Morning all

Hopefully there will be some losses to record on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness but please don't be disheartened if you didn't lose (or even see a small gain.

Weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for this. Your body is getting used to the new regime, but if you stick to it, then you should see things get moving again from next week.

If you are struggling, make sure that you are following Bootcamp rules to the letter; consider whether or not dairy is an issue for you - and if you've moved to Bootcamp Light then perhaps consider going back to Bootcamp for another week or so?

Whatever the case, don't develop a case of the fuckits and jump head first into the biscuits. That's the only way to guarantee that you will gain weight!

Erm, hello again. You ladies really won’t believe this, but my gallbladder is fine. However, I’ve been diagnosed with fat in my liver. I’m not an alcoholic, and I’ve never had high cholesterol. The imaging guy (doctor?) said, however, you can get it from eating too many carbohydrates (he was the imaging guy and maybe not a doc, so this may not be very scientific). I’m also very overweight as you can see on the spreadsheet, after a high/long dose of steroids, and that plays a role. But the answer is....

Low-carb and weight loss. So... um. I’m back, just after I left. I’ll be weighing in next Monday and probably call this week a “loss” (not for low-carbing, as I’m doing that IMMEDIATELY, just for trying to weigh-in) since I still have to wait until tomorrow to hear from my doctor with the official, more scientific version of, “Don’t eat carbs.” Also, please learn from what’s happening to me. If your weight is creeping up... do whatever you need (in a healthy way!) to keep it on track. This stuff kills, and it may someday kill me. Trying not to be too negative. Grin

SittingontheSidelines · 05/06/2019 15:09

And I had a frittata yesterday not a tortilla.

Youwanapizzame · 05/06/2019 15:28

Yes BIWI a bit a lot process heavy, the ham gammon IS one I cooked myself...

Will do better tomorrow!

BIWI · 05/06/2019 15:30

@RightYesButNo I'm very glad that you don't have gallbladder problems - and I'm delighted that you're back, because LCHF is the absolute perfect WOE for NAFL - non-alcoholic fatty liver.

Hope things go well for you Flowers

@Youwanapizzame - OK - you're forgiven Wink

Given all the positives that you then go on to list, why do you think this is temporary?!

I think this a slow burn idea that is difficult to get your head around. I did Jan boot camp and this one and my MyFitnessPal line is wobble wobble wobble down while on plan and sharp line up while not. It's blindingly obvious I should be doing this pretty much all the time. But my brain fights it.

And people keep telling me it's restrictive. A lovely woman in my office yesterday kept asking, "can you eat..." and a list of grains. Well no but I can eat most of the delicious food that I like. And many things I hadn't eaten in years because of 'calories' like tuna in olive oil. Yum.

BIWI · 05/06/2019 15:34

Yes, I suppose that's true @MrsTerryPratchett. But I think for all of us, we can look forward to adding back some carbs when we reach our desired weight - just not all of them all of the time!

And it fascinates me that non-low carbers think this is a restrictive way of eating, when they're cutting out fat, anything fatty and anything with too many calories! (Except we know that they don't - always lots and lots of cheating going on - usually with booze and chocolate and cake and biscuits - on any of the other weight loss threads!)

Also, @MrsTerryPratchett, I’ve noticed that for a lot of my friends that are women and 35+, the weight just doesn’t come off unless they cut SOME carbs. They call it whatever they like (“oh, I stopped eating desserts,” “oh, I’ve gone gluten-free,” etc, but as long as it adds up to less carbs in their diet, they start to lose). My friends who are eating the same amount of carbs and just trying to exercise are getting fit, which is very important, but they aren’t losing any weight nor changing shape. It’s not the case for all of them, but quite a few.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/06/2019 15:44

So true RightYes.

And I'm really glad you can stick around.

BIWI · 05/06/2019 15:46

I don't think my liver is likely to be suffering from the non-alcoholic kind ... BlushGrin

Your frittata looks gorgeous noteatchingtv

Eggs are fab, the ultimate fast food and so versatile - I love them!

Really glad you’re still hanging out with us all rightyes

ShagMeRiggins · 05/06/2019 16:28

Rayna, now that you’ve said it, can I flatter myself that WATER! WATER! WATER! might become a catch phrase?!Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 05/06/2019 16:30

Speaking of which, this day has been so shite I’ve only drink one measly pint of the water.

I’ll catch up before bedtime (‘bedtime’— what am I, six? Hmm) but I do know that drinking copious amounts in a short time isn’t as effective.

BalloonSlayer · 05/06/2019 16:59

Well done all ! < waves to everyone >

Newsflash:
I have lost a stone! Grin

I only wanted to lose half a stone but I wanted to maintain the low sugar.

Mind you my belly button looks awful, like a saggy old arsehole.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 05/06/2019 17:02

Well, I think the jury is still out on how many eggs we should be consuming a week and i think there is such thing as too much of even a good thing. Tw eggs for breakfast plus eggs in lunch seems a lot. Variety is key and I think if I can vary it up a bit, that is probably a good thing.

Almahart · 05/06/2019 17:28

Just logging on:

Bf was salami, emmenthal and cucumber
Lunch cold chicken and hm coleslaw

Just had a snack of three squares dark choc, two strawberries and about ten raspberries

I find on bc I don’t cheat with carbs, I just push the rules and eat lots of things you should only eat in moderation. I REALLY want this weight to come off!

MumbleLumble · 05/06/2019 17:54

@BalloonSlayer don't worry you're not the only one with a saggy arse hole belly button. I had mine pierced before I had the DC. Big mistake!

I am half a pound away from losing a stone. GrinGrin

SittingontheSidelines · 05/06/2019 18:02

@Almahart me too.

Lunch spicy chicken wings dressed leaves.

Snack cheese, peanuts, a lot. Blush

Dinner don't need any now, however I expect I'll feel hungry later because it was a big snack but not likely to be filling enough to not need to eat again. I feel quite thrown today and don't know why.

TowandaForever · 05/06/2019 18:25

@Summery1

When it's cold I top my water bottles up with boiling water. Makes it much easier to drink.

ShagMeRiggins · 05/06/2019 18:35

RightYesButNo, your post at 15.40 resonates with me because it ties into so many ideas people have about weight loss and healthy eating.

In an ideal world we would all eat proper food in moderation, be active, and maintain a healthy weight. But some of us are overweight or want/need to lose, which is why we're in Bootcamp.

When you said your friends are all doing a bit of something (e.g., gluten), it reminded me that carbs are not the enemy (vegetables, yay!), it is the source of those carbs that is the problem.

Breakfast: cereal laced with sugar
Lunch: sandwich laced with sugar in the bread, and fat
Snack: biscuits, crisps, cake
Dinner: Meat & potatoes & two “veg”

Insulin, sugar, sugar, insulin. Starch. Unnatural.

Aargh! (Now up to a litre of water today. Yay.)

ShagMeRiggins · 05/06/2019 18:40

BalloonSlayer you bellybutton will probably catch up in time. Great job with the loss of a stone

Almahart · 05/06/2019 18:46

Can I just say I bought some (full fat obvs) Creme fraiche tonight. It is delicious!!! No idea why it hadn’t occurred to me before

m0therofdragons · 05/06/2019 18:50

Breakfast-Greek yoghurt
Lunch-lettuce mixed leaves with Brie and Parma ham
Dinner-cabbage and asparagus cooked in butter and stir fried beef

Made extra dinner for tomorrow's lunch. Feeling determined!

Rayna37 · 05/06/2019 19:11

AlmaHart I use creme fraiche a lot, as the base for cauliflower cheese and a quick sauce to serve with pork steaks/pork chops/chicken:

Sauté some shallots and/or mushrooms in butter, then stir in creme fraiche and a big dollop of wholegrain mustard.

Turns a potentially dull meat and FLGV meal into something amazing. You can do similar with paprika instead of mustard (and sour cream does the same job too).
