BIWI · 17/06/2019 07:56

Morning all!

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So now we've completed the first half of Bootcamp. Some trials and tribulations along the way, but hopefully you've all settled into the swing of things and it's becoming easier and more like second nature.

Just a reminder - if you haven't already - to check out the recipe threads, which are all stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic. Some really nice ideas there to inspire you.

And also, just in case you haven't seen this thread here's one which is about good low carb products that people have come across

If you post on that thread - and please do! - please post a photo of the front of the pack and also the nutritional info on the back of the pack.

@venusandmars thank you for that post. And congratulations on completing your ration challenge.

I can't find the onion bhaji recipe either. I went to the idiot diet website but the one I found had flour etc in it. C

Rayna37 · 22/06/2019 07:45

I've just posted the onion bharjia recipe in the vegetarian recipe thread. You'll need to click on the photo to get the full details. Enjoy!

I recommend getting a copy of both the IDiot Proof Diet and the IPD cookbook as you can pick them up used from Amazon from just over £2 each inc shipping.

SittingontheSidelines · 22/06/2019 09:16

Thanks @Rayna37

Notwatchingtvtoday · 22/06/2019 09:58

Morning all and thanks for your post venusandmars well done for doing it, it raises both awareness and money.

Another 1 lb off today, I’ve been really strick with myself and the only times I feel like I could be being naughty is with a couple of teaspoons of Marsacapone in the afternoon between lunch and dinner.

I’ve got friends over for dinner tonight, so they will be having Bootcamp food with a side helping of carbs 😀

B coffee and butter
Total Greek yogurt, Tsp Linwoods mix and 2 frozen raspberries crumbled over top
L Frittata and salad
D something with chicken, FLGV and Celaric mash or cauliflower rice

Rayna37 · 22/06/2019 10:13

Decent parkrun this morning and super pleased with myself for doing some YouTube yoga last night. I did a couple of classes on holiday and promised myself I'd try to do it at home as there's really no excuse (e.g. can do after DS is in bed even if DH isn't there, unlike getting to a class) and I do really enjoy it.
Less pleased with an unexplained lb gain today after the holiday weight was steadily falling back off.

Almahart · 22/06/2019 10:25

I’ve decided I’m going to knock booze on the head until I’ve dropped two pounds and kept them off reliably for a week or so.

Am also going to start posting here for accountability
So - breakfast was a two ehh mushroom and feta omelette
I think dinner will be some sort of bbq as lovely weather finally. Lunch possibly something else egg based

MrsBertBibby · 22/06/2019 11:07

Another half pound down today! That alternating with water trick worked well.

Pleased with that.

1Wildheartsease · 22/06/2019 11:49

Thank-you Rayna37 - I have the cookbook too but just couldn't see the recipe last night. Yum :)

Both books are great for ideas (though they are quite keen on dairy).

MumbleLumble · 22/06/2019 14:03

B nothing
L omelette with ham, mushroom and cheese
D mince with tin of tomatoes, garlic, spinach, courgette, mozzarella on cabbage.

Well done venusandmars on your completing your challenge.

SittingontheSidelines · 22/06/2019 15:18

Had to take lunch with me today so did the crepes, let them cool and added butter and marmite then rolled. They were delicious and the strong marmite flavour lessened the eggy flavour and made them taste more pancake like. Definitely worth a try for anyone missing a vehicle for marmite.

BIWI · 22/06/2019 17:34

Have you not discovered Marmite cheese?!

OP posts:
BIWI · 22/06/2019 17:36

here. It also comes in blocks I think

MumbleLumble · 22/06/2019 17:44

Marmite cheese is basically my favourite food. I have to really stop myself eating the whole packet though. Its hard to get hold of too luckily.

SittingontheSidelines · 22/06/2019 18:22

That's like the answer to a prayer @BIWIHalo I shall be in Tesco at the crack of 10am tomorrow and return to explode some in my microwave (they'd better not have gone walk about with the blasted celeriac).

starsky22 · 22/06/2019 18:47

Great post venusandmars I have a friend who lost weight very successfully doing a low fat diet, we agreed at the time that you can either have carbs or fat, not both and if you cut one out and stick to it, you can lose weight. The problem with a low fat diet is I know I can't stick to it, it just gets boring and so restrictive, particularly when eating out - you can have carbs, but not chips or roast potatoes because they are cooked in oil, not mash because it full of butter, not pasta if it has a creamy sauce, you're left with a plain jacket potato, not exactly appealing when you are paying for a meal out! Would much rather have pork belly and a pile of veg!

The problem I have is that I cannot do eating in moderation, I am all or nothing. Strict low carb works, but if I start deviating, it's a slippery slope.

I've been very strict all week and the weight is coming off, but I relaxed a bit today as we had friends round for a bbq, nothing really bad, but have probably eaten a bit too much and now I am worried that I'll have put some of the weight back on.
So far today I have had:
B iced almond milk latte & fried paneer cubes
L cucumber sticks with yoghurt & feta dip
BBQ'd teriyaki chicken, minted lamb steak, lamb kofta, 1 chipolata, feta & cucumber salad & grilled asparagus
1 crisp, 2 miniscule new potatoes coated in butter
dark chocolate pot with creme fraiche & 1 strawberry
No alcohol, drank lots of water instead.

Gosh, that's a lot of food when it's all written down! I'm hoping I won't need dinner, but there are leftovers, that I am very tempted to eat. Including 2 chocolate pots, that DH doesn't like, so it's only me that will eat them.

VeryLittleOwl · 23/06/2019 07:49

Morning everyone :) I swerved the day trip on Thursday, ignored the rows and rows of cream-filled things and doughnuts at the bakery when I collected the golfers' lunches on Friday, resisted the glorious smell of salt and vinegar at the chip shop and shut my eyes to the burger specials when we had a quick lunch out yesterday in favour of my usual chicken ceasar, no croutons. Then last night we went out for DH's recovery meal and, as planned, I had a really fabulous pizza :) Left the crusts, really enjoyed it, up 2lbs this morning, but absolutely confident that I'll be happily back on the low-carb journey from today. All DH's leftover sugar-boosting treats from Friday are sitting on the side in the kitchen (chocolate, jelly babies, Tunnock's caramel wafers) and I'm not in the slightest bit interested in eating any of it.

MumbleLumble · 23/06/2019 09:08

Well done verylittleowl. Its always so much harder when you've got things there to tempt you. I hope you enjoyed your pizza! I had my pizza Wednesday night, the weight gain didn't show until Friday morning but this morning I've finally got rid of all my pizza weight plus a bit more.

Rshard · 23/06/2019 09:09

Morning all

Really interesting to read about your experience venus, well done on undertaking he challenge!

Nice one swerving the goodies littleowl, nice isn’t it to not be tempted.

I’m a terrible sleeper, but this weekend I’ve slept like the proverbial baby - until 9 yesterday and set my alarm for 8 as I had to collect dd. I still wake in the night but I’m straight back to sleep whereas would normally lie awake. Another bonus of this woe. I’m not losing much weight but I’ll take a good sleep!

MumbleLumble · 23/06/2019 09:10

I've woken up feeling very sick this morning. All I want is a cup of tea with sugar and some toast. Sad I won't of course but its what I always normally have when I feel under the weather.

SittingontheSidelines · 23/06/2019 09:22

Just found myself completely caught up in a "what's your favourite sandwich" thread. Gave myself a slap and quickly exited Grin

venusandmars · 23/06/2019 09:30

@starsky22 totally agree, it was tough last week. On this woe I feel satiated but not full. With all the rice last week I felt simultaneously stuffed and hungry.

And I turned from a quiet, calm creature into a farting, snoring, hangry, bored monster!

At last, today I am back on bootcamp food.

B - avocado (oh how I've missed you)
L - visiting PILs but I'm taking lunch so lovely lamb Shepherds pie topped with celeriac mash, with buttery broccoli and cauliflower. Then raspberries and cream
D - egg mayonnaise and salad

So delighted to be having all this variety of veg and salad. Yum yum

venusandmars · 23/06/2019 09:31

And not a grain of rice in sight. Thank goodness Smile

Notwatchingtvtoday · 23/06/2019 09:55

Morning all, lovely to hear how your weekends are going.

I had a really busy day yesterday, rushing round working and shopping, friends for dinner, 1/2 glass of Prosecco and few extra berries and half a pound up . I actually think it is more that I was more hydrated this morning, than yesterday morning.

In agreement with all that it is a much easier thing to cut carbs when out and about than to be low fat, but you definitely can’t mix the 2 .

Today
B cofffee with butter and total yogurt
L homemade Frittata as did not make it yesterday
D Roast lamb with coleslaw and Celaric ( I have so many as have been buying when see them) also got some frozen celaric in Waitrose , it is so easy, it will definitely become a regular buy

Almahart · 23/06/2019 11:31

Hallo. Good day food wise yesterday, lunch was grilled asparagus with boiled eggs and Parmesan, dinner 2 home made burgers with cauli cheese, a lump of cheese as a snack and a square of dark choc

Proud of myself for no wine on a Saturday night

Has anyone got a recipe for belly pork rashers? Bought some in Lidl but not sure what to do with them

Rayna37 · 23/06/2019 14:59

Almahart pork belly is delicious just grilled or chucked on a tray in the oven. Crispy, juicy, one of the real joys of this way of eating! I never used to eat it but it's a real staple now. Easy with roasted veg like butternut squash, onion, thyme and pine nuts as then it's all ready at once or to be lower carb celeriac chips/chunks and FLGV, or just lots of sautéed buttery kale.
