Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the line!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness, waiting for the results from your Scales of Truth!

Hopefully the final weigh-in is a good one for you all.

Although this is the end of this Bootcamp, it's not the end of the chat - so not the end of support, advice and general chit chattery!

So don't despair if you haven't reached your target. Keep going and reporting in here. The Big Stick will be rested in the cupboard for a while, but you can keep checking in here.

That’s interesting Balloon and it could also be to do with fashion. Big bums are now all the rage. I’ve always been an apple tho even in the 90s in my teens/20s. When an apple is slim it’s that straight up and down twig limbed figure a la Kate Moss which was the fashion then.
I think you do see more women with beer guts now - I think that’s caused by stress as well as booze and excess starchy carbs. The snacking culture is out of control plus we have a leaning towards excess now that you really notice when you start this WOE. I wonder if this comes from the Blair years where we all had too much money combined with social media and delayed gratification fell out of fashion. I look at things like freak shakes and bottomless drinks and think that they are disgusting but I’m probably in the minority

Interesting stuff about body shapes @BalloonSlayer and @Siameasy. I'm an hourglass, but turn into an apple when very overweight. I've started to get my shape back now and I love having a waist again, but find it a bit frustrating that clothes sizes are very much cut for pear shaped women. Dresses are usually a good 3-4" smaller on the bust than the hips. My hips and bust are almost the same measurements, so clothes that fit everywhere else are often super tight on the bust. Here's Zara's size chart....

I've had a good week back on the wagon now and I've hit the gym hard to try and compensate for my terrible food week on holiday. So I'm feeling pretty pleased that I've KOKO. The harder gym classes are a killer after almost 2 weeks off, but I'm starting to feel like it's helping shift some stubborn areas of fat and I'm not the biggest person in the class anymore. Small steps, but positive ones. Hooray!

Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the line!

Looking at the Zara sizing I'm guessing I'm an odd shape.

Bust: 36"
Waist: 28"
Hips: 42"

I can still wear my size 14 skirts as the sit on my hips but equally my 12s fit too but size 14 dresses look ridiculously baggy up top. Oh well, just call me freaky Blush

The apple shape is probably reflective of internal weight gain - visceral fat. I don't know, but would imagine this is much more likely to come from a high carb diet. Also could eventually, I think, have a link with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease . (I don't know this, I'm just reading between the lines of that post)

Visceral fat: here

I think that's the problem with standard sizing @m0therofdragons, most of us aren't quite within it. I love Zara stuff and have been so excited fitting into their clothes again, only to discover that anything fitted is far too tight on the bust. A boilersuit I bought recently is a gorgeous fit and very flattering, but I look like a stuffed sausage in two button up shirt dresses I bought. I've decided to keep them for motivation though!

That visceral fat thing would fit with me @BIWI. I'm an apple when very overweight, but hourglass normally. I had a huge upper belly before, so must have all been visceral fat due to my extremely high carb bingeing. It was the first place to come off when I started LC though. My whole tum area is pretty flat now, but places like thighs, arms and hips are taking much longer to see any real difference.

Feeling better but not 100% yet. I went to my gp expecting him to say it's a virus and nothing he can do. Turns out I've been having a flare up of asthma this last week (triggered by the virus) so my oxygen levels are a bit low which explains my lethargy. I'm usually pretty healthy so I've been trying to carry on. Anyway, strong steroids are already making a difference so hopefully I'll be back running again soon. Down another 1lb today so it really shows how little impact exercise has on weightloss when I've barely done anything for 3 days!

I'm now 10st 4lb and am finally thinking the 9s might actually be achievable by the summer. 9st 7 would be my dream but one step at a time!

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2019 19:35

You poor thing m0ther. Feel better.

I have a sore stomach today TMI think I haven't been eating enough fibre and drinking enough water. IYSWIM. Only ran 8.5km this morning rather than the 10km I wanted to do.

Siameasy · 28/04/2019 18:29

I have invented a trick.😂 So I found this 100% chocolate it’s called Montezuma. It’s got 8g/carbs per 100g (the bar is 100g). So you eat one little bit of this and then you eat one square of Lindt 85% (19g/100g) which then tastes really nice and sweet in comparison 😂😂😂so you don’t need normal chocolate

m0therofdragons · 29/04/2019 00:42

We had a lovely family party today with a gorgeous 3 course meal plus birthday cake. It's just as well it's not full boot camp. I mean, I didn't have any roast potatoes with my roast beef and piled up the cabbage and spinach but the giant Yorkshire was delicious and let's not mention dessert Blush

Anyway, occasional blow outs are allowed and back to normal tomorrow.

MarmaladeTeepee · 29/04/2019 17:43

Well my post-holiday resolve turned out to be non-existent! 3 weeks of eating carbs (mainly chocolate and hot cross buns) and I have plenty to show for it - an extra 7lb of weight, lousy skin, lethargy...

So the line is definitely drawn now and I am back on it. Well done to all of you who are staying in the zone and to everyone KOKO.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/04/2019 18:04

I deliberately came off WOE this weekend. I feel gross and I'm all puffy. For two days of carbs and sugar? Surely that's not right?

SummerSazz · 29/04/2019 21:02

I too have been less than good, mainly on the alcohol front and am +4 since the end of boot camp.

However, as with a number of other people it seems, the line was drawn. Run yesterday morning and no alcohol and Pilates this morning, fasting and a walk this evening are putting me firmly back on track

I have a pretty standard week this week so hoping to stay on the good track and banish the pounds and lethargy

SummerSazz · 29/04/2019 21:26

Summer is so bloody hard with cold beer available

I know I sound crap but food and even wine I can say 'no' to but cold beer on a sunny day. Nada. No chance.

ShagMeRiggins · 30/04/2019 08:40

Good morning everyone. Drink your water! Grin

Sign up thread for the next Bootcamp is here

Notlostjustexploring · 30/04/2019 18:55

Thank you for the sign up thread!! Definitely need the boost of Bootcamp. I would like to say I'm doing well between Bootcamps, but there is still bloody Easter chocolate in my house. And I can't stop myself from eating it. I then buy more, then eat more. Addict behaviour. And I'm really annoyed at myself. Chocolate is currently my only deviation, unfortunately it's proving a big one.

Bootcamp feels like a nice clean slate, a line in the sand, a new leaf, insert motivating saying of choice

ShagMeRiggins · 01/05/2019 09:48

Just popping in to announce I am now 2lbs lighter than my husband. Joy. Grin

Thank you, by the way, for all your words of wisdom about the wielding of the Big Stick. I have very much appreciated all your feedback, and will endeavour to continue beating advising the next lot of Bootcampers.

Hoorah for being lighter than your husband, Shag Grin

Have been AWOL but plugging along. Have lost most of my stopping-smoking gain (probably because of starting again...) so just 4lbs away from my lowest weight last BC.

Will be on the next, and WILL be stopping smoking again. My skin's gone kinda grey'ish again already Shock yeuch.

SummerSazz · 01/05/2019 14:49

Still on the straight and narrow this week and so far today have done Pilates, 1.5hr walk and 1k swim with a chicken, avocado and halloumi salad with basil oil for lunch.

Currently at 11.3 so also 4lbs over lightest during boot camp so much for losing a further 7 Hmm. Would love these to be gone again by start of next boot camp but we shall see....

SummerSazz · 01/05/2019 14:50

Good luck for stopping again @AthelstaneTheUnready. Hope you are able to again and enjoy the brighter skin again x

AthelstaneTheUnready · 01/05/2019 15:08

A km swim with a chicken? Didn't it object?

ShagMeRiggins · 01/05/2019 15:37

I’m also loving how BB goals went flying out the window, but onward & downward!
