Week 6 - 'Summer' Low Carb Bootcamp - welcome to the second half

Morning all!

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So now we've completed the first half of Bootcamp. Some trials and tribulations along the way, but hopefully you've all settled into the swing of things and it's becoming easier and more like second nature.

Just a reminder - if you haven't already - to check out the recipe threads, which are all stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic. Some really nice ideas there to inspire you.

And also, just in case you haven't seen this thread here's one which is about good low carb products that people have come across

If you post on that thread - and please do! - please post a photo of the front of the pack and also the nutritional info on the back of the pack.

We've still not got any celeriac around her. Mutter mutter mutter Angry

Summery1 · 20/06/2019 19:27

Tomorrow is weigh day! Panic. Realising it is the alternative weigh day.
I have a confession to make. I ate 2 chicken nuggets and 2 potato cakes! I MUST dump the childrens' leftovers. This is ridiculous. I'm off to swim off those carbs. Angry

Good news is I found celeriac today so I bought 6. Should I keep in the fridge?

B: 3 poached eggs, spinach, black pudding. Coffee with cream.
L: Caesar salad (no croutons)
D: ...I'll see if I'm hungry after swimming.

MumbleLumble · 20/06/2019 19:49

I put mine in the fridge and it seemed fine after nearly a week in there.

I got mine in Asda, sitting

SittingontheSidelines · 20/06/2019 19:56

Sadly no Asda. Envy

MrsBertBibby · 20/06/2019 20:01

I've left celeriac in the fridge for weeks and it's been fine.

Nameusernameuser · 20/06/2019 20:58

We have celeriac in our Asda! It was reduced to 10p, clearly we don't have many bootcampers here Grin

SittingontheSidelines · 20/06/2019 21:21

Hmmmaybe I should move.

1Wildheartsease · 20/06/2019 22:03

Donated blood today - at least half an armful ... always hope that it might help with fat loss :).

I did manage to leave without raiding the free crisps and biscuits. (Do you really think this a healthy snack NHS blood service?)

My son thinks it a good reason to feed everyone steak and spinach for a few days.

MumbleLumble · 20/06/2019 22:14

What a bargain nameuser hope you stocked up! Grin

MumbleLumble · 20/06/2019 22:17

1wildheart I've had a blood transfusion so thank you for giving blood. I suppose biscuits and.crisps are cheaper sadly.

Summery1 · 20/06/2019 22:55

Gosh. The carbs were unpleasant in my stomach while swimming. I could taste the potato (and not in a good wayEnvy).

It gives me pause because I'm doing my first Olympic distance triathlon next weekend (9 days) and I assumed I'd need carbs bananas etc as I expect to take about 4 hours. Now I wonder... Has anyone any experience of this?

ShagMeRiggins · 21/06/2019 04:36

My son thinks it a good reason to feed everyone steak and spinach for a few days.

Bright boy.

Terrifiedandregretful · 21/06/2019 06:30

Hello everyone. Is it ok I've jump on? I've done low carb before and loved it but I'm very much off the wagon right now. Day 1 here we come! I hope everyone has a good day and enjoys the celeriac!

IStillMissBlockbuster · 21/06/2019 07:32

Ok, Friday weighers know where it's at!

I am down 2lbs this week. Past the 1lb up and down i've been doing for 3 weeks. Finally! However, I need to use this as motivation to NOT FUCK IT UP this weekend. So maybe I shouldn't record it on the spreadsheet until the scales confirm it on Monday.

MumbleLumble · 21/06/2019 07:36

Good luck terrified. Hope your first day goes well. What have you got to eat today?

Well I've put on over a lb overnight. Must be that pizza from the other night. Very annoying as yesterday I'd prepared myself for some weight gain but as I stayed the same, I thought I'd gotten away with it. I wasn't expecting for it to affect me today instead. Never mind. I've been pretty strict yesterday and will be over the weekend too. Going to see toy story 4 tonight so will take my bottle of water to sip while the kids enjoy their popcorn.

NigellaAwesome · 21/06/2019 07:57

@Summery1 I did a 100 mile cycle a few years ago whilst on boot camp. I found I was fine until about 60 miles, then I needed something extra for energy. I used those energy jellies and it was fine, got back on to boot camp immediately afterwards.

Rshard · 21/06/2019 07:58

Well done istillmiss. I’ve lost the 2lbs I somehow gained between Wednesday and Thursday so I’ll koko and see what the scales say on Monday. Feeling good for the weekend. Ikea tonight - any food suggestions?

Welcome terrified, good luck

Sometimes takes a couple of days for carbs to show on the scales for me too mumble, hope you enjoy the cinema, my dd wants to see that film

Good luck to the other Friday weighers!!

MrsBertBibby · 21/06/2019 08:21

At last! I've been noodling around 12 12 something for the last 2 weeks, but this morning I was 12 10 3/4.

Which also means I have lost a stone exactly!

I think there will be a bit of wardrobe-mining this weekend. See what fits again.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 21/06/2019 09:01

Morning all, good luck with the triathlon summary1 well done to everyone who has weighed today.

Anyone got any tips/ recipes for a home cooked LCHF curry ? Friday night is usually curry night in our house, normally purchased from M&S or other supermarkets. After a lot of roast type dinners this week, I really fancy a change, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I did not drink enough water during the day yesterday, I was gardening and only drank 500ml , I really noticed I was then eating when I suspect I was actually thirsty, so going to try to remember that for future reference.

So today:
Water, water, water
1 cup of tea with milk
2 coffees with butter
B Greek yogurt with tsp double cream, Tsp Linwoods, 1 raspberry crumbed
L am out shopping so for lunch so will try to choose like eggs/avocado
D hopefully curry with cauliflower rice

Morning campers and Friday weighers. Well I’m 163.6lb which is within 0.4 of the lowest I’ve been on bc so far (which was weigh in before last).

So I’m bloody lucky! Feeling very grateful considering the amount of wine consumed over past few weeks. This is off-set by the realisation that it means I probably would have seen my next whoosh already had I been a bit stricter.

Still, I’m not complaining. I’ve maintained my previous whoosh/loss despite being a bit slack recently, so am happy with that progress at least. Will try to be good over weekend and say goodbye to wine for the foreseeable future after one last fling tonight to kick start a new concentrated phase of trying to shift this lard.

SO, ONWARDS AND DOWNWARDS CAMPERS!

18pagesfrontandback · 21/06/2019 11:07

I know this isn’t news to any of us, despite the failure to always comply GrinWink, but drinking ALL the water, really does help . I felt so bloated earlier this week, have drank water like a fish Wed/Thurs and can see and feel the difference.

I didn’t record a weight on Mon, should I put today’s on there and re-weigh again for this Mon or put today’s weight as Mon coming? Unless Mon’s is lower in which case I use that? Grin

starsky22 · 21/06/2019 11:12

Friday weighing is working for me! I'm 4lbs down! Very pleased and feeling motivated to stick to it strictly this weekend as it is working! Think I'll be ok today and we're planning a bbq tomorrow, which i can easily do low carb, only issue may be Sunday when we are round friends for dinner. They are doing a roast so I plan to stick to meat and lots of veg.

Had work event last night, drinks & nibbles, i drove to stop me drinking too much, which always makes me gain weight and make bad food choices! I had one glass of prosecco and was pleased to see they had platters of cheese and cold meats, which was lovely and very low carb! Avoided the burgers and chips, thought about a bunless burger, but would have been too messy!

starsky22 · 21/06/2019 11:15

Well done to all the other Friday losers! Lets agree not to use it as an excuse to relax over the weekend, instead use it as motivation to keep going and get a good Monday weigh in too!

18pages I would definitely try a week or more without drinking and see the difference it makes, alcohol always makes me gain weight and so I really have to restrict it to lose the weight.

Rshard · 21/06/2019 11:47

Whoop mrsbert

No curry recipes from me I’m afraid notwatching, weird I know but I’m not a big fan of them.

Well done 18pages! Think you could log your weigh in either way, it all work out in the long run won’t it. Sorry that’s actually no help is it!?

And well done to you too starsky, motivation is exactly how I’m hoping a Friday weigh in will work! We can do it!!

18pagesfrontandback · 21/06/2019 11:52

Unfortunately Starsky - I already know that! Grin Stupid fucker that I am. I have only started drinking since half-term having quit it back around Jan time.
It’s always my nemesis for weight loss. You’d think that would stop me, but oh no, I AM the definition of stupid: keep on repeating the same mistake expecting a different outcome.

Bizarrely, I was doing better with it all before I joined this bc. Think I jinxed my success by joining a group I thought would improve my moral/rate of loss Grin

Not leaving though. It’s me, not you bc. Need to get my shit together. Is BIWI’s stick still on holiday? Can someone smack me with it if I haven’t ditched booze by next week and am still whining like a baby the next weigh in when nothing happens?
