Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - at last the finishing line!

Isn't 10 weeks a long time!

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here one last time

Although this is the last official weigh-in, this thread will stay up for general chat/support until the next Bootcamp - probably in October.

I hope everyone has a good 'final' result.

Every Bootcamp is different, but this one has, I have to say, been remarkably well behaved Grin. I've lost the Big Stick somewhere in the back of a cupboard!

While I know you're all here and reading because I know people don't read all the posts if you want to take the opportunity to meet @ShagMeRiggins (and me) for a lighthearted Bootcamp style & beauty event probably with gin thrown in for good measure send me a PM!

Thank you BIWI good advice. I am starting from now. Fingers crossed.

YesQueen · 08/09/2019 11:04

If it helps, I once held the same weight for a record of FIVE WEEKS GrinHmm
Then I got on the scales and dropped 5lbs
I weigh daily and use weight diary which puts it all into a graph and works out how much I'm losing a week, as you can see it definitely isn't linear
The blue is the daily weight, the yellow line is the trend

Thank you BIWI good advice. I am starting from now. Fingers crossed

Ditto! Have put the 10 rules up on the fridge

Thanks @YesQueen , guess I'm kind of conditioned to think weight loss should be a steady 2lbs a week or something.

YesQueen · 08/09/2019 12:04

Honestly after 5 weeks I was shaking the scales, jumping on and off them, prodding them Grin

Another week and then I'm off to stay (with relations) in Greece for a fortnight. There is a wedding -there will be much eating out and I expect that it is still a bit hot for my usual exercise.

I'm going to try to stick to LC where I can and drink moderately (!) but won't have total control of the menus. Being diplomatic is likely to mean eating things I don't want!

It is a worry! What is the worst -re-weight-gain anyone has had in two weeks holidaying?

BIWI · 08/09/2019 17:07

I believe the average woman (if there is such a thing!) gains 7lbs on holiday. Assuming that means the typical fortnight's holiday, but not sure.

One thing you need to know, though, is from a low carb perspective, most of the weight gain is likely to be from re-filling your glycogen stores. So when you can, be super strict. Drink lots of water and - if feasible - up your exercise. You should find that any weight gain does go relatively swiftly when you're back.

Thank-you BIWI - I will do those things whenever possible.

Thanks to advice on the Style and beauty thread (not usually my home ground) I now have swimwear. Perhaps swimming will be possible.

(The thought of 7lb isn't so bad. In my head I have this fear that the bubble of weight-loss will explode and I'll come home carrying the whole extra 47lb again!)

BIWI · 08/09/2019 18:03

But ultimately @1Wildheartsease - don't forget you're on holiday! Choose yummy things to eat, avoiding the carbs where possible, but don't deprive yourself (just don't use that as an excuse Smile)

I’m on day 12 (I think) and my appetite has definitely shrunk. I used to think about food constantly and always wanted whatever treats I laid my eyes on. I’ve quite easily resisted cake today and yesterday when friends/family were indulging. Food today was a big fry up for brunch and an omelette for dinner. Not enough water though. Must drink more!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 09/09/2019 08:12

Hi just popped on to wish BIWI a very happy birthday and holiday

Mimosa1 · 09/09/2019 08:37

I need to draw a line under the food and drink from yesterday - no one needs bottomless brunch on a Sunday afternoon.
Onwards...

princessbear80 · 09/09/2019 09:17

Anyone else do a weekly weigh in on a Monday? I lost 1 lb this week.

Rayna37 · 09/09/2019 11:43

Heading home after a weekend in the lakes and it's strict bootcamp starting for me. Did my last race of the season year? in stunning scenery, only 10k but super hilly and managed to have a double chin in all the photos! Was creeping up but now easily half a stone over target, could be as much as 10lbs over after 3 days away: will weigh in the morning and do a good shop tonight. Key will be a blanket ban on all biscuits & cake (bloody office) and no "I'll just have a slice of wholemeal toast with almond butter" in between all my perfect LCHF meals!! I also need to be stricter when I eat out.

venusandmars · 09/09/2019 12:44

Made snacks for a family buffet yesterday: savoury pizza bombs and coconut Peanut bites.
Pizza bombs are cream cheese, chopped pepperoni, olives and basil.
Bites are peanut butter, raw cocoa powder, almond flour, rolled in coconut.

Any tips for quick warm lunches? I'm cold and I've eaten enough salads....

Rayna37 · 09/09/2019 16:19

Colouringinpro

EGGS EGGS EGGS

omelette, scrambled, bacon and eggs...

I really went off cold food when I was pregnant and much prefer a hot lunch but put up with salad at work unless I have some suitable leftovers I can microwave.

Extra portions of dinner reheated can be good too.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/09/2019 17:17

They look amazing @venusandmars, is a recipe? Or can you at least tell me amounts and what you did?

Does anyone have any Low-Carb soup recipes? I feel like that would be a good option on cold days, but was amazed by how high in carbs most tinned soups are.

venusandmars · 09/09/2019 19:09

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I often make left over dinner into soup: veg curry and coconut milk (blitz); broccoli and blue cheese (blitz); courgette, tomato, mozzarella (blitz) … you get the idea!

For the pizza bombs: 100g cream cheese, 100g chopped pepperoni, 12 chopped olives, tablespoon chopped fresh basil. Mix.
Then put a slice of pepperoni, add a ball of the pizza mix, top with a basil leaf and a slice of olive.

For the nut bombs: 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 2 teaspoons of almond flour or coconut flour, 3 teaspoons raw cocoa powder. Mix and roll into balls. Roll in coconut shreds.

Lovely autumnal celeriac corned beef hash - really recommend! Back on it and determined to stay until I see 10 stone. Have developed a taste for outdoor swimming and lost my taste for booze. Am sure they’re related

MonsteraCheeseplant · 09/09/2019 20:33

I can highly recommend the Creamy Spinach soup recipe on the veggie recipe thread - absolutely delicious!

VeryLittleOwl · 09/09/2019 21:24

I haven't eaten bread for about six months, but still had a sudden unexpected craving for Marmite on toast this evening. Fortunately no wholemeal in the house and the nearest open shop is a 52-mile round trip. Any suggestions for a low-carb Marmite fix? I was thinking about mixing it with some softened butter in the ratio I'd normally spread butter and Marmite and then just eating it on its own with a teaspoon.

Almahart · 09/09/2019 21:42

Marmite is tricky isn’t it. Celery?

Almahart · 09/09/2019 21:44

Actually I don’t think they would go

Rayna37 · 09/09/2019 22:03

Verylittleowl my husband spreads butter and marmite onto slices of cheddar and also spreads it on cheese omelettes!

venusandmars · 09/09/2019 22:14

verylitttleowl have you tried M&S pork crackling? There are some here spread with butter and marmite, would be fab...
