Morning all Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet - making its penultimate appearance

Just this last week before we have our final weigh-in next Monday, so hopefully we can make this a good last few days.

@MrsKoala I am the opposite to you - a wee short skinny thing. But as I am an apple shape, I end up looking like a kid's drawing of a big round body (including a smiley face) with stick like arms and legs hanging off it.

For years I longed to have longer legs, to be tall and willowy....

These days, I don't care. I am who I am.

BIWI · 22/03/2019 08:15

I came across this recipe today:

low carb gnocchi

... which I'd very much like to try. But I'm not sure about the quantities, because they're American cups. Does anyone know how to translate these into grams or ounces?

TIA

Conversion chart
NSV this morning , put on a pair of medium tights ( fresh from the packet ) that I bought in error , normally ( I mean used to ) wear large

StuntNun · 22/03/2019 09:30

Cups are a pain BIWI because the weight varies between different ingredients. I ended up buying some cup measures from Amazon then the first time I make a recipe I make a note of the weight of each ingredient for next time.

Rshard · 22/03/2019 09:49

I got fed up of converting and bought some cups @BIWI. As far as I could make out there isn’t a definitive conversion, it changes between dry goods and butter for example. So a faff! Here’s some info dish.allrecipes.com/cup-to-gram-conversions/. Not sure if that’s a clicky link?

Rshard · 22/03/2019 09:49

The gnocchi look good though!

BIWI · 22/03/2019 09:56

Thanks - I know that the cups/volumes are always different, which is what makes it so irritatingly confusing!

I might have to buy some cups too.

MrsKoala · 22/03/2019 09:58

I wouldn't use a conversion chart BIWI. As StuntNun says different ingredients vary. I use a set of cup measures. But if you have a measuring jug you can translate the volume. Ie a cup is 250ml, half is 125ml, one third is 80ml and one quarter is 60ml (according to my cups)

tootstastic · 22/03/2019 10:17

Ooh love the sound of that gnocchi recipe @BIWI! I might try that next week, I miss chewy stuff.

I was listening to KT Tunstell on Radio 2 this morning and she was saying how she now follows a ketogenic diet and how it's a way of eating that really works for her. She follows Dave Asprey's Bulletproof diet apparently. So might be worth checking out between bootcamps if anyone needs some fresh inspiration ... blog.bulletproof.com/what-is-bulletproof-diet/

ShagMeRiggins · 22/03/2019 11:08

Some of the recipes look good there, toots but just reading about the diet itself gives me a headache. Zones and fasting times and carb re-feed days blah blah blah.

I’m really grumpy today.

BrassicaBabe · 22/03/2019 11:12

Goal! I'm claiming it before the weekend. 9.10.2

tootstastic · 22/03/2019 11:23

@ShagMeRiggins oh I'm probably with you on that then, I can't be bothered to have to count or measure anything! I've not had chance to have a proper read yet.

@BrassicaBabe Whoop whoop 🙌🏼 how fantastic, huge congrats!

BIWI · 22/03/2019 11:29

Woo hoo @BrassicBabe! Star Halo Flowers

I love my measuring cups cos they also have a teaspoon tablespoon etc and I love funky kitchen implements.
Well done Brassica what is your end goal?

I’m focusing on muscle building, mindful eating and getting more sleep as there isn’t anything else I can give up (!)

I killed my legs yesterday in fact my left thigh went dead halfway through squatting with weights and now I can’t walk. Which is an excellent feeling

MrsKoala · 22/03/2019 11:37

Well done Brassica! What lovely clothes are you going to sashay about in?

I'm not sure how much i'll lose this week as I have only managed one 16:8 day and have been eating more than usual as I have a crappy cold. Thanks to my snotty children I have finally succumbed. I'm drinking far too much tea and eating cheese omelettes as that's all I fancy. Going to try for fish pie tonight.

Last night was pizza night and I had green pepper 'pizzas - Large green pepper cut in half and each half filled with tomato sauce, sausage, peperoni, mushrooms and topped with mozzarella. Had it with avocado, lettuce and cucumber salad.

BrassicaBabe · 22/03/2019 11:57

I got to goal in May 18 after starting BC in Sept'17. My goal is to be at or under 9.10. I spent May to Nov in the 9.6 to 9.10 region (we won't talk about holidays just yet). Then the wheels fell off in December and rather than "quick on quick off" I've been paying for it since!!

Personally January and February were really tough months, jobless etc. That definitely translated into weight loss being even harder. (That's just not fair isn't it). I appreciate the support I received here over those difficult months sooo much.

I'm square and boxy. Wide shoulders. No waist. But I love buying size 10 clothes!! Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/03/2019 12:23

Hoorah for Brassica! Flowers and [podium].

KiteMarked · 22/03/2019 13:08

Congrats, Brassica! Makes me feel that it's possible for me to reach goal someday (soon) too.

I don't think I've ever been in the "normal" BMI category my entire adult life. I'd like to be comfortably in the middle of the range. One step at a time!

ShagMeRiggins · 22/03/2019 13:44

BrassicaBabe FABulous. Really, just so happy for you. StarStarStar

1stMrsF · 22/03/2019 15:19

Well done@BrassicaBabe! Star

Rshard · 22/03/2019 19:10

Fantastic @brassica!!!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/03/2019 19:50

In honour of Brassica, I am having pork belly tonight.

Planting 9 saplings and umpteen random pots of rescue plants tomorrow, and sorting out the veg bed. Nice long walk Sunday, finished with roast chicken dinner (i.e. mostly skin and broccoli in chicken juice) - am SO looking forward to the weekend Grin.

SummerSazz · 22/03/2019 20:59

Off the scales for a couple of days as been away. Having a glass of red tonight and then out sat and sun so I don't expect to meet target of 'normal' by last weigh in. 2lbs to go but it will be gone by the start of next bootcamp.....

Well done @BrassicaBabe that's brilliant, especially through a tough time 👏

KOKO ladies......

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/03/2019 21:22

Oooh , well done Brassica
Had a stupidly busy day , ran round like a fool
Then a lovely ex colleague came to see me , and remarked on how much weight I’d lost ( in a nice way , not you used to be so fat type of way ), that was a boost
Had a carb creep meal tonight , chicken tikka masala made with a sauce in a jar, though I added cauliflower and spinach and obviously didn't have any rice
How is everyone getting on
Good day @Rshard ?

Siameasy · 22/03/2019 23:02

Well done Brassica!
I have the same shape as you-big blooming shoulders and a sodding large rib cage!!
We have bought the CALIFIA Vanilla Almond milk and the unsweetened iced coffee. Soooooo good!! So smooth. Stopping now!!!
