Starting tomorrow's thread early as I'm not around in the morning

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So far there seem to be some great results already, so I'm hoping they've continued over the weekend.

I love this week because the first weigh-ins are often spectacular, but also all those who were less than convinced are amazed how much they've lost!

It really sounds to me like people have really got to grips with this WOE, which is fantastic.

Here's to you all, and wishing you a good result on the scales tomorrow. (Or with the tape measure or the clothes you're trying on, if that's your preferred method of monitoring progress!)

Hello everyone - sorry to hear of little wobbles here and there - keep going!
I am inexplicably heavier this morning?! Shouldn’t weigh in the week it’s confusing!
In other news the DLA list my daughters most recent claim - gah! I had just left it for a couple of weeks as I didn’t have the motivation to do it all again straightaway. But on Monday I had loads of new energy and thought ‘you’re not getting away with this!’ And redid the form with all new hospital info since the lost claim AND wrote a complaint. Posted special delivery (£7.40!!!) and I received a phone call yesterday saying they had the form and it had gone to the assessors. Grin
I don’t know how long I would have felt too worn out to face it before - so very pleased to have got my energy back by eating well!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 22/05/2019 09:00

Morning all, I joined up on Monday, so 2 days in, am finding this thread really helpful.
B total Greek yogurt with teaspoon of Marsacapone ( will buy some double cream today)
L chicken, buttered cabbage and cauliflower ( all left over from last night)
D Roast chicken , buttered cabbage and cauliflower, as enjoyed it so much yesterday, plus a couple of spoons of Greek yogurt with cream to stop me looking for desert.
I have been drinking so much water, using my fitness pal to track it.

I’m not on the spreadsheet yet as it won’t let me add myself.

2 questions, how much Greek yogurt is a portion? Can we drink fruit teas of any kind? Am finding the limit on tea/ coffee quite difficult

@Ninkaninus I've been doing it since January and this is my third blip (one was birthday week). I've been bouncing round the 10st - 10 st 2 mark but unable to get under so I their was a combination of allowing myself to get hungry but leaving dinner too late, cold starting, dh being out, tiredness (really need half term) and being a bit fed up and inpatient re getting in the 9s. Essentially I threw my toys out of the pram last night. It's salvageable and tonight's dinner of buttery veg and omelette will get me back on track.

m0therofdragons · 22/05/2019 09:11

Ignore random their Blush walking to work again!

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 09:17

m0ther Flowers I’ve been there! Well done on sticking to it since January and apologies if you didn’t need to hear what I was saying. Smile

Rshard · 22/05/2019 09:50

Morning all!

Flowers for those having wobbles and those feeling poorly.

I usually have the constitution of an ox but my tummy hasn’t been happy at all this week, feeling very hungry but then queasy after eating. Can’t pin it down to a particular food. Not going to be sick but feeling very sick and my tummy is super rumbly and noisy. Any thoughts?

bibliomania · 22/05/2019 09:53

Well done, devon, that's an amazing NSV!

prettybird · 22/05/2019 10:04

Trying to catch up on the thread but having been mostly off line since Sunday night, there's a lot to read Grin

I posted my loss on Week 1 thread - 4lb which I was really happy about, given I'd only started on Tuesday Smile

Spent the last 2 days at London Wine Fair Shock - but am pleased to say that I swirled and spat everything Grin (Probably over a 100 wines Shock) I know it still means that I've had some alcohol, but I did minimise the damage.

Even at the meal both nights (made by friends who'd also come down for the show and who'd rented a wee house close by Olympia) I eschewed the wine, and had diet cokes (some times needs must Wink) with them at the pub after the 2nd day. To be fair on our friends, they accommodated my HFLC needs in the meals both nights.

Drank plenty of water and had taken pepperami and babybels with me for snacks/energy.

Got home this morning at 7.15 (overnight bus back to Glasgow Shock) and have STS (although looking at my cankles, I think there's a bit of water retention, although I did try to drink water on the bus and wore support socks.

Anyway, I'm pleased that I minimised the risk of being derailed Halo. Onwards and downwards. Smile

Some great losses from what I've read so far. Smile

Eatenalltheeastereggs · 22/05/2019 10:09

Accidentally cocked up yesterday by troughing my way through three Quarters of a pack of Iceland Frozen cauliflower cheese with pork belly strips. Wow it was tasty - I grated some extra cheese in it too! This morning I looked at the nutritional info (I threw away the packet too hastily at the time) and see it’s 9.3g carbs per quarter so I had 28g of carb in one meal!! Bugger. I also ‘treated’ myself to a small decaf cappuccino ‘as I’d been good’ (HA!) and knew it would be under 5g carbs and also had a Broghie crisp thing with cheese and salami in the evening (4.4g carb) so that all mounted up to a fuck of a lot of carbs.

Don’t know if I’ve knocked myself out of keto but man, this is hard! But I look at my hideous body and feel my sore and creaking knees, hips and ankles every morning and know this HAS to be done.

I will never not enjoy eating sweets and chocolates and drinking wine but I just have to mentally think ‘you’ve had a good innings gorging on them these past 5 decades now it’s about not dying before my kids don’t need me anymore and perhaps being able to move around a bit faster without huffing and puffing!’ And of course enjoying lots of pork fat, chicken skin, butter and oil Smile

m0therofdragons · 22/05/2019 10:12

Haha I need a reminder sometimes.

prettybird · 22/05/2019 10:16

notwatchingtvtoday - you need to ask @AthelstaneTheUnready to ask you as the spreadsheet has been locked for new names (after one too many messing ups on the spreadsheet Wink). This tag should be enough to get your name on Smile

Re yoghurt - portion size at this stage is "however much you need not to feel hungry" Smile

All fruit teas are fine. I also like rooibos (red bush tea) and peppermint & liquorice tea (which tastes amazingly sweet). Both of them I'll occasionally have with a teaspoon of coconut oil (be careful, it can be very hot initially). Personally I prefer the unflavoured and cheap Wink KTC coconut oil, rather than the coconutty extra virgin coconut oil - but some people like the coconuttiness.

Eatenalltheeastereggs · 22/05/2019 10:19

Oh and I just did a search and found one of my Week 3 bootcamp posts from the one I did 7 years ago and I was down to 12st 5 which is a massive stone and a half lighter than what I am now. Got my work cut out to reach that weight again but want to have done so by a wedding in August (and some).

IStillMissBlockbuster · 22/05/2019 10:24

I don't really understand keto, how do you know if you are in it?

Summery1 · 22/05/2019 10:36

notwatching glad you got your answer (clueless newbir).

I felt really seedy last Wednesday. Bad timing as I had to get my 8&6 yo to Dublin on the bus. 2 paracetamol sorted me. I haven't felt bad since and I wondered if I'd had 2 much carbs (I have 1 milky coffee per day). Well I feel poorly again!! It's strange, just a bit weak, and everything is an effort. I was full of beans the last 2 days and did tons of exercise, but think I'll go handy today.
Question:
Does 'carb flu' come and go? Is this 'carb flu '? Has anyone similar?

devoncreamtea · 22/05/2019 10:37

Thanks bibliomania Smile

Yes - good q istillmissblockbuster how do you know if you are in ‘keto’?? Is it when you don’t feel hungry?

TheWayOfTheWorld · 22/05/2019 10:42

Morning, well done to everyone KOKO'i g, blips or not. It is very easy to say sod it when there's been a blip but getting immediately back on the horse is definitely the best thing to do.

Love seeing the food ideas/pictures - is completely forgotten about white fish Confused so will definitely be getting some in to roast and have with lots of veg etc Smile

Summery1 · 22/05/2019 10:45

Good question Blockbuster.

Just thinking, I had my coffee at home yesterday and used cream instead of milk. Is this amount of carb the difference? It's worth it as it was still nice. But I've drank my milky coffee for today. I'm estimating less than 50ml milk.

Eatenalltheeastereggs · 22/05/2019 10:52

I’ve no way of knowing whether I’m in Keto or not - I just assume I bloody MUST be after not eating hardly any carbs for over a week Grin Could be completely wrong though and I’m not that desperate to know how the weight is coming off as long as it is. I know there’s people out there who use strips to test it but I’m not going down that route. I don’t want to medicalise this weight loss just make it the goal of this WOE (such a good TLA!)

Notlostjustexploring · 22/05/2019 10:52

Does anyone have any tips about willpower when they have a stinking cold? I both have a stinking cold and sleep deprived and this caused a severe case on not caring-itis and I stepped off the wagon. I truly wanted the sugar more than to stay on track. I mean I've drawn a line, and been on track today. But how do you avoid that mindset?

TheWayOfTheWorld · 22/05/2019 10:55

Coffee with cream is one of my favourite things about this WOE Grin. Tastes so luxurious. I do limit myself to 2 a day, max.

Notlostjustexploring · 22/05/2019 10:58

Rshard have you tried a cup of broth/stock cube in water? That sometimes makes my stomach feel better?

devoncreamtea · 22/05/2019 11:24

Good effort prettybird - nerves of steel not to sneakily quaff the tastings!!

chocolateavocado99 · 22/05/2019 11:25

Thanks for the food suggestions. I forgot to mention that I live in a hot country and a cool box would be locked in a storage room for 7.5 hours while we walked around outside. I am not sure it would even be worth the effort.
No, not in a hotel. We will stay in dormitories which luckily have a/c . It is not the best residential I have ever been on..Hmm
I may be able to get pork scratching, and I can bring celery which is easy to revive if it goes limp. And I can bring a tin of tuna. thanks for the ideas.

PushkarKali · 22/05/2019 11:36

Ways I know i'm in ketosis:

  • weird taste in my mouth - sometimes slightly metallic, sometimes like liquorice
  • wee smells different (sorry!)
  • no appetite (I still know when I'm hungry but it's genuine hunger rather just being peckish)
  • ketostix. I appreciate what Easter Eggs says about not medicalising the way of eating but I find them reassuring myself.
Youwanapizzame · 22/05/2019 11:48

HA HA @blacktea - thats brilliant - well done on the new norkage

B - Sausage, bacon and mushrooms
L - Salad
D - Sheet pan chicken with veggies - a new recipe!

On another note, here is me in a (obviously) too tight tags still on dress. Hope to make some headway with this one!
