCheeseplant · 10/09/2019 18:28

I might be strange but something like cucumber or celery is what I'd have in your scenario. They're both "safe" and plain like toast.

VeryLittleOwl · 10/09/2019 20:26

Greebo - Amazing!

Sitting - Thank you, will try that. Had 3 slices of cheddar with butter and Marmite on today and they really hit the spot, but had forgotten how salty it is!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 10/09/2019 20:40

I didn't need the second chicken leg by the way. Like last time on bootcamp, i'm more worried about being hungry, than actually being hungry...

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/09/2019 09:46

It's funny how your tastes change on this WOE isn't it? I thoroughly enjoy my plain Greek yogurt for breakfast now. When I first started I found it horribly sour.

And I don't miss the things I thought I would. I sort of miss bread - but only really good bread. Not eating generic sliced loaves doesn't bother me at all. Before this I would have said pasta was my favourite food, but I hardly ever think about it.

venusandmars · 11/09/2019 12:08

My eating habits have changed too. I never thought I'd manage without breakfast, but I find I/F surprisingly easy.

I thought I really missed crisps, but I recently had 3 and found them greasy and strange tasting. Didn't want any more, would rather have some crispy bacon or microwaved cheese.

YesQueen · 11/09/2019 14:57

Courgette "carbonara" for lunch

Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!
MrsTerryPratchett · 11/09/2019 15:34

Just general embarrassment having your hips ogled? It was the assumption that she was judging my flab @ShagMeRiggins but no!

Well done @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal it is definitely inspiring rather than bragging!

It is weird how your eating and attitude changes. I was pondering whether to come off the WOE until the next bootcamp. A friend of mine got a bit shouty with me on the weekend about how he does keto for cutting before fights (martial arts) but he would not do it long term because it's so unhealthy. I was a bit worried and thought maybe I'd come off for a month.

Then I thought... bollocks. My heart rate is great, blood pressure too, I've lost weight and if I came off for a month I'd maintain weight eating sad, dry food or gain eating a flood of bread and pasta. They have to deal with keto flu in October. Sugar, bread and pasta are dangerous for me. I don't have an off switch for them.

venusandmars · 11/09/2019 16:07

I can't see how it's unhealthy to eat load of salads, green veg etc. and to not eat refined flour or sugar, or products high in starch.

I'm mostly on maintenance and I have some carbs about once a week - things like beans, lentils, chickpeas. I love this way of eating, have come off all my Blood pressure meds., and feel healthy and strong.

I get that if you're on an extreme keto diet with very few carbs, and lots of processed meats then it's not so good, but boot camp has carbs from veg - cauliflower, spinach, kale, mushrooms, broccoli, a small amount of tomato (and maybe a few berries) - what a delight :)

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/09/2019 17:28

"A friend of mine got a bit shouty with me on the weekend about how he does keto for cutting before fights (martial arts) but he would not do it long term because it's so unhealthy."

My mum had been googling, and started nagging me about this, saying she'd heard it was really unhealthy (which, from a woman who survives on chocolate and coffee, was somewhat hypocritical!). I listed everything I ate in a typical day - plain yoghurt, eggs, cheese, fish, fresh meat, spinach, asparagus, avocado, loads of water - and asked to tell me if any of it sounded remotely unhealthy. She was stumped, and had to admit it sounded a lot healthier than most people's diets.

colouringinpro · 11/09/2019 18:22

help please! period due any sec and I've MASSIVE carb cravings! bowl of cereal, cake biscuits, chocolate, ice cream or all of them!!!

colouringinpro · 11/09/2019 18:23

YesQueen that looks yummy! what's in the sauce?

YesQueen · 11/09/2019 18:28

@colouringinpro
Fry pancetta until crispy (can add garlic), add courgette noodles and cook briefly, add a few spoons of creme fraiche and some cheese (cheddar or Parmesan works well) stir until sauce forms
Added black pepper and shaved Parmesan on top

ShagMeRiggins · 11/09/2019 18:53

Some of the food over the last few days is making me drool. This has been one of the most tenacious between Bootcamp threads that I remember in a while and I’m delighted.

Erm... @BIWI can you start another one from your Barbados lounger?

colouringinpro · 11/09/2019 19:53

oooh thanks. might do that tonight
