Starting tomorrow's thread early as I'm not around in the morning

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

So far there seem to be some great results already, so I'm hoping they've continued over the weekend.

I love this week because the first weigh-ins are often spectacular, but also all those who were less than convinced are amazed how much they've lost!

It really sounds to me like people have really got to grips with this WOE, which is fantastic.

Here's to you all, and wishing you a good result on the scales tomorrow. (Or with the tape measure or the clothes you're trying on, if that's your preferred method of monitoring progress!)

Good day no snacks apart from a bit of cheddar while cooking. Dinner was asparagus in butter and finely grated cheese with a boiled egg. Was delicious

Ninkaninus · 21/05/2019 21:22

No there isn’t. But people really should respect your boundaries and if you don’t want a cupcake you shouldn’t have to have one. Next time just remember that it’s okay to say you really don’t fancy one.

TheWaiting · 21/05/2019 21:33

Hi everyone! I’m struggling today as my period came this morning. Normally, I’d stuff my face with choc but I’ve resisted so far.
B: yoghurt
L: tuna salad with avocado
D: Turkey rashers, avocado and cauliflower mash
However, I did have a bite (literally just a bite) of lemon drizzle cake at work today. It was cake day Hmm where everyone brought in cakes. I was cross at myself but then rationalised they id only taken one bite of one slice whereas previously I’d have had 2 or 3 cakes over the course of the day.

1stMrsF · 21/05/2019 21:52

@18pagesfrontandback if I was at home I'd probably eat leftovers and make extra dinner to make sure there were some!

I agree about soup but not really got any good recipes - perhaps someone else will suggest some. Most of my go to soups are from pre LC life and are either low fat or high carb or both!

Heartyhooker · 21/05/2019 21:52

@The waiting I feel your pain, period plus split night shifts have Me wanting to dive into carbytwatdom. Dragging my offspring round supermarket after school resulted in rookie mistake of buying carb containing lamb and chilli koftas. At 3vs of carbs each I only had two and skipped the cherry tomato s on my Greek salad.
B Greek yoghurt
L nothing I was sleeping ( no stick please !)
T Greek salad and lamb koftas.

Sigh ds2 has just got up again as he is nervous about singing in a talent contest between local primary schools tomorrow. His lovely teacher ( who ha a a u tube channel of his own music) says he was brilliant in audition but he's a worried and to be fair it's on stage at the Kings hall

Choc mint tea is good for water consumption and it is warm and comforting... or cold and refreshing in a water-bottle, though it seems less chocolaty when chilly. (Chocolate and berries tea is good too.)

Halloumi and cauli curry with buttered chard here tonight. Delicious and very satisfying. I might try it with white fish next time.

starsky22 · 21/05/2019 22:22

Only day 2 for me and not feeling very hungry, had breakfast at 10am, but only because of the rules, rather than being particularly hungry! Had some cravings for something sweet mid-afternoon, out of habit rather than hunger, so had some chicken satay sticks to stop me eating something carby.

Drinking tons of water and therefore going to the toilet constantly, looking forward to that easing up!

Istillmissblockbuster the good thing about this woe is that after a while the sugar cravings go and you don't want the cake, so please don't eat it to keep other people happy or to be polite, work out a plan of action for next time and have some phrases ready to reel out. If you don't want to say you're on a low carb diet, then I find something like this works well - No thanks, I don't react well to sugar/bread/pasta so I'm avoiding it.

Hi shag good to see you again! Smile
NigellaAwesome I remember you as Beryl! Wondering who else has name changed!

venusandmars · 21/05/2019 22:25

@IStillMissBlockbuster I'm so with you - last BC I went to PILs, and MIL (age 90) had made, from scratch, a sticky toffee pudding. It tasted horrendously sweet, I was out of keto for 3 days as a consequence, but hey this is a life-long way of eating and it is about balancing priorities.

However, I'm much better at just saying 'oh that looks lovely, but I'm just off to get a cup of tea / glass of water, I'll be back in a moment' And then no-one ever notices that I don't come back to eat the cake / pizza / drink the wine.

Summery1 · 21/05/2019 23:51

Just posting food,
B; eggs mushrooms spinach feta
L: salmon with cauliflower rice.
D. Leftover cauliflower.
Night.

TheWaiting · 22/05/2019 00:26

@Heartyhooker, good luck to your DS in the talent contest! 🤞
@IStillMissBlockbuster, there’s no point dwelling on it. Onwards and upwards. Take comfort in the fact that you weren’t craving it and didn’t particularly want it. That’s sort of how I felt earlier. I thought I must want a slice of cake so I took it. But one bite was enough-it tasted so sweet and heavy. Not ideal but at least I’ve recognised a change in myself.

SittingontheSidelines · 22/05/2019 01:44

Not caught up with the thread yet. Just posting my food.
B yogurt
I had an almond milk latte in Costa. It tasted really sweet. Only had a few sips. I tried to find carb content on line but couldn't.
L plain omelette (3 egg) with dash of Wooster sauce. Celery, cucumber, mayo.
D Pork curry on wilted rocket and spinach with Greek yogurt stirred in.

Didn't quite reach my four litres today.

chocolateavocado99 · 22/05/2019 05:02

I am looking for LC foods that do not need to be refrigerated. I am going on a 2 day residential and will not have access to cooking facilities or refrigeration. The food is likely to be high carb so I want to avoid it as much as possible.
I will bring some nuts, but I honestly can't think of anything else. Can anyone help? Thanks.

PushkarKali · 22/05/2019 07:16

@chocolatesvocado99 - Pepperami, pork scratchings, a cool box with cut up celery, cucumber, green peppers, avocados and babybels, sachets of miso soup, errrr... can’t think of anything else right now but I am sure others will have some ideas.

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 07:23

Veg will be fine even without a cool box. cheese and yogurt would be fine in a cool box for a couple of days. Boiled eggs would be okay for the first day. Biltong. A tin of tuna in oil, a lemon and some salad leaves.

blackteaplease · 22/05/2019 07:23

@chocolateavocado99 is your residential in a hotel? If so you can load up on a cooked breakfast and then have your own snacks for lunch on day 2. If you feel up to it you can contact the host venue and ask if you an have salad/veg in place of carbs with your main course for dinner.

blackteaplease · 22/05/2019 07:29

I've had another mini woosh overnight and have hit my first goal. I no longer have double boobage. I keep touching my chest to double check which is totally inappropriate at the train station!

MrsBertBibby · 22/05/2019 07:33

Went out to an NT place with my dad and very demented mum yesterday. She had a huge slice of chocolate cake which she kept getting all over herself and needed a lot of managing with. I even managed not to lick the ganache off my fingers.

So yesterday was
B nibbles of cheese and quorn chicken
L cheese omelette (no salad as Dad had none in)
D salad leaves, fried mushies, halloumi, pine nuts and basil oil.

And this morning my weight finally shifted down. Been a bit stuck.

MrsBertBibby · 22/05/2019 07:35

Oh well done Blacktea. The whoosh, not the boob fingering. Although I don't blame you for it!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 22/05/2019 07:50

Morning all! Tricky evening food-wise yesterday due to a never-ending rehearsal but managed to stay low-carb by taking a small snack pot with me to keep me going till I finally got home. So breakfast was Greek yoghurt with cream, lunch was spinach, salt beef and stilton with olive oil, snack was a couple of bits of chicken breast, some olives, a Babybel and few pork scratchings. Had Sunday's leftover saag paneer when I got home.

m0therofdragons · 22/05/2019 08:10

Last night was a disaster. Dh was out and I fell into a tub of ice cream. I've woken with a cold so I'm thinking that was the trigger as it's out of character. Today is another day so back to it!

VeryLittleOwl · 22/05/2019 08:23

Well done, Blacktea and Greebo!

m0ther - love your attitude in climbing straight back on the horse :)

B: yoghurt and cream
L: chicken salad
S: Morrocan sausage casserole, by the looks of it, or possibly Morrocan sausage and mash for DH and Morrocan sausage and veggies for me!

Almahart · 22/05/2019 08:34

Morning all - off to a conference today so have had a huge breakfast of 2 lc sausages and a fried egg and have some M&S pork scratching crisps in my bag to eee mrvthrough if I need

Dinner will be some sort of salad! Another half ib down and an NSV of being able to fully zip up my favourite skirt

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 08:36

It’s important to analyse why you did what you did.

Why did you ‘fall into’ that tub of ice cream? You made a choice to eat it, and there will likely have been a psychological or emotional journey that took you there.

I’m not saying this to discourage you or to upset you, but thinking about it and recognising your triggers means it’s more likely you’ll be able to make a different choice next time. I’m also not just picking on you, but there have been a few indiscretions reported now on the thread, and it’s best to head that off as early a possible in this process, or you won’t actually be getting the full benefits of this lifestyle and you will be setting yourself back every time.

What were you feeling in the evening leading up to getting that tub out of the freezer? Why does it make any difference whether or not your DH is out or at home? Did you attempt to distract yourself or find something else to do? Could you have found some other way to address what you were feeling? Did you have a dinner in the end or did you skip it and just have a little snack?

It will be my turn to go through this self- examination at some point on bootcamp, for sure.

Being mindful of what we eat and why we choose to eat it is really important. And if we choose to put something forbidden into our system during bootcamp it should be worth it - in other words, something we really will properly enjoy and actually want to eat,, for a good reason, and after careful consideration.

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 08:38

(If you’re not a newbie then I’m sorry for telling you things you already know - I am terrible with remembering names. But I thought it might be helpful for anyone else who is faltering or who has had the odd little cheat).

Ninkaninus · 22/05/2019 08:46

In fact thinking about I think you’re a veteran, so you do know the drill - back on the horse exactly like you said!

(I might have been preaching to myself - it’s my birthday today and I am not going to do anything I don’t really want to do!)
