Starting tomorrow's thread early as I'm not around in the morning

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So far there seem to be some great results already, so I'm hoping they've continued over the weekend.

I love this week because the first weigh-ins are often spectacular, but also all those who were less than convinced are amazed how much they've lost!

It really sounds to me like people have really got to grips with this WOE, which is fantastic.

Here's to you all, and wishing you a good result on the scales tomorrow. (Or with the tape measure or the clothes you're trying on, if that's your preferred method of monitoring progress!)

Morning Brew just finishing catching up. So happy to wake up this morning to find sinus pain gone and cold on its way out! I can breeeeeeathe. And I didn’t cave Star
So to whomever asked about staying on track when have a cold: in my case, nothing but cold hard willpower I’m afraid. Lots of hot liquids helped with congestion, and obvs rest when you can. I did have a bit of fresh lemon juice in water/ginger tea but that’s it. That and ibuprofen/paracetamol.

Another long day out here today but MUST try to achieve water goals. Yesterday was not good

Have a good day campers, and KOKO Flowers

Rshard · 23/05/2019 07:30

Two days in university today and tomorrow, food is provided and I will not succumb to the wraps and cookies. More worried about drinking all my water without having to constantly disturb the lectures! Have already had half a litre

venusandmars · 23/05/2019 07:49

So I've done something a bit foolish (in relation to BootCamp) - I've signed up for the 'Ration Challenge'. During Refugee Week, 16 - 23rd June, I will be eating only the same food that a Syrian refugee in a camp is given as a weekly allowance. It is essentially some rice, beans, a bit of oil and a few sardines (although I've raised enough sponsorship to have some salt and wee bit of vegetable). It is everything that bootcamp is not. The timing is bad, week 6 of BC, but it serves to remind me how fortunate I am in life, and also how wonderful and varied the food choices are on this woe. With lchf I can sometimes feel tempted by crisps or some freshly made bread, but the alternatives are so delicious and filling that it is not really a hardship - buttery scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, delicious moussaka, plentiful veg, cream....

I won't be posting during that week (it would be very boring reading and not at all BC) but it will be interested to see how I feel.

Anyway, that's not for a few weeks, so for today:
B - avocado, mozzarella, tiny bit of tomato
L - egg mayonnaise salad
D - vegetable and coconut curry with cauliflower rice

VeryLittleOwl · 23/05/2019 08:19

Last night's Moroccan (spelt correctly this morning!) sausages turned out to be destined for an omelette/frittata-type thing with lots of veggies in as well. Really nice :)

Very large NSV for me - my snoring has been so apocalyptically bad that for several months I've been sleeping in the spare room because poor DH was walking around with suitcases under his eyes. For the last two nights I've been back in our room and I'm not waking him up, so it's either lessened enough that it doesn't disturb him or stopped completely.

B: yoghurt and cream
L: chicken salad
S: Absolutely no idea, DH said he had to go into town to get fuel and would have a wander through Tesco at the same time. There's some chilli in the freezer I can defrost if he comes back with something completely unsuitable.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 23/05/2019 08:45

Morning all and good luck with your challenge venusandmars , I have sent you a pm as I would really like to sponsor you if that’s possible.

Last night I pan fried some leftovers buttered cabbage and cauliflower mash, I mixed it up together and popped it in a small frying pan with some butter, then finished it off in the oven. It was delicious and hubby loved it too.

verylittleowl I snore too if I get too heavy, it is one of the things that prompted me to loose weight this time 😀

Today
3 litres of water, am tracking on my Fitbit dashboard
B total Greek yogurt and a teaspoon on marsacapone
L leftover roast chicken and buttered veg or coleslaw, still to decide
D meat of some kind, buttered green veg , followed by small portion of Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of marsacapone or double cream

I have done LCHF before but not with boot camp, am really enjoying reading the thread and like the fact that by typing out my plan for the day it makes me plan.

I’m away for a few days this weekend, so am a bit worried about choices and eating out but am planning to go to the shops today to get some back up stuff. I’m going to take some Greek yogurt with me (to France 😀) then will just have to order carefully.

Hope you all have a good BC day

Rshard · 23/05/2019 08:58

A very worthwhile challenge venus

Yay verylittleowl, nice NSV!

I slept the whole night without waking for a wee which is unheard of. I was genuinely a bit stunned when the alarm went off and I realised!

Almahart · 23/05/2019 08:58

Another NSV, in a different skirt that I couldn’t do up before BC

Bf will be Total you
Lunch M&S prawns with some coleslaw

This evening is tricky as it’s book group which is a boozy affair with a takeaway

I’m going to take some fancy fizzy water and eat before I go. Someone else in the group won’t eat turmeric so we never ever get curry which would be ok, it’s usually pizza or Thai which is a disaster

prettybird · 23/05/2019 09:09

Well done verylittleowl Smile I'm sure your dh is happy too.

I have a TMI Blush thing that happens when I get above a certain weight (I have a strong pelvic floor thanks to Pilates but some of the muscles were damaged when I had ds so the rest have a greater load Blush) and it's already become less of a risk Smile

Venusandmars - good for you Smile

Re bikinis, when I'm at the upper end of my weight, I wear bikinis with bigger bottoms that cover more of my bum and stomach Wink It helps that when we go on holiday to Greece, we go to a wee hotel that only has a few Brits and is mostly Greek and Italian. The Italian and Greek mamas don't give a fuck what people think and wear their bikinis with aplomb at any age and any size Grin The other thing that I've realised is that people aren't that interested in what you look like around the pool or on the beach (maybe it helps that I'm now well above 50 Wink) - they're there to chill out and relax themselves Smile So yes, I will try to lose weight before I go on holiday (and go and buy a new bikini Wink) - but once I'm there, I'll be happy with whatever shape I've got to.

Almahart · 23/05/2019 09:12

It is true that on the med women wear bikinis whatever their size or age and no one bats an eyelid.

I remember going to Greece after my first dc with a Boden flowery one piece. I felt so dowdy.

venusandmars · 23/05/2019 09:39

@Notwatchingtvtoday Thank you! I've sent you a pm, hope the link works.

venusandmars · 23/05/2019 09:42

@Notwatchingtvtoday I think my first reply had the wrong link, the second one should be right.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/05/2019 10:05

Hi, there - think everyone who wanted to be added to the spreadsheet is now on - just shout at me if not and I'll sort it.

My couple of days holiday did not go well - spent them sitting by the side of motorway waiting for the RAC, sitting in car-hire rooms waiting for a car, sitting in garages waiting for repair assessment, sitting in used-car salesrooms waiting for salespeople...

Still not sorted, but fingers crossed tomorrow is going to deliver the solution.

Not lost any weight, but my jeans definitely feel a bit loser. With all the sitting about though, that could just mean my lardy hips have sunk down a bit onto my lardy arse.

Summery1 · 23/05/2019 10:42

Off to google mousakka recipe.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 23/05/2019 10:49

HeartyHooker. Your DS did really well to do that 😊

Prettybird. It’s funny how different minds work, i instantly tried to see which one o was like & that SO wasn’t the point of the pister!. Well done on the low enough weight to be more confident with your TMI (which isn’t actually TMI, it helps everyone else know they’re not alone or what other benefits there are to this WOE). I used to like my body even when I’d gained weight. I still don’t mind my natural shape, but bits and pieces are bothering me now and losing and gaining and losing weight is not helping. I need to lose some and at least maintain that loss to help my skin.

youwanbapizzame I look like I’ve taken the neighbours ironing in too 😳🤣

Nyon. Good luck for your interview today! Fingers crossed you get it and you can tell your boss to ‘Fuck Off’. In your head at least! You’re doing well to stay in track, don’t let that twat derail you! Let us know how you get on today.

Well done summery ⭐️

18pages. Great news about your cold buggering off! Shall I keep posting 💦💦💦?

Rshard tricky isn’t it. Lots of leg crossing in the sessions!

As for the night time, I know my blood sugars are bad when I’m up in the night for a wee, now doing this I’m up, but hoping it’ll settle soon. It’s so nice not to get up in the night.

VenusAndMars that’s a great thing to do. It’ll certainly make you further appreciate how fortunate we are. Timing isn’t great, but that’s life isn’t it and it’s not like you’re new to LC, It’ll be interesting to see how you feel and how it affects your weight.

VLOwl. How were the sheep? Good news on your 😴. I snore terribly Blush I’m a long way off that changing unfortunately, but I’m hoping it will. It’s terrible trying not to fall asleep on a plane or whatever invade they think they’ve got engine trouble 😂. It’s really embarrassing.

NotwatchingTVtoday. Hi 😊
I love ‘leftovers* I mostly cook so there’s the next nights dinner partially done too. I hope you have a fab weekend!

Big Hi to everyone else too!

ChippingInLowCarbing · 23/05/2019 10:55

Athelstane. Oh no!! That’s crap. Where are you now & how’s your car?!

Ninkaninus · 23/05/2019 11:19

Hi everyone! A beautiful sunny day here, hope it’s the same for all of you! ☀️☀️☀️

Yesterday was my birthday, so today is the first day of my 44th year! I celebrated with crispy duck (gem lettuce instead of pancakes) and a glass of bubbly water with angostura bitters and a slice of lime. It wasn’t worth it for me to mark the day with sweet things, bubbly or to go off-piste in any way - I wanted to navigate it happily and contentedly knowing I was doing the right thing for my health and happiness longterm. We’re planning a meal out at some point to celebrate (probably a seafood restaurant), but truly I feel so happy that I stuck with it and didn’t slip up.

I got a beautiful bunch of white roses from my OH (extra special because I’d seen the very same ones in M&S earlier in the day and thought how pretty they were, so that was a lovely coincidence), and a few things that I wanted for summer (bag, poncho, earrings). I’m grateful and counting my many blessings* today.

*i know that’s such a wanky and overused insta-phrase these days, but I really am. 2018 was such a rough year for us, for various reasons.

Have a great day everyone, KOKO. 🌷

Heartyhooker · 23/05/2019 11:42

@wasgoing fab NSV. I keep reminding myself of the health benefits of this WOE, not worth giving up for carbs.
@Nyon work stress is the pits, keeping my fingers crossed for the interview.
@Ninks happy birthdayFlowers white is the colour of pure love
For the Northerners amongst us Booths have a Twinnings cold infusion starter kit in. Currently trying out the Turkish delight like rose lemonade and wondering if you could put it in gin. Also had reduced steak and is so close to kids school I had a lovely catch up with my friend over creamy coffee. I was slightly fretting about size of secondary school, till she mentioned there were three thousand kids at her high school

blackteaplease · 23/05/2019 11:45

I hope your car woes are fixed soon @athelstane.

I have the same attitude to bikinis as prettybird. We got to some fairly relaxed beaches in France and you see all shapes in a bikini. When I was young and slim I was too self conscious to wear one but now I couldn't care less what other people think.

Ninkaninus · 23/05/2019 11:55

Flowers to anyone suffering with stresses or difficult situations. My eyes are giving me a lot of grief the past week or so (think I might need glasses!) so I’m not reading through all the comments. But good vibes to everyone!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/05/2019 12:11

Happy birthday Nink! And thanks, blacktea, I hope so too!

I'm home today with a hire car, Chipping. My own car is fubar'd, so had to take out a loan to get a second hand one - touch wood it comes through today so I can head back down tomorrow to drop off the hire, pick up (and pay) for the new, and dispose of the old.

Despite a deeply anxious four days (I can't really afford all of this, and I'm stuffed if the loan doesn't come through tomorrow) I'm with Nink on the cheesy blessings. Just before Penrith - and just before I broke down - I passed an entirely burnt out skeleton of a car on the opposite carriageway. There but for the grace of god etc. At least I was alive to sit about by the side of the motorway, in the sun, with a book and a fag and a bottle of water. Unlike Nink, I didn't avoid the oblivion-inducing wine though, so am being all extra butter and water today. Grin

Rayna37 · 23/05/2019 12:57

Thrilled to weigh in this morning and find I'm within half a pound of goal in under a fortnight! Thanks BIWI and all, I know I need to be properly strict to do this instead of just vaguely LCHF and I really thought I'd left it too late to get there before my holiday! Time now to go a little lower and see if it suits me and also if I think it's sustainable (post holiday!). My face definitely looks better without the extra weight. Off after work to look at beachwear!

Also made it to lunchtime without my snack of olives and cheese for the first time. I'll probably have them late afternoon.

B: 2 egg, 2 cheese and mushroom omelette
L: 3 chicken drumsticks with spinach/tomato/cucumber/oil salad and some yogurt
D: will be bolognaise, courgetti and parmesan

TOP TIP: do not add turmeric to something you are going to eat with your fingers so says the idiot with yellow joker grin and stained fingers from drumsticks

MrsBertBibby · 23/05/2019 13:20

A morning mowing a section of our rather-too-slopey garden, with lots of stops to gawp at new things flowering, and give encouraging remarks to my bees, who are not being as busy as they need to be just now. Although crates of honey are not really what I need!

B: nibbles of cheese and quorn fillet
L buttery eggs
D something with asparagus and salad.

MrsBertBibby · 23/05/2019 13:21

Well done Rayna!

Ninkaninus · 23/05/2019 13:59

Well done Rayna, that’s awesome.

My lunch today was properly luxurious, and leads me on to my top tip for keeping motivated when the long, hard slog starts (e.g. weeks 3/4 or anytime you aren’t seeing concrete results):

Take the time to make sure you are properly enjoying your meals, particularly lunches. Don’t get too stuck in a rut or eat the same things every single day (unless you like it that way). If you get bored you will likely start feeling deprived.

I usually try to have something like this for lunch or dinner once a week, just as a special treat.

Fried pancetta (just a very small handful)
Falafel*
Half an avocado
Prawns in garlic, chilli and paprika dressing, with coriander
Hot mustard pork scratchings
A small portion of leftover ratatouille, with spring onion
Mini egg tortillas*

*Neither of these are strictly approved for bc but they needed using and my rule of thumb for bending the rules is if it is veg based or has some other nutritional value then it’s okay as long as the serving size is lowish carb. Each of these is less than 5g. I will keep my dinner v.low carb to balance it out.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/05/2019 14:16

Slightly disappointed to measure myself today and discover I may have lost weight but I've yet to lose inches. I swear I look thinner. Does this mean my 8lb loss was all water?
