Week 6 - 'Summer' Low Carb Bootcamp - welcome to the second half

BIWI · 17/06/2019 07:56

Morning all!

here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So now we've completed the first half of Bootcamp. Some trials and tribulations along the way, but hopefully you've all settled into the swing of things and it's becoming easier and more like second nature.

Just a reminder - if you haven't already - to check out the recipe threads, which are all stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic. Some really nice ideas there to inspire you.

And also, just in case you haven't seen this thread here's one which is about good low carb products that people have come across

If you post on that thread - and please do! - please post a photo of the front of the pack and also the nutritional info on the back of the pack.

*Burnt = black

A bit over done looking is actually peak yum. If they’re not YUM, you’ve over cooked or under cooked them.

Hope all that very technical info helps Grin

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/06/2019 14:40

Oo I may have to give the roast green beans a try plus the celeriac tartiflette Grin.

Got the munchies late morning but managed to stave them off with a couple of rollitos and water. Egg mayo with spinach for lunch. Plus more more water. Not sure about dinner, been home v late the past couple of nights.

Good news is that I am back to my pre-holiday weight but the scales just don't want to budge any lower. Must KOKO.

BIWI · 19/06/2019 15:47

If you have access to Waitrose, or can order online from them, they do a 500g of frozen, diced celeriac, if that helps anyone.

I can confirm that the tartiflette was lovely. Served it with broccoli roasted in olive oil with onion and red chilli strips.

Someone posted about microwaving a whole celeriac.... How long for? I can't find the post.. (it's not for today, it's going on Shepherds pie, then in the freezer till Sunday when I'm back on this woe)

VeryLittleOwl · 19/06/2019 15:57

Toppings and a side salad is a good idea, thanks Venus.

Tomorrow's just resolved itself, I got a message from the lady who currently has the horse saying the forecast is dreadful their side and since he hasn't been ridden for six weeks, so is on his toes anyway, and was high as a kite in the wind this morning, she feels it might be better if we postpone!

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2019 16:05

so it's quite hard to accidentally fall into McDonalds

Ha!

I simply cannot get celeriac. Even my predictive text doesn't recognise it

Ha again!

something like a few nuts or a bit of grilled halloumi

Mmmm, grilled halloumi...

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2019 16:19

I have had a very, very difficult day/week.

I am currently sipping a Gin&Slim. Yeah, I know.

Haven’t had breakfast or lunch, but doing great on the water & bouillon front. Hmm

Planned dinner for later is cod smothered in butter and a mixed salad from the garden. Which isn’t enough, but it’s the best I can manage today, I think.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2019 16:33

I also want to add that tonight’s dinner was going to be leftover Greek salad, but who wants to eat that in this pissing weather? Angry

Come on, June!!! Remember you’re part of Spring/Summer!

Ps— this emoji Angry

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/06/2019 16:44

In an effort to save you from conversing with yourself @ShagMeRiggins I am coming on to congratulate you on your taste in emojis - it's my favourite one too, nothing else comes close Grin

HmmHmmHmm

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2019 16:58

In an effort to save you from conversing with yourself

I do it All. The. Time. My timings are not typical Mumsnet timings. But bless you.

The Hmm emoji is glorious and the responsible artist/graphic designer must receive a knighthood.

Thank you for your support, TheWayOfTheWorld. Grin

prettybird · 19/06/2019 17:47

I agree about the Hmm emoji - I am always irrationally pissed off that Apple/Facebook don't have one that is nearly as good HmmGrin

BIWI · 19/06/2019 17:57

A close second is Confused

But I definitely agree that Hmm is the best. And I far prefer the original MN emojis, not those new fangled ones you can use on your phone.

OP posts:
prettybird · 19/06/2019 18:13

Yup - there really isn't a Confused emoticon on the standard emoji keyboards Hmm

SittingontheSidelines · 19/06/2019 19:08

Hmm i've still not weighed. Going to forget it and wait till Monday now.

Back on track, ignoring dh and the crunching of peanuts.

Lunch omelette
Dinner cheese omelette.

Hopefully Biwi has left for Hamsterjam so won't berate me for my lack of veg.

Grimbles · 19/06/2019 19:52

If you have access to Waitrose, or can order online from them, they do a 500g of frozen, diced celeriac, if that helps anyone

It does indeed, and it's only 85p a bag Shock

It's about 10 miles to the nearest waitrose so I might give them a call to check they have it before driving over there (yes morrisons, I am still bitter that you didn't have the frozen avocado in stock)

TheWayOfTheWorld · 19/06/2019 19:58

Bloody Ocado doesn't have the frozen celeriac .

Still at the office and here for the foreseeable, looks like rollitos for dinner...

Grimbles · 19/06/2019 20:02

They do celeriac rice as well Shock

starsky22 · 19/06/2019 20:35

Im on the app and the emojis are always mixed up, I get lots of gin bottles instead of faces! Gin Gin
Will have go on the laptop to work out what emojis you're all talking about!

Weighed this morning and I've lost 2 lbs overnight, just need it to stick!

Food today:
B fasting
Had an almond latte about 11am
Lunch - leftover chicken, celeriac and buttery cabbage
Dinner - pork steak with courgette fried with bacon and then added some cream and parmesan and a bit more buttery cabbage on the side

Feeling very bloated today and had some awful stomach pains earlier, will drink more water and see if it helps.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/06/2019 20:56

yes morrisons, I am still bitter that you didn't have the frozen avocado in stock

Grin

Sending Flowers to other bloaters. This, too, shall pass.

BIWI · 19/06/2019 21:59

@SittingontheSidelines

I'm still here ... Grin

Summery1 · 19/06/2019 22:06

Brunch: 3 eggs, cheddar, mushroom basil and chives
Dinner: last of chicken thigh stew with courgette and mange tout, this time.
Snack: piece of 85% chocolate

But then it went a little off track...
Children were having toasted muffins and left half a toasted buttery muffin behind...BlushBlush
My loss yesterday and serious bad breath today, made me think I'd aced this and needed a little break.
It. Was. Delicious.

Back to it tomorrow.

Summery1 · 19/06/2019 22:07

18 thanks for the veg tip. I prefer hot food in this weather. Sounds yum.

MrsBertBibby · 19/06/2019 22:26

Celeriac dauphinoise again (last helping.) Fuck me it is delicious! (And the cream means himself avoids it, unlike the boulangere, which he keeps pinching.) Also a heap of tenderstem broccoli. Gorgeous.

MrsBertBibby · 19/06/2019 22:27

Enjoy your trip BIWI.

BIWI · 19/06/2019 22:42

Thanks @MrsBertBibby. Have just found out that the kitchen will be being dismantled while we're away, so when we get back we really will be camping out in the living room!
