Morning all Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet - making its penultimate appearance

Just this last week before we have our final weigh-in next Monday, so hopefully we can make this a good last few days.

BrassicaBabe · 18/03/2019 06:58

Thanks BIWI

I'm logging a 0.4lb loss. I saw numbers akin to 1.8lb loss but I saw them fleetingly. This puts me at 9.11.4. Goal is 9.10. So a final push this week for me!

Siameasy · 18/03/2019 07:04

I’ve been 9st 13 since 24th Feb 🙈
Interestingly I’ve had a virus since then and have been sub par with my cardio
I’m within my BMI so it’s not the end of the world but I feel I have too much fat on my stomach still for my liking and ultimately I want to be mid 9s

BIWI · 18/03/2019 07:11

So close, @BrassicaBabe!

Morning all. So lovely to be near goal, keep at it.

I've a way to go until that happens but amhappy to report a 2lb loss this week. I've had a fairly good week with a bit of a psychological carb battle mid week, just wanted to fall flat into a pile of them. Got through it though and have to say re reading these boards really helped.

Last week and realustically would like to end up having lost at least 20lbs overall. I'm at 18 so if I'm super strict I might just do it.

Good luck for the week ahead everyone.

Japonicaflower2 · 18/03/2019 08:11

Hello everyone, tubby lurker here!
Can anyone tell me how to lose weight when a heart condition rules out exercise other than very short walks and medication that leads to weight gain? I've put on a stone in 9 months and feel permanently bloated 😢
I'm not permitted a high fat diet nor can I have more than 1 litre of liquid per day. I am short of breath much of the time, GP is monitoring.
Any suggestions very much appreciated, thank you.

venusandmars · 18/03/2019 08:21

0.4lb off. Got a very 'clean' week coming up, no meals out so should be easy to plan and to keep to this woe. I intend to carry on for an additional week - got a big family event on 30th March and the rest of my family are all wee skinny minis. However biggest positive impact for me is controlling high blood pressure, which seems much lower on hflc food. So even after bootcamp finishes I imagine that this woe will be substantially how I live. And that is good.

L - avocado salad
D - M&S chicken with cheese and ham, buttered spinach, purple sprouting broccoli

Doilooklikeatourist · 18/03/2019 09:04

Stayed the same , so still in the 10s ( by the skin of my teeth )
As I said on the last thread , I’m really struggling this Bootcamp
I think it’s all in my head ?
I’ve always been a bit overweight , now I’m just about in the OK BMI , it’s a bit like losing my identity
I just need to realise my new self is a healthy size and shape self
I’ll try some visualising , and some new clothes ( have a day off tomorrow )
I’ve got 5 days to make progress as DS and his GF will be here at the weekend ( which means Sunday lunch out , celebration dinner on Saturday , and coffee and cakes on Monday , but at least that will be after the final weigh in )

tootstastic · 18/03/2019 09:04

Thanks @BIWI, this BC seems to have flown by!

@BrassicaBabe well done getting so near your goal.

@SlinkyDinkyDoo I have days like your carb battle, it's a killer isn't it. Well done getting through.

1.7lbs off for me. Lost 53.8lbs since Oct (17.6 this BC), which is over 20% of my original body weight. Only 2.2lbs to go to hit the 4 stones off, so need to be extra good this week to try and reach that before the end of BC.

Good luck on the scales everyone!

Siameasy · 18/03/2019 09:07

I’m reading on diet doctor about stalls and mindful eating as yesterday I noticed although I didn’t have anything “forbidden” and I still had less on my plate than others, I still stuffed it in until I felt like I had a stone in my stomach. So diet doc says to practise for a week checking if you’re full before you get to that stage

BIWI · 18/03/2019 09:08

@Japonicaflower2

Glad you stopped lurking!

Don't worry about not being able to exercise - you'd have to be doing a lot of exercise to make significant inroads into your weight.

But it sounds to me like you do have a pretty significant health issue going on, and so I don't really think it's wise or appropriate for us to advise you on how to diet. Particularly when on this WOE we eat lots of fat and drink lots of liquid.

Can I ask, though, why you've been advised that?

MrsFionaCharming · 18/03/2019 09:37

Last night before my shower I weighed in at 11 stone 2, so was very excited for this morning and how low my weight would be... turned out to be 11 stone 4, so I’m not especially happy.

On the plus side, I’m attending an event this weekend, that requires specific colours of clothing. I bought some jeggings for it at the start of january, figuring they were a bit tight but I’d slim into them by now. Tried them on yesterday and they’re baggy. I can’t afford to buy anything new for it, so I was a bit upset that I’d look rubbish in all the photos of the event.

DP pointed out I owned a skirt of the right colour that was hanging up in the study. I’d hung it up there to take photos as I’m trying to sell it on eBay, as it’s absolutely tiny. I told DP there was no point in even trying it, but he was insistent. IT DID UP! It’s not 100% comfortable, but hopefully by next weekend it will be!

m0therofdragons · 18/03/2019 10:06

1lb off here but teetering on dropping down so may be tomorrow is the day. I have almost 2 weeks until my birthday so I'm determined the numbers will continue in a downwards direction.

Feeling really unwell today and can't decide if it's a sickness bug or migraine.

BrassicaBabe · 18/03/2019 10:29

@MrsFionaCharming an excellent NSV! Well done!!

Rshard · 18/03/2019 10:29

Some great results!

I’m in much the same boat as you @doilooklikeatourist, in that I’ve struggled so I wondered if you fancied supporting each other a bit?

Dia12 · 18/03/2019 10:49

Morning all, I've been absent for a week or so but on plan with eating, stopped weighing myself daily as the weight just wasn't shifting despite the effort. I think I was snacking too much and generally overeating.
Anyhow today, finally I've dropped around 2lbs, another lb to get into the 10s!

It's been a real struggle and slow progress. I had hoped to lose more than I have but understand it's more important that I learn better eating habits and breaking the emotional connection with food.

Well done at being so close to hitting your goal @tootstastic 🎉

AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/03/2019 11:16

Morning, all - congrats on the losses, and KOKO (it's worth it!) to those without.

Have a bit of good news/bad news on the weigh-in: having been gradually climbing back up the scales the last week or so, I'm now back where I started BC Shock

I have behaved, eaten well, drunk loads of water - what has changed in the last 20 days though is that I gave up smoking. I guess it's true that it interferes with your metabolism as that's the only consistent change over the the last two weeks or so.

Should be gutted about the weight regain, but I'm so pleased with the benefits of stopping that I can't get that fussed about it. My forehead wrinkles have nearly gone, my skin is a lovely healthy colour, my hands are less wrinkly, I can BREATHE, I feel bouncy, I don't cough myself to sleep, and I can BREATHE Grin Grin

Besides, just think what I might have weighed had I not been doing BC at the same time Am going to KOKO, and hopefully six weeks down the line will be back at my lowest again and ready to continue losing!

venusandmars · 18/03/2019 11:20

@tootstastic - well done! and fingers crossed (and tempting carbs ignored) for next week, and your 4 stone achievement.

@japonicaflower2 I don't 'exercise' (I hate getting hot / sweaty / out of breath) but I have been doing 10,000 steps daily, and some slow yoga. I'm a strolling sloth with short legs, so for me to do 10,000 steps takes about 1.5hrs per day (or maybe 1 hour 20 minutes). It doesn't have to be completed in one long burst, if you could walk for 30 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes in the middle of the day, and 20 minutes in the evening you'd have done it. And of course you could set yourself a lower limit.

I don't think those steps contribute to me losing weight but they get my body outside and moving a bit, and I'm certain it's good for my mental health - I notice spring arriving in tiny ways, I appreciate arriving back home to a warm house after a cold wet walk... etc. And I feel like I'm doing something.

Sometimes it is a real challenge. On a rainy blustery day it is so much more tempting to jump in the car and drive to the shops, and on a hot summer's day it can feel like too much effort. I try to incorporate my walks into something that is either pleasurable or necessary: so a walk to the swimming pool for a leisurely swim / hot-tub / steam room (I only count the steps to get there, nothing from the swim, which means it can be a truly lovely leisurely time), or a walk to the shops - and having to carry my shopping home in a bag-pack means that I am much less likely to buy anything extra - especially heavy items like potatoes or bottles of wine.

Your health consultants will be able to explain to you about limiting water intake and fats, but I know that my MIL was on diuretics and statins, and given the same advice. Under medical supervision she gradually changed all off that and is now eating and drinking in a more balanced way.

Unfortunately, there are many medications (including those for sever mental health issues) where the side effects include substantial weight gain Sad Sometimes, out lives are a balance between physical, mental, emotional health, and it doesn't always equal out very easily. I really hope you have a lot of love and support around you.

1stMrsF · 18/03/2019 11:29

Well done everyone - it sounds like there has been some great success this week, even if not always on the scales. Especially you @AthelstaneTheUnready, that is a brilliant achievement.

I'm showing a 0.2lb gain compared to last Monday, but was under my next target and 2.5lb lower on Thursday, so I'm just going to KOKO this week and can hopefully finish BC on target despite this blip. There has been some wine and carb creep this weekend and like Siameasy, I think I often eat 'a portion' of something rather than what fills me up, so I've got some things to focus on.

L - boiled eggs and avocado with mayo, will add salad from canteen
D - Smoked haddock, poached egg, hollandaise and spinach

Oops, I've done that thing again of grabbing easy food for lunch forgetting I've got eggs planned for dinner!

1Wildheartsease · 18/03/2019 12:00

Well done losers!

Motherofdragons - hope you are feeling better this afternoon.
AthelstaneTheUnready - great news about your success. Well done. (Breathing is an under-rated pleasure:) )

StuntNun · 18/03/2019 12:17

Japonica the Fast 800 might be worth looking at, if your GP approves. It's low carb but very flexible and doesn't require a high fat intake.

Doilooklikeatourist · 18/03/2019 15:24

Yes @Rshard , good plan
I’m being positive today , we’ve been through the wardrobes and listed what we need to buy for our holiday ( once I’d stopped laughing at some of DHs old smart summer shirts )
I need
Swimsuit
Shorts
2 sundresses
I summer jacket ( I fancy a denim jacket shape , but not denim iyswim )
Beach coverup
Flat sandals
I’m going to town , and trying on lots tomorrow

Foods going well today ,
B nothing
L 2 egg omlette , with mushrooms , ham , cheddar and 2 cherry tomatoes
D chicken casserole , with courgettes , leeks and cauli cheese ( the BC way )

We’re off to the cinema , to watch Fishermen’s Friends , and there will be no snacking in the pictures
How about you ?
Hope you’re having a good start to the week

@tootstasic 💐nearly 4 stone !
Well done

Rshard · 18/03/2019 15:36

Excellent @doilooklikeatourist!

Your shopping list and trip sound fun, I desperately need to sort out my wardrobe, sure I only wear a tiny bit of it.

I’m feeling positive too, today’s food

B - scrambled eggs salmon
L - hm coleslaw, Greek salad chicken mayo
D - probably salad again with tuna mayo and avocado.

Might try intermittent fasting tomorrow and take some yoghurt to eat at work

@toots! Wow!

Notlostjustexploring · 18/03/2019 15:41

I don't know who coined the phrase "carby twat" but it definitely applies this week.

My learning from this week:
I got cocky and arrogant having "just a piece" or "one won't hurt" and not seeing it reflected on the scales, so I thought breastfeeding helped the response. So I ate shit loads of carbs this week and I had a 4lbs weight gain present on the scales this morning.

I've been very run down and under the weather this week. It's interesting, I can't work out whether I stepped off the wagon and then ended up unwell, or got unwell then stepped off the wagon. Feeling rotten and eating carbs definitely goes hand in hand.

However, there is one week left. Plenty of time to lose that bonus 4lbs and an extra one to bring me down the next stone bracket.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 18/03/2019 16:30

So what's everyone planning for evening meals this week? I need inspiration.

I've got cod with capers and greens tonight and at some point I'll be having roast chicken and some turkey meatballs with marscapone and tomato sauce. What else?

I'm not feeling red meat at the moment and had pork yesterday. Salmon maybe?

venusandmars · 18/03/2019 17:53

I like salmon wrapped in prosciutto (or any kind of ham), fried on the skin then finished off in the oven. Accompanied by oven roasted veg (a few small tomatoes are good in the mix) and topped with full fat yogurt which has been blitzed with a bunch of herbs (basil, mint etc).

I posted Delia's Californian fish recipe on the fish recipe thread, but basically lemon sole, topped with a mayonnaise mix (mayonnaise, chopped capers, lime juice, chopped fresh coriander) then covered with grated cheddar, and sprinkled with parmesan. Bake in ove for about 15 minutes till topping is bubbling. Serve with broccoli, spinach or your other favourite veg.

And I loved the moussaka recipe that was posted on thread 1 of this bootcamp. It's a bit faffy, but so worth it Smile

I think this is it:

Moussaka
500g minced lamb
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tsp dried oregano
1tsp dried cinnamon
2tblsp tomato puree
100ml water
1 large aubergine
3 eggs
300ml double cream
200g feta cheese

Fry off the lamb mince, drain excess fat, add the onion and garlic and fry till soft.
Stir in the oregano, cinnamon, tomato puree & water and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
Slice the aubergine(s), brush with oil and grill/fry/griddle until soft but not mushy.
Layer the meat with the aubergine slices in an ovenproof dish.
Beat the eggs and cream together, add the crumbled feta, pour the mixture over the meat/aubergines and bake for 45 mins at 180 Gas 4
