Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the line!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, waiting for the results from your Scales of Truth!

Hopefully the final weigh-in is a good one for you all.

Although this is the end of this Bootcamp, it's not the end of the chat - so not the end of support, advice and general chit chattery!

So don't despair if you haven't reached your target. Keep going and reporting in here. The Big Stick will be rested in the cupboard for a while, but you can keep checking in here.

Thanks Dia well done on your macaroon too
Thing is it actually took no discipline-the urge wasn’t there.
I’m trying to focus on the psychology of it. My current bug bear is the word treat. I think it’s the root of the problem for many people. Using food as a reward or to make you feel better is a no no for me. So any treat has got to be non-food eg a lie in, a magazine etc

Rshard · 26/03/2019 12:07

I love the BB goal @shagme! May I join you? I’ll have a think about a suitable goal.

I agree @siam on previous diets like WW I always felt the need to treat, I used to go to the coop on the way home - the meeting leader was usually in there too! Non food treats are much better!

Condamine · 26/03/2019 12:27

Toots you are a real inspiration.

My final weight is 195 so down 10lbs.

Obviously I am made up with the loss but like some PPs my loss was all in the first half of BC and I lost my way in the last few weeks. I was starting to doubt myself and I am surrounded by LF dieters that continually point out my "errors". Just reading the amazing successes has reinforced my motivation and I am determined to KOKO.

Thank you so much BIWI, your advice and knowledge is invaluable. Although I don't post often I read and enjoy every comment and feel part of a special club. Well done everybody. Flowers

MiniCooperLover · 26/03/2019 12:37

I ate carbs at the weekend (not masses but a couple of pita breads and some couscous salad at a friends house) and tried to run this morning and I just couldn't 😳 Last week when I was fully on track I ran 6.5K without too much hassle. That'll teach me to deviate 🙄

tootstastic · 26/03/2019 13:50

@Dia12 Only half a macaron is positively saintly! yes, I've pretty much stuck to this woe since October. I had a weird stall/slow between bootcamps though (lost less than half a stone).

@ShagMeRiggins I'll still be around between bootcamps...we can keep each other on the straight and narrow. I'll join you on the BB goal...I want to get into the 13s. I will also be joining you having a feckin drink! Cheers 🍸

@Condamine Thanks! Bloody LF brigade are annoying aren't they?! I have a few of those around me who cringe when I reach for my lovely butter/cream.

Just been out for brunch and had bacon, mushrooms (with butter) and poached eggs, plus a gallon of Americanos. This just has to be how I eat now, especially if I'm going to get all the weight off before Christmas (and, more importantly, keep it off!). Sorry I meant WHEN not if!

Siameasy · 26/03/2019 14:00

I agree Rshard the conventional diets are soul destroying so people constantly need “cheat days”. I think it’s because they’re low fat. I don’t honestly feel deprived and I think it’s the full fat we can have in abundance. It’s what your body is asking for I think

bluelefant · 26/03/2019 15:35

Hi everyone,
Last week didn't go particularly well for me hence the small gain Blush
I think I need to start thinking about portion control a bit.
Overall I lost 13 lbs this Bootcamp which I am very happy with as this is actually the lightest I have been for over 4 years and I have been on and off varied diets forever!(and always really)
I would like to join in saying thank you to @BIWI, @AthelstanetheUnready , @StuntNun and all regular and also non regular posters for your contribution Flowers
I may not have posted much but I truly enjoyed being part of this and read every single post from the begining.
Determined to KOKO till the next Bootcamp.

BIWI · 26/03/2019 16:04

OK - the next Bootcamp will start on Monday 13 May. That means it should finish around the time schools break up for summer.

tootstastic · 26/03/2019 16:14

Ooh thanks @BIWI....exciting!

So 7 weeks and my BB goal is 9.9lbs to get me into the 13s. I reckon that's doable, but I do have a week away at Easter.

Rshard · 26/03/2019 17:41

Spot on @siameasy. I’m going to pick a BB goal of 7lbs in the 7 weeks until May’s boot camp begins.

Thanks @BIWI, great time to finish at the start of the summer holidays.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/03/2019 18:07

Delighted to have some BB Goals company, toots and rshard. And now I know it’s 7 weeks until next bootcamp, I’m slightly tempted to revise my BB Goal of 16lb loss by then, but the hell with it—go big or go home!!

Wasabiaddiction · 26/03/2019 18:13

I will join you all with a 7lb target to the start of the next boot camp.

That will take me to 214lb.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/03/2019 18:15

Yay, wasabi. The BB Goals train picks up another passenger...

Siameasy · 26/03/2019 18:41

I like to set goals so I’ll go for losing 3lb because I’m within BMI and I’m losing very very slowly now. I’d like to lose an inch off my waist to take me to 29. I’d like to be in my size 30w work trousers comfortably.

BIWI · 26/03/2019 18:45

I have to confess to many misgivings, and at one point I considered not doing Bootcamp again.

While 'the big stick' has become a bit of a joke, I'm also very aware that speaking very directly to Bootcampers does upset some/many, and I don't really like that.

On the other hand, as you'll all know by now, this isn't a very forgiving WOE, and just sympathising with people and their digressions isn't really helping people.

So although I am going to do another one, I'm going to take a different tack next time, and retire the big stick.

Any suggestions for how to do it in a more helpful, positive way would be gratefully received!

Wasabiaddiction · 26/03/2019 18:53

I say just continue as you are.

It has taken me years to actually get down and seriously try and loose weight. And learning the rules is a big test of your determination to address a weight issue.

There is no point in being on a diet and not loosing weight because you are not following the rules.

Rshard · 26/03/2019 18:59

Oh @BIWI I for one am glad that you have decided to continue running boot camp.

I think it boils down to some people not liking hearing the truth. That they’re not losing weight on this woe because they’re not following it correctly. It’s often easier to blame someone or something else isn’t it? At the end of the day people choose to sign up for this just as they choose what they put in their mouth. It’s not as though you set out to upset anyone!

Wasabiaddiction · 26/03/2019 19:00

I also want to say that I really appreciate your doing this for no personal gain.

You are helping a lot of people change their lives - even if some of us are just lurking and don’t post much. We are watching and following.

MiniCooperLover · 26/03/2019 19:24

I say keep the big stock. This WOE works but there's no point if you don't mean it. So I'd tell people that but I like that.

MiniCooperLover · 26/03/2019 19:24

Stock = stick 😂

lurknolinger · 26/03/2019 19:40

BIWI I had to de-lurk to reply to your comments about retiring the big stick. Please don't change what you do, there are lots of people that really appreciate what can be learnt from our own and others mistakes (as a lurker I believe that for every person you correct there are many others reading that will have been making the same mistake and will learn from it). Everyone has to find the WOE that suits them but this one is unforgiving so sometimes people need that pointing out especially the ones that don't follow the rules and wonder why they aren't losing. As the saying goes you can't please all the people all of the time, but I'm sure there are lots of us that wouldn't have it any other way! As you always tell us . . Just KOKO Grin

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/03/2019 19:53

I’m glad there’s already a new starting date , conveniently for me a few days after we get home from Barbados ( did I mention we’re going to Barbados ?🌞😀)
So my BB target is to reach 10st 7 by 28th April , and then still be in the 10s by start of Bootcamp

Fell off the wagon over the weekend , we had DS and his GF staying and the weather was lovely , so we had lunch out , ice cream on the beach and wine in the sun which was perfect at the time, there’s going to be no sneaky every day weigh in for me !
Back on the straight and narrow now

Keep the big stick BIWI , and don’t change your way , I need to be spoken too sternly , might pout , but would rather be told the truth than pussyfooting around

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/03/2019 20:00

Hoorah to toots 4 stones, that's amazing! Kudos to you, your determination, and your success.

And a huge bouquet of Flowers for everyone - all those inches lost, and lbs off - everyone single one counts!

Am also going for BB goal - to get back to the lowest weight I was on this BC, before giving up smoking and seeing the weight float up again.

BIWI, keep the stick. I know that's a big ask, because it's you that gets to feel hurt when people react badly, not us. But you whacked me on my very first BC and I was really taken aback. It made me reflect on whether I really could be arsed to do this seriously, or was just faffing about. And I owe you so much for having brought me up short that way. I think - I may be wrong - that your direct talking has made a LOT of people react like me and take it more seriously, and so done them more good. A few people, and there really haven't been that many, will react badly, but chances are flouncers are gonna flounce whatever Wink.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/03/2019 20:16

We have, Bootcampers, lost 765lbs between us this BC. About 55 stones.

The internet tells me that's 2 ponies, or 3 and a bit Arnold Schwarzeneggers.

tootstastic · 26/03/2019 21:18

@AthelstaneTheUnready thank you and thanks also for your spreadsheet genius...those are some amazing collective stats!

And @BIWI, @AthelstaneTheUnready's right...flouncers gonna flounce (love that!).
I can see I'm not alone in really appreciating what you're doing here. For me, you've helped me make lifechanging changes. So, by all means go easy with the big stick, but I think it's more a case of the truth hurting with some folk and you can never please everyone.
